Wails on the Waves [E]

No doubt it was too dark for Katsu too properly aim his shuriken, but the effort was surely something? At least that is what the Kaishin hoped for, it was a desperate form of holding the opponent off. He was quick to respond to most things with a little thinking behind it, which made him an exuberant shinobi. However, with his skill level he couldn't do as much as he hoped. The two shuriken that were aimed for the figure on the right completely missed, but on the other hand, the other two shuriken successfully hit. Katsu was now down four shuriken, with eleven remaining. Projectiles aren't the answer, but maybe if I added an explosive tag on 'em it'd do me good. Pondered the boy, as he prepared his next attack-- or counter.

Katsu took another moment to examine the situation, it seemed Menma had acted-- it was a foolish maneuver. He crystallized some of the syrup near him, but the flute was his main priority-- so it seemed. The Konoha ninja worked to form his flute into a staff of sorts. It was pointy and awfully large, but being stuck in place would not suffice for that type of strategy. Shit.. Is it all on me, now? Is Fukuyu... okay? Katsu wondered, his head turned to examine the forest. And then he moved over to examine the twin who decided to stay and fight-- what a champ he seemed.

Until the blonde twin began to shake in fear, "What the hell man?! The shuriken didn't do anythinnggg!!" He complained, and Katsu could not blame him. It wasn't his mission to fight, no, he was just there for transportation. "Get out of here, run for the trees and make sure your brother and Fukuyu are okay!" Commanded the Yukigakure ninja, his eyes narrowed on the two blobs. "I can do this.." He whispered under his breath, and with a slam of palm to knuckle. Katsu prepared to counter the next technique these atrocious slimes threw at him.

With another observation of the field, it seemed Hayashi had managed to get loose and free himself. Hopefully he had escaped to ensure the safety of the twin and the little girl, nonetheless Katsu had a bigger problem before him. The ground around the Yukigakure ninja began to rumble and shake, however he managed to stand fine. Earthern walls erected around him and raised and raised at least thirteen feet tall, or four meters. I gotta get out of this! Katsu thought, his knees bent and the boy pushed himself forth from the soft ground. It was a close jump and he nearly made it to the rim of the dome, thankfully he had not fallen off. His stance re-assumed automatically when he managed to get on the brim of the prison.

Katsu dipped his hands into his robe, where he had a various selection of weaponry. Ranging from kunai, to hira shuriken, and then explosive tags. The boy pulled out two kunai and two explosive tags in one go, his hands moved to wrap each around with a tag. He held them up in the air and looked down at the blobs, he could see them a bit more clearly at this angle-- which allowed him to throw more precisely. With the angle advantage he had, Katsu crossed his arms in an -x-, the boy's chakra flowed into the two tags for a moment, position and threw the two explosive tagged kunai down at the blobs. His aim pleased to land just behind the two blobs.

Time to explode them! The boy nodded, "I'm from Yukigakure no Sato, and this is what you get for messing with my comrades!" Said the enthusiastic young man, with the kunai hurling for the aquatic blobs. The boy raised his hands and performed the ram hand seal, which activated the explosive tags.

Jibaku Fuda: Kassei, 自爆札・活 (Exploding Tag: Activate)
Rank: "E" Rank
Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: A technique used to detonate Exploding Tags and items that resemble the tag.
Special: "One Hand Seal - Ram"
Drawback: User may perform this technique once per tag unless user utilizes more chakra. For every tag the user wishes to detonate the user must hold onto the ram handseal for an extra handseal movement. If user wishes to detonate 30 tags the user must hold onto the seal for 30 handseal movements.
Description: Utilizing chakra, the user is able to activate the explosion mechanism of a distant explosive tags. User focuses the chakra to a nearby tag and detonates it. User must put a piece of chakra into their tag first before detonating. User is unable to detonate tags that is not theirs.
Limit: An academy Jutsu that all is capable of performing if they wish to do so.

The Stance

Skill: TaiJutsu/Supplementary

Effect: Stance is a crucial part of using any weapon. This is the basic stance technique.

Special: ---

Drawback: ---

Description: Begin with the feet in a 90° comfortably separated at about half a shoulder's width apart. Center the weight on the rear leg. When throwing the user shifts their weight to the front. This causes the hips and shoulders to twist into the throw forcing the body's power into the throwing arm. After the throw is complete recover by returning to the original stance to ready the next throw.

Limit: Must be a Throwing Specialist.

His technique had failed him, and he growled as he saw the bolt of water coming toward him. He had enough time to go through the hand seals to activate his crystallization as he turned a 5x5 meter area into crystal, including the enemies attack. He noticed the sound of the moving earth and turned just enough to see his new friend throwing something. He didn’t know what, but from the soun of it it had paper attached to it. He didn’t have much time. Using more hand signed he created 2 sets of binding pillers, linking them together around the enemy. They were trapped ina cage like setting as he made sure the kunai would fly into the trap and not hit the wood. “Wood style! Binding Pillers!”


Mokuton Soutei Hashira (Wood Release - Binding Pillars)

Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: A technique where branches is pushed from the ground and wraps around an opponent.
Special: "Boar, Dragon, Ram, Boar"
Drawback: This technique is the basics of other techniques. The user must learn this technique multiple times in order for the distance of branches can increases.
Description: After using the seals the user uses the water and earth release in which branches crushes out of the ground to wrap around the user. When the user first learns this technique the user is capable of creating approximatly Six Different branches with a width of six inches, with the distance of Ten Meters From the user. Every time learned the distance may increase by an additional ten Meters. When the distance reaches up to a Hundred Meters the type of training becomes B-Rank Training. When the distance reaches Two Hundred Meters the Training becomes A-Rank. When the user reaches to B-Rank Training the width of branches is Twelve Inches if the user desires. When the Training Reaches A-Rank the width of the branches is Twenty Four Inches if the user desires. Each time learned the user is capable of creating another branch.
Limit: Must have the Wood Release

Shōton: Crystallization
Rank: (C, B, A,) S
Skill: Ninjutsu
Effect: Allows the user to create crystal to varying degrees.
Special: Handseals of the technique it is used with..
Drawback: It is impossible to crystallize electricity, wind, or fire. Any element that lacks a physical presence can not be crystallized. Sound Jutsu will act as if one rank stronger then their designated technique when being pitted against crystal. Sound techniques use their high frequency and vibration qualities to essentially shatter your crystals, as opposed to just break them, if they are geared towards acts of that nature *ie they are meant to damage physically and not some sort of genjutsu or the like*. When calculating damage vs the durability of your crystal, remember to add it together. If one person does an A rank vs you crystal that can withstand S rank, you can only endure one A rank more unless the crystal is redone/fixed which becomes costly.
Description: Using your abilities with the crystal release skill you are able to create crystal either by transforming the particles in the air, or a more prominent substance. The technique is your essential crystal technique. It governs two things: the amount of crystal you can create at once, and the strength of your crystalline constructs. At C rank the user is able to crystallize up to a 5x5 section of material per movement dedicated to the process after handseals. This of course can be edited to be proportionally the same such as a 6x4 meter area etc. Also, when you have this skill at C rank, your crystalline constructs are able to endure C rank damage before shatter. This defensive power stacks with whatever technique this is used with if applicable. As your rank increases so to does this techniques power. At B rank, your ability to crystallize becomes a 10x10 meter area, and its able to withstand up to a B rank. At A rank it increases to 20x20 meters, and is able to withstand up to an A rank amount of damage. At S ranks it increases once more to 40x40 meter area, and again is able to withstand an S rank amount of damage. With this technique the user is able to transport through crystalline structures of their own creation at a speed of 5 meters per movement (kind of like underground fish projectile). This technique is generally used passively within other techniques. This technique also allows a user to somewhat “dismiss” their crystal creations at will. When doing so the crystal seems to basically disintegrate.

With Katsu escaping the interior of the earthen prison via the exposed roof, the young Genin displayed a quick use of untrained legerdemain and placed tags on his kunai before launching them at the two blobs. In tandem, and even quicker than the movements of the impressive Snow ninja, the crystal shinobi Menma displayed an incredible feat. He had frozen in place the Water Bullet, and immediately shifted his chakra signature to that of wood to capture the two watery fiends within binds. Up until now, he may not have seemed to be too impressive for Katsu, but this Konohanin had displayed some useful combinations of advanced releases. With no where to escape to, the thrown kunai plunged into their ectoplasmic bodies and would soon explode from within due to Katsu's latent technique. The wood bindings would erupt outward, causing a small area to be coated in the wet remnants of the two jelly beasts. 

"Oh hey.." the terrified twin commented as he witnessed this sudden turn of events. "You ninja dudes are knarly!!" Hearing his brother's praises, the other and the young girl returned from the bush, she still asleep in his arms. 

"That was a close call.. glad you two were here.. I think I saw your other friend run away towards the beach or something. Looks like he won't be following us to the capital." The twin that held Fukuyu in his arms moved ahead of the group, eyes looking down at the pools of jelly remains as he crossed over them and the remaining crystals. "When we get into town, you bros can stay at our place.. in the morning we will set out to Jiro Island."

On the way to Okhotsk, no other threats against the party were made. When they arrived sometime later within the city, they would notice the Heisui Hotel, one of the finer establishments of the island country. With hardly any locals on the streets at this time of night, Menma and Katsu would have to wait until the morn to see the sights or gain some more information about the terrors of Umi-no-Kuni...

There was a sudden uprooting noise, as trunks of wood formed out of the ground. Whose doing was it, Katsu was unaware. For a fact that it assisted his explosive tagged kunai, he did not mind. It worked. A burst of pep rang throughout the teen's body, the explosion followed as he dropped the formed Ram hand seal. A burst of red, orange, and dark grey formed into the air. Almost as the shape of a mushroom, but just a semi-large ball that looked like it was bursting in a messy array of colors. "Is everyone okay?!" Shouted Katsu, at the top of his lungs, from where he stood on the earth wall.

However, it seemed it wouldn't be safe to stand at such a height for too long-- so the boy proceeded to slide down and reach the soft dirt once more. The moon light shined over the sticky remains of the two blobby beasts, which almost gave the group a run for there money. Katsu stepped over a small branch of wood and walked towards the now appeared twin. "It's just our job, I am gratuitous for your efforts and bravery. I honestly had not expected that, but you did it, and for that I am forever grateful." Spoke the Snow ninja, with a warm smile which followed.

When the other twin, who had taken Fukuyu out of danger, emerged from the tree line. Katsu exulted a sigh of relief, he felt as if a certain weight lifted from his chest. "Seems you both did great, the same goes to you-- friend." Referred Katsu, to the words he spoke to the other twin, however his attention was focused on Fukuyu. At that point, he placed a palm on her forehead to ensure she had not caught a fever. With that, the group made way to the Capital where they'd be able to lounge with the twins. These guys aren't that bad, in my book.

Katsu looked behind him, where hopefully Menma towed. "Good job, back there. We did good as a team." Spoke the Kaishin, quite tenderly. He hoped the shinobi hadn't minded the snow ninja's acting without words-- which is why he took a delicate and sensitive approach.

They finally arrived in Okhotsk, on the way there had not been much of any other hostilities. A break was great, and before they headed out rest was surely needed. In the capital, Katsu would arrive, he pondered what was going to happen next. "We'll have to ask around tomorrow morning, and I might want to get another word with the twins-- about the wildlife here. Good night, Menma." Katsu waved, as he entered the Heisui hotel.

As menma freed himself of the crystal around him he smiled knowing the slimes had been defeated. As he made his way with the group he stopped near the slime bodies and he stared at it. Something very wrong had changed it from what it had been. He did not know what, but he would find out. He began to make his way toward the town with the ground. As the approached the hotel he had a moment to think for himself as he stood outside and After performing the needed handseals he placed his hands palm in such a way that one hand was pointing down and the other was pointing up. A small light emerged from his hands before growing into a massive crystal mirror.

He performed another set of hand seals and created 5 crystal clones. “You three patrol the area around the hotel. The two of you patrol the inside of the hotel. I don’t want any more of those blob creatures sneaking up on us understand me?” They nodded before heading out to do what they were told to. Menma himself making his way to the room provided for him by the staff of the hotel. He would managed to get a few hours of sleep at a time, the lead clone from outside wating over the others as they patrolled the 50 meter area around the hotel.

The two in the hotel would go floor to floor, one starting at the bottom and one starting at the top, including the roof of the building. They would, when meeting , exchange any information they had found as they went to replace the others position repeating this procedure through out the night.


Shōton: Suishō Kyō (Crystal Release: Crystal Mirror)

Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: The user forms a large mirror in the shape of a snowflake, which they can then use to perform the Jade Crystal Clone Technique.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: None
Description: Picture
After the handseals, the user will then release a bit of their chakra which will look like an outline of a hexagon. This will expand outwards, until its roughly 3 feet in diameter. Then it crystallizes, forming a perfect mirror. The mirror is used mainly for the Suishō Bunshin no Jutsu, but can also be used as just a regular object for whatever the user can think of.
Limit: Must know the Crystal Release

Suishō Bunshin no Jutsu (Crystal Release: Jade Crystal Clone Technique)
Rank: B
Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: After User performs the Crystal Release: Jade Crystal Mirror jutsu, the user can make multiple clones of herself emerge from the mirror. These clones are made of crystal, as after defeating one, it is crumbled into many crystals. Clones made by this jutsu are also able to deceive Byakugan users.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: These clones, though resembling many different people, may only ever have access to the original creators Crystal Based techniques taijutsu skills, and bloodlimit techniques.
Description: Picture
Forming the mirror from the Shōton: Suishō Kyō (Crystal Release: Crystal Mirror) technique, the user will use it to reflect the image of the person who he wishes the clone to look like. This image is a perfect cloning of the person visually right down to the chakra network. The clone moves at the same speed as a tai specialist the same rank as the user, and has access to all the users crystal release techniques. The user is able to create up to 5 clones with this technique.

Needless to say, the shinobi Menma had for unknown reasons chosen to defend the Heisui Hotel, which would have required him a decent amount of chakra given the time spent doing so and the chakra used to manipulate his crystal constructs. Katsu and the others rest well, and would be rejuvenated in spirit, body and mind on the next day; the twins, smiling and eyes somewhat red and low, stood in the main lobby with snacks in their hands and munched away.

"Dude, Menmaaaaaaa," one called to the Konohanin, "You didn't have to guard the 'telly man.. they have guards for that." He then proceeded to eat a handful of treats and his smiled returned.

Approaching the conglomerate, there was an elder woman with hoary hair and sagging skin. She could have easily been mistaken as a blob creature by the foreigners who did not know that she was on Okhotsk's village council. She looked at the two baked twins, then at the three travelers.

"All of you are to follow me outside, there is much to discuss." She turned on a quick pivot and exited the hotel. The group followed after her and as they walked, she began her spiel:

"As you already know, we are plagued with haunting wails and the sights of grotesque creatures here in Umi Kuni. Our island of Jiro seems to be the nesting ground.." By this time, they were well on their way back into the lands of Sea, outside of the capital. "We have hired Sofu and Soku to escort you all there to find the source of this problem and eliminate it... right now, I think they're too high to understand, but they won't be helping you once you get to Jiro. They are just here to ferry you from island to island." Now, they would be coming up to the shoreline wherein the boat of the So-twins was located.

"Goodluck, travelers," she said before wobbling back towards Okhotsk.

The ship was now free to board as preparations to move to Jiro Island had been complete. Fukuyu, impressively, summoned a large halberd from a scroll that she kept at her hip. She smiled really big at Menma and Katsu, "I hope you guys aren't scaredy-cats like me!"

moved to umi-no-kuni [overland]

Morning, Katsu woke up to a warm tropical breeze. It was refreshing to get away from the cold every so often, but he did really miss it. The Yukigakure shinobi was practically born into the ice. Katsu made way out of his hotel room, after washing up and whatnot, where he found direction to the main lobby. "Morning, you two." Spoke the Kaishin, with a wave to the twins. Seems they're enjoying themselves. He thought, as he noticed the jocular boys munching down on snacks.

"I appreciate it, Menma-San... but the twins are correct!" Katsu reminded himself, and then he patted Menma on the back. The rested genin looked toward a new figure approaching, short.. and old? Was what Katsu decided on, as he noticed whoever it was come forth. With greetings, the woman was revealed as a council member belonging to the island. She took the two shinobi through a main objective, which sounded pretty fun. Destroy the source. The Kaishin was excited and could not wait to get to work.

Katsu waved to the woman as she set back off, and there they walked down to the ship. It was a short walk, for the Yukigakure ninja. His booted feet were used to fighting to walk through heavy snow, so this was surely a delight. Almost forgetting about Fukuyu, she suddenly summoned a weapon. "Hooly sh-crap!" Shouted Katsu, the child held a large halberd. His face bright red, this girl isn't playing around!

Menma awoke. having found his clones had stopped existing as soon as he had fallen asleep. he had been spared the chakra drain of keeping them up, and had even learned something useful about the clones. As he sighed gently, he woke up and madehis way down. seeing the twins acting oddly. But he didnt think much of it. their red eyes told him they had not slept much. "While it may not have been needed, i had hoped it would help. But it seems my clones are not the kind to stay after their master has drifted into the world of dreams. I have learned a valuble lesson today." They then departed for the island and as they landed, the young girl who traveled with them produced a halbard. Menma, while shocked, continued forward. "This is such an age when even children must learn to fight with an adults weapon. How i miss my age." He sighed gently. "Come then, let us find the dreaming monsters and send them into the long goodnight."

On the ship, the group was free to converse and exchange thoughts on the looming threat that was on the island of Jiro as the twins navigated to the west of the central Haha isle. Not much was said by either of the twins, who were too high and stupefied to function properly; yet, they were still able to steer through the placid waters towards the dark island. The watercraft landed at the lower part of Jiro sometime in the early afternoon and anchor was set. Katsu, Menma and Fukuyu were free to leave the ship and venture into the wilderness. The only thing that the twins could tell them about the wailing terrors was that they seemed to come from the middle of the island, where an intricate labyrinth system had been created naturally within the caves.

Soon, nightmares would become prevalent in this region, as shadows danced off of the foliage in the jungles of Jiro Island..

Night had since settled across the world and the focal point of Jiro Island seemed to emanate some spooky aura. The wails that every sailor could hear coming from within the island echoed throughout the surrounding area, a good kilometer away from the island itself. Fukuyu had been sitting at the port side of the ship, and had since departed on to the actual island once the twins dropped anchor. Her large halberd had turned into a smaller sized weapon, indicating that she knew the processes in which to change weapon sizes. Somehow, the ninja from the Hidden Snow had managed to abandon ship, which would be unfortunate because he possessed the capabilities to easily subdue these nightmarish creatures.

Now it was up to Menma and the small child to investigate the wanton occurrences happening on Jiro. Had they ventured away from the beach area, they would find themselves immersed in a wet jungle with vines that appeared serpentine in the local darkness. Luckily, Fukuyu also possessed a nature for Katon, and lit a torch to aid their eyes in the search for the far-off cavern.

It would appear that even Menma hadn't the gumption to conquer the wailing terrors of Jiro Island; the crystal nin had fled, leaving the young female by her lonesome with the twins. Since the task had been far too much for a single child, they returned to the main island of Sea Country and recruited a different slew of shinobi.

After a while, most of the terrors had succumbed to death, which yielded a successful venture to those who had taken the place of the previous team. Of course, remnants of the cavernous entities still survived and lived, keeping to the shadows to keep from the clutches of death.

.. Perhaps in the future, another series of spooky events would come from Jiro isle, and help would be needed once more.
