Sand Meeting Ground Chuunin Exams

[Ikki Sanada]

Ikki Sanada and his team were moving through the forest. He had just passed through the Gates with Hugo and Lue behind him. The two boys were following behind the young pugilist, hoping to catch some glance of the temple or tower they were supposed to find. They were still heading south toward the middle of the area when Ikki heard his two teammates speaking behind him. Hugo hadn't seen anything around them but he theorized that maybe if they headed to the tree tops they would be able to see farther.

Ikki nodded at him and they started to head up the nearest tree. As they headed up Lue started to speak as well. He explained the ground was too solid to try his marking technique but that he had come up with another idea. He would use a special code and a spcial order that they were in. If Ikki and the team followed the order backward they would be able to get back to where they started from.

The young pugilist decided it was a great idea, he just hoped he would be able to remember the special code. Finally, upon reached the top of the trees Ikki and his team would take a look around. If they saw anything that looked like the temple Ikki would lead them toward it. If they did not Ikki would lead them south again.

[That's fine Ikki. Like I said, just let me know if you think you'll miss the IIC. You came very close this time around.]

Hayate, with his Byakugan active, would notice to the south east that there was a break in the trees. It was too far for the others to see, but it looked as though the trees would open up about 70 meters away. In all other directions, the trees continued to cover them. But would they continue through the trees to stay in cover and continue with Lue's marking plan? Or head to the wide open area and see what came up from there?

Trying to make it to the tops of the trees wouldn't work. While they could continue on the branches, the higher branches were woven in a way that made it near impossible to make it to the very tops of the trees. But with the open area coming up, it wasn't too big of a deal unless they decided to continue in the cover of the forest. There were so many choices on where to go, but the light markings on the trees didn't seem to be any more frequent. The occasional small animal, such as a squirrel or a bird, could be seen in the thick forest. There also seemed to be more grass as they left the outer edge, making the ground a little softer.

Lue explained just what to look for in the markings something he would have to make sure to keep in mind. Hugo alos received his tags back because Lue somehow couldn't control them. Interesting how taijutsu users could be so different. They weren't able to get to the very top of the trees but at least they could move from branch to branch. It would help to avoid any dangerous animals to hold them up. Far off his eyes picked up an area that opened up maybe it was their destination. "Hey guys, south east bout seventy meters the trees start to clear up. Maybe our goal is over there." Assuming they all agreed Hugo would set off making their new direction south east towards the break in the trees. There was no time to waste "Lue keep thos markings up and stay sharp we still haven't found any dangers but who knows what will come."

He hears Ikki speak to Lue and Hugo, to keep an eye out for the temple and such. Lue would definitely need to keep his eye on things. For one, the markings on the trees, he would have to be quick in comprehending what`s on the tree and then cutting into it with the appropriate mark. As he tries to climb up to the top of the trees, above the branches were woven together, tangled. He won`t be able to get through. Following Hugo, seems like it`ll be alright to travel from branch to branch instead.

Hugo then started to speak about a clearing in the distance. "That`s seems way to obvious of a battle arena, though if we have to go through I guess we just need to be ready for it", he says aloud to his teammates. Where else are they suppose to go? Besides, he`ll just leave it up to his teammates to decide what to do if something comes up. Or maybe something else is over there. Who knows. Lue wasn`t going to waste his energy just thinking. Hugo then spoke to Lue giving him caution to be prepared. "Will do", he replies as he marks the appropriate trees as he moves


OoC: If Ikki doesn`t say anything then I`ll be heading south-east also behind Hugo.

The young pugulist was the first person to reach the top of the trees, or at least as close to the top as he could get. When he was nearly at the top the branches started to weave together and it was almost impossible for him to get through. Ikki could just barely see rays of sunlight coming through and could feel air that was slightly cooler than that was around him. He looked back down and saw his teammates making their ways toward him.

Hugo was still looking around and Lue was still creating marks on the trees. By the time they reached where Ikki was the young pugilist had a kunai out and was about to slash at the branches to try and force his way to the top.

Just as he was about to bring his arm around to slash at the wood he heard Hugo speak. "Hey guys, south east bout seventy meters the trees start to clear up. Maybe our goal is over there." Ikki slipped the kunai back into his hip bag and turned his head to look toward where Hugo was pointed. He couldn't see anything at first glance but he trusted Hugo's eyes. "Lue keep thos markings up and stay sharp we still haven't found any dangers but who knows what will come."

Ikki agreed silently to Hugo's request. Hugo started to move toward the direction of the cleared and Lue followed behind. Lue spoke out loud, voicing his concern of what was to come. "That`s seems way to obvious of a battle arena, though if we have to go through I guess we just need to be ready for it"

The Genin took this time to speak out loud as well. "Lue is right, it could be some sort of battleground and we should be careful. Hugo, let us know when we are getting close so we can take it slower. When we get to the actual clearing we should stop and wait a minute just outside of it to make sure there is nothing waiting for us."

If his team agreed, they would do just that. When they reached the clearing they would slow down and stop just outside of it, sticking to the trees and trying to stay out of sight if there was anything in the clearing. When they arrived Ikki would concentrate his vision to try and pick out anything that seemed off.

[Chuunin Examiner 2]

The group would head to the south east, making sure to stick to the trees once they reached the light. Before them, an open expanse would be seen. Other large patches of trees could be seen in all directions. From the point they were at, they would see several animals throughout the area, grazing on the grasses. Some would look at the ninja, but then they would go back to what they were doing. It seemed like a relatively peaceful place, if it wasn't for what they knew also was in here. Other shinobi were roaming this area as well, and they'd have to be on their guard.

They would quickly notice that the patches of trees throughout the area were of varying heights, so it was hard to say where exactly the tower was. Meanwhile, they would be able to see a little movement in the distant south. With the use of the byakugan, Hugo would be able to get a better look, but they were still a bit further out than his Byakugan could travel. With what he could see, he would notice three things. 1) They hadn't seen the Sand Shinobi. 2) They were making their way toward the patch of trees to their east, which was South-East for the Sand Shinobi. And 3) They didn't quite look human. They had human type qualities, but they also looked fairly different. Perhaps there were more obstacles in here than just the examinees? They'd definitely have to be on their guard. But for now, the group seemed over 200 meters away. It could take a bit to reach them if they wanted to start conflict.

Lue and Ikki both voiced concerns about the area they were heading towards. It was strange that an area like this just suddenly cleared up for them. However he was confident in his eyes to pick up signs of life and chakra. This would help to find enemies trying to hide. The Genin took this time to speak out loud as well. Hugo didn’t mind waiting a little better safe than sorry but when the time did come for a fight they would be ready. As they’re travels furthered his eyes picked up something. He couldn’t tell exactly what it was but it seemed human and was traveling at a rather fast pace. ”Hey guys I can’t get a good look but something that seems human is out there. We’re pretty much heading in the same direction but they’re far off for now. Keep up your guard but let’s pick up the pace the closer we get the faster I can find out if they’re an enemy or just some animal.”

His eyes had somehow picked up something but it wasn’t close enough. He hoped his teammates shared his interest. This was the first human like thing they had found in the woods. He was certainly interested but it seemed his teammates wanted to stay on the cautious side. Hopefully they would find some answers soon. This was getting exciting!

He was thinking: It would be more then likely that any other route would be difficult. When he first came up with the marking trail, the ground was rock and the trees were already been cut upon. When they wanted to travel by tree tops: the branches atop were woven together. Would this open place be enclose once they get inside to deal whatever it is that is likely waiting for them? No, this may be the opportunity to make this event easier on him. Hugo suddenly spoke aloud, informing there was a human like signal. "If something does happen when we reach over there, let`s try to grab anything that may be useful to us afterwards", he replied aloud.

This is a race to him, it would be out of the question to take a stop. Or else he would`ve made a wooden sword out of one of the trees. Whatever it is in the opening ahead, at the least there would be already made traps which he could just keep anything after wards. Thinking of which, Hugo, with his superior eye sight, can inform the team of the enemies exact location. "All this is an examination, it`s more than likely that there`ll be blocked paths other than going right up ahead: They likely want us to be in this particular situation to see what we can do". "Whoever it is, there would be no real reason why they are in such a watched place like this". "We may as well keep rushing on ahead without stop, we don`t want the other teams to beat us". "Hugo, when ya can, tell us their exact formation so we can all split up and kill them all accordingly", he finally finished cutting the appropriate trees with his code.

They were ninja after all, they should be stealthy and whatnot. He doesn`t know about the other two, but it`ll be easier for him to just go in for a simple assassination. It was likely that he was the most normal of the group, he can`t make the ground into quicksand or blow them all away with a powerful gust of wind. But, at the very least, he is resourceful.

The young pugilist was unsure of this entire situation. From the time that the announcement had come that the gates were being open all the way to this moment, things seemed out of place. The announcer had chuckled at the fact that this was such an "easy" task for them. Then when they got inside the arena there was nothing to stop them from moving forward. Ikki didn't know what was going on but her was sure something wasn't right.

As they kept moving, Hugo noticed something far off into the distance. He tried to describe what it was but it was just outside of his site range and he could only make out their shapes. He said they... looked human? Ikki thought to himself. They either were human or they weren't. This was getting stranger by the minute. Hugo postulated that the shapes may be an animal and that fact calmed Ikki's nerves, but only for a moment.

Then Lue started to speak, Ikki could hear him making the cuts in the trees as they moved forward. He had a good idea, we should keep moving but if we got closer we should try to ambush them and see if they had an useful items. Ikki agreed.

"Good plan, lets get a little closer and see whats up. I know you've been doing this so far, but don't forget to keep your guard up. Something about this seems out of place."

The group continued on their path, eventually they would get closer to whatever it was Hugo had seen, and at that point they would make plans on how to move forward. But for now all there was for the Suna ninja was running.
