With the same hand that had previously been ruffling Kinzoku, Claire turned and selected from the proffered pack the cigarette that stuck out the farthest for ease of obtainment, sliding it out and moving to hold it between her lips.

Her eyes shifting from their normal oceanic tones to a crimson hue, she observed the way Tetsu used his breathing to make lighting the stick of tobacco easier, and how to circulate the smoke after sucking it in without choking on it. When she was sure she had the processes memorized, she leaned in and touched the tip of her cigarette to the tip of his, using its heat to light her own.

After exhaling as though she'd been doing so for years, she would respond to the Nara's curiosity simply, "I don't." She couldn't add much to that, because she wasn't sure what prompted this herself. Maybe it was just a day for new things, as she turned her eyes on the dancers within and began memorizing their steps.

"Don't worry about it." That could have been a response to either of the boys really. Maybe both. "Relax, cut loose. It's only as awkward as you make it. Probably. Just don't do anything to make the Village look bad and we'll be fine. Probably."

Kinzoku was in awe. Being the first time Kinzoku saw the fabled SHARINGAN, and nonetheless, from Claire. He didn't know she had Uchiha blood in her. This would definitely be beneficial to the team in the long run. Suddenly, Kinzoku would feel something warm inside him. It seemed as if his team was more advanced than he thought, and this made him want to excel even more. Not only did he want to catch up with his team, but he wanted to surpass them and be the rock they could lean on.

"Hmph... That reminds me... when are we going to have a training session? I think we could all take Gosei-sama in a spar."

Kinzoku then laughed. He knew they were no where near that caliber, but it was good to aim high. Not only that, but sparring such a formidable opponent would help them with their teamwork while giving them some much needed training.

Tetsu was impressed with Claire’s ability to copy his breathing method; which of course didn’t surprise him with her lineage. She caught on quickly. Kinzoku on the other hand was acting like a pain, as was the norm, though Tetsu always appreciated the kid’s gumption. “Ha Lord Fifth? Even together that seems like too much effort, and honestly I don’t think I could care enough to fight a man who is…like that guy.” Tetsu said begrudgingly as he played it off with a chuckle. It was very well known that Gosei and he didn’t get along. For one reason or another Tetsu had always been on the Hokage’s bad side. Tetsu couldn’t help but shiver at the thought of the Hokage, the sneaky little bastard that he was. Claire loved the man, but Tetsu just couldn’t bring himself to hold such affections for a man who was as self-interested as Gosei.

Puffing some smoke, Tetsu decided that he needed a moment to recover as he noticed people starting to dance, the classical tune was that of a composer that he could have sworn had died only but recently. Damn knowing all these random facts, Tetsu thought to himself as he looked over at Claire, her ability to mimic not only movements but mannerisms was alas quite intriguing. Tetsu was pretty good at deduction, and consequently he figured that Claire was probably just as good of a dancer by watching the experienced members dancing there in the parlor. Tetsu would even go to bet that she would have picked up their dancing quirks, like one of the girls dancing tapped her toe on every three count. Tetsu figured with that much knowledge, and no knowledge in dancing himself, Claire could lead the way.

“Hey Metal Gear Solid, I you don’t mind if I borrow Claire for a few minutes do you?” Tetsu asked rhetorically, lightly knocking on Kinzoku’s head as he knew that the kid was probably more into fighting things and missions than lame parties like these. Sliding over next to Claire, bumping his shoulder against hers as he would lean over taking his cigarette out of his mouth and holding it in his left hand while cupping his right around her ear. “Want to give dancing a try? I think you would be pretty good at it,” Tetsu asked quietly winking at Kinzoku as he continued his statement. Bringing his lips really close to Claire’s ear, Tetsu would whisper almost inaudibly, “You can be the man if you want…” his joking tone would linger for a moment in her ear before Tetsu attempted to snatch her wrist, pulling her off towards the dance floor dropping his cigarette on the floor stomping it out, because Tetsu didn’t give any fucks for the décor of this fancy ass place.

"Sounds like someone is scared..."

Kinzoku would push the matter as much as he could until everyone agreed, but for now, it seemed the seed had already been planted. Now just to water it a bit. Speaking low enough for only Testu to hear, Kinzoku would do just that.

"But it's ok. I just thought you'd want to prove you were the strongest man in Claire's life."

From what he saw, Tetsu wasn't the motivated type and the only way he seemed to get motivated was when Claire was involved. Therefore, Kinzoku would try to capitalize off of it. If they were able to survive the wrath of the hokage, then surely they could overcome any obstacle placed in their way, including the Chunnin Exams. Then Kinzoku would answer Tetsu, as if to leave the previous thought for Tetsu to juggle in his head before he had a chance to reply.

"Sure. But don't run off now. I would hate to have to track you down."

The second rebuttal was more of a friendly jest in response to the metal joke than it was a threat. Also, dancing seemed out of Tetsu's element and Kinzoku needed a laugh.

Claire sucked in a deep, hissing breath and held it for a moment, trying to keep her composure. Dancing. She'd never danced before, not really. And while she had the distinct advantage now of being able to pick up on skills simply by watching, putting them into practice still made her nervous. What if the copy wasn't perfect? What if she copied the wrong steps?

She relaxed a bit with Kinzoku's "brilliant" idea, though, so far as chuckling good-naturedly. "Look, over the last four years I've lived with the Captain, I've fought him three times. All three times were valuable learning experiences, and helped unleash potential I never knew I had, most recently leading to these red eyes. All three times I was completely outmaneuvered and overpowered. We should do it, and we should do our best to win, but we should also come to terms with the fact that we probably won't. And even before then, I think we first need to work on our teamwork and synchronization. But that's something for another time," she explained, putting out her smokestick in a structure that looked like it could pass for an ashtray but probably wasn't.

She finished both of her drinks in a single swallow each, shaking her head briskly as it grew increasingly foggy. "In the meantime, yeah what the hell. Let's do the whole dancing thing. How bad could it be?"

Allowing Tetsu to take point again, he pulled her by the wrist back inside, though perhaps a little too firmly considering she had to quicken her pace not to be physically dragged. That wouldn't end well at all in these heels. "Don't have too much fun without us Kinz," she would call out behind herself. She was nervous, but also kind of...excited?

As was probably expected of her considering her...talent, the Knight of Light took the lead in the steps, doing her best to communicate to her suddenly highly motivated partner how he should move. They weren't at it long however before a somewhat faster melody started up, one that she hadn't seen the steps for. Scarlet eyes shifted back to their normal blue and green chromatic, and she backed down to a more submissive form, mostly just trying not to look like an idiot in front of her...Tetsu. Hopefully he would be able to pick up the slack.

Tetsu couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous as suddenly he found himself taking Claire out to the dance floor. Wishing to keep his cool persona up as he winked at Kinzoku as they made their way towards the dancing couples, whom were much more versed in dancing that Tetsu was; however he remembered watching them, as his eidetic memory could recall each step as if he had just seen it. He was a quick learner after all. Tetsu figured he would have to learn on the move, and with the help of Claire’s Sharingan, how could they fail. Tetsu was about to let himself be led by Claire when suddenly he felt her body language slack a bit, and the tone of the music suddenly quickened. Damn it to hell, he was going to look like an idiot was his first thought as he had only danced maybe twice in his life, and only one of those times he was sober. Suddenly the music everyone began to clap around the couples as the music began to pick up. It was a quick step, something Tetsu could remember the basic steps too, gladly it wasn’t something as saucy as a tango, but it was likely that the same one twostep twirl would do just fine as long as he kept the tempo constant, Tetsu thought to himself as he clacked his heel on the ground a bit.

“Trust me a bit…” He said as the tempo quickly transitioned into the rifting guitar, which meant he would need to implement some side to side motions, taking his hand around her waist, and slightly apply pressure in the direction that they were going to be moving. It was going to be much like a swinging hip motion rather than a side step, but alas it was all in the same a flourish as he would direct Claire, moving his feet, giving her room to place her feet adjacent to his without stepping on his, the movement was fluid and overall he did his best to remain calm as he directed the two step twirl with the flourish as Tetsu was working there on the spot without knowing much about dancing, Claire was quite luck that he was a clever fellow. Figuring that she could keep up with him, Tetsu finally got to the twirling portion of the simplistic routine as he took a step back holding onto Claire’s right hand with his left, using his wrist and fingers to indicate that he was twirling her so that she could respond on her own without him telling her directly. She was his partner after all, so he trusted that she would understand him.

He repeated the simple pattern a few times, not speaking for a majority of the time as he focused on the routine at first until the song began to come towards its conclusion and hit the rhythmic portion of the dance where Tetsu figured he could mix it up a bit. Opening his palm so that Claire and himself were palm to palm, he would direct her as best as possible without too many words. “Watch this,” He said with a wink as he would push himself back a bit, having them walk in a circle promenade before stepping in and doing it again, but this time locking himself arm in arm with Claire before stepping out of the circular motion and moving behind Claire, placing his right hand on her hip and placing his left hand under hers, requiring minimal movement on her behalf, but allowing for an interesting twist to their spin as he would again do the two step move, but this time with the twirl he would feed Claire into his body instead of away from him, dipping while crossing her arms in front of her gently, letting the improvised dance move act as the end as someone yelled something in some language he didn’t understand before the music slowly faded, Tetsu’s left hand supporting Claire’s back as he helped her back up to an upright stance. “Wow you’re pretty good at this,” Tetsu would state trying to play off his role in the dancing as he noticed Claire’s eyes were no longer the scarlet red sharingan, but were now the cool water like green that he recognized as her natural eye color. “Claire…” He said feeling touched by her faith in his abilities, not quite sure what to say as he had thought she would direct her movements on her own, not letting him be the lead, he felt touched even if the dancing was sub par.

[Kinzoku]

While the two ran off to the dance floor, Kinzoku would ponder what Claire had said. Gosei was the Hokage for a reason, but no one was invincible, no matter how much it seemed like it. But one thing Kinzoku did agree with Claire about was the fact that their team needed more training together and teamwork. As his teammates danced away, Kinzoku would "zone out" and think of ways to utilize their team's capabilities together.

"Come to think of it... Tetsu and myself have yet to actually fight or even train together. We don't even know the extent of each other's abilities.."

This certainly proposed a problem, but not an impossible one. Kinzoku would just have to find opportunities for the team to train together before they challenged Gosei.

It was terrifying, and exhilarating. She had no idea what was happening anymore but she kind of loved it. Everything was a blur as it entered and left her field of vision too quickly to recognize before she simply stopped caring and allowed her mind to filter it out. There was only Tetsu, the music, and her desperately trying to keep up. When had he learned to do this? For someone who claimed to be so poor at it he was certainly performing admirably.

Her heart was racing from the strain of unconsciously keeping her breathing to the absolute minimum required for consciousness. The Light swelled from its pool of primal chakra at the base of her spine, pulsing in time with a tingling sensation in her abdomen, just above her pelvis. When he dipped her low toward the end, her head was swimming with the effects of adrenaline and alcohol, and maybe a little bit of oxygen starvation. She could see that they were the center of everyone's attention though. When had that happened? He then snapped her back upright as the music faded away, and while his intent might have been one thing, she had other ideas. Using the momentum he gave her, she pressed into him again rather than standing apart. Pure instinct having long since taken over for rational thought, she kissed him fully on the mouth.

She backed away as soon as she realized what she was doing, attempting to smooth out the ruffles of her dress in embarrassment. "I'm sorry, that was a er...that was a spur of the moment thing. I probably shouldn't have done that. My bad. I'm going to go see if maybe the kid wants to go a round. Yeah."

As she hustled off, she grabbed up another drink and downed it in one go, shaking her head to try and clear her thoughts. Returning to the balcony, she addressed Kinzoku quickly. "You want a turn out there Iron Man? It's not so bad"

Though Kinzoku was a fast learner and he was sure it wouldn't take him long to learn rhythmic steps, dancing wasn't really something Kinzoku did on his spare time. He grinned and rubbed the back of his head as he responded to Claire.

Description: Mix the myrrh, the urea, and the tar in a congelation method. This takes 10 minutes to make. This will make 1 standard-shot of "Tanglefoot Bag". A tanglefoot bag is a small sack filled with tar, resin, and other sticky substances. When you throw a tanglefoot bag at a creature, the bag comes apart and goo bursts out, entangling the target and then becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air. If they are hit completely they will be glued to the floor, unable to move. Even if they are not hit completely they will lose half of their movements to what was hit. These pouches release resin in a 2-meter diameter. A flying creature is not stuck to the floor, but if they are hit along the wing they will fall to the ground unable to fly. A tanglefoot bag does not function underwater, but it does make a platform 2-meter diameter A creature glued to the floor can be set free if 15 Armour Points of damage is done to the goo with a slashing weapon. Once free, the creature can move at half their movements, or full movements if the attachment was partial. Taken back by Claire's response, Kinzoku decided to just let it go. In Kinzoku's mind, they were all teammates, therefore they were all each other's keepers. Maybe Tetsu stepped on her foot or wrinkled her dress. Either way, that conversation was over now, as it seemed too sensitive a subject. On to a subject more comfortable.

"Well okay... anyway... Claire, tell me about yourself. I feel like besides our mission, and the mishap with Gosei, we haven't really had a chance to get to know each other. You, Tetsu and myself are on a team but I barely know anything about you guys, whether it be background, fighting style, food preference or anything for that matter."

Kinzoku figured since this was a private function and everyone was enjoying themselves, they would rather converse about each other than his previous thoughts about training.

Tetsu couldn't help but feel a little bit impressed with his dancing as he was able to do the moves from memory as if he had been the one doing them. Sadly all of his moves were simply copied from the other people he had watched earlier that night, using them in different orders to mix them up, a simple yet impressive trick. As he went for the dip, Tetsu couldn't help but smile and look down at his partner, for but a moment, it felt like time had stopped. Tetsu's senses absorbed that moment, his extremely observant nature taking in Claire for but a moment until suddenly everything moved quickly enough to smack him in the face as he pulled her back up, feeling her sudden closeness to him. 

This was very unlike the Sakurai that he knew, she would have never been so close to such a vile person like himself, even though they were partners, Tetsu couldn't help but feel unworthy. he was about to create some distance, but Claire gave him not even a moment to breath before suddenly their lips were touching. He didn't know what to think in that moment, feeling his partner, the person he always wanted to be with kissing him out of the blue like she was. His heart was pounding, but his facial expression could only read confusion. The logical Tetsu, the pragmatic asshole who always did what made most sense was now flabbergasted at what to do. He paused for a moment in his head, taking the time to think out all the things he could do or say in that situation to make what was happening make sense, but alas there was nothing he could do. For once in his life, Tetsu didn't have a strategy other than pulling himself into the maelstrom of emotions that he was feeling, returning Claire's kiss with gentle sentiment. As she pulled away, obviously embarrassed, and not the only one feeling that way, Tetsu could only think to himself her lips were soft.

Standing there for a moment, watching as Claire made her retreat back to Kinzoku, Tetsu felt the urge to go after her, but what good would that do. "Yeah...Um..." he said trying to process what to say as Claire made her way back to the balcony, leaving Tetsu there with a crowd of people looking upon them, wondering why things had gotten so intimate all of a sudden. "what happened?" Tetsu asked himself as he drug himself over to the nearest wall, leaning against it as he instincivly reached into his pocket, flicking his lighter open and closed again by habit. He did that when he was thinking, but as it stood right now, he couldn't think of anything other than Claire Sakurai. He was confused to be sure, and he couldn't let Kinzoku know what happened, so he figured he would just have to play it cool. Wiping his lips, thinking of the tingling sensation for only a moment before making sure he didn't have any lingering lip gloss or Lip stick if there had been any, Tetsu would casually snag a bag of chips from the confections table and popped it open as he walked back outside. "Yo, i thought it was your turn Full Metal," Tetsu chuckled at he walked outside chopping down on a chip before offering the bag to Kinz and Claire if they wanted any. He noticed Claire making casual eye contact only at first, trying to remain cool in front of Kinzoku, but alas Tetsu was thankful for the dark evening hiding his subtle blush.

Story time then was it? Fair enough, she didn't have anything to hide. This was better than the alternative besides. Turning around, she leaned backward against the rail, crossing her arms and speaking matter-of-factly.

"We'll start with background. I'm from a little village on the coast called Boatham. We mostly make our living on fishing, and selling to Konohagakure, Tanzaku-Gai, Otafuku-Gai, and Mo. My parents died by the time I was twelve. Separately, natural causes. Not a big deal. I knew how to take care of myself.

"Mother was the last member of a forgotten clan, the Sakurai. She taught me from the moment I could walk how to live up to their legacy as hunters and trackers. They also created the lightning blossoms ninjutsu I use. I always hoped I would manifest their bloodlimit power, the Sankakugan eye, even though she never had. Apparently not, given these red eyes of mine.

"Father was a simple fisherman, but in retrospect he did bear the hallmarks of an Uchiha. Dark hair, dark eyes, good with fires. Didn't talk much, but he adored Mother. Couldn't live without her. Literally.

"Anyway, after they passed I moved to Konohagakure and entered the Academy. I'd wanted to for a while, but couldn't just leave my family you know? Graduated at thirteen, found myself unexpectedly homeless. Didn't last long. I had already been assigned to the Captain, so he graciously let me move in with him. That was...probably around four years ago now. He's taught me most of what I know, and we've even gone on a handful of missions, but mostly I've just been studying and training. Physically, I'm probably on the level of a lower end Jonin now.

"That's my story. How about you guys?"
