The Behemoth Moves [Travel]

The area outside of the village was quite cool and wet and he enjoyed the relaxing feeling of the cold leaves against the exposed skin of his arms as he travelled through the forest.  The land of fire was his goal, and he knew that he had to head to the east in order to reveal his goal.  Although he did not possess a map, he knew well enough to head in the correct direction.  The massive Hoshigaki felt the comforting constriction of the chain wrap around his arm, all ten meters of steel resting comfortably against his cool skin.  The large shield on his back sand as the small drops of rain struck it, running small rivulets down the indentations in the metal before dripping on to the earth below.  The orange robe that usually covered his shoulders was loose from the waist up, had been rolled down and rested around his waist, revealing his naked upper body, and the crimson tattoo emblazoned on his chest.  

His travel would be tiring for someone of his hulking stature, but he needed to do this, no matter how exhausted he became.  The trees and everything before him were easily moved from his path by his great strength, and he continued in a straight line towards his goal of the land of fire.

Misdirected Move

There was something quite wrong with where he was.  From what he had heard, the Land of Fire was a temperate climate and very forested.  This area was very dry and mountainous.  Looking at the sun he realized he had been a fool.  A large, stupid fool.  Where he found himself, there was at least a civilization.  Rolling up his robe, he clothed himself so as not to scare anyone, as his appearance was scary enough to those who were not used to seeing people of the Hoshigaki clan.  Perhaps it would be smart to purchase a compass or something that would prevent him from getting lost on his way to fire.  After all he needed to go in the complete opposite direction, and pass through rain once more.

Back on track, hopefully.  The Hoshigaki held the small device in his hands gingerly, as the tiny item was his only way of travelling back home and to where he wanted to go next.  There was no accounting for his poor sense of direction he supposed, and there was no use complaining about he waste of his time.  Gearing himself back up, he prepared to take off once more.  The days it had taken for him to move across the Rain country and into the country of stone would now be retraced and the lonely journey would begin once more and he would pass his village again in order to move into the land of fire.  The dry mountainous terrain of his current surroundings seemed like they would be an excellent place for him to train though, and the rough area looked like it hid many secrets that he wanted to discover.  If only he had more time to explore the mountains and crevasse's around him. 

The border of rain and stone was not an easy transition, as the rocky outcroppings slowly began to be swallowed and strangled by the vines and roots of trees that slowly rose higher and higher the further into the country he walked.  The mountains slowly became molehills as the trees became the new tallest features of the land around and he recognized that he was truly back to the place he recognized as his homeland.  The walking was really starting to get to him, but he was not going to rest until he got where he needed to be.

Moved to Land of Rain

The land of Rain was easily his favourite place to be thanks to the cool weather, constant presence of water, and the beauty of the rainforests that surround the lands.  Truly the country possessed everything a large Fishman such as himself could enjoy.  The best part was that a lot of the creatures that grew out in the wild grew quite large and heavy from the abundance of food, which meant whenever he chose to hunt, his score was usually quite tasty and long lasting.  He was quite hungry now, but he would wait until nightfall before settling for a camp and eating.  The creatures could wait until then, as he had just made it from the country of stone back home on his way to the land of fire.  A few large trees blocked his path, some broken and resting against others, as though someone had put up a blockade to prevent a person from getting through.  Bones stuck out from the dirt and ragged cloth that had been torn and discarded about the area sat dirty and partially buried.  At some point this had been a bandit checkpoint, one he imagined had been destroyed by Amegakure.

Flexing his arms, he drew his right hand back and steeled himself, striking at the branches with ferocity that tore the wood asunder and allowed him an entrance as the trunks collapsed and were torn to pieces by the strikes.  Water that had been resting on the trees above showered down upon him, soaking his already quite wet robe, and making him shiver as some cold drops went down the back of the fabric.  Even someone who preferred the cool water could still be surprised when a cold drop did that.  The path ahead, behind all the trees was quite clear, and the path towards where the land of fire happened to be was quite open to him.  Just to make sure though, he pulled the compass from his vest and checked.  Thankfully he was still heading due east, and towards where he needed to be.

The rain had stopped a while back, and the fauna had turned from the large leaved ferns of the rainforest into the heavier oaks and trees that lived in the drier parts of the world.  The land of fire was quite beautiful in itself.  Not as glorious as the rainforests of Ame, but still quite stunning and colourful.  The usual dark green and heavy hues of his homeland had been traded for the bronzes and golds of the leaves that were falling from the trees of this country.  The colours of the nature here were quite extravagant, and he was quite pleased with himself for having decided on visiting.  Where he was in the land of fire he did not know, but with a sort of commotion nearby, he figured it would not be so hard to find someone to ask.  Whistling as he walked, he felt the warmth of the sun on his back, and wondered how the people of this country could live in such a temperate and humid climate all the time.
