The process was getting so like second nature to him, he was literally finishing almost as soon as he started. Ryutatsu had made great strides as a crafter of swords. But he still stuck to his favored sets whenever he had a chance. Only special orders got him out of that mind set it seemed. Ryutatsu put his efforts fully into his craft and his techniques.

As a quick favor for someone who had helped him in his trials of hunting and trained with him. Ryutatsu crafted a short version of a katana for Hamura and added in a cryo enhancement. The crafting of such a small weapon with his chakra and lava forge made the process simple. It only took but a few hours to craft a perfection into such a blade. Then he used a special whetstone to make sure it never lost it's edge.

Description: The dragon tree is a rare and ancient tree that is found in only a few places across the world. Dragon trees are squat trees, standing only around 12 to 15 feet in height. Their branches grow upward from the very top of the trunk and extend like fingers pointing to the sky. Long, sword-like leaves grow in clusters from the ends of the branches. The bark of the dragon tree resembles dragon scales; they are diamond shaped, grow away from the tree, and have long needle-sharp thorns on their tips. Once each year, at the beginning of Low Summer, a dragon tree will shed its outer layer of bark, the scales falling to the ground. Anyone climbing a dragon tree takes 8 Armour Points of piercing damage each round they are on the tree from the sharp bark. The fruits of mature dragon trees grow in a cluster beneath at the point where the leaves grow from the branches. The fruit begins as large, yellow-gold blossoms in late Low Summer. By the middle of High Summer the blossoms have turned into tear-shaped fruit a pale green in color that slowly ripens into a deep, red-colored fruit the size of a watermelon by late High Summer. A single tree will typically develop 4d4+4 fruit each season. The fruit of the dragon tree is called blood fruit. To non-dragons it is nothing more than a food source. If made into Alcohol it provides a +2 to the Strength of the Alcohol. Ryutatsu's next project he planned on doing twice over once for the request and another for the money. The set up for his smithy was a bit different this time. Ryutatsu had to set up both for wood working as well as metal working. The metal piece would be the easiest in the forge but the wood required him to get serious as a crafter. Ryutatsu laid out all he needed and then double checked himself.

Ryutatsu labored heavily over his wood working tools. For each piece had to be precisely shaved and fitted into slots. Ryutatsu also made sure to leave room for the various gadgets that work with crossbows. He made the crossbow fairly modular for greater tactical flexibility. Each piece had to be made with such precision he was measuring in microns.

Ryutatsu was putting exquisite detail into the working of this wooden crossbow. The length of the crossbow combined with the short sword sized bayonet made it almost as long as a short spear. Ryutatsu knew this was his most expensive working and made sure to put in the effort that was required. Day and night he worked hard laboring this special wood to make sure it's beauty and craftsmanship showed.

Ryutatsu finished his work by making sure the bayonet and crossbow fitted together perfectly. With the tension on the bow and the strength, he wove into it the abilities of his work showed through. Ryutatsu made this one of his masterpieces as he made the strongest Rifle crossbow he could. Ryutatsu made with such care that when he was finished he would warp it in oiled cloth. Ryutatsu spared no effort in his workmanship.

Now Ryutatsu was onto the second of the twin crossbows. This one was for him to sell. Before he truly started though he cleaned up his work space from the dust and debris of the first. Then Ryutatsu continued his hard work on making a second of the first. With spending so much time looking at detail a head ache was forming but still he labored. The breaks he took was just to rub his eyes and to refresh himself.

Ryutatsu made all the same fine adjustments to make everything fit like he did to the first. But nothing was massed produced by him. Each work, like the one he was doing, was unique by the fact no two cuts were ever quite the same. This piece had a slightly different scaling pattern than the first. This made it easy to identify which was which. His labors were proving fruitful in this pursuit of crafting perfection.

Ryutatsu was finished with the crossbow but now it was to make the bayonet a piece worthy of a sale. Ryutatsu worked on it like he did anything else with drive and passion. The bark of the dragon tree resembles dragon scales; they are diamond shaped, grow away from the tree, and have long needle-sharp thorns on their tips. Once each year, at the beginning of Low Summer, a dragon tree will shed its outer layer of bark, the scales falling to the ground. The fruits of mature dragon trees grow in a cluster beneath at the point where the leaves grow from the branches. The fruit begins as large, yellow-gold blossoms in late Low Summer. By the middle of High Summer the blossoms have turned into tear-shaped fruit a pale green in color that slowly ripens into a deep, red-colored fruit the size of a watermelon by late High Summer. A single tree will typically develop 4d4+4 fruit each season. The fruit of the dragon tree is called blood fruit. To non-dragons it is nothing more than a food source. Ryutatsu decided he needed still more funds for his library that he was building. To accomplish this he needed to work hard on his most expensive wares. He got to work on his craft by cutting each piece of wood and setting the steel to idle over the forge while he worked. For the bayonet was part of the rifle even though it was a separate weapon in some cases.

Ryutatsu worked not quickly or slowly but diligently with his crossbow line of weapons. These were not the made to order items like the first one of the set was. No this was just a little bit of high quality work to earn a few ryo. What Ryutatsu wasn't quite realizing was he could earn more if he learned to barter. Ryutatsu gave everything the same attention he gave the first though.

Ryutatsu with bit of exhaustion setting in from constantly working continued to make more of these expensive weapons. The purpose was for more funding to work with. With Shiki gone as a benefactor he had to make his own money. But that was fine he was a hardy kid with skill. With a mighty effort he began that next crossbow and bayonet in making sure the measurements are correct.
