Maji walked through the bizarre bazaar once again, a new shopping list in hand, his visage obscured as usual by his robe and hat. This time, he needed to find some tools suitable for working with complicated electronics. The problem was, he had almost no clue what he was looking for. Some tiny screwdrivers, maybe some needle nose pliers. Soldering tools would be good, nay, required, with some things.
After all, his goal of the day was to assemble a kit, perhaps even a specialized device to help him construct little tools and gadgets like flints and even gas masks. How a flint could be constructed with the same techniques and equipment as a crafting kit or a gasmask was beyond Maji, but whatever. Logic? What was that? Why COULDN'T he use the same techniques and equipment to build a crafting kit as a flint?
Meh, logic played little part in this universe where 8 year old children could shoot fireballs at people. Logic? What was that? But that's enough off trackitude. Maji walked around town, looking for the components. The first thing he needed was a pair of screwdrivers, one Flathead and one Phillips. Those were easy enough to obtain. How, one might ask? Simple, they were almost literally a dime a dozen down at the hardware store. As such, he looked them over, and opted for a selection of the more fine ones available.
It was always frustrating, however, looking over so many different varieties of the same tool, and yet never coming across anything he could actually use. Not anything that any 'normal' person could afford. Then again, he had already ranted on the subjectivity of 'normalcy'. With a frustrated sigh, he payed for his tools and left, heading to get something for lunch. Even with everything he had learned over time, it was still frustrating at how difficult it was just to figure out what he would need to craft a certain type of item. Even more so, given that for whatever reason, he couldn't use the same tools to craft both, say, a pair of technologically-enhanced goggles, and a gas mask.
Bah Humbug, that's all he could say as he got himself a pasty and found a nice shady spot under an out of the way tree to eat it. Sure, he could craft a gas mask and a flint with the same materials and equipment, but he couldn't do the same with one of those 'Air Trek' things or a pair of blooming goggles. Come to think of it, he could also craft a pair of goggles with the same skills, equipment, and so on that it took to put together a compact wireless radio. Go figure. Whatever. with somethings, it made sense. Like an electric lantern and torch. Just put something shiney and reflective around the lightsource in the shape of a cone pointing away from you, and voila, you have a flashlight. Not too hard.
