Effect: Some characters are schooled in the art of careful observation and are able to discern Skills and other Abilities of a target.

Description: Some characters are schooled in the art of careful observation. Thus, even without the aid of Chakra, they can observe an individual and attempt to glean a valuable piece of information about them. This ability requires a skill check and approximately one hour of observation for each ability studied. For example, if a user watched a man cutting wood for an hour, they could make a "Know Ability" skill check. If successful, they would learn that the man has 10 movements per round. The user can apply this skill to nearly all statuses and abilities, as well as Skill Level Associated with a character. If you are Schooled in Observation you gain a +10% synergy bonus with Know Ability checks. By Observing for 1 hour this is considered as a Trivial Difficulty. Shorter the observation increases the difficulty.

Trivial User observes for 1 hour.
Easy User observes for half an hour.
Average User observes for 1 minute.
Difficult User observes for 1 round.
Very Difficult User Observes at a Glance.


Each time learned user gets 1 die roll to increase the skill.

The pine forest was thick but the smell was what was really intoxicating. The thick, sweet scent filled my nostrils and lungs, a completely different scent then the city, and it was beautiful to bathe in. The pines did not shed their leaves in the autumn like other trees yet their green needles covered the ground, creating a carpet of fallen pine needles that soaked the ground in their fallen nutrients and cushioned all footsteps, including mine. I carried with me no items, other than the headband of my city around my neck. I was draped in black robes which hung about me like shadows stretched under a sunset sky. Gloves and boots, black and rubber, covered my hands and feet. I skulked among the pines like a hunting dog; but I did not hunt, only watched.

Under my bird-like mask, my red eyes glowed. Some ~170 meters away, quite a distance for any normal sight-seer, I carefully observed two females as they seemed to be on the hunt. One was tall, or at least above average for a woman, and was dark skinned. Some presence could be seen in her blood which placed her in a clan, but I did not recognize which one for I had not met one of her clan before. I would observe her carefully as she walked and tried to gather more information. I was adept, to say the least, at noticing small things about people but I did not have the aptitude for noticing what exactly shinobi, or, at least, those dedicated to certain martial disciplines, were disciplined in. She carried a plethora of typical ninja weapons, which, I considered, did not help me because even those unskilled in physical combat carried those, and a book which...piqued my interest about her interests. It was just my luck that she carried no weapons because that probably gave me a hint of perhaps, in fact, she was not a taijutsu user at all. I was unsure of my conclusion but figured that that was all that I could understand from this particular person at the time.

I moved on to the second lady, who also did not have a sound headband. In fact, she did not appear to identify as a ninja at all. She held a presence in her blood, but it was weak, and likely unused or unnoticed. I learned a lot from these two simple facts but decided to look on. She wore a scythe, a double-bladed one at that, and seemed to handle it keenly. Several meters away from their position I noticed a thick scar upon the bark of a tree which I would identify as being hers. The weapons looked heavy and I had to assume from it that she was skilled in Taijutsu. How skilled, I could not tell, but she was proficient enough to wield that scythe easily. She wore an ornate rapier under he robe which gave me another clue which further made me believe that, she was indeed, a taijutsu user. I had come to the complete conclusion that weapons were a good indicator of skill in taijutsu but I would have to ruminate on the subject further to learn more of knowing one's ability from just their looks. I continued to follow them, nevertheless.

I would continue to stalk them from my safe distance of some ~175m away, being able to see them with ease with Tasukeru. I did not know their intentions but was eager to identify them, as I was with all humans I encountered, because they could be working on a way to undermine me. I would have to further investigate the situation.

To notice me would be an extremely difficult Observation check but you might be able to see a shifting figure a large distance away through the trees enough to see my presence. If not, I am to remain hidden.
