The hike continued longer than expected. As attuned to Dusk’s movements as I was, I had not realized that I had ventured off the path toward Tsuchi no Kuni and had ended up somewhere else instead. The weather soon turned from reasonably sunny to a drizzle while the once bluish sky had suddenly turned a dull putty grey. Whisking out my map, I unroll it and gaze upon the parchment in wonder. Just where was I?
“Dusk.” I say softly, alerting my travelling companion of my brief halt. The jaguar stopped moving at the sound of my voice and simply stared at me before eventually making her approach. While she did so, I pull out a kunai from my chest rig and laid it out upon a flattened section of the ground alongside the map. I then laid out the fan across the jaguar, parchment, kunai and myself to block out the rain before weaving through the Bird and Dragon handseals.
Raiton chakra entered the kunai and for a moment the projectile simply span around once before pointing north. I then shifted my amber gaze to the map and realized that I had strayed east toward Ame no Kuni instead of Tsuchi no Kuni. I frown. “This is not right,” I murmur, moving my gaze between the map and kunai. I should have been traveling north. The point of the kunai was indeed facing north, so I pick up the kunai, place it back into its slot in my rig and rolled up the map once more.
Dusk raised her dark head to me before moving out around my fan as I folded it and strapped it back to my back. I point north of our position and Dusk turned around and walked in said direction with me not that far behind.
Move to Tsuchi no Kuni pleaseKunai rashinban (Kunai compass). [10]
Rank: “D” Rank.
Skill: Ninjutsu.
Effect: The user channels a little chakra in a kunai to make it point towards north.
Special: Bird and dragon.
Drawback: Have to know how to use a real compass, or else, the jutsu will be useless.
Description: By using the magnetic forces in the earth, a shinobi can use it to their advantage if they are lost. They lay a kunai on the ground, and channel a little chakra in it. The blade will then point towards the north, while the handle will point to south. This jutsu can be extremely useful when lost or if you don’t have a compass to use.
Limit: Has to know lightning release.
