Jod Muay
Rank: "E" Rank
Type: TaiJutsu
Effect: The basic posture of the Muay Thai Style. The basic posture needed in order to move on into the more advanced techniques of the Muay Thai style. The Jod Muay is the basic step of defending but Muay is the martial art that uses the eight limbs, two hands, two shins, two knees, and two elbows to fight the opponent.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Picture The leading foot should be pointed straight, while the other is positioned to angle at ninety degrees whilst raising the heel of the back foot. Both the knees and the body are straight, designed to create posture. Arch the back backwards slightly. This allows power to be generated for the legs. The chin must remain in the same posture as the shoulders; in essence, this means that the user must lower their chin to be level with the shoulders, while raising the shoulders and the arms for guarding purposes. The next step is to grasp the hands, keeping them raised to face level, crafting a guard with the forearms to allow defending against oncoming attacks. The eyes are straight forward, locking onto the opponent's abdomen for full view of oncoming strikes against the upper or lower body.
Limit: Must learn from a Muay Thai Master.
“Today we will be delving into something a bit different” Goki explained as he guided shenjie over to the punching bag once again. “Today we will be implementing Muay Thai concepts into your already decent boxing knowledge.” Goki said as Shenjie took on a boxing stance. His body was turned to the side, actually putting on a basic stance fairly well. His feet were balanced on his toes as his heels were propped up so that he could effectively utilize the foot work that he had spent almost a year building up. “Hmm, not bad for a starting stance…but you should probably keep your front foot forward.” Goki said pushing Shenjie’s foot forward so that it faced the bag. Shenjie kept his chin down, just like in boxing, and began to throw punches at the bag to help demonstrated the slightly different feel of the stance. Shenjie noticed that his body’s positioning was obviously more oriented toward throwing force into the hits opposed to being as quick as a boxer would be. His physical body would involve shifting his weight a bit more as well, which could be advantageous in combat. The young Shitakuma also felt how liberated his knee’s felt. He felt as if he could throw a kick easily from this boxing stance, opposed to utilizing a regular upright boxing stance. The similar concept help him understand how to move his body as he attempted to throw one of the Goutetsu kicks.
“Heyah!” he exclaimed as his leg swung around and connected with the bag before he returned his leg back down to the propped out ready position. “This stance will give you a better boxing and kicking mobility to add onto what you already know my pupil.” Goki explained as shenjie quickly practiced a basic three punch combo before throwing a side kick that pounded the bag with much more force from this stance than that of some of the other fighting stances that he was already acquainted with. As His body began to feel how much power the stance offered him, shenjie continued to practice the basic moves and motions that were fundamental in understanding basic fighting. His Punches felt slightly awkward from the position; however with time, eventually he would probably begin to feel how much more he could do with the stance. Eventually Shenjie would begin practicing with elbows and knees that would only slight hit the bag. “You have to breathe!” Goki shouted as he shenjie continued to try his best to create an impact on the bag. “I’m trying!” Shenjie yelled back in response as he did his best to switch his mind set to this fighting style.
