Name: Demolition of the Cracked Snow Tower

Objective: Follow the instructions of the demolition specialist and set explosives at marked spots in the snow tower. Then, make sure that there are not civilians or non-civilians in the building and give the sign to the specialists to detonate the explosives inside the tower.
Description: The tower of snow is... Cracked. After Yoshinee's attack, the tower has went through a couple of repairs, however, everybody knew that a new tower was needed sooner rather than later and what better time for that than the stepping in of a new village leader?
Reward: 2,500 Ryo

        The steady crunch under Muu's feet was rhythmic as he made his way to the Lone tower in the small park nearby the Yuki tower. It was a tower set apart from everything else, but it was in fact also called "The Lone Tower". In this park it was erected after some kind of victory or something, Muu wasn't sure on it's particular history. But he was meeting the demolition expert there. The demo shinobi was suppose to be his teammate for the mission assigned by the Yukigakure Kage, their mission being to blow the current outdated Yuki Tower down. Muu had to admit, he didn't have much experience with demolitions, explosions or anything of the sort, but he was interested to learn a thing or two.

Sitting on a bench at the base of the Lone Tower, was a man just older then Muu. Although he didn't look much older, Muu wondered how someone so young could be a demolition specialist, but then again he considered his own talents. He shrugged it off, blinking his lazy eyes and stopping in front of him.
"Hey, I'm suppose to be meeting someone here, Are you here to blow stuff up?"

Muu asked in a monotone voice. His mission was secret at all, in fact the tower had been evacuated for their very mission so he was just ready to cut to the chase and get it on the road. The Older boy looked Muu up and down before shaking his head and started rubbing the bridge of his nose as if in pain. "Oh god I would get a kid. Are you Muu Yanagi? Crap you probably don't know a thing about bombs do you? Shit. I'm Ken, Ken Chiba, we better get started, we have a lot to go over."

His attitude had diminished fast, and Muu's impression of him was of an arrogant self centered ass hat. He wasn't to far off, and Muu didn't really care anyway. Muu sighed as Ken arose from the bench and started walking over to The Lone Tower. He didn't know why yet, but he was very interested in why they'd be going there. He followed Ken in a single wooden door, out of the cold and into a fairly warm, heated atmosphere. he didn't need his jacket on in here, but he kept it on anyway, as did Ken.

The went up a flight of stairs, leaving an entry way and entering a small room, with a wooden table in the center and a few wooden chairs scattered around it. On the table lay an array of what Muu assumed to be bomb parts, wires, chunks of casings and all sorts of stuff Muu didn't recognize but he guessed it had some sort of purpose. Ken Sat down on a chair and pushed the one next to him out for Muu. "Okay Kid. First off, I'm in charge and you're gonna listen to me. I'm the Chuunin, you're the Genin, got it? Good." It wasn't a question but a statement for Ken, adn Muu just blinked and took the seat across from him rather then next to him. He wasn't sure about the guy yet, so he wanted to keep his distance.

"Now, Let me tell you a few important things you'll need to know about bombs."

The potions mixed by Alchemists are based on natural components. Alchemists can identify potions about 50% of the time and have a +10% to Identify Poison. Mixing Common components is considered Trivial. Mixing Uncommon components is considered Easy. Mixing Rare components is considered Average. Mixing Very Rare components is considered Difficult.             "First off, in order to understand how something goes boom, you have to know where it begins. Basically, where do you start when making a bomb. " Ken began as if he were giving a half hearted lecture. He sounded bored and slightly annoyed, and was speaking quickly, as if the stuff were so basic he didn't care if Muu could keep up or not. However Muu could follow along easily, and even if this was slightly confusing to him, he was intrigued by the concept. After all, he was getting a free lesson on how things go boom, what was there to not be interested in? So Ken went on, "It all starts with what we in the bizz call "Alchemy". Thats basically the study of compounds and substances. Through alchemy, any scientist knows, are the secrets of the world around us. When combined some compounds create deadly poisons, some go boom, others well, others are a mystery. With me so far kid?"

Muu nodded his head. He had some background with Alchemy, being a medical student and all he'd run into when he'd been investigating natural toxins and potions. But His research into it was very basic and not at all in depth. "I have some mild background in it, but I don't know to much." He answered after his nod to make his knowledge more clear to Ken.

Ken shrugged and pulled a bag from the ground and up onto the cluttered table. He Began to dig through it as he spoke. "Well then you might not be totally useless after all. Here,' he tossed a small text book at Muu which the green haired boy caught and examined. "Look through that a minute while I get started with the basics of our bombs for the Yuki Tower."

The Book title was, 'Alchemy: The Start of Concoctions. Muu blinked at it and then back at Ken, who had already begun tinkering with a bunch of small parts and wires. Muu opened the book and started to read it over. Listed were many easy to find substances and plants and how they interacted to produce interesting results. Fitting he'd start with something minor and introductory, but Muu sighed, he wanted to know how to blow things up now so he could get the mission over with.

        Muu had been looking over the starters guide to alchemy for a good while now and finally grew bored of it, shutting the book abruptly and dropping it on the table, causing the smaller parts to bounce up and rattle. The sudden noise mad Ken jump a little, who then looked peeved at Muu. "What gives kid!? Any mistake over here could blow us both to hell so what do you think you're doing?"

Sighing and rest an elbow on the table and putting his chin in his hand Muu looked at the older boy who had been tinkering with parts. "I'm ready to learn about how the practical implications now. Reading is getting boring." Muu's tone and expression radiating sleepiness, as if he could pass out at any moment form the boring task he'd been assigned. But even as kens eyes burned with anger at being startled, he quickly dropped his head in defeat. "Fine!"

Ken pushed aside what he was working on and pulled over a tackle box, and the book Muu had been looking over. "Here are some minor mixtures, Potassium perchlorate and cane sugar, creates a minor explosion, mostly harmless, but Sodium nitrate and sulphur flour makes a lot of noise, you'd think it would mean alot of damage but really its just a noise maker. Another One is Potassium bichromate and Antimony sulfide, now this one makes alot of noise and bright light, a fire intense but not all that hot. Its more a color reaction then a real explosion."

As he explained the combinations and reactions, he pulled vials and containers from the tool box and laid them side by side on the table. Clearing some space as he went while Muu looked on with great interest. While he wasn't getting a real effective demonstration, he was at least getting a visual of some kind. That was better then nothing he guessed.

        The explanation and pairs of different compounds went on for another few minutes and Muu found himself growing bored of this part of the training as well. It wasn't as if it wasn't interesting, because it was, it was just not enthralling. He felt detached in a way. He wanted a better visual then just seeing the compounds near one another, he wanted to see a real small explosion. "Hey," He blurted out, interrupting Ken as he went on about the different uses of explosions. 'What about a demonstration. Learning about how many kinds of stuff there are and what they all do is cool and all, but i'll never remember it all until i see something cool utilizing them. Its just how it is."

Ken looked agitated. "Fine kid, you know you're a burden right? But I guess I can show you something. But sooner or later we'll have to get back to setting the devices for the actual mission ya know." Muu nodded excitedly, although his eyes never got bigger then his half closed expression. Ken examined all his ingredients and even peeked into his tool box of vials and containers once more. He extracted a small plastic vial, and a blueish liquid. He also pulled out a slightly green powderer.

'Now then, This is essence of nightshade. Its a poison on it's own, but in the right amounts and with the right compounds it has other effects as well. This power here, is dried skin of a newt. With the ignidents its kind easy to see how people in the old times thought this was witchcraft right?" As he spoke he popped the top of the light blue liquid and poured just a small amount in the empty plastic vial. He then corked it and set it aside and opened the power. Sprinkling it in the liquid, and quickly set it down as the combination began to bubble and fizz up. He then tossed the vial to the far side of the room and let it smash on the wooden wall.

A brilliant light blue flame erupted to life and then vanished into the air in the same instant. There were no burn marks on the wall, and Muu quickly hurried over to it, knocking his chair over in the excitement, as he ran to look it over. There weren't even left over pieces of the plastic vial. All evidence of the explosion or components were just gone. Muu looked back at Ken, as if demanding an explanation with his eyes. Ken just laughed and sat back in his chair.

"Well I bet you're confused. The two have a sort of intense love. They burn hot and when given room to expand they erupt into a hot gas. It looks like fire but its not. The skin eliminates the poison form the nightshade, and they evaporate in a harmless, odorless gas. Pretty cool right?"

        Muu returned to the table and settled back in. Ken was still grinning at having surprised Muu so well. After the giggles had subsided and Muu felt the gloating had been more then enough he coughed loudly. "So uhh, are strange things like that what we're gonna use to blow up the tower?" Muu asked earnestly but also in a bored fashion. He didn't want to seem to interested, as to not inflate Ken's ego anymore then it already was. His question wasn't just to change subject either, he was interested because that explosion, while interesting and cool to see, didn't have any real fire power behind it. Plus the things he'd been told about and read so far didn't produce the kind of explosion they'd be needing to take down something like the tower of Yukigakure.

Ken Looked up a slight glow or gleam in his eye, as if a spark of excitement was there. 'I'm glad you finally got around to asking Muu-san, I do have a little trick or two up my sleeve. But first lets talk about what causes damage in the explosive world of demolitions."

Ken pushed aside a bunch of scraps, putting all the vials and substances back into his tackle box, and putting the box on the floor by his feet. Then he rested his hands on the table and leaned forward, a smile on his face as he started to describe the dangerous explosives that were beloved by demo specialists.

"While alchemy and all the odd this and thats it offers do lead down unique roads, the real key to demolitions are in fact the explosives that cause land changing alterations. TNT, C4, nitroglycerin, just a few of the big names that require special delivery systems each, but offer their own style of boom. A trained specialist not only knows how to handle and utilize these things to deliver the best "Boom" but they also can identify explosions caused by these bad boys. Hey Kid are you getting all this?"

Muu had slouched in his chair. He seemed to be drifting off as Ken had his nerd boy moment over bombs and while it was interesting, Muu's mind had begun to wonder over the possibilities he could use demolitions expertise for.

        Muu blinked, then looking back at ken, who's expression was upset to say the least as he awaited to see if Muu was still even paying attention. Muu waved at him and leaned forward himself, sighing as he did. "Yes yes I'm with you Ken Blow Up Man." The little nick name seemed to crack the mask of Ken, confusion for a second before the other boy shook his head and tried to continue with his ranting about explosives.

'Whatever, you need to be listening to this stuff or you'll get yourself and maybe even me blown to hell got it?!"
He went back to tinkering with a object that resembled a disk as he started talking once more, his tone more grumpy, "Anyway, the reason things explode, are basically a meeting of energies. Explosives, are compounds that have great potential energy, and when triggered, typically by heat or ignition like a spark, they get set off. That causes a chain reaction that well... goes boom. The results are typically alot of light, heat, and the force or pressure great enough to move other matter. That makes everything from buildings, mountains, trees and even people susceptible to them for multiple reason and some more so then others."

He put the dick thing down and pointed at Muu, a triumphant look and smirk on his face.
'And thats where demolition specialist like myself come in. See knowing what each kind of explosives do is one thing, but people like me can create and set a device to explode a certain way, to utilize and direct the incredible force of a rapid explosion to destroy exactly what wee want and save on the repercussions. Pretty cool huh?"

Muu blinked at him, a silent pause lingered between them, and Ken's triumph changed to an annoying twitch above his right eye as he waited for some kind of response form Muu. The green haired boy just watched him, blinking slowly, leaning agsint the table his eyes half closed. He put a finger in his ear adn thats when ken smacked his forehead on the table. "You're hopeless kid."

Muu then yawned before asking. "So how exactly do you plan on creating a device that will properly destroy the tower?" I have things to do, will this take much longer?"

        "Fine fine, I guess you have a good enough grasp on the basics, lets get started on the actual bombs we'll be using for this task."
Ken reached down and pulled up three different devices. One was large, while the other two were fairly small in comparison. He set them down in an order, and then looked back at Muu. "okay kid, so here are the three types of devices we'll be using for the tower. I made them personally, and have used them before in similar instances. Now before we talk about them individually, we have to be on the same page. This is a controlled demolition in the village. We are to have no injured bystanders or collateral damage of any kind, got it?"

Muu looked up at him, ripping his lazy eyes away form the devices to nod up at Ken. 'Got it yea yea, what do they each do?"

The boys excitement struck a douche smile on Ken's face as he went on describing the bombs. "Well the large one here, is the main type we'll be using. We'll have seven of them, all placed around the base of the tower, ideally, at the seven main support braces around the bottom. Blow those and the weight of the building will be too much and it'll collapse on itself."

Ken smirked, and pulled over another object, about the size of a volleyball, but with flat spaces all around it.
'These here are for extra incentive. This little babies will be attached to the building outer walls, and are specially made to create an inward, expanding explosion. What that means is they blow outward from a certain spot, that sticks to the wall. They will cause walls to shatter inward so they building doesn't fall out, it falls in and down."

"This third thing, well, I don't plant to need it. It's just for knocking down specific objects that are left standing if need be, like clean up bombs. So to recap, seven large bombs around the base, then roughly twenty one of these smaller ones, I call them Stickers, along the walls. All of them will be connected by det cord, its what we in the biz use to ignite bombs form a safe distance most of the time, to set them all off at once. Any questions."

Muu rubbed his chin as he looked between all the objects, to scared to touch them and even a little worried that looking to long might set them off. Ken just grinned as the boy looked them all over. Seeing a real bomb for the first time was a special moment for most demo specialists, and he was pleased to share the moment, even with Muu who he wasn't incredibly found of.

            Muu finally snapped out of his minor daze. The thrill of being faced with the explosives themselves, after learning so much, it had been a bit much for him. He'd lost himself momentarily in the sheer untapped power waiting in the bombs, resting as potential energy, and after his lesson, he knew exactly the powerful potential they had. Muu's fingers were literally itching at the chance to witness their power. The best part was he knew he'd get his chance soon enough.

'So what kind of concoction or explosive device are we using in them? TNT?" Muu asked, his voice filled with excitement.

Ken chuckled to himself as he got up and made his way over to the cupboard against the wall opposite of which he'd thrown the little fire bomb form earlier. "Well it's not TNT, it's C4. C4 is much easier to control in terms of mailable explosives, and cleaner, while also packing a bigger punch per square foot then TNT. TNT itself tends to be more unstable, a collaboration of gunpowder more then anything."

Ken pulled out multiple sacks, and some smaller ones. They looked heavy as he plopped them down to the floor carefully but with loud thuds each time he did so. Muu watched, even as he tried to picture the explosion the bombs would cause. Until Ken motioned to him, to come over to the sacks.

'Okay kid, help me get all these. They are heavy and be careful, they are the bombs in question. Lets get them over to the Yuki Tower and get ready for the show already." He spoke with a tone that suggested strain, as if he weren't looking forward to lugging all the packages over to the tower.

When Muu started gathering some up, he found himself discovering why. They were heavy as hell. It was like each one was filled with bricks and he had to carry multiple of them at a time. Once the two of them had collected enough of the bombs, Ken moved to the door. "Off we go then, a buildings gotta go and we're the lucky dogs who get to bring it down."

            Arriving at the tower, after probably the longest hike of his life, or at least it felt like it because of the heavy sacks he carried, Muu finally dropping down into the snow, being careful to put his heavy sacks, well bags of bombs, down first. The cool snow felt refreshing, like a soft cold blanket welcoming the young kaishin into it's embrace. But thats wasn't what he was here for today. He heard the sharp crack of Ken's voice breaking his moment of peace.

'Kid! Stop slacking off! Give the bombs one last check and make sure everything is in order before we go and set them."

Muu Sat up and sighed aloud. Then he pulled dover a bag and took out one of the bigger bombs. He was carrying three of them himself, and Ken had the other four. Ken had refereed to them as 'Big Berthas" and After opening it up, Muu could see why. Inside was a standard countdown ignition system, which after his talks with ken and mild research in some reference books on demolitions, he knew to be standard. This one was a bit more advanced, a design of Ken himself. But it also had two override areas, and a slot for manual detonation. That slot was adjusted, with an ingintion cord slot open. They had planned to use just that to link the bombs together so they could all blow at once. They could have set a timer, but those had the chance to be faulty, and off time of others depending on simple mechanics. Detonation cord connection ensured they'd blow and blow all at once.

Muu reached into the open Bertha and double check everything, making sure it was secure and that the wires were secure and none lose. Not that it mattered much, once the cored was attached and ignited the bomb would blow for sure. Then Muu lifted a top, just under the timer mechanisms and revealed the hunks of C4 that were connected by det wires of their own. The soft, mailable off white puddy looked like a kids toy. But Muu knew the potential energy stored there, just waiting on the spark to set it off. And this baby would be able to rearrange the landscape for sure with this amount of explosives.

He replaced the top and other outercasings, sealing up the bombs outer shell device and recoving it. He then pulled over another one and repeated the process of double checking the bomb in it's casing. A tedious part of the job but it was necessary to ensure a safe, correct explosion. Once he was done he looked over to Ken with his lazy eyes, and gave him a thumbs up while saying in a lazy tired voice.

"All the Berrthas are fine. Can we get on with the show now?"

Description: For characters that like to blow things up, and create their own explosives there is nothing better than this skill. If you are Schooled in Technician you gain a +10% synergy bonus with Demolitions checks that involve a device with Computerized, Electronics, or Mechanical components.

* Critical Success: If setting or building an explosive device, the device is set or built in half the normal time (rounded up). If disarming a device, the device is disarming in half the time (rounded up), or 1 second before it detonates— whichever comes first. Critical Success is 1/10 or less of what their percentage is (10 or less with 100).


Each Skill level allows the user to create an item of a certain Rank. (Example: Novice can create "D" Rank items, Master can create "S" Rank items). Look in Task Skills thread found in the Skills and Traits Index for more information. Each time learned user gets 5 die roll to increase the skill.
Limit: Must know Alchemy.

        Ken looked over form where he was doing checks on his own berthas. he blinked, apparently not expecting Muu to be done so quickly. 'Ummm go over them again, after you double check the Stickers you have! You can never be to careful."

They were at the base of the yuki tower now, and with another audible sigh, and never taking his lazy hate filled eyes off Ken, Muu reached over and pulled another bag over in front of himself. He was beyond ready to set the explosives and get on with the show, all this tedious work was getting on his nerves. But he went about it anyway. He had carried thirteen of these little guys, bombs in spherical shape but with hexagonal flat sides in them, a little bigger then volleyballs. Each of the flat sides could be activated and would become sticky on that side, while the adhesive, while being very sticky, was also an ignition source.

The edges could be ignited by a switch of the bombs owner. On two opposite sides of each bomb there were holes for det cords to be entered in and connected to the payloads inside. Muu double checked each hole, and then twisted off the hidden tops of each bomb to go over the inner workings of each "Sticker" as Ken refereed to them.

The inside was a small mound of cord and more off white puddy none as C4. He checked the wirings, and the slots on either side where the det cored would be attached. All were fine and the C4 itself intact and ready to go. He repeated this process for all the stickers in his packs before returning to the Big Berthas for the final checks once more.

After all of it was completed Muu stood up, got his bags up and moved closer to the Tower base. He was preparing to start setting up his bombs and connecting them. waiting on Ken was just killing him, the faster he could get this done the better. He had things to do adn people were waiting on the tower to be taken down anyway.

"All done now. I'm gonna start setting." Muu yelled at Ken, his voice filled with indifference.

Suddenly Ken appeared next to Muu, falling from a high jump and landing in the soft snow with a thump. 'Whoa whoa whoa there greenie, lets go over it one more time. For my sake and for the sake of I won't want to blow up the whole village. Tell Me how you set the charges, and when you turn them live."

Muu looked at him and sighed loudly again, "Fine." Muu set the packs down softly and rolled his shoulders as he went over the process again. "I set the berthas at points marked by the white chalk that the "Demolitions Specialist", Muu did air quotes with his fingers as he said the title, "makes on the outer wall of the building signifying each of the major support beams." Then I move up the wall and set each of the stickers on the circle markings made with chalk that the 'Demolitions Specialist" makes. Sound about right?"

Ken watched him and seemed to be going over a mental check list. Muu was tired of all this, and safe explosions took way to much careful planning for his tastes. Finally, Ken noded once, his expression serious. "okay then, and when do you turn them lives?"

Muu looked up to the white sky as he responded. "I don't turn them live until i'm sure of their position, and have connected the det cord to each explosives device, and double checked their connections. Once they are all linked as once, I active each device and with you, Ken Chiba the demolitiona specailist at the safe zone over there on the building. Satisfied?"

Ken noded and smirked. "Yup, I just like hearing you call me the Demolition specialist. Don't you forget it kid. Okay get to it and lets get the show on the road." With that, he left Muu to his work. They were almost home free, but this next part would be the real test of skill.
