Shihana walked into the Hitofuki shopping center and looked around at all of the wonderful items for sale. She had tried in the Land of Wind and not found too much, but out here that she hoped her luck would fair better. She had worn her standard clothing and looked over the shopkeepers with her alert gaze, speaking with them to determine what recipes and tools they had for her alchemical creations. If they had anything of value, Shihana planned to happily give up her ryo.

Bone Ore [recipe, 3750 ryo]
Rank: "S"
Type: Secondary, 15 per Slot, Harnessed Gem
Effect: A specialized gem used to revive a person back as a zombie.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Equipment Type: Slotless. Occasionally Hematite is found as honey-combed masses in caves. Mineral alchemists call this variety bone ore. Bone ore has long been used in funeral rites, but a mineral alchemist named Fellis thought he could use bone ore to ease the suffering of people who had lost friends or family to an untimely death. Fellis hoped to use bone ore to allow the dead a few more hours of life so they could say their farewells, maybe answer questions pertaining to heirs, estates, and financial matters, or just let friends and family spend a few more hours together. Fellis ground up the bone ore and mixed it with bark from a dead oak tree, soil from a graveyard, and a few other alchemical items. Fellis received permission to try his new alchemy on the corpse of a young man killed by a runaway horse. Fellis spread the mixture to cover the corpse. After waiting 24 hours, Fellis expected to see the young man rise with new life, at least for a few hours, so that he could say his proper good-byes to his young wife. Rise the young man did, but he was not alive. The young man had been turned to a zombie by the bone ore mixture and began to attack its former wife. The zombie was dealt with, and Fellis was forced to flee for his life from the village. Fellis tried to keep the knowledge of the bone ore secret, but word of the incident spread like wildfire, as did Fellis' formula. Now those with other motives use bone ore to create undead. When a recently dead body (less than 48 hours) is buried in the bone ore mixture for 24 hours, the corpse becomes a 1 Class Point zombie. The zombie is not under any control initially, although the creator is able to command the zombie through the normal use of Jutsus.

Not as lustrous or brilliant as a true marine pearl, they are accepted but not as sought after as gemstones. The gems natural alchemy was not realized until recently. An Alchemist named James Doolittle traveled to a small island in the Waves Islands to study the unique animal life there. There, he harvested a freshwater oyster for one of his meals and found a pearl inside. While pleased with his find, Doolittle thought little of it, and over the next few weeks he kept the pearl with him, and actually began to carve the pearl while watching the birds and large iguanas on the island. At first the carving had no shape, but after a couple of days the pearl took on the shape of a mouth. After finishing the carving, Doolittle realized he could now talk to the animals. He was amazed by the new ability, and soon figured out it was due to the pearl he had carved. Doolittle finished the research he was doing, and went on to great fame as a champion of animal rights. He never let on how he had the ability to speak with animals, and it was not until after his death that his secret was revealed. Since then, alchemists have been harnessing the natural Alchemy of the freshwater pearl. Type: Secondary, 15 per Slot, Harnessed Gem
Effect: A gem capable of dealing high amount of fire damage and applying negative Class Points.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Equipment Type: Explosive. The star ruby has been a favored gemstone for millennia. The play of the star-shaped opalescence on the surface of the ruby enhances the gems quality and value and seems to hypnotize those who look at the gem. The natural alchemy of the star ruby was learned long ago, and the dreaded power that the star ruby contained so feared the earliest discoverers that care was taken to keep the star ruby's power a secret. As with most secrets this one was soon learned and the power of the star ruby was available to the masses. Called the star fire gem, the star ruby's natural alchemy is harnessed when a star ruby is cut and polished into a perfect sphere such that the star pattern is visible along two sides of the sphere. When the star fire gem is thrown and hits a surface the Alchemy within the gem is released. A black and red flame bursts from the gem out to a radius of 8 meters. Night Orb [recipe, 2525 ryo]
Rank: "S"
Type: Secondary, 15 per Slot, Harnessed Gem
Effect: A gem cut in a way to absorb light within a decent range.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Equipment Type: Slotless. The discovery of the blacklight gem spurred research into what other properties jet may contain. Alchemical laws of duality suggested that jet would contain a second alchemy potential that could still be harnessed. It took some time before a minor alchemist studying the gems properties at a school made a breakthrough. Many alchemists had tried other ways to cut the gem, but this alchemist, whose name has never been released, realized that the secret might be hidden further in the already discovered geometry. This alchemist cut a piece of jet and harnessed a blacklight gem. He did not stop there, and kept cutting the gem until he had a 38-sided spheroid. After he made the final cut all the light in the room was absorbed by the gem, leaving him in total darkness. A piece of jet cut into a 38-sided spheroid harnesses the night orb. The gem absorbs all natural and artificial light, though not Chakra light such as daylight, in a 20-meter radius. This creates an area of Chakra darkness centered on the night orb. The gem can be shrouded or placed in a container to keep the night orb from absorbing light.

Qurna's Eye
Rank: "S"
Type: Secondary, 15 per Slot, Harnessed Gem
Effect: A gem capable of producing a realistic image that'll last for a brief period of time.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Equipment Type: Slotless. Qurna, the Goddess of Chakra, has bestowed her power across the land, so it is only natural that a gem shares in her alchemy. The opal, with its play of colors, is reminiscent of the auroras that mark Qurna's home in the heavens and was one of the first gems to be harnessed for its natural Alchemy. When an opal is carved into a sphere with a flat base on one side the gems alchemy is harnessed. The gem can create a realistic image, including sound, smell, and thermal effects. To use the gem the person must first "program" the Eye with the desired image. Holding the gem to the forehead and thinking about the image that the user wants to create programs the Eye. Qurna's Eye can create a single image that fits within a 35-meter diameter centered on the Eye, or multiple images that would fit with the same space. The image can be of anything the person can think of, and can include appropriate sounds, smells, and other effects. People can be programmed to speak specific dialog, but cannot otherwise interact with real things. The image can be programmed to last for a specific duration up to the maximum duration of 10 minutes. Once the image is programmed, the Eye is placed on the ground, flat side down, to activate the image. Once activated, the image will last for the programmed duration unless it is directly attacked, which will cause the image to disappear. Once the image has ended, the Eye crumbles to dust.
