Ikki left the Kage Tower, he had just finished reading the Mission request. He walked to a group of ANBU and showed them the Mission request. They directed him towards the construction site and Ikki started to walk. As he did, Ikki started to hear sounds that surrounded a construction site, hammers being used, rocks being crushed, chains sliding against each other, a pickax hitting the ground, and many other sounds Ikki had heard at nearly every other construction site he had ever seen.
Ikki finally saw the dust that rose up when there was construction going on, it came from the ground there the workers were walking or digging in the ground. As Ikki moved closer he was finally able to see the tall building that was being put up. Ikki saw a great crane sitting motionless in a corner, there was a large beam attached to a chain attached to the crane. Ikki walked towards the entrance of the site. He saw a man loitering around. Ikki walked up to him and showed him the Mission request. The man smiled.
"Always great to have help! Thanks for coming by!" He yelled, over the light din that was the construction site. You can go in and see to foreman. Oh wait! Take this!" The man handed Ikki a hardhat. Ikki nodded and clapped it onto his head.
The man pointed to where the foreman of the project was and Ikki thanked him as he left. Men were walking to a fro, completing jobs as a team or alone. Most of the men were in teams doing various jobs, the only men that were alone worked with a machine, such as the crane. Ikki saw men up in the beams of the building, fishing up the welding of a few beams.
Then he saw them, the I Beams that he would have to help put up. Ikki now realized why they needed at least some help, the beams were huge! Ikki'e eyes widened as his eyes moved down the whole beam, and then the other one sitting next to it. Someone clapped him on the shoulder and Ikki looked up to see a tall man standing next to him. He was dressed in nice clothing, unlike the workers who were wearing attire appropriate to their job. He was wearing a hard hat and in his free hand he held a sheet of rolled up paper.
"Its always an amazing site to see those beams, we put them up last because all they do is reinforce the already structurally sound building. Its union rules. We do it last because it is the most dangerous job. Getting a beam like that up into the air and set in place always causes problems." The man sighed. "Guys lose fingers, crushed under the weight, some even die if the thing breaks from the chain carrying it."
Ikki gulped, audibly. The man laughed. "Don't worry, you'll be fine. All you will have to do is work help work the crane, its manpowered so we need a few guys to lift this thing." Ikki surmised the man must be the foreman, so he went along with him to meet the workers as they started to gather together, knowing what was to come next.
The Foreman spoke "Now for the last job boys. After that we can go home and rest because in a few days we'll have to do it all over again." The Foreman clapped Ikki on the shoulder again. "This is Ikki, he's going to help work the crane. You all we need help, even though he looks like a scrawny kid." The Foreman and the workers chuckled, nervously. Ikki understood they wanted to be jovial and carefree, but they couldn't not with the last job so close at hand.
Ikki walked to the crane with to other smaller men. They explained how the crane worked. Ikki and the men would stand inside what looked like a giant hamster wheel, they would start to walk and the wheel would turn, this is what lifted the beams. Ikki helped out as every single man, including the foreman lifted up the beam into the air a few feet. One of the men left the beam and grabbed the chain from the crane. He wrapped it around the beam and then joined the others in holding up the beam.
Another man left the group and grabbed another chain, he wrapped it around the beam and attached it. The men all backed away from the beam, and then let it go at the same time. The beam floated in the air, held up by the chains. Ikki followed the other men he was to work with to the crane. He saw about fifteen men start to climb the ironwork and beams. Ikki figured this was to guide the beam up and eventually attach it to where it needed to go.
Ikki started to walk with the other men. After a few minutes they had the beam in place and the men were welding it to the other ironwork. The next beam was put into place a few minutes after and Ikki stood with the men as they clapped each other on the back, thankful that no one was hurt.
The Foreman thanked Ikki for the help and he left, back to the Kage Office.
