(POI) (Broker) Center Star Pawn

[The Doctor]

The Handler walked into the Center Star Pawn. It was the Broker for the city capital Meikyoku of the Country of Sound. He walked in wearing a thin striped blue and white long sleeved dress shirt. His tie was a dark lavender color. Over the dress shirt was his dark gray five button, four pocketed vest. His light gray cleanly pressed slacks was held up by a single dark brown leather simple belt. The coat he wore over the shirt was a was an opened blue suit jacket, dark blue in color. The Fedora on his head was dark brown with a lighter brown strip around the brim of the hat.

When the Handler walked in he was carrying a large amount of his Ryo on hand. He came in with a purpose, and it was to start using some of the services of the B.I.N.G.O. He already had gained somewhat of a reputation with the B.I.N.G.O., using them as a business medium for transactions. Hopefully there would be no issues with him purchasing some Emerald Obolus and a Bank account.

When he entered, he started to look for Athenas Toreas. he knew she was the more straightforward of the two brokers in this establishment. The Handler did not want to waste time. He was here on business, and business was something they were in for.

There was frost in the air when the handler descended upon the known trading ground of B.I.N.G.O. associates, but a far greater frost was inside. No, the shop was not poorly heated - a mediocre fire was burning keeping the air pleasant enough. But, the woman behind the desk didn't appear to be in any sort of warm mood. She was sharpening a knife behind the counter - a knife that, by its steely glint, did not appear to need any sharpening to speak of. With an angry rhythmic stroke, she scraped away at the blade, a ceremonial old thing, no doubt native to the Land of Sound. It was Athenas, alright.

She glanced up at the sound of the Handler coming in, only to return to sharpening her knife until she was approached. If it took particularly long for the Handler to come forward, she would return the knife to the empty place in its holder, and grab yet another dagger and begin sharpening that. Hopefully her less-than-sunny outlook on life at the moment would not impact her business dealings.

The Handler reached the counter, but kept a good two feet away. He stopped, hands by his sides and gave a quip smile. His eyes somewhat glazed as if he wasn't necessarily looking at her but, through the young woman.

"Forgive me," he said calmly, yet quickly. "It's a little bit nippy in here isn't it?" he asked rhetorically. He noticed the knives, and flashed another grin. "Years ago I was in the Country of Water and ran into a quaint little side circus by an Inn outside the city capital," he started small talk, pulling out an envelope. "And there was this gentleman who had a deep fascination over knives similar to yours," he continued, pointing to the knife in her hand with the envelope. "Well anyways, he had this remarkable ability to throw it, while blind folded," he said with a laugh, pausing briefly. "And still hit the target in front of him. It was truly remarkable." he finished while taking another step to the counter. "I'm sorry I'm here on business," he said in a chipper tone, trying to "ease" the tension. But how he talked you could tell this was a defusing technique. "I'm in the need of purchasing twenty two Emerald Obolus, and I would love to speak to your pawnbroker in opening an account," he finished, emphasizing the word "love" in mid sentence.

The strong woman would continue with her knives as the demolitionist made lighthearted banter, covering up his true motive. She would hold the knife by its blade as he approached, and look at him sideways as he told his story about a blindfolded juggler at some distant circus. As the story was finished, she would take the bait to a small extent, but seem rather distraught. "I know a girl who could do you one better. She can't see at all, and she could do that sort of party trick." She would glance down at the envelope now, attempting to evaluate by its thickness whether it contained information (being relatively thin) or banknotes (being relatively thick.) Certainly, if he wanted that quantity of oboli with that envelope, it would be filled to the brim - with money or with information. 

"Twenty-two?" She would ask, tossing the knife haphazardly down on the counter near where the man was standing. "You paying in cash, news, or promises?" She would continue, brushing her hair out of her face as she reached behind the counter to retrieve some sort of ledger.

The Handler gave a nod and quipped and another grin as she mentioned the knife thrower she knew. "Amazing isn't it. How people find their knack ins skills is just, beyond me." He said waving the envelope some in his mannerism. The envelope was truly thick, looked like it was about to burst open.

When the young woman asked how The Handler was paying for the Emerald Obolus he quickly tossed the envelope onto the counter. Inside the envelope was the amount of Ryo required for that amount of Obolus. If the math was correct it would be three million and eight hundred thousand ryo in the envelope. They were marked in very large bills for whatever that amounted to. "Cash of course," he responded to her question. "News is worth so much more, and promises are worth toilet paper after use," he said with seriousness in his voice. His tone was different. It was calm, low, and soft.

There is little that speaks louder in a shop such as this than cold, hard cash.

The envelope would hit the counter with a bit of a thud. Athenas would place the ledger book next to it, and, without opening the envelope, would slide it over to the knife. The knife - apparently more than suitably sharpened - would slice open the side of the envelope, revealing the corner of the pile of banknotes within. The broker would reach down and slide her fingers over the bills, flipping through them with tremendous speed - no doubt attempting to confirm that it was approximately the correct number. Of course, not that it mattered. The B.I.N.G.O. had ways of making sure those who came up short paid in full. 

"News is like wine. Worth its weight in god-damned gold if it passes the sniff test. Worth its weight in toilet paper if you're the fifth guy this week to come here and tell me you went to high school with the Human Bomb." She would open up the ledger book, to a page that was half full. If the Handler decided to glance down, he would see little more than rows of encrypted gibberish. Certainly, there was no way to break a B.I.N.G.O. cipher in a glance. "'Course, toilet paper is getting so expensive these days anyways... "

Finally, she would reach down and enter a combination into a locked box beneath the counter. Quickly, she would squat down, fill a small paper bag with the emerald oboli that the Handler was seeking, and fold the bag over on itself. If the Handler had ever handled an emerald obolus before, he would probably be able to estimate the number in the bag, otherwise he would have to either open it or trust her word.

"That's your currency. Now, an account. Tell me what you need."

OOC: I'm getting that 22 emerald obolus = 3,850,000 Ryo, not 3,800,000. I'm assuming you OOC messed up the math. If you IC messed it up (unlike; the Doctor is a master at mathematics), or you're trying to cut the bingo short, let me know via PM before you post and I will revise my actions. .Additionally, I don't think there is any precedence for BINGO accounts, beyond the paragraph under Pawnbroker, so I'm going to be following your lead to a small extent on how you want it to work. Keep in mind that people are probably going to use you as the example.

The Handler looked at the bag. He did not have the skill to approximate coin by a glance so sadly he had to look into the bag. He took a step to the count, raised his hands up to the bag and slowly opened it. He reached in with his hand and pulled out the coins. The Handler separated the coins in a set of fives, making four stacks but kept the last two in his hands.

He then placed the two in his hand in front of the woman before picking up the four stacks. "I'm using those two to open an account with B.I.N.G.O. Two Emerald Obolus means a larger account room," he calmly spoke.

The Doctor as a person had knowledge of B.I.N.G.O and their ways. He knew with these two Emerald Obolus he would be opening up a storage with B.I.N.G.O. Two opened up the doors to a larger room. He was essentially opening a deposit box with B.I.N.G.O. Granted it was a very large deposit box, two conjoined storage rooms. These rooms were only accessible by going to a B.I.N.G.O station, meeting a Pawnbroker, and the Pawnbroker teleporting the person to the room, and when the person was ready they were teleported back. It was a great way of keeping someone hidden, and their valuables safe from prying eyes.

The Handler would slowly pull all the money out of the bag, and find it just as he would like it. The woman smirked a little bit as she watched the man leaf through a large piles of some of the most valuable coins in all the worlds. The obolus collection would meet the criteria, all twenty-two appeared to be genuine currency.

The woman would look at the Handler slowly, and then grab a pen to mark down another row of incomprehensible code into the business ledger. Once that was done, she would speak in a very careful tone. "Alright. I can call the Pawnbroker. But I'm going to have to give you your account number." She would say, taking the Oboli into her hand and placing them aside for the moment.

"7-5-0-7-9-1-2-4-A as in alpha-5-G as in golf. Think you can remember that, or do you need it written down?" She would repeat the number more slowly, if the Handler needed it. "75079124A5G." Then, if all was settled, she would walk over to an old antique radio set, and turn it on. The buzz of static would come to life, and she would begin to mutter into the handset.

"Papa bravo, november sierra delta bravo, sierra india zulu echo india india."

A reply would come through a moment later. "Charlie." With that, there would be radio silence, and Athenas would stare at the radio for a few moments. A minute later, a reply would come. "India charlie!" The voice sounded urgent.

As the Handler watched, across the room, next to an old grandfather clock, a man would appear. "Good evening, sir. Is this 75079124A5G?" He would say, looking at the Handler. The man was... oddly dressed, wearing a loose  sweater, a dark pair of pants and sneakers, with a beanie hat to complete the look. If he received any sort of confirmation that this was the new account holder, he would reach out his hand. "Come with me. I can show you your new deposit box."

He waited with a smile for the Handler to join him.

The Handler took a few steps back and pocketed the rest of the Emerald Obolus. He began pacing somewhat. As the woman mentioned the bank account number he etched it into his mind. Buried it deep within his memory castle. '75079124A5G,' he thought to himself. 'Handler, 75079124A5G,' he thought to himself again.

Then, the pawnbroker appeared. A young man, hipster looking fellow. he shrugged it off however, as this was B.I.N.G.O. and it mattered not how they looked. Their services was indistinguishable to any other organization.

"Come with me. I can show you your new deposit box." the young man said to the handler.

Giving a nod the Handler followed. "Excellent," he said calmly.

The man would smell faintly of cigarettes as the Handler took his hand, and in the blink of an eye the pair would be teleported into a room somewhere. It was a dark stone room, with shelves all around, and no windows to speak of. Two light bulbs, letting off faint, along with a subtle buzz. One wall was totally bricked off, and the others appeared to be stone.

"Underground. Abandoned warehouse through that wall, but there's two feet of brick in between. Anything short of a rave or a bunch of explosions going on in here and its totally private. Nobody can get in except us." He scraped his sneakered toe over a collection of seals drawn on the floor, which obviously he used to enter here.

"I can leave and come back, if you need a moment to yourself. Or I can just hang here and take you out when you're done. I'm not nosy. Whatever you're doing, it's your thing." The man would step towards the wall of the room and lean back, waiting for further instructions.

(OOC: I was waiting to bring this up in person but it's cool. So I updated the way the room works. I'll be making a separate thread that I teleport into. That will be the vault thread. The account holder gets teleported to that thread, and gets to come back when they are ready. Then I can come into this thread and leave as normal. Thanks for the quick RP and helping me out with opening an account. I appreciate it Y).

The Handler shook his head some as he stared towards the direction he needed to go. "No, I think I can handle. I'll come back on my own and leave. Thank you," he answered with a calm, low voice before he would leave through the seal, and enter the Vault for the first time.

The Handler came back from the teleportation circle and left his Vault. He headed out of the Broker and left the area.

Loden came to the Broker Pawnshop. Loden was a tall, thin man who wore a brown rideback jacket, black jeans, black shirt and black boots. Inside his jacket was a harness rig and a plethora of pouches with items inside. Loden came to the Bingo counter and placed 2 Emerald Obolus on top.

"I need 2 services," he said to the owner. "First, I need the Bingo to search for a book for me. Formula Book of Bodrak the Broken. It's incredibly rare. I'll give the Ryo now to pay for the book, and then the 2nd coin is to deliver the book to my home when it is found." he said to the broker.

The book cost 140,000 Ryo, the first coin was to find the book, the 2nd coin was to deliver the book. Loden pulled out a piece of paper and pen, wrote down the address in the Country of Waterfall, in the city capital, as the home for Loden was located there.

[The Bingo]

The bingo agent looked at the man carefully as he took in his request. He paused for a moment as he listened carefully and after a while simply nodded. The man wrote down the name of the book on a small scrap of parchment. After he did he walked over to a small fire burning in the furnace. He tossed the parchment into the fire and it glowed a bright blue for a half second. There was a short pause and the fire glowed green in response.

"A copy is on your way to your home. It's been a pleasure working with you." The man said as he took the payment.

Loden had paid the man. He was surprised he was able to get what he wanted. However this was money worth spent. Sadly this wasn't something he'd be willing to do often. It was too expensive. The Loden needed the book though. First he needed to travel back to his home in Waterfall. Then he can take the book, study on it, and expand his Alchemy even more.

He turned, left the broker and headed out.

When one knows BINGO, they cannot help but see it everywhere; as the ideals of the Bureau lend themselves neither to absolute secrecy nor to definite limitations on action. In order to be useful, BINGO services must be recognizable, but also discreet. Somebody looking to communicate with the organization must be able to do so, but also be confident that it will not be obvious how or when they do it. An experienced dealer with such secrets knows how to see where the BINGO could be, and check whether or not they are.

A pawn shop such as this one was a classic example. Pawnbrokers are always seedy, always profit-oriented, and always dealers in the questionable. As a result, a pawn shop would be an excellent place for a BINGO warehouse to hide. The true art lied in signaling to a BINGO agent that they were required without accidentally signaling to an everyday dealer in used goods that you were in town looking for something in particular.

The illusionist strolled into the pawn shop, and wandered a little bit, examining odd bits and ends, scrolls full of nonsense, an old trombone with the poorly forged maker's mark of a famed instrument manufacturer. He reached out and polished what looked to be a genuine Uchiha clan crest with the trailing sleeve of his shirt, only to realize that top arc of the uchiwa was inverted, making the whole thing look rather silly. He would let out a small chuckle, just loud enough for the storekeeper to hear. The message was clear - this individual was either a member of that prestigious clan, or somewhat versed in their ways.

Satisfied with his inspection of what could be paltry or real pawned goods, he would wander up to the counter and look whoever stood there in the eye. "I was wondering if you guys had any good literature on hand." He said, turning his head to the side ever-so-slightly as his voice inflected. "I know it seems kinda weird to buy books at a pawn shop, but I'm kinda strapped for cash at the moment."

The sentence's apparent significance would be obvious to any listener: the man was looking for a cheap book. However, one experienced in the ways of the BINGO would know that there is a book that is better than cheap for someone needing money. The genjutsu master's wallet contained approximately 40 thousand ryo.

Finally, the young man would reach up over his eyes, itching his forehead for a few seconds, and allow his ring to interrupt their eye contact for a second. If the uchiwa emblem passing over a man's eyes was not clear enough to suggest an interest in the BINGO Book, he would know that this was not an establishment run by the Bureau.

The shop keep wasn't an idiot--- he could read through what body language and phrases the lazy looking man used. Ayumu was a man interested in something that wasn't usually showcased in the pawn shop area. He looked into the man's black eyes with his own silver set and then nudged his head towards the left. 

"Follow me this way.." The two gentlemen, if either one of these freak shows could be called that, entered a more covert room in the pawn shop, which had pictures of men and women hanging up with bounties underneath their portraits. The silver-haired man would open a small pin pad, enter a series of numbers that his opposite could not discern and instantly, a bookshelf appeared from within the wall. It was full of BINGO books, each one large and filled with information on the highest ranking criminals in the known ninja world. "Heheheh.. so this is what ya want, huh?" His eyes wandered over towards the man's hand that held his family heirloom. The keep would nod, acknowledging the thing. "So what Uchiha did you manage to kill in order to get that?.. You don't even look like the motivated type." Some interactions were forced, and others were natural. It would seem that this shop keeper held some interest in this nonchalant looking man...

But how ever he answered, the keeper of tomes would hoist a large BINGO book in the air. He seemed supernaturally possessed of inhuman strength, undoubtedly Kamyuja. "You know the price. Pay what you owe then you're free to go try your hand at death, if that is your wish, my friend..."

When the agent of BINGO spoke to the young Uchiha, he would immedaitely begin to shake his head. What Uchiha did I kill? He would smile as the man reached into the box, and speak quietly. "My family was here in Oto no Kuni on the night of the fall." He would say, somewhat solemnly. The genocide's wounds were still fresh in the hearts of his people. Some feared all ninja, some were even afraid to bear the mark of the clan publicly. "I owe my clan a great debt. The motivated type perished in Konohagakure no Sato and in Kusagakure." [1]

The little black book was impressive. It contained a great deal of human knowledge, knowledge of crimes, and vengeance. He was certain he would find no fewer than a dozen of his own kin marked for death inside those pages. Uchiha amibtions had the tendency to bring death to those who practice it. There was a reason the clan was only a fraction of its ancient size in today's world.

"Thanks, man. Let's hope this investment pays off, for both of us."

The pawnbroker made the typical 'yeesh' face and then shoo'd the man along. He was sure he would see him again some time down the road if he ever ventured back north into the land of Rice Fields...
