Effect: Creates little orbs of lightning that explode on impact
Special: Rabbit, Tiger, Snake
Drawback: Must be at least 20 feet away from blast area or else you will be damaged as well.
Description: After the Necessary hand signs the user puts there hands near each other, palms facing one another. Little orbs of lightning begin to appear in the user’s hand, like marbles. The user then releases them at the enemy’s feet or at the enemy himself. On impact the Lightning Marbles will explode and release electrical charges in a 20 foot radius damaging anything and everything in its range of fire.
Limit: Must Know Lightning Release; Every Shinobi in cloud can use but Shinobi outside of Cloud must be Taught by a Shinobi from cloud to learn it.

Feeling that he needed some more practice in the jutsu, Tieren stood up again and formed the 3 handseals again. He decided to increase it to 6 orbs instead of 5. As he gathered the chakra and lightning in his hand and started forming the orbs. Forming 5 of them, he started gathering the sparks in his hand for a 6th orb. Doing so, he now had 6 of them circling in his hand. Now to see if he could use them effectively.

Releasing them, he formed the handseals again, and then gathered the chakra and lightning and formed the 6 orbs in his hand. Now he needed to launch them back at the tree. Focusing his chakra to his hand, he quickly circled around and launched them directly at the tree. One went to the same spots as last time, and the 6th went to a point where a persons chest would be. When the hit the tree, they exploded and went out to a little bit ahead of him. But then the tree collapsed, having been hit with so many jutsu. Jumping out of the way, he laughed. He didnt mean to do that, but that was the cause of training. Either way, he started meditating again next to the tree, and waited to train some more.

Description: The user focuses chakra at a certain point on the target and creates a small amount of friction in the air, sparking the area. This can be done almost instantaneously, but causes almost zero damage due to the small nature of the spark. It cannot cause paralysis or blindness, nor any other sort of damage. Usually a prank children use on each other like a game of tag, but with sparks for a small kick.

After resting a bit, Tieren finally reached his last scroll. It seemed fairly easy as well. Apparently, it was called the instant spark technique. It was something that created a small spark at a given location. It is small, and wouldn’t do any damage, unless used on water or oil, but it could still prove as a distraction. Either way, he would still learn it. It was just another jutsu to add to his arsenal. After practicing the ox handseal a little bit, he was ready to begin.

Performing the ox handseal, he tried to make a tiny spark in his hand. It was going to be something simple since it was so close, but he might as well try it. After performing the handseal, he focused his chakra to his hand and tried to create a small spark on it. It took a bit of time to try to focus his chakra to something that wasn’t touching him, but it worked after a bit.

Needing to send it out farther, he decided to send it to the grass that was a little bit ahead of him. Performing the ox handseal, he focused his chakra to the grass. He was still having trouble, so he pointed to it slightly. This was just to get a small amount to seem to shoot out of his hand. Almost as soon as he pointed, a spark formed. This meant that he would have to keep doing this, but work it in a way that would provide less chakra from his hand.

Performing the ox handseal again, Tieren pointed toward the same spot on the grass, trying to send out less chakra. It came up almost instantly once again, and this was with less chakra. He then performed the ox handseal again, and pointed to the same spot, trying to send out as little chakra as possible from his hand, and just focusing his chakra that was around him. Again, the spark came instantly.

Now that he was getting better at that, he needed to do distance. He noticed a tree that was standing up, somewhat close to the tree that he had knocked over. Performing the ox handseal, he focused his chakra and then concentrated. Soon after, a spark formed on the tree, meaning that the distance part was down too. The only way that this spark would perform damage however, is if it was combined with either oil, or fire. So he had to try this last bit.

Summoning up a single water clone, he directed it to the tree that he had knocked down. When it was standing in position, Tieren swiftly struck it with his staff, and it reverted back to water. Then he performed the ox handseal, and focused his chakra at the water. When the spark formed, he saw the water get electrocuted, meaning that it had been a success. If he were to touch it, he would probably have gotten severly injured. Either way, his training was done. He needed to report to the Raikage’s office to let him know that he was off to the Chuunin exams. Putting the scrolls back in his pack, he would stop at the village library, and drop them off before heading to the office.

Effect: The signature move of the Nara family, this jutsu allows the user to control their own shadow and merge it with their opponent's shadow, combining them. This links the movements of the user with the target; the target is subsequently forced to make any movement the user makes. It is an extremely versatile technique, as the user can contract and change the shape of their shadow, potentially grabbing multiple targets at once. The degree to which the user's shadow can be stretched is limited by its total surface area.

Drawback: Must Be Learned Multiple times in order to truly achieve something grand. Must hold Rat hand seal until the technique connects with the targets shadow.
Description: Using the shadows of other objects, the user can extend their shadow beyond its normal range. The amount of time for which an opponent can be held is limited by the user's chakra, since the user must constantly maintain the jutsu. The jutsu is also more difficult to maintain at greater ranges or for multiple opponents, since the user's shadow must be stretched constantly. At closer ranges, it requires considerably less effort on the user's part. Additionally, the target can force their way free with enough effort, though the amount of effort required to do so is considerable. There are two tables or understandings for this technique that consists of the Difficulty class of the User as well as the Opponent, and as to how far the user is capable of using this technique. When first learned the user is only capable of using this technique at a distance of Ten meters. Each higher Rank archived, the user is capable of extending the shadow another five meters. The user must first however, learn each rank a certain amount of times before then next rank is obtainable. The C rank version must be learned five times total. At which point the ditance is upgraded to "B" Rank training and now extends ten meters each time trained. This version must be learned 3 times total. The "A" Rank version, extends the range to Seventy meters, and every additional "A" Rank training extends it another ten meters. This technique caps out at 100 meters. The user is capable of making their shadow split and by doing so takes up the distance of the total form of the original technique. This means that if a user has this technique to where they can use thirty meters and wishes to make this technique split to three shadows the maximum distance is ten meters per shadow.

Difficulty on Escaping: Escaping the Kagemane is a tricky art for some, easier for others. Depending on your Stamina and Difficulty class depends on how well the opponent can escape the Kagemane. The Kagemane is held for a Certain time frame depending on Rank of the technique learned. "C" Rank can be held for 18 seconds before it breaks no matter what. "B" Rank 36 seconds, "A" Rank 54 Seconds. For every difficulty class the user is above the opponent, add another five seconds. If the opponent for every difficulty class above th user, subtract five seconds. If the Opponent captured is a Taimaster, subtract 15 seconds additionally. If the opponent is a Tai specialist, subtract 5 additional seconds. If the opponent is a Taijutsu No specialist, leave it as is. After doing the math, the amount of turns held will be apparent.

It was finally time. After the meeting with Kana, and receiving the scroll with the Nara clan jutsu, Tieren ran off toward his usual training area. While there, Tieren looked over the scroll. In order to use any of the techniques, one technique needed to be learned. That was the art of actually controlling the shadow and capturing his opponent in it. It would also allow for controlling the opponent when they were captured. The clanfs techniques were truly wonderful, and pleased Tieren. So it was finally timec time to train.

Looking over the scroll, he focused on the handseals needed in order to do this. At the end of the string, the rat handseal needed to be held in order for it to fully work. So, going over the handseals with himself, not focusing on the shadow, Tieren got them down shortly after. It was the most basic of things to do in training, but it needed to be done.

Looking at the scroll again, he noticed that it required an immense amount of concentration in order for the shadow to be controlled, and also that he must train in it a bunch in order to increase the range of his shadow. But for now, he would only work on it at a limit of 10 meters. It was good starting point. He would increase it later on, but for now, this was where he would start.

Now to actually work on the jutsu. Forming the handseals, Tieren held the rat handseal, and focused his chakra to his own shadow. He then tried to control it, and get it to move around. Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried, he couldnft move the shadow. It just sat there like it usually does, only moving due to the change of light. But Tieren was not disheartened. It was the first attempt, so he had figured as much.

He had to reread over the scroll, trying to make sure he was doing it correctly. Unfortunately, not much else was told. He just needed to work harder. Closing his eyes, Tieren removed the thoughts from his mind. Then he performed the handseals, stopping on the rat handseal, and holding it. Then he poured chakra into his shadow.

Keeping a great amount of concentration on it, Tieren focused on moving his shadow. After a bit of concentrating, Tieren noticed it seem to quiver a bit. It wasnft moving outward, and wouldnft be of any effect as was now. But at least he was able to move it a bit. It was a start, but he needed to finish it. And as it was now, he had a ways to go.

Keeping his head clear, Tieren formed the handseals again. Holding the rat handseal, chakra was poured into the shadow. It had quivered a bit before, but could he get it to do more then that this time? Focusing on his shadow, Tieren tried to move it outward. fCome onf Tieren thought. Just then, his shadow seemed to move a bit more, forming a very small point at the end. He was getting it a bit better, but he still had to get it to go. The most he moved it wasc an inchc He was trying for 10 meters. fThis is going to take some timecf He thought.

Washing himself off a bit in a lake nearby, Tieren prepared himself for the jutsu again. Removing his weapons, he wanted to lighten his weight a bit. Then he formed the handseals, and concentrated his chakra. He needed to get better then this. Focusing on his shadow, Tieren wanted it to move more then an inchc. So he pushed it out. After a while of trying, it finally moved again, this time a bit farther, but not even a foot farther.

Things were starting to get frustrating. He knew he was going to need some help with this. But he didnft want to ask Kana to help. Perhaps his Drijedo master would be able to help him? After getting his shadow to move a foot, he would head down there, but for now he had to get this to work. Forming the handseals, Tieren focused his chakra to his shadow, and tried to get it to move. It didnft take as long this time, but only moved about 6 inches. He was progressing, but he still had work to do.

Forming the handseals one more time, Tieren focused his chakra a lot, and tried sending out his shadow as far as possible. After a short period of time, his shadow started to extend outward, finally making it to at least a foot. He was still only just starting, especially since he was trying for 10 meters, but at least he made it a foot. Now he gathered his things and ran toward the village, needing to speak with his drijedo master.

Knocking on the door of the Drijedo dojo, Tieren asked for Master Oplieate. "What can I help you with, my student?" He said. Tieren gave a quick bow. "I need to speak with you in private." Tieren responded. Walking to a private area of the dojo, Tieren said "I am working on the techniques of the Nara clan. Unfortunately, my training is not going to well. I can only move my shadow a foot away. Can you assist me?" A smile came from his master. "Why yes, I can help you. Come along." He said

"First, I want you to clear your mind. Remove all thoughts from your mind. Do it thoroughly." His master said. Tieren closed his eyes, and did as he was told. "Now, Picture a shadow, your shadow, as it is right now, in a plain form. Not moving, just sitting there." Tieren did so, and waited for further instruction. "Now, picture it moving forward, toward my shadow. It won't do anything physically, but you need to see it in your mind first."

While he was told to do this, Tieren didn't know how it would move. Then he thought back to the chuunin exams, and the way that Kurenai's shadow moved. She was a part of the Nara clan. Keeping in mind how it moved, Tieren pictured his shadow moving in that way. He stretched his shadow out to reach his master, who was about 5 meters away. It was only a picture in his mind, but he realized how it needed to work. "I understand now." Tieren said.

"Very well then, try the technique now. I will move closer so it doesn't have to move as far. How far do you want it to go when you are done training?" His master said. "10 meters for now. Ill increase it later on. But for now, I want the max to be 10 meters." Tieren responded. "Very well. Lets begin." Said Master Oplieate. Forming the handseals, ending on the rat handseal, Tieren focused his chakra toward his shadow, keeping the image of his shadow moving in his mind.

Then he started working on it to stretch out and reach toward his master, who was now only about a meter away. Keeping himself calm, and focused, Tieren kept the picture in his mind, adjusting it to his master's actual position. Forcing his shadow forward, it quivered a bit, and then started to move forward along the floor. It was moving slowly, but it kept going.

After a bit of time had passed, it met with his master's shadow, and Tieren could feel a small sense of control over his master. Startled a bit, he moved his hand up, releasing the rat handseal, but the jutsu held. His master's hand was also up. Holding it a bit longer, he moved his legs, his arms, and his head. He then released the jutsu, making his shadow return to him. "Congratulations. You have done it. Now to increase the length, yes?" His master said. Tieren nodded, and took a quick drink of water.

He had pushed his shadow one meter so far. He had 9 more to go, and it had to be done quickly, not waiting 5 minutes for it to move. His master stepped back another meter. This time, Tieren pictured the shadow moving quickly. It took a bit of time, but he eventually got the picture just right. Then he formed the handseals, calmed himself and prepared to try this again.

Holding the rat handseal, Tieren focused only on his shadow launching out toward his opponent. Shortly after, his shadow moved, much faster then it was before. Not as fast as Kurenai's moved, but it still moved pretty fast. While he may have gotten it to gain speed, he was having trouble getting it to reach his master. So he made it go a bit slower, and allowed for it to reach his master before releasing it completely.

"Im going to move back to 1 meter away. Work on the speed for now, and then we can go back getting distance and speed together." Tieren's master said. A short nod was given as Tieren formed the handseals and focused on his shadow when he hit the rat handseal. Forcing it out, it launched toward his master, reaching it within seconds. "A short rush, yes, but you need to do speed and distance together." His master added, moving back to 2 meters. "Try again" He added.

Forming the handseals, Tieren focused on his shadow once more. The picture entered Tieren's mind. Just then, Tieren launched his shadow out toward his master. He kept the chakra flow going, and it took only a few seconds to reach his master. He was starting to get the hang of it, and also keeping up the speed with the distance. It started to slow down a bit at the end of it, so Tieren knew he would have to work a bit harder. So he would try once more before taking a quick break.

Forming the handseals, Tieren held the rat handseal and focused on his shadow. Launching it out as fast as he could, Tieren made it to his master's shadow within seconds, and not having to have it slow down at all. He certainly got the hang of it. Now to reach the length of 10 meters. Taking a quick break and drink of water, Tieren was ready to try again.

Finally ready to continue, Tieren let his master know. "Very well. You are capable of moving it 2 meters, and at a fast rate. First off, I want to try and see you move it as far as possible at a slow rate, and then as far as possible at a fast rate. Okay?" His master said. Tieren agreed, and formed the handseals, ending on the rat handseal. Pushing his chakra to his shadow, Tieren tried pushing out, slowly, and far.

After a bit of working with it, he got it to go 7 meters outward. He then ended the jutsu, and formed the handseals again. Ending on the rat handseal, he moved his chakra to his shadow, and forced it out a quick rate. Watching it move fast, it only went to about 5 meters. "7 meters slow, and 5 meters fast. Not a bad start. You need to be able to do both, However, that isn't all. This technique can also move. So you need to control your shadow depending on where your opponent is." Master Oplieate said.

With a quick nod, Tieren said "Very well. Then can you help me out?" "Certainly" His master replied. "Focus the picture in your head. A slow moving shadow, going 10 meters, then a fast moving shadow going 10 meters. Try that first." He added. Tieren closed his eyes, and focused on such a picture in his head. After awhile of thinking, and getting it pictured just right in his head, Tieren opened his eyes, and got right back into it.

Forming the handseals, Tieren focused his chakra to his shadow, and started moving it out at a slow rate. Inch by inch, foot by foot, the shadow stretched down the floor. His master stood down at the end, 10 meters away from Tieren. After a minute or so, it reached his master, and straightened out a bit more. Moving his body a bit, he watched his master do the same thing.

After he saw that, he released the jutsu. Having done it at a slow rate, Tieren needed to push it forward, in a straight line, at a fast rate. It was going to be a little tougher as he was 2 meters less on the fast rate then the slow rate. Focusing on moving it at a fast rate, 10 meters forward, Tieren formed the handseals and sent his chakra down to his shadow, and focused it greatly.

Looking at his master, Tieren kept all focus on his shadow. He would have to work on it later, but for now, he had to at least get it down there. Forcing it forward, he watched it start to shoot out toward his master. 'Keep going...' He thought, watching it go down. 5 meters, 7 meters, 8 meters, 9 and a half meters. He was almost there. And with another second, he did it. It caught his master. Moving a bit, to make sure it had done what he wanted, Tieren released the jutsu.

"Now that you have done both of those, you need to be able to direct your focus on your surroundings as well. After that, there are two more things you will have to do. For now, focus on my helper over there to your side" Master Oplieate said. With a nod, Tieren formed the handseals. He then focused his chakra to his shadow, and started moving it forward at a fast rate. Once it was on the move, Tieren directed his focus toward the helper, while keeping some focus on his shadow. After a bit, the shadow reached his master.

"Good, you can direct your focus. Now for the last two things. One is to make it curve while it is moving. So try that." Master Oplieate said as he moved more toward the side. Standing where he was, Tieren formed the handseals, focused on his shadow, and started moving it. Keeping some focus on his master, he started controlling his shadow, and moving it toward his master. It was curving toward him, and this was what Tieren wanted.

After it had reached his master, he released it and was ready for the final thing to learn. "The final thing you need to work on is splitting your shadow. With this technique, you are capable of splitting it and trapping two people at once. However, your distance you can move the shadow is cut by half. So while you can move it 10 meters, you can only move it 5 meters if split in two, and about 3 and a third meters if split in three. We will do both." His master said.

Nodding, one of the helpers came over. Forming the handseals, Tieren focused toward his shadow. Both of the people moved to within 5 meters of Tieren. Launching his shadow out, he split it, one going left, one going right. Shortly after, he caught both the helper and his master in the jutsu. With a sigh, Tieren could feel himself slowly running low on chakra, but he had one final thing that he had to do.

Another helper soon came by. The three stood within 3 meters of Tieren. Forming the handseals, Tieren focused on his shadow. Shooting it out, he split it 3 ways. One went left, one went right, and the last went straight forward, all came at him like they were going to attack him, but Tieren stopped them in their tracks. Controlling them, he made them drop their weapons, and stand normally. Releasing the jutsu, Tieren said "Thank you for your help. Now if you'll excuse me." Tieren gave a slight nod, and was off to find something else to do. He would return to his training shortly however.

Honor the West Wind (Western Sky Stance)

Effect: The user holds the polearm in one of the most deadly stances of Sky. Though it looks like Heaven’s “Mantis” stance, this stance involves much more slashing.
Special: Naginata (Or other polearms).
Drawback: None.
Description: The practitioner will stand with his/her right side facing the opponent. He/she will then crouch with his/her legs spread apart with both feet pointing away from the body. One hand should be gripping the end of the polearm, the other should be gripping a little above the middle. Afterwards, he/she will raise the polearm so the blade is pointed skyward and the pole is slightly above the shoulders with the tip aimed straight at the opponent’s neck.

Standing in the Tensora Dojo, Tieren said ”I am ready to learn a new stance, a new wind. Preferably one that is stronger then the other”[/color] Su Feng looked at Tieren, seeing the determination. ”One of the few swayed by my beauty… Very well. I shall teach you another wind. This one is of the Western Sky. While not the one I have mastered, I can teach it to you. Though it is one of the more deadly stances.” She said as she moved the two to a training room.

”This one is known as Honor the West Wind. First off… Stand with your right side facing me.” Su said as Tieren did so. His double-bladed naginata was in his hand, the guards strapped down so they wouldn’t fly off. He turned slightly right. ”A little bit more… And when you are done, crouch down a bit, your feet spread out a bit, and facing away from you.” She said again as Tieren nodded. As she said it, Su got into the same stance

Tieren turned a bit more to the right, and crouched down. She motioned for him to crouch a bit lower, which he did. His legs were then spread apart, far enough to make it comfortable, but close enough together so he would still be able to move quickly if he needed to. ”Excellent. Now to add the Naginata. Grip it with one hand at the base, near your back blade, and the other one a little above the middle.” She said.

Tieren grabbed the metal right in front of the wood, having to improvise these stances for his own use as most Naginatas had one blade, while his naginata had two blades. His left hand was put in the middle of the pole as he waited for further instruction. ”Now then… Raise the naginata, pointing the blade slightly skyward and above the shoulders. When complete, the blade should be pointing directly at my neck.” She said.

It was working on a stance that Tieren did not like to do. But considering they were the basis of all techniques, he had to learn it. So he moved the rear blade over his shoulder, pointing it slightly up as it pointed at Su’s neck. ”Well done. That is the Honor the West Wind stance. However, I cannot count it as learned until you do it instantaneously. An opponent will not wait for you to get into such a stance in a battle” She said.

Nodding at this, Tieren stood as normal. And then, he quickly got into the stance. He turned his body to the right, crouched slightly, spread his legs apart a bit, all the while, holding his naginata with his right hand at the base, directly above the rear blade, and his left hand in the middle. His blade was lifted up, put over his shoulder, and pointed at Su. ”Well done… Lets learn the alternate stance next.” She said, pleased with his work.

Appease the West Wind (The “Crouching Tiger”) (Alternative Stance)

Skill: Taijutsu
Effect: The user holds the polearm in a close combat/long ranged polearm hybrid stance. This is an extremely brutal stance.
Special: Naginata (Or other polearms).
Drawback: This stance is difficult to use because one must hold a polearm (already a very heavy weapon with two hands) with one hand at the very end of it, and as it is always in the left hand (usually the non-dominant hand), average people don’t normally use this.
Description: The practitioner will stand with his/her right side facing the opponent. He/she will then crouch with his/her legs spread apart with both feet pointing away from the body. The left hand should be gripping the end of the polearm (which is held high over the head), while the right hand is extended toward the opponent’s neck with a slight bend in the elbows. The right hand’s fingers are curled and locked as if the user aims to choke the opponent with a thrust of the “tiger claw.”
Limit: Must learn from one of the five Tensora Masters.

”Now then… We will train in the next stance. It’s the alternative stance for the West Wind. It is known as Appease the West Wind. However… I warn you… This is one of the hardest stances you will ever learn in your life. The reason? You have to hold the naginata with only one hand. Considering your right hand is your dominant hand, its even worse since you need to hold it with your left hand.” Su said to Tieren as he nodded his head. He was ready for a challenge.

”Very well… Get into the Honor the West Wind stance without the pole-arm section. Just rest your arms for a second.” Tieren nodded at the command, turning his body to the right slightly, crouching down slightly, with his legs spread apart a bit, and his feet pointing away from his body. This was the basis for the Honor the West Wind stance, and most likely, the Appease the West Wind stance.

”Now then… This is where the stance gets difficult. Your right hand is extended outward, with a slight bend in the elbow. Your fingers are curled and locked, in the shape of what is known as a Tiger Claw.” She said, demonstrating. Tieren had heard of Tiger Claw before, but never actually had the chance to use it. Though he assumed that this would be the easiest of the harder parts.

Extending his right arm out, bent slightly at the elbow, he curled his fingers slightly, locking them in place. ”Your fingers need to be bent a little more. That’s too much of an actual curl.” Su said, showing him a real tiger claw. Nodding once more, Tieren curled his fingers in a different fashion, showing the right way to do it. Now he was successful.

”Now onto the harder part of this stance. You need to hold the naginata in your left hand, near the rear blade, and high above your head. It takes massive strength, and yours might be a bit more difficult with having another blade attached to it. Observe.” She said as she held it above her head, assume the correct stance. Tieren grabbed it with one hand. He was pretty strong, but he knew he would need to work at it in order to be able to control it.

Grabbing the end with his left hand, he flicked it into the air and held it in the correct stance. Though the naginata was dipping slightly, he was doing well for the first try. Lifting it up a bit, Su said ”As with the last one, you need to do it instantaneously.” He then stood up straight. Within a second, he had assumed the stance: Turned right slightly, crouched down, legs apart, feet pointed away from the body, right hand out in a Tiger Claw, and naginata held at the end, in his left hand, high above his head. ”Excellent. Now to work on the strength in your hands. You’re going to need it for the rest of these techniques.” Su said. Tieren was ready to perform at the best of his ability.

Description: The user will practice finger strength through raised finger pushups and lifting weights with one finger at a time. Other forms of training finger strength could also be included. At the end of the training, the user should be able to crush a rock into gravel by simply gripping it.

”Now that you have the basis of the alternate stance, you need to get more strength in your hands. To hold a naginata with one hand can get difficult, so you must work at it. Over there is a work station that you can use. Start with push-ups, move onto weights, and then we will see from there.” Su said as Tieren nodded, walking over to the work station.

’Hmm… Finger push-ups… Finger weights… This is going to prove difficult…’ Tieren thought, unstrapping his shock glove and pressure gauntlet from his hands. He then laid down on the mat. He was pretty strong in his hands, but he figured that this would help more. Simple push-ups were done to start with, but then he moved on to pushing up with the tips of all of his fingers at once.

Once he had gotten better at doing that, he took away his pinkies. After each time he got better at doing these, he took away another finger. By the time he had reached just his index finger, he needed to do it with his other fingers. And as one would suspect, his pinky was the hardest of them all… But eventually, he was able to do it effectively.

Once he had completed that stage, he did it with just one finger at a time, rather then the same finger on both hands. It took some getting used to… But when he completed it, he felt like he could do much more with just the fingers alone. It took some effort, but now that it was complete, he had to get moving on. All this prep-work to get ready for it was simply annoying.

’Alright… Time to get to work on these weights.’ He thought as he grabbed one of the weights. It was pretty light to hold in his entire hand. But once he tied it to his finger, and let go, it was a different story. Unprepared, his hand dipped a little bit, but he pulled it back up, moving on to the actual exercises. It was a simple motion, just lifting of the finger, but it was repetitive, and apparently necessary.

He moved onto the other fingers, increasing the weight as he went along. It got increasingly more difficult as he did it, but when he was complete, Su Feng said ”Come over here.” Tieren did as he was told. ”Assume the Appease the West Wind stance.” He also did such a thing, finding himself holding the naginata a lot easier. ”Didn’t I tell you it would make things easier? All you need to do now is to take this rock in your right hand… and crush it with your bare hand.” She said. Tieren was slightly confused, but caught the rock in a tiger claw and started to close his hand down tight. A short time after, it crushed in his hand. ”Seems your training is complete. Now to move onto the next part of the west wind… the actual strikes.” She said. Tieren bowed, going over to strap his shock glove and pressure gauntlet back on. He was now ready to get more in depth with the West Wind.

Description: Aiming at the neck, the practitioner will side step toward him/her and rest the palm on top of the end of the polearm. Pushing the end, he/she will stab the polearm into the opponent’s neck.
Limit: Must know Honor the West Wind.

Su looked to Tieren as he was finally able to lift things just right. But it was time to get back to training the techniques of the original fighting style. They would get back to the secondary stance later on. ”Well done, Tieren. Now… We are going to go back to the Honor the West Wind stance. So get into the stance, and we can begin.” She said, waiting for him to do so.

As he walked back over to her, Tieren returned to the stance. ”Now then. This is one of the attacks of the Primary west wind stance. It is simply known as the West Wind Stab. It is quite simple. Putting your hand on the end of the Naginata, you thrust it forward to stab the neck.” She said before demonstrating it. Once the demonstration was over, she said ”For you, it is different since it is a double bladed naginata. Grab the end right before the back blade, and thrust it forward. It will take a bit more energy, but it was your choice.”

Tieren shook his head slightly, smiling. Sure, it was his choice, he wanted to do that. So he took the consequence. Su stood there to watch him as he performed the west wind stab. Keeping himself in the stance, he moved his hand toward the end of his staff. It wasn’t entirely comfortable and Tieren couldn’t figure out why. Either way, he moved his hand forward, attempting the stab, but unfortunately… It didn’t come that easily.

”In order to begin, you must take a step forward. It helps you to keep your balance, and it also makes things slightly more comfortable. Try it again.” Su said to Tieren, giving him some more instruction. Thinking on what was said, Tieren made his way into the stance again. It was certainly odd. But he then moved his hand to the end of his naginata again. He then thrusted it forward. It felt a bit more comfortable, but still was missing something.

”Well obviously it needs to be faster then that. A 1 legged donkey could dodge that.” Su said, laughing. Shaking his head, Tieren returned to the stance. Just then, he let his hand move down to the end of his naginata. Calming his body down just a slight bit, Tieren thrust his naginata toward the air. It was faster, but Tieren could tell that it was certainly not fast enough.

This attack was a close range attack for the use of his naginata. It took some time to do, and this was something that Tieren could see on his own. Thinking of a way he could change it for something more personal, Tieren took a step forward while thrusting his naginata forward… Unfortunately he forgot to move his hand to the end of his naginata before thrusting it, so it obviously didn’t work right.

Not even giving Su a chance to speak, Tieren returned to his stance. Closing his eyes, Tieren took a deep breath. He visualized himself performing the correct attack. A step forward, his hand moving down to the end of the naginata, and thrusting forward at a very fast speed. It was certainly an effective way of possibly defeating someone at the very end of the fight.

Moving his hand down to the end of his naginata, Tieren took a step forward before thrusting his naginata. It was fast, and certainly better done overall, but he still needed to get some final touches on it. He still needed to find something that would make it an attack of his own since he had a very unique weapon. So he returned to the stance.

Finally realizing what he would do to make it better, Tieren realized that he couldn’t leave the guards on his Naginata, so he broke the stance and held his naginata out in front of him. Quickly spinning it around, the guards launched off to the other sides of the room. He then took the stance once more before moving his hand to the end of his naginata. Moving his hand around the ring of his naginata, he kept his hand around the very end of his blade. It made thrusting the naginata forward a lot faster as he was pushing from the end.

Keeping his hand where it was, he took a step forward and thrust his naginata forward. It was nearly good, aside from the fact that he almost threw his naginata out of his hands. ”Make sure you’re keeping control of the naginata.” Su said to Tieren. Nodding, Tieren took the stance away before preparing for, hopefully, his final attempt at this.

Keeping the stance, Tieren moved his hand to around the outer ring of his naginata, keeping his hand around the very edge/not sharp part of his naginata. With a quick step forward, and making sure his naginata was in control, he thrusted his naginata forward in a very quick stab. ”Well done. Let’s move on.” Su said to Tieren. Smiling, Tieren bowed before ready to go…

Effect: Allows the user to attach a specific handseal formation onto a specific note so that they user may play or sing the note in order to gain the effect of performing the handseal.
Special: Singing or playing a note on an instrument.
Drawback: The user is required to sing or hold the instrument's note for a certain amount of time before the effect of the handseal formation can be considered performed. These must be learned each time for each individual Release. This means that if a user wishes to learn this for the Fire Release, they must have the Fire Release and learn this for the Fire Release. If a user has the Figment Perception the user must learn this for the Figment Perception, and have the Fighment Perception. Must be learned for every type of instrument. This makes it where a user can not go into a Guitar, and automatically be capable of doing the same with a Flute.
Description: By first learning how to mold chakra with the use of handseals, a shinobi who focuses upon sound-based techniques can train themselves to achieve this same effect by playing or singing a note for a specific amount of time. Each note has its own handseal significance, and the user must learn how to attach significance to each note before the note can be used in place of handseals. At "C" Rank, the user must hold the note for the length of performing three normal handseals before a note handseal is considered formed. At "B" rank, the user must hold the note for for the length of performing two normal handseals before a note handseal is considered formed. At "A" rank, the user is capable of performing a staccato rhythm, barely holding the note for the length of one normal handseal before having the note handseal formation considered complete. This means that each note consists of a Handseal.
Limit: Must have the Sound Release. Must have the corresponding Release, or Perception in order to learn.

[0/20 | Being learned on the Ocarina for the Lightning Release]

Pulling out his ocarina, Tieren stared at it for a bit. He bought it awhile ago just for fun, but perhaps there was more that he could do with it… After looking at it, he decided to run home for a bit to figure something out. When he arrived, he went to his brother’s piano and started looking through his materials. When he had finished looking through it, he managed to find a piece of paper describing a way to use instruments to perform jutsu. It was a way to make a specific note correspond to a specific handseal. It wasn’t exactly what he was expecting, but it was something.

Taking the paper and reading it over some more, he realized that there were 3 ranks to do it, almost like a beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The Beginner method stated that for it to work, you would have to hold each note for the length it would take to form 3 handseals. For the intermediate method, it was for the length of 2 handseals. And finally, for the advanced method, it was a simple staccato rhythm. Obviously, you would have to work your way up. But how would he be able to do this?

He set his ocarina down and formed 3 handseals. It took a short period of time to do. So that was how long he would have to hold a note in order for a handseal to actually be made on the Ocarina? Hmm… He continued reading over the paper. It stated a step-by-step training method. It also stated which note corresponded to which handseal. But it said that the first step to using what was called the Melody handseals was learning how to feed the chakra through your instrument.

Taking his instrument, he placed it to his lips and put his fingers on the correct keys. He then started to focus his chakra from his hand as well as his mouth and tried sending it through the instrument. It was more difficult then trying to form chakra into a ninjutsu technique, but it was a challenge, and that was something Tieren liked. The chakra, however, did not seem to want to go through the instrument.

Staring at his ocarina again, he wondered what would happen if he held a note while trying to do this. So he placed it to his lips once more, gathered chakra into his fingers and his mouth and then he blew into the instrument. A note was formed and it filled the room as he continued to move the chakra about. A little bit of it managed to seep into his instrument, but it wasn’t enough for it to be considered a handseal.

He read over the paper again and reminded himself that for every note learned at the beginner level, it had to be held for the length of 3 handseals. So perhaps that meant that if he wanted for it to work, he would have to play different notes after the length of time it took for him to form 3 handseals. It was worth a shot, though he wasn’t exactly sure how well it would work.

Placing his ocarina to his lips, the chakra forming throughout his fingers and his mouth, he played one note. The chakra seeped into the instrument, but then he switched to a different note. The chakra seemed to be moving more into the instrument. He proceeded to finish his scale at the time, and when he was finished, the chakra was swirling around the ocarina. He could feel that if he had mastered this, the notes would actually have done something… if in the correct order.

He then looked at the paper again. Go figure NOW he sees that it tells him to try playing more then one note when first starting. It then says to continue by increasing the flow of chakra as some jutsus only require one handseal to perform. With the melody handseals, any Ninjutsu and genjutsu can be produced, but it needs to be done correctly.

Taking the advice of the paper into mind, he placed the ocarina in the correct position and started molding the chakra in his mouth and around his fingers. But before playing, he started to cause the chakra flow to move around much differently. The chakra was flowing faster and stronger, and had already started to seep into the instrument as much as it had when he had first played a note. He then actually played a note, and the chakra pushed in a bit more. Another note caused it to be almost ready, and one more note finished it off. Certainly a difficult maneuver, but it had to be done.

Looking over the paper, it said to keep increasing the flow and the speed until the chakra is moving throughout the instrument with one note. So he held the ocarina correctly and placed it in his mouth, the chakra already circulating. He pushed it into the ocarina and kept pushing it until it couldn’t go any further before he finally played a note. This time, after the first note was played, the chakra was already swirling around the instrument. He removed the ocarina from his mouth and sighed. Step one of the three step process was complete. Now to move on.
