Rank: "E"
Skill: Skill
Effect: There are people who always seem to know where they're going as if they had an inner compass.
Special:
Drawback: ---
Description: Can be learned by an Animal. There are people who always seem to know where they're going as if they had an inner compass. The character with this skill is just such a person. They have an innate sense about which direction is north, south, east, west, etc. They need no compass. They also can read the stats and use them to navigate by, although they know nothing about navigating on the seas. They can read signs as well, using such information as the direction a river flows or which side a tree moss is growing on, in order to get a sense of where they are. Look in Task Skills thread found in the Skills and Traits Index for more information. Each time learned user gets 2 die roll to increase the skill.

The recent storm that had stricken the southern tip of Cha Kuni was very unsettling. I was coerced by the might of nature to seek refuge inside some mossy alcove within the jungle as the tempest destroyed a majority of the environ. Once the hurricane subsided, I emerged from my crevice to find that I had lost all of my general bearings. The landmarks that I had set had been all cast asunder by the storm! I spat at the air and stamped the ground in my rage. I felt that I would be wandering this realm for an eternity, trapped inside a maelstrom of lush greens and winding hills. As I gathered my equipment from my shelter, I set out to make a means to figure out where the hell I was and were I was destined to venture.
My sense of direction was poor, yet it did not matter. I could tell from the way that trees were uprooted, and from the path of destruction that lay before me, where the Koumoku-ten lay. It was to the southwest; as I turned away from the ocean, I figured I was headed north. My crossbow hung across my torso as I climbed over debris and through foliage, which my katana cut through easily as I continued to trek northward. It had been sheer luck that I stumbled upon a flowing river in the middle of the country. Judging from the flow of the water, it poured into the ocean at some basin near the lower cusp -- all I had to do was walk against the current and I would begin to distance myself away from the beach. Boreworm and Explosive arrows clanked against one another in my large quiver. I could hear them, albeit minutely; I am sure that none other could, however, since the jungles before me were crawling with loud wildlife.
As I further distanced myself from the depths of the jungle and stayed along the coursing river path, I would come across natural landmarks. A large tree trunk had been pulled down over the wide river, thus enabling those who climbed upon it a means to cross the gap. I took this 'bridge' without a second guess. Civilization had to be close by as I began to notice even more things like signs and loose items or apparel. Although a novice with a blade, it remained within my clutches. Anyone who dared jump out on me would suffer greatly at the length of my weapon.
Hours had passed and I was still pushing forward. Night began to fall now, that I had reached a location that seemed to have been abandoned by junglemen; I could tell from where the sun had settled wherein lay the west direction. I had indeed been headed northward, then. No compass would be my aid--only the stars and the earth; and of course, my own animal instinct. I would not rest this night in this foreign piece of Tea Country. I remained vigil, hidden from sight by the thickness of the black shroud that hung beneath the massive canopies. Yet my green eyes could see all...
