‘MUHAHAHAHAHA’ The Kage had agreed to allow Ryū to go to the chunin exam, the only thing was he was required to complete a total of eight missions before he was allowed to leave. Seemed like a clever ploy from his rival, there was no way the prince could complete two missions in the short amount of time that remained… right? Wrong the Kage had made a fatal error, he hadn’t stated the difficultly that the missions had to be, so the prince intended to use this to his favour.
This wasn’t the only clever trick the prince had up his sleeve he was going to the exam even if he needed to kill the examiners to get in. The prince arrived at the lumber yard and began a length conversation with the site floor man. Apparently everyone had a stack of logs which would take the average ninja all day to cut. You worked until your stack was cut this meant you could in theory finish early or late.
So the prince would head over to his stack of logs, there was approximately two hundred, no doubt this would be a challenge to the average ninja but to Ryū it was a small amount. Why was this? Did the ninja possess some kind of extreme timber cutting skills? No but what he did have was the assistance of his allies. All four of his familiar would be aiding in this mission, this meant that the task was reduced to only forty logs each.
Everyone would make a start taking down a log each and positioning them so that they were spaced apart, everyone was going to use this as a form of training so that these missions not only allowed the team to gain some money but they would also improve their combat skills.
Bradley would practise his speed jab, striking the wood repeatedly. Due to the speed of the strikes stress lines started to form along the surface of the wood, from the rapid force gradually these lines would grow into cracks and the wood would be split into pieces. The beauty of this was that the wood was a solid force much like an enemy ninja, so it would replicate the resistance that an enemy body would give off, basically a make shift punch bag.
Orochi however was taking a different approach instead of speed he favoured power, blunt force trauma that would split the wood in a single strike. This wasn’t without its flaw however as he had a larger break between each of his strikes than Bradley, which kept the pair neck and neck. The snake would strike using the iron fist technique channelling his rage through his tail, forcing it to act like a whip and on impact split the wood into bits.
As for the prince well he had a different method of cutting the wood as well, he planned to use a weapon but it wasn’t the axe that the floor man had provided him with. Instead he would form a crystal blade around his arm the molecules of water in the air would aid him in forming a large dart like structure. The prince was highly skilled with this form of Ninjutsu so he was confident that it would be able to split the wood with ease. He would repeatedly strike the wood splitting it each time into four segments.
After several hours the loud banging of the team striking the wood would end, the prince glanced up as he searched for the next log to use as his target only to discover there was none left. Apparently the group had split all of the wood he would turn around to inspect his handy work. The wood lying on the floor in different piles some split into four segments the others two.
It would only take the group twenty minutes to dispose of the wood, leaving in in the correct areas of the timber yard. The prince would then notify the floor man, that his work was complete and after a quick inspection he was allowed to leave, taking with him a small token to prove that he had done a day’s work in the timber yard.
