A chilly wind enveloped the wide open landscape, casting a few small specks of snow to dance along the blades of grass that stood up like the needles of a porcupine. The snow had not stuck yet and was blowing gently along the ground. The blades of grass continued to dance on their own accord despite the frosty weather while above was a white blanket of clouds moving snail-like through the sky. No peaks of the normal blue sky visible; it appeared as if the sun was still deciding whether it should shine or remain hidden beneath the clouds.
The landscape itself would have been deemed beautiful if the sun was shining, accompanied by a warm breeze and the occasional flower. But today the field simply looked barren and cold, shivering beneath the harshness of winter. But as barren and cold and morbid as the landscape had appeared, to two people it was simply a field for use. A field that was silently begging for use, it was as if by running around or simply using the landscape would thaw the snow and the icy feeling and bring forth life again.
Anais’s feet created crunching noises as she moved through the pathway leading deeper into the field. With a sweep of her ice blue eyes, she found that currently the field was uninhabited and therefore was of fair game. “The field is clear, Adelle, you can come out now.” Anais’s cool voice matched the landscape and environment around her. A stirring behind her signified that Adelle was slowly emerging from her sister to look around.
Dressed in a pair of knee high combat boots, short black denim shorts and a thin scrap of leather for a bikini top hiding beneath an full length black trench coat the Futakongo twins were clearly not dressed appropriately for this kind of weather. “You’re kidding me, right? It’s as barren as a wasteland!” Adelle’s soft voice floated along with the wind as she stepped out of her sister’s body and shivered in the cold. “Relax, sister you’ll warm up when we begin training.” Anais rolled her eyes and turned to face her sister.
Staring at Adelle felt like staring at herself in a mirror. It was almost impossible to tell the twin sisters apart from a few minor things. It would appear as if the twins were clones of one person rather than actual sisters. A shield (heavy) was attached to Anais’s right arm on top of a gauntlet while a medium sized umbrella stuck out from the right side of her back, providing enough space for Adelle to enter and exit at will; said umbrella held 228 senbon needles. A medium sized disk was strapped to the left of Anais’s side while her butt bag consisting of 6 kunai, 48 hira shuriken and one mono-goggle capable of camera and night vision with the zoom capacity of 25 metres – was attached to her right side for easy access.
A lone Mandolin was attached to Anais’s back beside the umbrella. “So what do you want to learn first?” Adelle asked, glancing around the landscape a second time and grabbing the mandolin from Anais’s back. She was edgy with being around people whilst outside of the haven of her sister’s body. Anais shrugged and handed her sister the shield to which Adelle had strapped to her back. “I’ll let you train for now, you can use me as a target.” A sly smile crept upon Anais’s lips as she watched her shivering sister.
Adelle paused long enough for the information to sink in before she simply shrugged. “Fine, hand over twenty four shuriken and three kunai.” She said, holding out her right hand. Once the items were handed over, Anais quickly performed a shunshin and retreated 10 metres away from her sister. “Hit me with your best shot!” She declared with a grin. Adelle knew she had 12 hours to train without fear of permanent separation so she decided to get started.
