Description: Bonewood is a thin tree, with trunk diameters of only 12 to 18 inches, and stands about 50 to 100 feet tall. The tree has a pale white bark and red leaves. Bonewood grows in areas where there are many buried corpses in the ground and can be commonly found in large graveyards, the sites of ancient battles, and mass graves. The bonewood tree is prized for the many items that can be made from the tree. The bonewood tree provides not only wood, but also a bright red sap and spongy, yellowcolored heartwood at the center of the tree often simply referred to as marrow. The many uses of bonewood often bring people into conflict as one group wants to tend the trees and harvest the sap, while another group wants to cut the trees down to get the wood and marrow. Bonewood has many unique properties, a result of its unique ecology. The wood is highly flexible, lightweight, and strong making it an ideal wood for weapons and armor. In addition, the wood has a unique ability to repair damage done to it, just as normal bone heals breaks (Heals 5 Armour Points per Round). The marrow is soft and spongy and is edible, though rather bland. Those that eat of the bonewood marrow slowly transform such that their skin becomes hardened like the bark of a tree. Finally, the red sap can be distilled into several alchemical brews. Hardness: 10; Armour Points/Inch: 30; Armour Class: -2. Bonewood produces 960,000 Ryo worth of material cost for items. Bonewood items cost normal price.
Availability: Year Round; Region: Special; Identification: Easy; Cultivation: Average
Limit: Must know Botany for Special Regions. 3% chance in finding.
Cost: 200,000 Ryo Per Tree; 960,000 Ryo per Tree (Material)

The time had come, Yoko was setting out on her new adventure in search of Bonewood. Of course, one might think of setting of outside the village in search of this rare wood, as surely everything inside the village walls had been harvested by greedy corporations? Well maybe that was the case, but from Yoko’s perspective, it was certainly easier to carry a tree a few miles than thousands or hundreds of miles. Thus, if she could find the tree within the village’s graveyards then it saved her a lot of trouble.
