The cool winds blew calmly as Amira traveled down the street. "What a calm day..." The young Kazekage thought to herself as she let each foot fall of her dark uniform sandals create an imprint in the loose sand that covered the sandstone steers of Sunagakure. Her intent was clear as she made her way towards the academy building that she was more than familiar with. Having visited there as a child, the Kazekage had spent many hours building block houses to knock down with shuriken like many children did when they were young. "My how things have changed..." She muttered quietly reflecting on how much responsibility she now had.
Shoving her hands into her dark pant pocket, she trudged along letting her headdress fly back in the wind as the long stresses of the past began to flood back into view. She was just about 100 meters or so from the academy building when she heard a familiar voice from behind. Amira stopped and sighed as she recognized the familiar voice of Yukio, her old babysitter from years ago when her mother had been in the hospital giving birth to her brother Gasume. "So? What brings you here oh mighty Kazekage?" She heard the feminine voice mock as Amira began to hear footsteps behind her. Turning to face the woman that she still considered a friend, she found a few surprising facts as she looked over the woman's body.
"You're pregnant?" Amira asked right out of the gates as she noticed how round the woman's belly had gotten while she had been so preoccupied with tending to the village that she must have been oblivious to life of her friend. "Yup, about five months no actually." She said with a cocky smile that alleviated Amira's worries only slightly. "I'm sorry that I wasn't aware...I've been preoccupied, how about you walk with me?" Amira offered as the pregnant woman sighed with discontent. "You don't stop for anyone do you kid?" Yukio said jokingly as she began to waddle her way forward to match the slow pace that Amira had set.
"So are you and Gai getting married?" Amira asked in a hallow tone as they continued on towards the school. Amira figured the answer would be yes, but she knew that there was not always the best in people's hearts. "Yeah, we are hoping to have a ceremony after all of this gets handled." She laughed patting her stomach gently. Amira couldn't help but smile as she watched her old friend's content with her situation. The young Kazekage doubted that it would be easy carrying then raising a child, especially in her position as the village leader. As the school came into view Amira let a quaint smile cross her face, "I hope that everything goes well for you, I know that life is going to start getting difficult so good luck." Amira said softly as they closed in on the academy's entrance. "I'm sorry I can't talk much longer, but duty calls." She joked quietly as she turned towards the door to attempt ending the conversation there. As she placed her hands upon the cool brass door knob, she heard Yukio speak one last time. "Hey kid, just don't over work yourself okay?" She heard her friend say as she slowly pushed open the door. Looking back with a glare of nonchalance, Amira quietly muttered "yeah..." As she pushed open the academy doors to find the long hallways, wooden floors, and room number labels above the door just as she had expected.
"Alright...preschool is in 107" she said quietly to herself as she looked along the first floor corridor for the sign that would denominate the room that she would be entering. As she walked down the hallway, a few of the Chuunin instructors and Genin adjuncts bowed their heads as they passed her. The constant respect wasn't something that she cared for very much, but all the same it happened occasionally, especially out in public like she was. As she came down to the seventh room down the hall to the left she noticed the room indicated that it was in fact the room she had been looking for, 107.
As she pushed the sliding door open, the young Kazekage noticed how disorganized the room looked at first glance. The class cheered and played, ignorant to the many terrors that village shinobi battled each day. "Class, today we have a very special guest!" the frazzled teacher that had spoken with her at the tower announced as she walked in. Amira felt her head shrink back as suddenly all of the attention was upon her. "Please welcome the lady Kazekage, of Sunagakure." The teacher woman said clapping as her class followed suit. "Uh...hi." Was all Amira could stammer out as she raised her hand to wave slightly before the mass of young children.
