“Good job, Ren-chan! Now I have something more difficult for you. I want you to create the illusion of a crow attack just from eye contact. You should figure the res, Ren-chan” Master Raiku said as he stepped out of the warm cottage.
“Why outside?” I enquired, but in response he smiked and stood in front of me about 2 feet away.
I started conjuring my chakra while trying to figure out the steps. I started by creating the well-known link between us. Being an eye contact technique I aimed directly for his eyes. I formed the blue strings focusing on the shape of his eyes and making the contour them. Once my chakra was stable I proceeded further.
I pushed the strings onto his retina making them converge into a thin layer of my chakra covering it. This would enable me to project the needed image which the brain would interpret. I started thinking of a crow and pushing the idea onto his eyes trying to make it seem as real as possible. It had used up a lot of my chakra when Master Raiku started laughing.
“Wrong! I see the crow instead of your eyes. Hat off!” He told me coldly.
I didn’t understand why but I was embarrassed by my stupid failure so I took those off. The wind iced my ears and my hair was ruffled in all directions. I understood where the master was hinting. I decided to give it yet another try, but this time I would have to make him see the crow not instead of my eyes but somewhere in the air.
I conjured my chakra again and aimed for his eyes. This time I aimed not for the contour of his eyes but for the whole surface covering it with a layer of chakra. I pushed three quarters of the layer onto his retina making myself a screen for the projection. This time I didn’t just stop there but aimed for the brain too pushing two thirds of the chakra from the retina to his brain. This created a third screen, on his brain, enabling me to influence all three levels.
I began to imagine a crow, back and mean, and push the image towards the first two screens and the idea of the crow, codded in words to his brain where it could be interpreted. I tried to add bits of details too: claws and eyes, feathers and colours, skin and wings. I kept pushing this image about 3-4 times trying to multiply the crows.
“Good. I can see them” said Master smirking when I had finished the technique and sat in the snow tired and drained of chakra.” But there are some problems. First, you use way too much chakra focusing from all your body. Secondly, the crow stands in mid-air like on a string and doesn’t move. Thirdly, when a new one appears the previous disappears. So: scarf and shoes off!”
I listened and took the scarf off leaving the cold metal of my necklaces touch my skin and then I took the shoes off remaining barefooted on the think icy cold snow. The cold had really started to hit home. I decided to take care of the first problem: my chakra consumption or I wouldn’t be able to keep training for long.
I stood up and looked master Raiku in the eyes. I started focusing my chakra to my eyes this time. Eye contact technique…it should’ve been obvious I had to use my eyes. Once I gathered what I thought a sufficient amount I pushed it forward to the pair of black eyes in front of me. I covered his eyes with a layer of my chakra and then created a string between our pupils.
I proceeded by pushing the chakra screen I had formed to his brain and start projecting the image while still keeping the link. Then as I projected it I used the link formed to stimulate different neurons so it would seem real not just something his brain had made up. I kept the amount at one and stopped once I thought it fully appeared in front of him.
“The other two problems remain. And don’t let it appear in stages. Make them seem real.” The bearded man said this time. We could both see that I wasn’t exhausted by the technique this time so I must’ve got the chakra aim right.
