"Okay, no need to act like some sort of Kyoudo Lightning mastermind or something, jeez," a young girl mumbled as she sat cross legged in the shade of an old maple tree. The boy standing before her was twirling a bar of light, and that bar was crackling with energy and it's silhouette was jumping with blue, jagged flairs. She watched the beam move and swish through the air, before coming to a horizontal stop, held out by the boy with blonde hair and smokey green eyes.
"I thought you wanted to learn though?" he cooed with a sly smile. Siobhan's lips curled down into a frown before she brought herself up to her feet. "Good!" he exclaimed with a happy grin as she begrudgingly rose before him. The bar disappeared with a snap of his fingers, and the crackling vanished along with it in the same instant. It was called lightning sword, the name was as simple as the technique, and Siobhan resolved to learn it as quickly as she could.
Arekkusu, her teacher, had other plans. The young man rubbed his hands together as though he was getting ready to start showing her the seals, but instead he nodded to her to follow the action. She complied, despite the initial confusion. It warmed her hands, and turned her palms a little red, but nothing else was coming of it.
"Lightning really messes with nerve endings, sending false signals, and something simply scrambling or even shutting off one's responses. Because it's such an intrinsic part of the nature, it makes the entire release a double edged sword; using lightning won't just hurt your opponent, it'll-"
"I know what a double edged sword is," she interrupted and stopped rubbing her hands together. "Let's get to the technique already!" Arekkusu didn't feed her outburst, however, and simply continued to rub his hands in silence until she followed suit. It was starting to hurt now.
"When you use the lightning sword," he continued, "You're sending lightning chakra through your hand and holding it. Unlike most techniques where it's released, the constant nature transformation, and the proximity to your skin and nerve endings, can cause your hands to become completely unusable if you're not careful," he took his hands apart and showed her his palms; they were still white, and he could wiggle all his fingers with ease. When she took her hands apart, they were beat red, pulsing, and painful.
"Feels kinda like that," he said with a chuckle; if her hands weren't suddenly completely unusable she would have punched him. "That's why the first thing you're going to need to do is pick a hand, and the second thing is coat it in the thinnest layer of chakra," he was probably demonstrating, but the quantity it took was too little to be visible," so when the lightning's passing back and forth through your skin, it's not immediately paralyzing or setting you on fire!"
