User instills courage in the subject, granting it a +4 morale bonus against fear effects for 10 minutes plus 5 minutes per Class Level. If the subject is under the influence of a fear effect when receiving the Jutsu, that effect is suppressed for the duration of the Jutsu.
Limit: Must be a Medical Doctor.

There were some noises coming at him from the side and people talking. He could vaguely see white moving around as he peeked through one eye. The white turned to black again and Ban was out once more. When he did fully wake up, Ban was confused as to where he was. This wasn't the operating room. Ban pushed himself up on his elbow, grunting at the power it required. He looked around for a moment and recognized one of the many patient rooms in the hospital. Why was he here? Ban tried to remember what had happened but came up empty. Most likely someone had brought him here.

Ban looked around and saw a second bed in the room, next to his, that was taken by another patient. For a moment, Ban tried to get up properly but then promptly decided that it wasn't a good idea. He dropped back on the bed and closed his eyes to get some more rest. He felt tired. Ban wasn't sure how much time had passed when the silent darkness he was in was broken through by a repeating small sound. Like two things kept ticking against each other.

The young doctor in training tried to ignore it but the sound continued. Sighing, Ban pushed himself up on both hands until he was sitting in his bed and looked around. There was nothing around that seemed to be making the noise. No bird tapping the window and no other people tapping their foot while waiting. Then Ban remembered the other bed and looked over to it. Indeed, there was someone under the sheets but he couldn't see them as they had the sheets pulled over their head.

The noise seemed to be coming from their direction. "Would you mind keeping it down a bit, yes?" Ban said to the pile of linen the person was under. No response. Ban repeated his question-slash-order. Nothing. With effort, Ban managed to lift the sheets from his legs and moved them over the side. The rest of his body followed as he tried to put weight on his legs. Everything seemed to be in order as he moved over to the other bed but the noise was definitely coming from here.

"Hey, are you alright?" Ban said as he touched whoever was bundled up in the linen with his hand on what he assumed was their shoulder. There was a sudden scream from beneath the the sheets as it suddenly burst upwards. Ban jumped back, both hands on the empty space on his left hip where his sword normally was. The girl was screaming for a moment until she realised that there was nothing worth screaming about. A nurse ran in to see the girl sitting in her bed, staring at Ban. "Sorry." Ban had his hands up as an apology.

"We're not really sure what caused it but she's afraid of everything. She hasn't slept in two days because of it, constantly waking up screaming." Ban looked from the girl to the nurse. "You haven't cured it yet?" The nurse looked from the girl to Ban. "The doctor is busy with the accident for now." "I know how to do it." Ban piped up but the nurse immediately shook her head and started walking around the bed. "You're a patient for now. You're supposed to be in bed anyway." She was gentle but firm as she pushed Ban back to his bed.

--Flashback--
Ban was putting what little weight he had at the age of thirteen down on the other boy's legs as he kept screaming. The kid's father had his hands down above the kid's head, preventing as much movement as possible, but the kid kept squirming and trying to get away from Ban's mother. "He keeps yelling something about the shadows coming to get him and we can't stop him." The father said loudly over his son's screaming. Ban looked at his mother as she focused for a moment and her hands covered themselves with a green glow.

"Fear can come from different things, Ban, but the things that stop it are usually the same for everyone. What makes you less afraid?" Ban looked from his mother to the kid's father and saw that he was worried and impatient but Ban knew his mother well enough to know that she was in charge of the situation. "Well... There's you and dad, of course. And... oh, the sun on my face and the sound of the forests I also like. Spending time with you and dad is also always fun." His mother smiled at him as she placed her hands on the screaming boy's temples.

"Exactly, so we simply do that with our chakra. The more we know about someone the better because we can use better images and feelings but there are always things that everyone likes." Ban's mother focused on her task as the green glowing hands moved over the kid's temples and head, slowly floating as she did her work. After a few minutes the screaming stopped and the trashing slowed down until finally the boy lay completely still. "I'll keep him here for a few days until I can cleanse him completely."
--Flashback--

Ban pushed the sheets aside and slid out of his bed. He wasn't a patient he was a doctor in the making and he could fix this girl. Or help her at least because fixing someone was sometimes impossible. The girl hadn't moved since he had been put to bed, simply sitting up in her bed staring at nothing in front of her. "Hey. It's me again. Shhh. Just trying to help. See, just nice, friendly lights." Ban spoke with her as he moved his hands up, glowing with the healing green chakra that was the staple of every good medical shinobi. When she started to flinch away he shushed her in his best cat-capturing-voice, a skill he had mastered during his academy years.

Ban gently placed his fingers against the girl's temples and started to mold his chakra. He tried to think of everything that made him happy, as it he had no clue who this girl was or what she liked. His early morning stroll helped tremendously as Ban started to shape his cleansing skill with the effects of his morning stroll.

The feelings he had when the sunlight cut through the canopy in sharp lines, when insects buzzed about in their busy and important lives, when he saw a beautiful flower or when he spotted that deer drinking. The memory of the smell of the forest molded itself into the chakra in his hands as Ban gently pushed it into the girl's temples. Like his mother had done before him, Ban stroked her hair softly as he spread his chakra all over her head and brain.

When he looked at the girl he noticed her eyes weren't shifting like a trapped cat anymore but she was just looking at him, in a half influenced state, as if she was a bit high on pain killers. A sight that many doctor's were used to seeing. Ban continued to push his chakra into the girl, shaping and changing her fear into the good feelings his molded chakra invoked with her. When he finally removed his hands, the girl seemed much sharper and the chattering noise of her teeth hitting together was gone. Ban smiled at her. "Now, let's get you some sleep."

Cleanse, Wound

Description: A technique devised for whenever a Medical Doctor is low on Chakra. The user performs this technique over a wound allowing the chakra to clean any wound to ensure infection does not take place. Afterwards the user may bandage the wound. This technique was devised just in case the user does not have any anti-disinfectant chemicals while having low chakra reserves to fully heal a wound.
Limit: Must be a Medical Doctor.

Ban was looking at his neighbor from his own bed, resting against the head of the bed as he watched her breathe peacefully. The girl had gone to sleep before Ban had even been able to finish his cleansing fully. He had to support her and gently put her down before finishing his cleansing but now she was quietly sleeping. The nurse had come in afterwards to check on her and gave Ban a long hard stare which he shrugged away with a smile.

Dr. Takara walked in as Ban was looking at the girl and he looked up at him. "Ban, would you mind helping out? If you're up for it." Ban nodded and slid out of his bed. He quickly checked on the girl to make sure everything was fine before leaving after the doctor. "Another batch of people came in with various wounds. You won't be joining the major operation again today but could you help with the minor wounds?" Ban was about to protest his lack of major operations but he quieted down when Dr. Takara gave him the doctor-knows-best look.

Dr. Takara handed him over to one of the nurses and Ban followed her. "They just need prepping for medical care, no need to heal them with your chakra. You won't have enough to help all of them. Just clean their wounds and bandage them up, that should be enough. They'll heal naturally over the next few days." Ban nodded and walked past the curtain to his first patient.

"So? How did this happen, hmm?" Ban looked at the shallow cut on the little girl's arm as he moved closer. He gently picked her arm up and checked it out. Dirt and dust had gotten stuck in the wound, most likely a falling wound. "I fell and cut my arm on a rock while playing." Ban smiled at her and put her arm back down. "Let's quickly fix that, shall we." Ban smiled and moved his hands up, hovering them just in front of the wound.

Ban focused and started to mold his chakra, pulling it up from his stomach and pushing it through his arms to his hands. The green glow appeared quickly as he started to cleanse the wound. "This may sting a bit but there's candy in it for you if you don't cry." Ban pushed his chakra into the wound and let it flow through her skin and the cut in her arm. He set to work as he could hear the girl suck in a breath through her teeth, determined not to cry.

Ban brought his chakra to the top of the wound and gathered it there. From there he started pushing the chakra downwards through the cut. While the girl didn't feel the chakra move, the dirt and dust that got moved with it would feel uncomfortable, if not painful for her. Focusing on the bigger pieces first, Ban pushed his chakra against the largest of the dirt pieces, barely a fraction of his little finger nail. The chakra pushed against it and the piece of dirt shuddered before shifting slightly.

Ban continued to exert pressure on the dirt as it moved further down the cut. The movement of the dirt opened up the wound again and a trickle of blood started moving down the cut as well but in this case, the blood only helped to remove more of the dirt. Ban pushed the dirt out at the end of the cut and it fell down on the table. Ban focused and reinforced his chakra before circling it back around to the top of the cut. "See, it's not so bad."

With his chakra gathering at the top again, Ban narrowed his focus on the smaller pieces this time. His chakra pushed down and with it came a tiny layer of dark matter, which didn't match with the pink and red color of the cut skin. The lower he pushed, the thicker the layer of darkness on top of his chakra became. When he pushed it out at the bottom of the cut, it fell like a drop onto the table where it splat open on the hard surface. Ban checked the little girl for a moment before making the final pass.

He had removed all the visible dirt and dust in the wound, now it was time for the bits he couldn't see. He tightened his chakra up even more for the third pass and circled up top for the third time. With a strong push forward, Ban's chakra moved down the cut. This time, the chakra seemed to have no visual effect but the red blood looked clearer and clearer as it continued to trickle out of the wound. He could the girl moan in pain as he passed halfway but Ban pushed further on. Once he got through this he would be done so it was better to do it now. A few moments later, Ban was dipping some treated fluff against the wound to absorb the trickling blood until it stopped bleeding for the most part.

"There we go, that wasn't so bad." Ban said to the girl as he wiped away the last of the blood from the wound. All better now. "You just sit here for a moment, I will be right back with that candy I promised you. You did really well." Ban smiled at her as he stood up and walked out the curtained room into the busy hallway. He crossed it and went straight for the nurse counter in the middle of it all. "I need needle and thread to stitch a wound and some candy." The nurse gave him a quizzical look as she got him the three things he needed. "Thanks."

Ban crossed the hallway and got back into the curtained room, closing the curtain again. "Look what I got for you." Ban said with a big smile as he unwrapped the lollipop and held it out for her. She grabbed it and put it in her mouth. "Fwanks." Ban nodded and sat himself down on his chair again and put the needle and thread on the table next to her. "You'll need some stitches and it'll hurt a bit but I'll try my best to make it as little as possible, ok?" Ban waited for the girl to nod her head and look back to the curtains surrounding the table.

Ban picked up the crooked needle and thread and pushed the thin end of the thread through the needle on the third attempt. Once it was done he tied it tightly to it, as he had been shown when he started work with Dr. Takara. He tugged it a bit to make sure it would remain that way. Satisfied, Ban set to work. He put his hands together and focused on his chakra, molding it and moving it to his hands were it sprung out like a green glow. "You'll feel several pricks but just be a good girl like you were before and there may even be more candy in it for you."

Picking up the needle and thread, Ban began suturing the cut on the girl's arm. It had been deeper and longer than reported in all the chaos so Ban was going to make sure it was properly done while he was here. Ban angled the needle in a ninety degree angle against the girl's skin, about 3 millimeters from the wound because of her young and weak skin. Dr. Takara had repeated it so many time, Ban could probably answer that question in his sleep.

With a gently push, he pushed the needle through her skin and a bit of her flesh and grabbed it on the other side with his hand while pushing his chakra from his free hand into the wound to ease the pain as he pulled the thread through. He did the same thing on the other side, bridging the cut with a thin strip of wire as he pulled the needle through the skin. As he did, his chakra removed most of the pain and uncomfortable feeling of having thread pulled through your body.

With patience and practice, Ban's fingers continued to pull the thread through across the cut and then back, creating a second thread bridge across the cut. As he pulled it close this time, the two pieces of flesh cut apart were pulled together as the thread closed the gap. With the first one done, Ban had an easier time as he continued to work along the cut, sewing it shut. He kept pushing chakra into the girl's arm to ease the pain of the procedure.

Once the whole wound had been sewn shut, Ban still had to tie off the thread so it wouldn't get pulled apart from the strain put on it by simple movements. Ban pushed the needle through twice more, bridging the wound for the last time. With his free hand he reached for one of the many tools lying around, a simple metal rod with a bend at the end used for exactly this purpose. He held the rod against the thread and pulled the needle back and around the rod two times.

With one hand holding the rod, Ban had to try and cross the starting wire with the needle using only one hand. Once he had them crossed, Ban pulled the needle up towards the rod and let the threads slip from the rod over the needle as he pulled it through the double curled thread. The thread turned into a solid bundle of wires and Ban moved the rod up again to the needle, curling the thread around it once more and tied off the end of it using the rod.

Once he was done with that, Ban put the rod down and cut the thread just below the needle with a small pair of scissors. To make sure the girl was alright, Ban used some more chakra to cover the entire sutured wound and ease her pain before looking up at her. He could see she had been crying but he had been either so focused he hadn't noticed or she had managed to stifle the noise. "You'll make an excellent Shinobi one day, little one." Ban smiled at her as he pressed a patch on top of the sutured wound to keep everything properly in place.

"Now all we need is some bandaging and you're free to go. Could you help me do that?"" Ban quickly wiped his hands on a tissue to get rid of the blood as best he could and unrolled the bandage. Ban held the unrolled part below the wound and the still rolled up part above it, just like he had been taught before.

He put the start of it against the girl's arm, in the middle of the patch. "Put your finger right there." Ban tapped the bandage where she should put her finger and the girl did. "Good." He pulled the bandage around her arm, making sure it was tight as he came back to the front. "And again, the same place." Ban pulled the bandage around once more, keeping it tight around her arm.

When he had done two wraps, he started to wrap his way down her arm, making sure that he always kept the next wrap of bandage at least a third over the previous one. He kept pulling on it as he moved the bandage around her arm to just over the end of the wound and then he moved back up, quicker this time, to do the same upwards from his original wrap to just over the top of her wound. "Ok, put your finger here for a moment."

Ban picked up the scissors from before and cut the bandage off, putting the roll aside and holding the end. He carefully tucked the end of the bandage underneath one of his last rolls so it was securely placed. "Alright then. All done. Now, you'll have to keep it on like that for a few days but the nurse will explain everything to you and your parents, ok?" Ban helped the girl off of the table and led her out of the curtained room into the hallway where he handed her over to one of the counter nurses who brought her back to her parents.

Description: Alchemy gives a character the ability to mix compounds and to know what those compounds do. An Alchemist can mix up potions. He can even mix up a mean Long Island Ice Tea. Alchemists have long sought to know the secret of turning lead into gold, but so far, that is an ability beyond their reach. For most other chemical mixtures, an Alchemist can do the trick. The potions mixed by Alchemists are based on natural components. Alchemists can identify potions about 50% of the time and have a +10% to Identify Poison. Mixing Common components is considered Trivial. Mixing Uncommon components is considered Easy. Mixing Rare components is considered Average. Mixing Very Rare components is considered Difficult. Mixing Nearly Impossible components is considered Very Difficult. If user has 25 or more Ranks in Alchemy user gains a Synergy Bonus +10 to Demolitions when interacting with Alchemical Components. If user has 25 or more Ranks in Alchemy user gains a Synergy Bonus +10 to First Aid: Healing. Each time learned user gets 1 die roll to increase the skill.

Ban put the uniform off and rolled it up before throwing it in the basket where someone would take it away and clean it by tomorrow. As an apprentice, Ban didn't get his own uniform but simple hand downs from other doctors that fit him. It was only when he was rolling his uniform up that he realized that he had been running around with a large splatter of blood on his back, probably from the time he had fallen down as that had been the only time he had been in a bloody situation.

When he walked out the hospital, the clock told Ban that he had worked a bit more than an hour of overtime today. He avoided the quick rooftop chakra-based run back home and went the non-shinobi route through the streets. Nothing was as bad as finding yourself out of chakra in mid air three or four stories up. The walk home took a while but Ban managed it. When he got back home, he touched the bracelet to his door and the seal unlocked, allowing him access to his home.

He could feel the tiredness everywhere in his body. The operation had really taken a lot out of him today and Ban felt stupid and reckless for having overdone it as he had. Granted, it was one of the first attempts but still, he had panicked and used too much chakra to do an otherwise simple job. Ban checked on his latest additions to his little herb garden that took up most of his living space.

Feeling the exhaustion make itself known, Ban knew that an early bed would do wonders but at the same time he would wake up too early the next day. Unless he had some help. Opening one of his mother's notebooks, Ban started looking through the recipes for extracts, potions and tinctures for something that would help him sleep more restful. He found it near the beginning of the notes over several pages.

Ban read over the notes quickly and then more in-depth to find a combination of the various herbs and processes that he could apply together. One could only drink so much tea before problems arose. Ban selected a few different herbs and ways to use them and made a quick list. He had most of them growing in his house anyway. Chamomile Tea and a Lavender extract. He didn't have time or the strength for some of the more exotic treatments.

Tea first, as that required water boiling and that took time. Ban put the kettle on with enough water in it to make tea for a whole family and started plucking some chamomile from the various pots where it grew. It was one of those useful herbs you found everywhere almost all year round. As the water started to boil, Ban started to behead the little white leaved flowers one by one, simply pulling their heads off with his hands.

When the water finished boiling, he put the rough equivalent of six tablespoons worth of chamomile flowers into the bubbling water inside the kettle, burning his fingers on the metal lid on top of it. Now he just had to wait for five minutes for the water to absorb all the chamomile from the flowers and then he could set on the next task. Ban stirred the water from time to time and stretched his more aching muscles.

He checked his mother's notes on the subject to make sure he was doing it right, rereading the steps and amounts again. Five minutes later, Ban grabbed his tea sieve from the small kitchen and put it over his cup, holding it in place as he wrapped a small towel around the kettle handle and started pouring the tea through the sieve into the cup underneath it.

The flowers flowed out with the tea and got caught in the sieve while the rest of the tea flowed through it and filled the cup. A few seconds later, Ban was holding a full cup of hot chamomile tea and a sieve filled with white flowers. He put the kettle aside and poured the flowers back into it.

With the tea steaming in his cup, Ban started looking for some lavender, plucking it from one of the many hanging pots in his room. He gathered a small pile of them on the table, next to his steaming cup and kettle before checking his mother's notes to make sure everything was in order. He still needed the mortar and pestle from the kitchen. Once he had everything, Ban set himself down and set to work.

Taking a single sprig of lavender, Ban put it in the mortar and grabbed the smooth pestle in one hand, holding the mortar with the other. With light pressure he started to push the pestle on the lavender and twisted it a little. When he pulled the pestle away, the lavender had been crushed and a little of the juice was sticking to the pestle. That's what he needed.

Putting a few more sprigs of lavender in, Ban put the pestle down on it and started to pressure it, pushing down and twisting the club shaped pestle as he worked. He held the mortar at a small angle so everything would slide together on one side of it. Once he felt he had squeezed them dry, Ban put in more lavender, adding more as he went. A good ten minutes of Ban trying to squeeze the lavender out with the mortar and pestle later and he had a small amount of juice with floating bits and pieces of crushed lavender in it.

He put both his tools down and went to grab a small hand towel, folding it up in two and again in two so it made a long, thin strip of cloth that he could put over his throat when he was lying down. With the same sieve as before, Ban gently poured the lavender onto the towel, keeping the lavender in the sieve. When he was done, Ban poured the lavender and any remaining juice into the same tea kettle.

He put the lavender towel aside and took a sip from his tea which had cooled off while waiting. It was easily drinkable now. Ban picked up the kettle and moved it over next to his bed, pointing the pouring tip of it towards the head rest of his bed. In a few small gulps, Ban finished his tea and put the cup down and picked up his lavender towel, which he loosely draped over his throat, holding it in place by pushing his chin down.

Quickly stripping out of most of his clothes, Ban laid himself down in bed and waited for sleep to take effect. It didn't take long for Ban's eyes to fall shut.

Drawback: This mixture can only be applied three times before it must be created again.
Description: The user must take some of their blood, already naturally filled with their own natural chakra and mix it with ink. This in is simple mundane ink that is used in writing. The real power comes from the blood and the two handseals formed over the bottle of the mixture. The handseals must be formed over the mixture after is has been mixed together in a small bottle.
Limit: After learning this technique, the user will not have to learn it again to utilize any other Mekuraban Seal.

Ban woke up nice and early the next day, fresh and very energetic. He took a quick shower before cleaning up his room as he had left quite a few things as they were at the end of his last day. Today he didn't have anything planned in the morning but there was never a day without learning. Ban put away his kettle and threw away the new completely drained chamomile flowers and lavender he had mixed together yesterday.

Packing his pack and his sword, Ban put on his full outfit and headed out, sealing his door as usual with the Lock Seal. The bracelet on his left wrist showed a picture of a small shell, the mirror of the one on the door. Pulling his backpack properly on his back, Ban headed out towards the Kage tower where he could enter the library and read up on things. The trip there was uneventful on quick.

Ban walked in the tower and headed upstairs to the third floor where the library was. He had been here before when he was still in the academy but this was only the second time he was here on his own, without a teacher to guide him. The walk up to the third floor took a bit as he respectfully didn't use chakra to bounce his way up the walls there.

The library was quiet as usual and Ban walked in, randomly picking an aisle to learn something from. For the next hour, Ban wandered the aisles and looked through various books and scrolls for something interesting to read or learn. Most of the scrolls he found were either too high class for him or would take years of study or were only for certain clans or bloodlines. After a while, however, Ban found an interesting scroll, hidden behind some other books in the back of the library.

With his dusty scroll in hand, Ban set himself down at the table and rolled the scroll open carefully. While it was dusty, it wasn't as brittle or old as Ban expected it to be. He quickly read the introduction and learned it was a scroll about a 'Seal of Chains' jutsu. It described the history of the seal in as much that it was known and then went into how to use it.

Ban read the entire scroll first before he started on it. From the library, he took some paper and ink to write with and started to copy the instructions in the scroll word for word. He would be able to use them later or at home to continue practicing. But for now, since he had the ink at hand and nobody was looking at him, Ban figured he would try and make the ink needed for the jutsu. While the scroll talked about other jutsus that could use the same ink, there was nothing specific in the scroll about them.

Ban took the small ink bottle and set it down in front of him on the table. He made a quick peek back at the copy he had made off the scroll, then towards the original to make sure it was correct and then back to the copy to read it once more. "The user requires some of his own blood and mix it with ink before stirring it. Once this has been done, the user can complete the process by forming the snake and dragon hand seals over the ink container." It sounded easy enough.

Ban moved his hand towards one of the many pockets of his outfit and pricked his thumb twice on one of the many senbon hidden all over his person. He turned his thumb upside down so he wouldn't drip blood all over and held his thumb over the ink bottle. With a bit of pressure, the blood started dripping out of both wounds and into the ink bottle. Once Ban was satisfied with the amount the started sucking on his thumb to stop the bleeding. A little bit of healing chakra later and his thumb was back to full health.

Sticking his writing quill in the ink, Ban mixed the blood and the ink together as best he could before putting the quill aside. He molded some of his chakra together and pushed it towards his hands as he formed the two seals according to the scroll he had copied. First, the seal of the snake. Ban tangled all of his fingers together, keeping his left hand closer towards him so his left thumb was on the outside as he formed one giant fist with both hands together.

The Dragon followed right after with Ban pulling his double sized fist apart, keeping his middle, index and ring fingers touching near the tips and his thumbs moving up to touch in a square like figure. His little fingers stretched out and pointed right down at the ink bottle as their digits touched. With both seals done, Ban had completed the ink.

With interest, Ban peeked inside of the bottle to see if anything was different but the ink looked just as black as before, with some red splatters on the sides of the bottle that hadn't been mixed properly. He wanted to test it out but the library was very strict on its use of ninjutsu inside of it. For now, he just had to take the ink and his copied text and try the rest outside. Ban quickly grabbed all his stuff together and returned the scroll where he had found it. In his haste he 'accidentally' put the, now closed, ink well in his pack as well before running out.

Mekuraban Seal Drawing/Placement

Effect: The before the user can write the Mekuraban seal on a person or anything, they must first learn the special way how to draw the seals.
Special: Requires Ink and some sort of painting or marking tool just to learn. When used in battle this technique requires a mixture of blood and ink.
Drawback: None
Description: Before the user can use the Mekuraban seals, they must first master the correct way of drawing the seals. This technique is rather easy to learn, as the proper way of drawing a Mekuraban seal is only slightly different than regular kanji drawing. The user must draw the kanji so that the ink stays wet for the most amount of time possible, and runs so that the kanji drawing won’t lose its power.
Limit: After learning this technique, the user will not have to learn it again to utilize any other Mekuraban Seal.

Ban made his way out of the tower quickly and ran across the bridge that brought him back to the rest of the village. A few chakra boosted jumps later and Ban had found himself a quiet spot on top of somebody's roof. In a normal world, this place would have been in accessible by all, unless they had some sort of machine that allowed them to be elevated to great heights.

Ban sat himself down on the flat roof and put his backpack down next to him, quickly taking the copied scroll out of it. Ban read over it again, taking his time while trying to get the rest of his supplies out as well. The well with blood ink was fished out of his pack and put on the roof as Ban read the part on the placement of the seal again. Ban didn't quite understand why the placement of the seal had so much information on it since it was just a line made with the blood ink.

Ban took one of the empty papers and his blood ink, since he hadn't brought any other ink with him and dipped his finger in it, drawing a line on the piece of paper. Apparently, that was all. He just had to find a way to keep it wet for as long as possible, according to the scroll, but it didn't say anything about why he had to do it.

Using his fingers to paint the line did work easily but the ink didn't stay wet for very long this way. Ban assumed that using a brush of some description would make it much easier as the brush could hold more ink and apply more ink which meant it would stay wet longer. But for now, Ban simply practiced drawing lines on a piece of paper with his finger.

Ban focused on speed, trying to draw the line in one go, using as little time as possible to get it done. The more time he needed to place it the longer he was open against attacks from his opponents. He dipped his finger in the well and drew a line across the paper and dipped his finger again, aiming a second line below it. Dip, line, dip, line, dip, line. The exercise continued until the entire piece of paper was black with a few grey or white smudges in between. There was a little bit more ink left in the well, enough for some actual practice.

Mekuraban Seal Activation

Description: After the user applies the Seal, they can wait as long as they want before actually activating it, adding a strategic value to any seal of the Mekuraban. After applying the seal the user must learn the handseals and the amount of chakra needed to activate the seal that has been drawn.
Limit: After learning this technique, the user will not have to learn it again to utilize any other Mekuraban Seal.

Ban put the, now black, piece of paper aside and looked at the ink well. There was only so much he could learn from putting ink on a piece of paper. The rest of his copied scroll has information on how to use it and that would be the next step. But Ban didn't have anyone he could test it on. He hadn't really made friends during the year he had spent in the academy, with the age difference being so great, and he hadn't spend much time outside of working and exploring the wilds with other people.

He sighed and took the scroll with his clean hand and the ink well with his free hand. Ban quickly went over the scroll again to make sure he had it correct before putting it next to him, still readable, just in case. Ban dipped his ink stained fingers in the well and quickly lashed out with them over his own leg. No better test subject than yourself. Ban made a quick check of the seals and formed them.

Dragon first, then dog and finish it with boar while molding your chakra to activate the chakra in the ink. Nothing happened. Ban tried to move his leg and it did, easy enough. Apparently the seal hadn't worked. Maybe not enough chakra on the activation? Ban checked the necessary handseals again but he had done them right. Maybe it was the amount of time between the seals?

Ban tried to form the seals again, in quicker succession but his leg continued to move as he wanted it to. He even lay back and lifted it up straight to the sky. No problem. Ban sat back up and dipped his fingers back in the ink, making another swipe, this time over his other leg. Maybe the first one had been a bad mark? Ban formed the three seals in a row, molding his chakra through them to activate the seal. Again, nothing. The seal seemed to require more chakra on his end or the ink hadn't been done right.

With a quick exhale to calm himself, Ban dipped his fingers in his blood ink once again and pulled a line across his other arm before slamming his hands together, locking his middle, index and ring fingers of both hands with his thumbs standing up and touching each other and his little fingers straight down, their tips touching. He focused on his chakra as he switched his hands with ease after years of practice.

He formed his right hand into a fist and slapped his left hand on top of it to make the seal of the dog. Another shift as he molded his chakra into activating the mixture of blood, ink and chakra in the seal he had drawn on himself. He switched his hands, pointing down, all of his fingers forming a relative rectangle as he pushed his thumbs inward to touch upon them, the seal of the boar. With all his seals complete, Ban pushed his chakra out to active his jutsu.

Ban's arm suddenly flopped down next to him, breaking the seal of the boar. He tried to stop it from falling but it didn't listen and simply fell into his lap. Well, it looked like the seal was working properly. Ban turned and put his weight on his working arm to push himself up but neither of his legs wanted to move either and Ban last his balance, suddenly rolling over, his arm trapped underneath his body and his legs sprawling out behind him.

"Well shit." With nothing else to do but, these things never lasted forever, Ban decided to use his free hand to pull his backpack closer and fish out one of his breakfast bars. For a good minute and a half Ban could do nothing but chew breakfast, curse his own stupidity and his inability to move three of his four limbs.
