Dusk of the Old Day[Mission]

[Ranzu]

The sun was low in the sky, casting long shadows throughout the world. Most animals were heading back to their dens, birds to their nests, while some were starting to wake up. However there was one thing out of place in the twilight, a object high in the sky that was heading away from the lowering sun. This object was a Winged Mechanical Device which was owned and currently being flown by Zeki who was another thing very out of place in this time.

"The base should be located around here. All I need to scout out the exterior, find a insertion point, report back to the tower then take the mission to wipe this place out. Should be easy enough for me to slip on through, though. Only need a small window to do so, quite literally." Zeki tells himself, organizing his thoughts as he scanned the ground below him. He was only about a hundred meters in the air but figured that would be enough to let him spot the hide out before the lookouts spotted him, if they were even looking out for airborne threats anyways.

The Sadojin sent the Winged Mechanical Device in a controlled dive as he went to get a closer look at something, before pulling back up to his original height. Resuming his previous pattern, he piloted the Winged Mechanical Device in a criss-cross pattern of the land to search for the base.

Description: We have found various bases owned by the draconic group, the Shooting Stars, all across the lands. We need a group to scout out the exterior before shinobi can be sent inside to further scout out the interior. This is an effort to help further understand those who have attacked us.
Restrictions: Each base can only be scouted once. There is one per land. Ask at the tower what lands are still available. This mission must be taken and turned in before the "Scouting Party: Interior" mission can be taken for that land.
Reward: 4,000 (1,625 Ryo to Treasury)
GM Required: Yes (Tsuchikage)

[Draven]

Forest forest and more forest. Trees for miles, and a deep crack in the earth. It was 20 meters wide and looked like a scare upon the land. A rope bridge spanned the length for foot travel but nothing else. The crack itself had a length of some hundreds of meters.

Below there was no movement, just uninhabited forest. The mountain in the distance indicated a huge ridge line all around as if this was some large crater of sorts. Distance almost incalculable, with a lake in the center. At one point the crack in the earth meets with the lake and a waterfall pouring down into the bowls of the earth itself. But other than that nothing notable.

[Ranzu]

Trees were annoying. Very, very annoying. Zeki really wished he could get rid of them, especially at this very moment. Stopping sand and dust from spreading in the wind was bad enough, but now they were blocking his vision too! Truly trees were one of the major evils of this world and should have a holy crusade called against them!

The Sadojin shook his head to clear his thoughts before focusing on the scar through the earth. "If I was going to put a secret base somewhere, especially in the land of earth, it would be in a place like that. Mostly because of the irony but yeah not many people would think to look in there for a base." He says to himself once more, using his voice to direct his thoughts.

Quickly thinking of a plan of action he brings down the Winged Mechanical Device down a good ways from the gorge. Once he had hidden the device well enough for his satisfaction he turned towards the gorge and begin to sprint towards it. Yet even as he ran his fingers were set in motion of using a jutsu. Suddenly, as he closed on the gorge in the earth, the Sadojin seemingly melts into the shadows.

The fading light of the sun provided him enough cover via the shadows of the trees as the Sadojin went to the lip of the gorge and then over it, transforming small, fine grooves on the bottom of his feet that allowed him to stick to the wall.Looking around, Zeki begin to move in the direction of the lake all the while looking out for the hidden base.

Description: Affects anyone who sees the user. The user is able to perform this technique on themselves. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 minutes per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. As a living shadow, the user blends perfectly into any other shadow and vanish in darkness. User appears as an unattached shadow in areas of full light. User can move as normal as ever, on any surface, including walls and ceilings, as well as across the surfaces of liquids—even up the face of a waterfall (as long as they can actually move in such a way). Since this is an illusion the user cannot move through locations that they normally cannot.
Limit: Must know the Shadow Perception. Must know Shadow Form.


Suna Sensu: Karada Souran (Sand Style: Body Control)
Rank: "C", "B"
Skill: Ninjutsu
Effect: Allows the user to control and shape their body as they please.
Special: ---
Drawback: User can only make shapes and such up to their bodily size.
Description: User gains the ability to change their body and transform its shape as they see fit. User has a set amount of sand within their body they cannot have more then a set number, allowing them to have a human shape and form. They have mastered the shape and form so well, it allows them to make contours so that they not only appear to have skin and cloths, but it feels that very as well. They may also use it to regenerate lost limbs with either another sand source, of sand from the lost limb. This form at "C" Rank is always active, otherwise they would be nothing more then a pile of sand. They have been able to do this for so long however, the "C" Rank form of this technique only takes an "E"Rank amount of chakra per day. Thus, allowing them to keep this form forever. This technique also allows the user to perform some Sand techniques directly from their body. The "B"Rank Form of this technique simply allows them to take form of more advanced things. For example, a pile of sand, a giant arm, Drill, or whatever they can imagine, so long as the object does not go over their sand capacity.
Limit: Must be a Sadojin, Sand Release.

As Zeki went deeper into the gorge, it got darker... Seemingly if one wished to use a flying death machine in pitch black, then that is their death wish. One would assume going deeper would not be an option and simply stay at a comfortable light level.

So as Zeki traveled, he noticed nothing. All the way up to the watefall itself, there was a bunch of rocks and cliff face. But of course the scare upon the land runs deep. Once could hardly tell that there was even a river at the bottom of this place if not for the sound echo....

[Ranzu]

The search was not going well, not well at all. Zeki blamed his not-really-there-eyes as he clearly need to make some new ones. Still the Sadojin was not completely without ways to find things in the dark and he quickly set about using the first tactic. He ran a hand across a section of rock while willing a few grains of sand to embed themselves into the rock face. Then he willed the sand to start grinding against the rock at a extremely fast rate, causing a meter long chunk of rock to almost instantly turn into sand.

Zeki took control of this new sand by breaking it up into a loose cloud. He might not be able to see anything in the darkness as of now but his sand could act as a crude method of touch by simply bumping against the rock walls. Anything too odd to be in a rocky gorge like this would be easily felt out, like his sand moving across the smooth section of a door or suddenly flying through a gap in the rock that was a window.

The Sadojin split the cloud of sand into two before sending them to move against the two sides of the gorge. It was not a full proof method, but it would allow him to detect any doors or windows or the like in the canyon even if their were hidden by genjutsu or more mundane means. All his sand needed was a small crack to slip through and alert him.

It seemed like there was a network of caves deeper down in the gorge itself. Some of the structure of the cave mite seem made made, but then again one would need some sort of knowledge or skill to understand this. Of course there was no other discoveries besides this.

Deeper down, into the darkness... say 30 meters down and to the north...

Clinging to the side of the cavern, Zeki made his way toward the natural cave system with decent speed. However he always kept his sand cloud in front of him to give him warning of what was ahead.

"I really, really need some better gear for these types of missions. Going in blind is not a very good idea. Heh, blind, a pun. Need to write that one down." Zeki thinks to himself as he makes his way towards the cave system, heading ever deeper into the earth.

Once at the entrance to the caves he sends his cloud of sand ahead of him before moving in the caves. The last thing he wanted to do was run into traps or the like, if the base was even down here.

It seemed this cave was deep. It seemed like it had no end. Another 30 meters until it started to turn and twist as if it went from man made to perhaps jutsu made. Earth Style users perhaps, but one would need knowledge of both Geology and Chakra Lore. In any event it seemed there was a drop off, a vary deep drop off. AS if it would spill into the bowls of the earth itself. But 10 meters out there was another cave, after this cliff. Yet it was still pitch black...

Hopefully the change in the tunnel's structure meant Zeki was getting closer to the base. At least that was what he hoped as he approached the edge of the cliff, feeling the drop with a foot. Summoning part of his sand cloud to stop in front of him as he wove his fingers in a simple jutsu, he condensed a portion of the cloud into a smaller but very compact cloud of sand. Stepping on the nimbus, Zeki willed the compact cloud forward towards the new cave entrance. Once there the Sadojin would step onto the entrance's floor before dispersing the compact cloud of sand into a bigger cloud and sending it forward once more. He had to "see" in this darkness after all, even if it was a poor imitation.

Effect: The user takes the knowledge of Suberi Suna Nami and is capable of creating a cloud made out of compacted sand. This technique is somewhat simple as the user creates a cloud, and using the knowledge of the wind release the user can push the Sand Cloud in all directions. The Cloud of sand is strong enough to keep the user placed on top of the cloud and stand within mid air on top of a cloud. This technique is used for escaping or traveling purposes.

Description: When the user performs the small amount of handseals the user quickly forms a massive cloud of sand that is in the size of his own choosing. Usually done to fit for that of the user. The user is capable of controlling the very sand up down and all around in every direction allowing the user to float in the air and move high into the air in an elevated manner. When the user learns this technique the user is capable of moving in the same amount of movements per round as himself in which designates as to how fast this Sand Cloud can become.
Limit: must know Suberi Suna Nami (Sliding Sand).

The Sandojin made it safely across. One should be proud to be able to clear a 10 meter gap, some shinobi cannot do this without the use of act of tree climbing. But in the end there was a light further down into the tunnel. It seemed fire like in it's ability to dance around... The sand would recognize smaller caves and an almost labyrinth of tunnels. Some ended some did not. The recognition of rooms were not hard to understand, yet weather it was man made or jutsu made would still be a mystery...

[Ranzu]

Zeki moves towards the lite area as quietly as he could as to not alert anyone up ahead to his presence via sound. His earlier jutsu was still active and so he looked like a disembodied shadow on the floor to anyone that viewed him, which meant that he was covered quite well in the darkness of the cave system. He sand was still spreading throughout the nearby area though Zeki does will it to be a bit thinner and spread out as to help keep it unnoticed.

[Draven]

Zeki had found the base. It was obvious, Iwagakure flag with some red shit painted on it to mark their distrought. It seemed to be well guarded. Big stone door as expected from Iwa citizens, closed tight, with a few flags and torches. Though it didn't seem well guarded. What Zeki could see past the door as some of the sand could get thought. He could also see many figures behind the door. Say 25 guards at the post maybe, or stalagmites?

[Ranzu]

"I have found the rebel base, tower. Big stone door, some desecrated Iwa flags, a few guards, the usual signs. They were located in a network of tunnels that I found inside a small canyon through the country side. May or may not have earth style jutsu users that helped carved it out. Intuition tells me they do as the place was riddle with false tunnels, dead ends, and even a spot where the floor fell into a drop off with the correct tunnel continuing on the other side of the drop. But no confirmed earth style users. Permission to proceed to stage two of infiltration? Oh and could this be the sorta infiltration that leaves no survivors? Filthy rebel scum..." The Iwagakure ninja mentally projects back to the village tower.

The Sadojin shuffles around to get a better look at the door and guards as he awaits the response. He didn't approach the gate just yet in case he did not recieve the go ahead for the second mission. Nor did he prepare any offensive jutsus either for the tower might want him to go in silently.

A message would be delayed for a minute before...

Message back from the tower: "You are go for insertion, keep a low profile this is a recon mission. Do not act without confirmation. Report findings upon return to the tower" Replied the Anbu Captain as he was given word of the situation from the assistant.

Thus an obsticle in the way. The door and the figures behind it. There was still even a hallway with other such formations leading down it. A good 30 meters beyond the door, before there was the first so to say fork in the road...

[Ranzu]

Zeki grumbles at his instructions of not going in hot. There were rebel scum right in front of him for crying out loud! People who rejected the ways of the kage, who didn't believe in Godric! However orders were orders and they came from the kage sort of albeit indirectly.

His fingers weave themselves in the familiar patterns of a jutsu before Zeki's very body slowly sinks a meter into the ground, dispelling his earlier shadow genjutsu. He knew the apparent direction of the wall and starts to "swim" through the earth towards it while sending his sand cloud through the windows by only sending a few grains at a time so they were almost invisible to the naked eye.

Once he had passed a couple of meters past the gate, or at least where he thought the gate was, he used another jutsu underground while turning a very thin line of rock between him and the surface into sand. The jutsu was the Third Eye jutsu which allowed the Sadojin to make a floating brown eye near the ceiling of the tunnels and connect it to himself, effectively allowing him to see what is happening in the tunnels nearby.

The Sandojin should give himself more credit. That was a wall crafted from the strongest metal. Heavy strong, and nearly indestructible. The soft touch was the lethal one this time. Thus entrance was...a breeze...

There was a slight vacum that helped this process along. Indeed there were Guards, from the look of the eye, but it seemed there was only 2. The rest were rock formations. Torches lined the walls so it was easy to see. The Guards seemed lumpy and small, and green....

Like mutated children, and the halls kept going. Down at the fork in the road there were 2 paths, one to the left and one to the right. One had a plethora of chambers and the other seemed to go on endlessly....

[Ranzu]

Zeki examines the strange forms of the guards but shrugs it off as some sort of jutsu mentally. He really hoped at least. Turning his attention to the pathway the Sadojin makes a mental map to the path with the chambers before dismissing the eye and reorganizing his and along the ceiling of the tunnel.

Once his sand was in order the Sadojin begins to swim towards the branch that held all of the chambers, making his way there slowly but surely. Once he was in the middle of the path, or at least where his mental map was telling him the middle, he preformed the eye jutsu once again to examine his surroundings. Getting his bearings he would dismiss the eye before swimming to a chamber, re-summoning his eye and examining the room, dismissing the eye to return to the center hallway before repeating the whole thing. This way he would examine all the rooms and their contents.

After examining all the rooms, and not stopped or discovered, the Sadojin would make his way to the split in the hallway, summoning the eye one more time to get a good look down it before preparing himself to venture forth in it.

It was recognizable. Like a military camp... Spending some time within the ranks one could understand what barracks look like, or a galley, or an armory or other such things tied to a military operation. Except it was much less orginized, messy, stinky, and trash like. This orginization was of the chaotic type...except one chamber. Neat, tidy, torture devices...

It seemed all were asleep, so getting a good pitcure was tough. The rooms were darkened enough to where getting this feel feel with sand was the only way to tell really what was here. Unless the eye got close to objects, it could not tell. The sound of snoring resonated...

In the other direction, there was a long deep tunnel going on for miles. It was dark and could not see. The Tunnel itself seemed wide, 10 meters wide. As if a division of soldiers could come through. With another 20 meters tall it once could only imagine the construction that needed to take place here... The Darkness started 50 meters out, and the sand would only reveal further another 200 if the sand could detect that far, with no signs of stopping...

[Ranzu]

Zeki took a deep breath, figuretly as he was both underground and had no lungs, before starting to "swim down the tunnel". He would stop every fifty feet or so and use the eye to make sure he was not missing anything while his sand cloud still felt out everything in a radius of him. He had his orders and they were to discover every secret this base had, even if it meant going into the abysss...
