Character Depth
Personality:
You would never get through life without stepping in an ant pile or two. You could never get through life without spilling a little blood and making the tougher calls. Toko takes that to heart every day he wakes up. But to Toko, you might as well intentionally destroy the ants beneath you to make sure you don’t harm the more precious creatures that litter the ground. Human life to young Toko is as meaningful as that of an ant. We are all just dust in the wind, but Toko would like to stick around a little bit longer if he could. To that end, he will go above and beyond the call of duty he makes it out on top when the dust clears. Toko puts himself before all else, but makes sure to fly his native banner high to hide behind the false loyalty.
Toko being a Taijutsu Master, of course, means he is one for close combat, but he does not show aggression unless forced to. Violence is a means to an end, and Toko is more focused on exerting the least amount of effort to benefit him the most. As he nears his graduation and becoming a Genin, Toko sees violence and loss of life as the job description. What Toko looks forward to gaining is wealth and valor from his village. Things such as honor have no meaning to Toko in the least. Climbing the inner ranks of Sound is his number one priority right now.
Toko feels no attachment to fellow comrades, but he understands an allies’ death looks badly on him; only a true hindrance would need to be cut loose from the group. You would never hear him refer to an ally as ‘brother’, for example. He isn’t one for leisurely occasions like ‘hanging out’ with people that are serving him no real purpose. Frankly, Toko can be a ‘grumpy guss’ when he’s forced into any social situation. Labeling Toko anti-social would not be a stretch by any means. But Toko always makes sure to be respectful of his superiors whenever he is near them. He would never harm his chances of making a good impression on those above him.
Toko values silence and to him it is truly golden. On his free time not training or fulfilling tasks, he is off on walks around the village or on roof tops looking up at the sky. The only company he really enjoys is his own, unable to relate to many people. No one really makes Toko feel special or happy. He is also very defensive about his bladder condition that makes him prone to urinating suddenly at random. Toko frequently runs off to urinate, or change his clothes after wetting himself. He hopes this is something he can grow out of, but he just tries to deal with it and threaten those that taunt him.
Appearance:
Toko has long coal-colored hair with bangs that hang slightly over his eyes when he doesn’t brush them aside. The rest of his hair has far more length and reaches down to his waste just about. Toko’s hair is very thin and rough (probably because he doesn’t take proper care of it) to the touch. Depending on the circumstances, Toko will tie his hair back in a ponytail or just leave it flowing in the wind. But for the most part, Toko always tries to keep his hair secured when being physically active but lets his hang freely when in any kind of social setting.
Toko has very sharp features, so he is considered fortunate by most as they consider him to be somewhat attractive. His eyebrows the same shade of black as his hair, Toko’s brow is slightly dominant and protrudes over his eyes. His eyebrows are naturally thin and slanted – but not really. Toko takes great care to trim and spruce up his eyebrows. He may or may not be a pretty boy in denial. Toko’s eyes are surprisingly dark like the rest of his features, almost black in color. Paired with his sharp brow and dark eyes are his high cheek bones. Toko’s face is one that you stop and stare at. His lips are full and resemble a blooming rose in color, sharp contrast to his pale face. With a strong jaw line, Toko might not have to worry about getting a girlfriend.
Toko may be nine years of age, but do not let that determine his physique. Toko has started to dedicate himself to the pursuits of the body as a Taijutsu Master, and it’s – not really showing yet. But hey, don’t you dare call him weak! With a frail figure of a child, Toko is just starting to look a little toned. Either way, he is still a little guy with a height of 5’ 0. His pale body is one that might cause others to cringe if they aren’t into Stephenie Meyer’s latest work. The occasional muscle graces Toko’s body, otherwise overshadowed by his bony figure. Toko prefers to wear a long sleeve shirt that cuts off at his wrists paired with pants and light weight boots; of course they are all black in color. Yes, yes, yes – we can only it is a phase.
Background:
Almost ten years ago there was a couple like any other. The husband would wake up and make breakfast for his wife. The wife would help the husband get dressed for work and send him on his way. The husband would go on assignments and dream of one day killing any enemies his Kage deemed a threat. And – wait, what? This was a family of shinobi that dwelled in Otogakure, the village hidden in the Land of Sound. They were raised to one day become weapons for their village and country to strike down their enemies and secure peace. They knew bloodshed so others might never see it. Strike fast and strike hard, but leave no traces. Wield steel like it was lightning and resonate death like a symphony. This was what it meant to be a shinobi in Otogakure. This is what drove this family to wake up every day.
One night came like many before it where the husband pulled on his gear and sat his wife down. He explained he had a new assignment and that he received orders to leave that very night. His family asked no questions and he gave no answers. This was the cost the family paid for their way of life. The husband left and came back with souvenirs. Not. The father would never return to explain. A week later what was left of his remains were brought back the village. All they had to give his wife was his own headband he once wore around his forehead. The husband’s closest friend, Zurui, delivered it himself and swore that he tried his hardest to bring him back. He was leaping from tree to tree until he landed on a weak branch and fell to his death. Why do shinobi feel the need to do that? That is seriously dangerous. Someone might get killed! They were in hot pursuit of enemy combatants behind enemy lines, forced to leave his dead body behind.
The husband would never know that he was going to be a father. Zurui came around from time to time to help the widow with the chores, eventually Zurui got his from time to time. Come on, they are only human! Months passed and the widow went into labor, giving birth to a baby boy. But as the baby boy grasped at life as his mother sprang him into existence, the mother would see her own life stripped away. Zurui was panicking at the sight of another dear friend dying. Maybe Zurui should have taken her to a hospital. Hindsight is always 20/20. But try as he must, Zurui watched a widow become a mother and a child become an orphan. The widow’s last words were, “Don’t let this child become a predictable RP character…” And with those last words, the widow faded from this world and ceased to be.
All of a sudden Zurui was stuck in a room with a crying baby boy and a dead widow he use to hit up every now and again. Needless to say, this was a little awkward. Once he put himself back together, Zurui rushed the baby to the hospital and reported what had happened to officials. The baby was kept at the hospital until an orphanage decided to take him in. Zurui sure wasn’t going to take the kid in; he ain’t the daddy. The orphanage was named The Last Hope Orphanage, dedicated to taking in the children of shinobi that gave their lives serving the village, leaving behind children with no family or means of survival. The child was named Kutsuu Toko and given a home at the orphanage. The orphanage being located within Otogakure, they still expected these children to grow up and follow in their deceased parent’s footsteps. Buckle up, kiddies, you aren’t getting off that easy.
Toko began attending the Academy in Otogakure when he found out two things – he had a natural talent for Taijutsu and a severe bladder condition. Toko wasn’t exactly the popular student in class. In stressful social interactions, Toko has a strong urge to urinate and sometimes wets himself. Attending class and training did not cause a problem, but whenever he saw a crush or he had to speak to the class he would need to run to the bathroom in a hurry. But as he started to attend the Academy, Zurui would make another appearance in his life. Zurui kept a watchful eye over the little guy and had plans for him. Time would tell what those plans might be. Kutsuu Toko was nearing graduation from the Academy now. He is soon to become a Genin and tie the headband tightly to his forehead that he was born to wear. This kid was going to make his mark with his skill and mark his territory with his raging bladder! Let’s do this, Otogakure!
