Description: A child was out with his parents traveling from the Sand Hidden Village back to his own Village. On the way, the child was separated from his parents and was lost in the expansive deserts of the Wind Country. The family has asked the Kazekage to send out ninja to help find their child. A team up to three (3) ninja must go from the Sand Hidden Village and search the area around the Village to try and find the child. The family is worried that the child may have been kidnapped, which is why they requested a team of three ninja. The child has been described as being very young, around ten years old. He has short brown hair and he is wearing silk robes.
Objective: Find the child, if the child has been kidnapped kill or capture the kidnappers and bring them back with the child.
Reward: 2,500 Ryo

Traversing the desert was no easy task for anybody, this was certain. After living here for so long, however, even the most tiny of marks of the area Kai could pick up on and use to his advantage. This was, however, in a limited range around the sand village. He had never actually been all that far away from his own village. Despite this Kai did have a clue on where abouts he was meant to go looking for this child. If he was kidnapped or not, the first place they would have went would be a nearby small town. It was only a couple miles away from the village.

As the shinobi made his way through all the sand he was on high alert for any signs of both other people or the small marks that would point him in the right direction. If he should come across either it would be great, because even if the people werent exactly friendly Kai could still extract information from them. Kai would think of all the possibilties, all of the information he had, and would try to piece it together once he climbed a giant sand dune. Giving the time of when the child went missing and when he had left the sand village he couldnt be anymore than ten miles away from where he was, it was a rough estimate but it was the best he could come up with.

This being said, Kai knew nothing of any other small towns that they could stop by within that range. So the best bet would be the place that Kai already knew about. The town didn't even have a name, nor did most of the towns around the desert, they were more or less stopping points in which people who liked to adventure could stop by and rest up. Taverns were common in each town too, and the one that Kai knew of has one too. The shinobi knew that when he arrived he would probably go there first for any information about the child, it was his best bet.

As Kai reached the top of the sand dune he looked down upon a massive crater that had been formed in the middle of three massive sand dunes, one of which was the one Kai was standing on. This crater hosted a small number of stone ruins which instinctively told Kai that he was walking in the right direction. Ruins werent so common to come across in the desert, but when they were found it was an almost sure sign that a small town would be nearby.

The blazing desert heat would attack at Kai, despite this he still managed to put up with it. In fact his white hoodie made it so much more easier, compared to when he wore black clothes this was nothing.

Kai would stare down at the ruins for a few more moments before setting out to his right, he could tell by the way the stone ruins were angled that this would be the direction he needed to travel in. Slowly he would stumble down the giant dune, making sure to not make the same mistake of tumbling down one like he had once done before.

The sun had never given up trying to exhaust the shinobi, still beating down on him. Yet again to zero progress, the shinobi was almost as cool as when he had left the village. To him it just felt like a casual sunny day, whilst to others it may feel like a living hell. Kai contemplated how far he had traveled since he had first left the village, about a mile. It was as accurate as Kai could tell given the ruins he had just encountered, juding by them he could make up a rough estimate. The next thing he was looking for was an oasis, it was the same one where he had once encountered this other kid he was looking for.

When he found it Kai would know he would be on the right track, and that he would also be very close to his destination. The oasis was only about a few hundred meters from the village, it was a primary location where the locals would gather water and food. And, if the shinobi was lucky, he could find somebody there to take him back to the town.

That being said it didn't really matter even if somebody was not there, Kai knew his way around this part of the desert.

As he approached yet another dune he noticed that this one was a much steeper climb, it was a great indicator to say that he had found his oasis. The same oasis he had found before was surrounded by steep dunes on all sides, thus why he had fell down them once before.

He would take the first step of his journey up the sand, keeping his eyes on where he walked at all times. Given it was a desert anything could jump out of the sand at any given moment, if it be a scorpion or a snake they would surely be poisonious. Kai climbed the slope with a rather nonchalant look on his face, his hands in his pockets. Last time he had done this it was much harder, maybe this was proof that he had gotten stronger since the last time he had climbed the same dune. Or maybe he was climbing the wrong dune.

He was right on the first thought, as he reached the top and finally arrived at the oasis. Well, he was almost there, he just needed to get down now.

This was much easier now than it was last time, Kai knew now how to slide properly down these things. It was practically second nature as it should be to any other trained shinobi of the sand village. First he would look down the dune to make sure there wasn't any form of animals or obsticles, once his keen eyes had confirmed that there wasn't any of these Kai would take a leap on to the slope.

Immedietly Kai would slide down the sand, his legs were angled in such a way that it would balance his body so he would slide in a straight line. Kai could feel the warm air turn cold and he increased his speed, he had to make sure he wasn't sliding too fast otherwise he would surely crash at the bottom. He was almost there, the end of his ride, as he approached he readied himself to take a leap with his right leg.

His full attention was on the slope... now!

Kai would press up with his right leg, converting all the momentum from the travel in to a jump. This would send him a few meters in to the air, only to be quickly brought back down again. He landed perfectly with his legs crouched to avoid breaking his feet, converting any left over momentum in to the ground below him.

He had arrived at his second destination.

A splash in the face was just what he needed, a cool refreshing way to beat the heat. Kai would do this twice more before standing up again, looking around for any markers he should notice. The oasis wasn't very big, but neither was the town so Kai assumed they both evened each other out. Various animals had made this their sancturary, and as such there were all kinds from snakes to wild boars. Kai wondered why exactly boars were in the desert in the first place, perhaps they were cattle for the villagers? He returned back to taking water from the oasis, drinking up the precious life liquid.

This and the refreshing air from the fall to get here had actually managed to make Kai feel cold, despite the extremely heated weather.

He looked up at the sparkling water, it was a touch of beauty in such a unforgiving place. A sudden rustle in the bushes alerted the shinobi almost immedietly, he turned around and reached in to his butt bag completely out of instinct. His eyes were now locked on to the foliage, although they didn't at all look threatening. Kai's eyes were just that of a cautious man was all.

A wild boar would pop it's head out of the greenery, a breif sigh with closed eyes would mark Kai's releif. He didn't want any blood to be spilled, especially not in such a beautiful place.

Kai had taken off his hoodie as to not get it wet from all the water that was dripping from his face, the last thing he needed was to feel uncomfortable in his own clothes. The only thing covering the shinobi's chest would be a orange tank top, which Kai made sure not to get water on either. He would close his eyes as he drank up a final round of the oasis water, before putting his hoodie back on.

The water had already dried from his face, it was to be expected in heat like this.

Judging by the formation of trees in the oasis Kai knew that he had to begin travel to his left now if he wanted to reach the town as soon as possible. As such he started in that direction in hopes to find this missing child, supposedly kidnapped.

This was it, he had finally arrived at the village. It was very small and was made up of only about three streets. Kai would look to his left, then to his right, everybody was dressed in rags and they all gave Kai an evil eye. If the shinobi had to guess, it was probably because they were all jealous of how much he had in comparison to them. It was true. The little town was small and only really had enough room for a tavern, what looked like a small doctors shack beside it, and enough houses for all the people that lived here.

As Kai walked through the town he attracted an unusual amount of attention from everybody around. Each of them would look at him breifly before turning back to what they were doing in panic.

He walked down the street with a stride that represented authority, or at least he tried the best he could. His shoulders were still slouching slightly and it was written on his face that he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. He was lost in his thoughts about where the child could be, he had to think if he were a child... where would he be?

Not here, that was for sure.

Kai decided that he should probably visit the tavern first to see if anybody has seen the child, the mission came with a photo of his target. It was just as well, considering the clients really didn't provide him with all that much information. Short brown hair and silk robes, thats not much to go by.

"Let's see... short brown hair, silk robess"

He scanned his surroundings whilst looking back and forth between the picture and reality, hoping to find the child. Street by street he would search hoping to find him, but to no luck. Kai sighed as he arrived at the entrance of the tavern, if the kid wasn't here then he could be anywhere out in the desert. Not to mention Kai had to go to the land of rain tomorrow with Kyo, he couldn't afford to be waiting around here for the kid. If the kid wasn't in here then he would have to call off the search, a gulp of anxiety made it's way down his throat. This was it.

He opened the tavern door and walked inside, tables randomly scattered around with barrels for seats. Not exactly first class. There was also a bar table, at which a kid was sat at.

"Hey!"

A kid with brown hair.

"Old man you have a customer!"

A kid wearing silk robes.

"Just wait a second and i'll be right there"

A kid with brown hair wearing silk robes, Kai looked down to the picture that was still in his hand, then looked back up to the child. Kai wasn't entirely sure what to think, he was surprised beyond belief. He looked back at the picture, then back to the kid, then back to the picture once more before returning his gaze to the child.

The picture... a perfect match?

'To think I was actually worried about this little brat! Look at him over there just casually sipping his drink.' He wasn't kidnapped, he couldn't have been! Just looking at him would prove otherwise, he was sat there completely undisturbed just fine and peachy. Kai approached the kid, a look of a thousand demons would be spread out across his face. He placed his hand on the kids shoulder, causing the little trouble maker to turn around. Instantly he jumped back as his gaze met with Kai's, the shinobi looked like pure evil!

"Your parents have asked me to retrieve you, kid". Malice filled the air as Kai cracked his knuckles, he towered above the child. The kids arms were raised from the shock, nervousness and fear. His face was now twitching.

"Ehehehehe... so uhh..."

Kai allowed the kid a moment to explain himself.

"Nice weather we're having? Right...?" The kid tilted his head.

Before the kid even knew it he was being dragged by the collar, out of the tavern, and through the street.

"Come on, please! I don't want to go back to my parents! Anything but them!" The kid looked up to Kai, and Kai would look down to the kid, Kai's look of evil now had vanished.

"Please...?"

For a moment Kai looked back at the child and his innocent look, as if he was actually considering it.

"No." Kai looked away from the kid in a defiant childish way.

The child began thrashing his arms back and forth in an attempt to escape. Struggling and wriggling in an attempt to free himself from the demon!

"You're evil! I hate you shinobi always bringing me back to that stupid village! And you're always so STUPID and UGLY and ANNOYING!"

Each insult weighed Kai down, almost as if he was being hit on the head each time a name was called out.

"And I bet you're the most STUPID of them all" The kid would stick his tongue out. Kai would strain the top right of his face trying to contain the anger he had for the brat, but it was of no use.

Slowly Kaius turned around to the kid, the look of demons had returned again! Kai raised his spare hand, the kid watched as it slowly clenched in to a fist. The kid looked confused at this gesture.

"Eh?..."

"s-s-..SHUT UP YOU STUPID BRAT!"

A direct punch to the top of the head knocked the kid out cold, a complete knock out. A large bump had popped out from where the punch made contact. Kai dragged the unconscious kid with his fist still closed, stomping down the street as if he owned the place. He was absolutely fuming with rage, 'Call me stupid will he? I sure taught this brat a lesson! What an idiot!' A hearty laugh would mark his victory as he strode his way down the town, back in the direction he had came from. Back in the direction of Sunagakure.

Despite Kai being about seven years older than the kid they appeared just as immature as each other, childish was definitely one of Kai's natural traits. Despite that Kai was usually a lot more level headed than this...

Perhaps the heat had got to him after all?
