The begining of something huge

Pax had been ready since the Takikage had suggested this mission to him. He was sure he had everything he needed and made sure everything was tied tightly. With his undivided attention on Shinji the second his question had hit Pax's ears, he got extremely excited. As a reply to Shinji, Pax had said " I'm completely ready, so lead the way." Confidence was displayed on his face and he had felt as if he could become someone important to the villagers and his fellow ninja.

He had understood that there would most likely be no battles but Pax was a precatious kid. He knew his life was going to be short but why make it shorter by not being able to protect himself? The boy, almost bursting with emotions had been anticipating this moment for a while. The only concern he has on his mind right now is that eventually there won't be any missions left. He wants to help the village as much as possible, but he doesn't realize yet that missions are never going to stop.

After walking down the main road for a few moments they reached a bunch of cottages and fields. Except 1 field had been almost completely empty. He was sure that it was the field they would be working on so he had pointed to the field and asked Shinji,"Is that the field that we are supposed to be working on?" While continuing down the road he noticed a small cottage that had an older woman waiting on her doorstep. She looks as if she had not seen or noticed the 3 genin yet.

This must be it, he had thought to himself. No way it couldn't be, the facts added up perfectly. The old woman had appeared to be friendly, and she also looked as if she was expecting us already. Unsure of the woman's eye sight he was anticipating a hello or atleast a sign of acknowledgement but he had not seen one. He figured since Shinji is the leader he would probaby introduce them to the woman, but if not Pax was just as ready as he was eager.

After hearing Shinji's reply to his question Pax had gotten a brief explantion of the way the missions are held. When they were
confronted by the one who had needed help. She was an old, pale lady whose teeth looked just about ready tho fall out of her head. She had introduced herself so the ninja had exchanged names the woman had then gave very unspecific instructions. 1 ninja must tend the field while the other 2 go to town and get more seeds.

Ready for what ever job he was going to have to do he awaited more specific instructions while the old woman ran inside. The group was facing Shinji again when Pax spoke up again,"Who should do what Shinji? She hadn't been specific on who does what so i guess that leaves it up to you." He had been shooting glares at the field because it had just looked so depressing in his current state. If the problem isn't fixed soon then the food could possibly start to run dry for Takigakure.

After hearing that he'd be the one working on the field he rushed over to try to get started as soon as possible. Pax had been told by the old woman that the seeds need to be planted 5 inches deep. With an assortment of gardening tools around his feet he begins to think of the most effective way to plant the seeds. The soil is dry and rough so Pax takes the hoe and begins to till the field. It had looked as if the field hadn't had any liquid in it for a while.

He was thinking to himself an effective way to moisten the field a little when he asked the elderly woman a question. " Where does the field get its water from?" While he asked his simple question a drop of sweat dripped off his brow and had landed on the solid dry ground beneath his feet. Not sure if the bottles of water are for drinking or for the field he continues tilling the field and placing a majority of the seeds in the bag into the soil.

The seed bag almost emply the ninja whipe sweat off of his face and turns towards the main road to see if Shinji and Sakura had gotten back from the town market yet. His eyesight quickly adjusted to a huge storm cloud hanging over head and when he had seen it he had picked his pace up alot. He wanted the woman to be able to grow crops and the rain would moisten the field nicely so he continued placing seeds in the holes so they would each get some water.

After Shinji and Sakura had returned Pax had still been working until he had heard the elderly womans request. “Can you help out your friend, dear boy. He will explain to you what needs to be done, will you, little one?” HE calmly replied with a respectful yes while he turned to Shinji. He had just begun asking Pax what to do so he told him, " We are digging 5 inches deep to plant the seeds in the dry field. We should hurry too, seeing how it would be good to finish before the clouds tear." Over head the rumbling of thunder was present along with a huge shadow covering all of the visable ground.

The storm had not even struck yet it was obviously going to be big. As the two shinobi tend the field hastily Pax chucles as he says, " I don't think I've ever had this much fun with yard work." The work itself proved that it was a tedious task but to Pax he took on each moment with a new mindset. One the likes of which he had never known before. Astonishingly after all the field work Pax and Shinji appeared to be done with the current assignment.

Taking his fingers and coasting them through his long, gray hair, he stands there staring at the clouds wondering when the first drop of rain will fall. He then turns around and heads towards the old woman's farm house to inform her of the progress. With two people it had taken them no more than 45 minutes to complete so the two ponder whats next or if they're done. Suddenly Pax feels the wind around him shift as the wind picks up. As he hurries towards the house to try to see whats next before the storm starts he hears a loud crash of thunder as it echos across the land.

As Mushi began thanking them all Pax could do was nod and reply quickly with a short, yet pleasant, "anytime". Never really being a farm hand, or even tending a small garden this was the first time he had ever really done any work along these lines. The ninja's stomach had been empty and when he heard the word food his eyes widened. But wait, a next group? perhaps the elderly woman had needed alot more help than it had seemed. Either way the rain had begun to get bothersome to stand out in so they proceded inside.

Upon entering, once again his eyes widened. This time though, from the sheer sight of anything edible. At this point he was so hungry he would have eaten a rock, or maybe even some dirt, but with all the food in front of him the had been no need to sink that low. Maybe being a bit melodramatic, he realized that if it had come down to it rocks, or dirt would be the last thing to try to eat.

Still he had been starving and when he had heard that they can grab what they like he headed for the plates and glasses. Allowing Sakura and Mushi to serve themselves first to be polite, he quitely waits his turn while deciding on what he would like. After the woman had been taken care of Pax and Shinji began to serve themselves too. The two had completely no idea how caked in dirt and mud they had really been but it had not mattered to Pax.

The feast had been great but while everyone was eating it was rather silent. This was to be expected because everyone seemed hungry, even the older woman. She had been doing as much work as the three genin she had hired, but i guess thats all in her everyday life. The only sound heard throughout the farm house had been the sound of chewing, and the sound of the rain.

After clearing their plates and helping Mushi with the dishes they had began to walk towards the tower to officially complete the mission and to let the Takikage know about the success of the mission. As they set off they began waving at Mushi as the walked towards the village. The rain still had been going but it was extremely light at this point. Fianlly he began thinking, he had finally completed his first mission!
