A ghoulish problem

Objective: Kill the Ghoul
Description: A recent sighting in a local graveyard has spooked the locals. They called in shinobi help to get rid of the problem. Get rid of the problem and quick, before it starts to spread.

Zeki was in his winged mechanical device about twenty meters in the air. He was circling what looked like a rustic village, though what few villagers he could see were hiding in their houses. The cause of it, from what meager resistance the villagers put up like walls of spikes and pit falls, pointed toward the local graveyard. Angling his flying device toward that location Zeki would use his goggles to search for any signs of activity amongst the still graves.

He was dressed in his usual fashion of tan hoody and slacks, wearing a gourd on his side filled with sand that was actually part of his body, and had his goggles on tight. His goggles came equipped with zooming vision, x-ray vision, camera vision, night vision, condition viewing vision, thermal vision, substance locator vision, and anti-flash lens. He was flying in his Winged Mechanical Device at a decent speed.

Whirling back around toward the village Zeki would think about his options about what to do. A ghoul wouldn't be much a threat to him by itself, but it might be in a pack or have a ghast around. Plus undead tend to group together, so there might be a even more advanced form of undead around that could actually be a threat to him. So he just floated around the village for a bit while in deep thought.

Carrying on in the throes of the encroaching dark Juniper skittered low on all fours, eyes dancing, looking from the spike walls to the clusters of fire torches they seemed hellbent on repelling someone. Or something. Stuck on the outside of the fortifications she noted the flying buzz of something overhead and dismissed it, crawling low, stalking. Bright blue eyes cast no light, her battle cloak tugged over her dress. Carrying a total of 57 senbon and around 50 marbles she was ready to begin her stakeout.

Undead had been spotted in the vicinity and she was drawn by the idea of being able to inflict the maximum damage she could without holding back. At long last.

"Damn," Gwyn muttered as she entered the village. She wore her shirt, brown leather pants, boots, and nothing else to hide the 30 feet of rope coiled as an easy harness/strap for her Heavy Crossbow loaded with 19 crossbow bolts in a magazine, ready to fire. Around her waist sat her snow village headband and two feet of tied silk around a wide blade katana, an unusually long wakizashi and a tanto. She hadn't bothered to bring any of her caltrops, thinking Undead wouldn't be the type to stop for pain. "The things I'll do for money..." she sighed as she looked up at the sun and then around at the village, trying to discern where, if any, the trouble might be. Gwyn cracked her knuckles and rubbed the metal capped knuckles on each hand, then started off.

Zeki flew over the village one more time before catching sight of the two new people there. They were fairly easy to spot, not cowering or running from cover to cover, though the kid was a bit harder to see thanks to her size. Thermal vision cleared that up for the Sadojin though so it was not too hard to spot her. He would then lower his altitude a bit to speak more freely before saying, "Greetings! I take it you are here to find the ghastly problem we face? I think it is in the graveyard, which is where I will direct my search. Happy hunting!"

After saying that the Sadojin would raise up back to his original height and speed on over to the graveyard. Once there he would make lazy laps around it while scanning with his goggles, switching between x-ray and thermal vision to see if he could spot anything. Furthermore if he did see something he would zoom in on it to get a closer look.

Description: Also known as Flesh Eater. Common Ghouls are undead humans who feed on the flesh of corpses. They are vaguely recognized as the humans they once were, but have become horribly disfigured. Ghouls have long, forked tongues, sharp, elongated teeth and strong claws. All Ghouls look vaguely similar and may continue to wear the tattered remains of whatever clothes they had in life. Ghouls are slobbering, flesh-eating maniacs, but they hunt with an evil cunning. While Ghouls feast only on dead flesh, they have no problem with killing something to make it edible. Breaking Vials of holy water in the path of Ghouls will cause them to hesitate one round, then jump over or run around it. Ghouls attack en masse, swarming over prey and digging in with their filthy claws and biting with their fangs. Their touch paralyses humans unless a save vs paralyzation is made. Paralysis lasts for 2d4 rounds or until negated by a Cleanse Paralysis or similar Jutsu. They bite for 7 Armour Points of Damage and Claw for 7 Armour Points of Damage. Any human or killed by a Ghoul becomes one unless blessed or completely destroyed. Ghouls are immune to Sleep and Charm Jutsus. Ghouls are found in graveyards or wherever there are plenty of bodies. One in every 100,000 Ghouls may also retain some Intelligence. However, even these undead will still be overcome with the desire to feast on carrion and will be unable to conduct civilization conversation without munching on carrion first. So far as any civilization folks know, Ghouls can only be created by other Ghouls and Ghasts. The original undead creatures are believed to have been created by the Ghoul King, who dwells somewhere in the underworld. It is rumored that Chaotic Evil creatures can cannibalize the dead may turn into Ghouls. It should be noted, that many of the dead in the world are buried on consecrated ground to prevent Ghouls from defiling their bodies or turning them into ghouls.
Yields: The blood of a Ghoul can be used for Alchemical purposes. A user can gain 2d4 cups of Blood. Ghoul Brain may be used to make an Elixir of Ghoul Control (See Alchemy Ingestibles). An Elixir of Ghoul Control will work on Ghasts, although the Ghasts get a +2 save. 6 cups (6 pounds) of Ghoul Brain can be collected per Ghoul.

Crawling low to the ground Juniper turned when the sound of the copter swept down low and the man in the seat spoke to her. She had no clue of that INSUFFERABLE Gwyn coming around. She only understood base words. Undead. Graveyard. Heading to. Without reacting she watched him speed away in a direction and she took off after him.

Sprinting she leap a fortified wall, split into two and fell into a four legged gait, leaping off the last rooftop to land like a stone. While her soul split preformed a Bewildering Dust jutsu to cloak her in invisibility that booted her stealth but +200 Original Juniper cast them in superior Invisibility to hide their sound, scent and appearance further, detectable only by taste and touch. Her tremor invalidation made tremorsensing her impossible.

Prowling the underbrush she stalked into the graveyard and immediately began to piece together the situation. Now it was time to hunt. She was nearly salivating, her hidden extra arms unfurling from beneath the dress to aid in her crawling approach to the nearest gravestone where the dirt began to upheave. The living dead...

How exotic an abomination.

That little thing was here too! Gwyn probably shouldn't have been as surprised as she was, but she pushed her feelings away and listened to the man in the machine above them. Then he was off, and Juniper quickly behind. Gwyn growled and followed after, first activating her Umbral Fortification for an innate defense, and then her Umbral Aura for a shadowy second layer. Then, she jumped into the air and looked around the village from the sky. She spotted the graveyard quickly, and in it... Cn|rjOyA2-24 Ghouls!2-24

Zeki spotted the ghouls in the graveyard with his goggles and zoomed down on them with his flying machine. He raised a hand and a bolt of pure chakra flew from it to impact a ghoul on the head, causing it to explode in a shower of gore. Zeki then pulled up from his dive and started to circle around to make another pass at the ghouls below.

"Aim for the head! As undead they are resilient to damage!" Zeki would shout at his comrades in arms as he started another pass. Spreading knowledge like this was one way to make his job easier, and so he did it freely.

Common tongue was not Juniper's strongsuit. Whatever Zeki was yelling translated to gibberish. Maybe she could glean from it. Head and aim but she was already tumbling through the air, arms unfurled, slamming four of her chakra scalpels into it's skull for something around 2600ap or more than a skull should be able to withstand.

Coi ui threndiaw! It is obvious, she yelled but the cloak of invisibility made it impossible to make it through. Off to the left her clone was bounding over a tombstone, leap kicking a ghoul in the chest, clinging with talon'd feet to ride it to the ground and drags four blade up the length of it's abdomen before hacking the throat and neck off cleanly.

They knew where each other were but just pushed on. No time for the semantics.

Gwyn soared down at a steep angle into the fray of ghouls while stringing together a thread of handseals. When she finished, she drew her katana and sheathed it in chakra as it passed through the air. She dropped down directly infront of a ghoul of her own and opened it up with a reverse upward slash from the bottom to the right. She then slashed again, aiming this time for it's head in a horizontal strike after deftly switching the blade at the top of her previous stroke. The blade made a vicious wound and left a gaping smile where it's eyes used to be. Gwyn then kicked it in the chest to force it away from her and spun around, Eyes blazing red with her sharingan active to regard the rest of the creatures. "Fuck me there's quite a few of you, huh...?" Gwyn chuckled; it didn't seem as many from the sky. She rolled her shoulders, and smiled, eager for the workout.

[Ranzu]

Zeki watched the other two for a bit before making another pass, launching another bolt of pure force energy out at another ghoul. They seem to be more than capable of taking care of themselves against such a relatively minor enemy, so he took most of his attention off of them to focus more on the ghouls. It was time to get a little showy with this extermination.

On his last pass he let his gourd of sand fall to the ground, simply being detached from his body. It lost the henge instantly so all that anyone would see would be a pile of sand falling from the winged mechanical device. Pulling up out of his dive Zeki focused on the sand to cause it to literally eat away at the earth near it, creating a relatively large sand pile. From that sand pile rose a giant arm of sand that towered five meters in the air before it suddenly came crushing down on a unfortunate ghoul.

Dashing past shrubbery the ground shoot as a massive fist struck the ground, Juniper's eyes going wide and wild.

"Sane?" She muttered to herself in the privacy of the world her invisibility offered and took off running again full speed joined by her clone. Jumping into a cluster of four ghouls clawing themselves from the grave and staggering forward aggressively.

Landing in the middle of the four both Juniper's elongated the scalpels, extending from short sword, to longsword and into a massive cloaked fullblade. Clasping two of eachother's hands they started a spin and using the staggering bodies of the undead to run up from the ground in a horizontal angel, cleaving through the bodies of the undead like butter, a painless death for creatures of their origin.

Landing on their heels each took the time to crash that silent blade into each skull for good measure before looking out, sniffing then sprinting off into the fray for more of the carnage.

[Defiant]

"Fuckin' hell!" Gwyn exclaimed as the earth was rocked by the massive hand. She wanted to take a moment and appreciate the spectacle, but Ghouls were beginning to press in around her. She wished she had some grand spectacle attack that could sweep through the ranks of these creatures, but all she had was her skill with her weapons. Gwyn growled at the enemies around her and her left hand drew her wakizashi. Deftly, she swung both in a spiral of flashing steel, slicing deeply into flesh with each circle, severing hands, slashing knees, slicing jaws and removing heads. Gwyn then rolled between the trio of ghouls and sliced two of their legs clean off as she passed, and then jumped upon the third ones back, embedding her katana deep into it's spine. With a roar, she pulled it upwards and split the creature's top half in two pieces, leaving him to stand swaying weirdly for a moment before toppling over.

Zeki directed the hand into the biggest mass of ghouls and managed to crush most of them in a single strike. The single survivor was taken out by another chakra bolt to the head. Performing another pass of the graveyard showed Zeki that this was the last of the ghouls, at least in this pack. Doesn't mean there were more around, especially if there was a ghast leading them, but for now it looked like they cleaned up the graveyard quite nicely.

"Right, well, let us clean up here and then take a look around the place. There may be more of them around." Zeki would say to the others as he passed over them, before banking sharply to the left and heading back toward the village a bit. It wouldn't do for a ghoul to have escaped and infect villagers, all their work would be for naught.

When she scanned the field she saw only gore and carnage, tiny chest heaving, eyes squinting, teeth bared in that feral mindstate of violence over everything. There were times when it took over, made her remember the young days of being visceral and out in the wild before Kahimi had taken her in.

It wasn't till some overhead voice spooked her back to reality and she flinched reflexively to find the chopper fleeing back towards the village. Joining her clone Juniper bounding across the field and narrowly avoided crashing into Gwyn, something ominous and angry flipping through her but she remember Kahimi's speech to her once. Those who wore that headband were allies and friends, not enemies.

Of course she wanted to lash out but instead she took a few steps back and dropped her cloaking, blades dissolving and she croaked a sound at Gwyn. "Zyak wux shilta slathalin." So you can fight.

With her clone still cloaked she stood just a meter between the two, watching quietly, waiting for something. A signal. Anything. "Better... eh... to fight." Her nostrils flared for a moment before turning to go and survey the village. "No coward. Maybe chicken instead?" She jeered with a toothy grin taking off on all fours.

Gwwyn sheathed her swords as she looked around at the corpse strewn graveyard. "Well...you all died in the right place," she mumbled to herself. The man with the flying machine had the right idea. They should check the village proper, as it was unlikely that the only threat would be here. Gwyn was about to dash off when the little girl appeared before her. Gwyn growled a little, and clenched her right hand as the girl babbled at her. But then she relaxed just a bit when she realized that the girl was trying to...compliment her? "Uh...thanks?" Was chicken better than coward? She figured it was the same thing, but clearly to this little thing it was a step up. Gwyn quickly followed after her and the man with the flying machine, flying just above the rooftops to help in the search for more ghouls.

Zeki flew around the village, looking around for anymore signs of ghouls. The village needed protecting the most and so he was doing his best to make sure nothing undead was still around. Judging by how the villagers were all scurrying away they clearly heard the sounds of combat and had come to watch. Now that the victors were coming back they were trying to get back to safety. A pass thought of asking the villagers for information came to mind but he doubted he would get much out of them.

Instead he just started to switch between goggle lens to view the surrounding area in better detail. Hunting for any sign of the undead was pretty simple, most were not smart enough to cover their own tracks or hide their kills. Nor did they take too well to anything living, which meant fleeing animals were a easy indicator of them.

What a strange day today. Where the hell did that Kage get off to? Seiryuu Kyuushu rode through the countryside in his typical garb of a green short sleeved cotton shirt edged with gold thread, nearly black deep green cotton pants and the soft slipper shoes of the nobility; although sturdier than typical. His bow was slung across his chest and his Naginata in hand as he sat atop a massive horse of unnatural black, cherry red eyes watching with a battle-hardened gaze, mane and tail of the same color blowing in the light breeze that seemed to be ever-present in grasslands; it even caught his black hair in a small soft frenzy. A roguishly handsome face with mirror like black eyes gazed upon the lands surrounding him and the scene caused his brow to furrow. In an instant it changed from Green to Gore, while three shinobi stood in the desecration, their eyes searching for more of these…creatures.

“Hail, warriors! I come in peace!” he did not try to hide the steel plating that displayed a proud Otogakure symbol upon a green band of cloth upon his head, “Yet, simultaneously, it seems I have come to make war upon the creatures of darkness.” He spit near the mostly intact corpse of a ghoul only freshly fallen some short time before he had arrived, casting his eyes about for more of the foul beasts, taking in the fortified walls before him as well that must be a point of defense. Ravens circled overhead, the carrion feeders eyeing the undead flesh that littered the field, coagulated blood congealing upon grass that was once green as emerald. He would aid these folks if he could, though he was unsure what it was that they battled, it did seem that they could die, and he was more than skilled enough to kill.

Sprinting to the village with her clone not far behind Juniper scaled a fortified wall and climbed to the highest rooftop she could find, throwing a withering gaze down around the towns people. She sniffed the air, seeking poison and disease. Anyone infected or an undead who might have slipped through the area. Unforgivable if so.

Looking to the man in the sky why waved her arms at him frantically.

"What is purpose?!" She called up at him, hands around her mouth. She hadn't been outside of Yuki in a long while but to see another soul and the weird abilities he carried with him was way too interesting.
