A day had passed before Aaron moved out on his next mission. It was child's play. He would be done within hours. It was only one simple cat, how hard could it be?
Starting at the boy's house, a well built stone structure, in one of the poorer quarters of town, he looked around the outside. Two windows had been carved out but no glass had been installed, instead a wire screen kept the bugs out while the door looked to be made of some local wood. Nothing special. The yard had a few flowers but little other vegetation. A small plot, he could discern no movement. It was time to begin.
The cobblestone street with its tufts of grass and dusty alleys were his starting points. Although the streets were deserted for now, as parents were at the market or work while the children were in school, Aaron had free reign. He worked his way alley to alley along Transformer Road, scouring the darkness with a small light looking for any sort of movement. Rats, lots of rats were unhappy at this and bustled about shying away from him. Roaches and other insects occupied the dumpsters. In one alley, he even discovered a family of raccoons. If he studied animals he may have found this fascinating, but he was on a mission. Striking out on the street the boy lived, Aaron worked his way to the woods. It would be a hassle to find him in here, but it was the next logical place to look. If the cat had not returned home or to familiar surroundings after a day, it really was lost.
The woods with its deciduous trees, grasses and flowers housed any number of things. With the sun shining down overhead, it felt cool in the woods as the canopy of the trees shadows made things darker, blocking large amounts of the sun. Aaron sighed as he passed rotten logs and moss covered trees, listening for any sound of movement. Noises in the trees would be birds calling and cawing one another to romance. Hours passed as he made his way deeper and deeper into the woods to no avail.
