The Shaft is the part that is created out of wood or carbon fiber used to let the arrow sail without completely collapsing to the floor. The Fletching is the part that gives the arrow the speed and extra power in distance by allowing the arrow better control of moving in a straight line. All three is needed to better the arrow, to give it the power needed to take down game. Bolts and arrows have different flight characteristics. Bolts fall at the same rate, independent of the speed of flight. Arrows, in contrast, depend on gaining lift in flight, and hence have their centre of balance at a point about 9% of their length forward of their center. This is called "point planning". Personality;;
As part of the Kaguya bloodlimit, some automatically assume that Ayano is aggressive since “her people” were known for their warmongering ways (this stereotype part of the reason that Ayano takes the surname “Kikkawa” instead of “Kaguya”). However, this could not be farther from the truth. When it comes to confrontation, Ayano sprints in the opposite direction. She's not afraid; she's apathetic. She's concerned with her own mental and physical well-being; she has never actually had a fight with a fellow shinobi because she has a defensive mentality. She's never had a reason to protect herself (or her village, and she would only protect that because it's advantageous for her to do so, and if her mortality was on the line, she'd abandon her village in the blink of an eye). Because of this indifferent outlook on life, Ayano tends to be more pessimistic. She doesn't care about the outcomes of decisions that others make. When she makes her own decisions, she's intelligent enough to realize the outcome ahead of time.
While she never feels strongly one way or another when it comes to abstract ideas like good, evil, and the law, Ayano sticks to her own moral code. She never lies, she never attacks the defenseless, she's not a greedy person (though that doesn't make her selfless, either), she gives respect to those who respect her, and she never persuades anyone to do something that they don't want to do. She tries to help those in her village, but her apathy sometimes prevents her. Again, she's never been in a fight, but she would show mercy to the unarmed and to the defenseless. Simple enough in her head.
As part of the Dhenada Clan, her personality presents a bit of an obstacle. Ayano's apathy sometimes gets in the way of the Clan's belief in life, arts, and science. Thankfully for her, the Clan is not a very tight-knit group of people, so it's not a huge concern. She does have an interest in figuring out the mysteries of the planet, of new jutsus, of life in general, but it's more of an “in theory” type of deal. When it comes to actually doing something, Ayano would much rather just light up a cigarette and stay put.
Sort of peculiar given her defensive nature, Ayano holds grudges like no other. A person's first impression leaves the biggest impact on her. If somebody pisses her off from the get-go, there's a good chance that person will never be in her company again. Having just graduated from the Academy, this could prove difficult for whatever future team with which Ayano gets stuck...
Appearance;;
In general, Ayano's skin is smooth. There are no stretch marks, no wrinkles, no moles or freckles, and no scars. She's not tan year-round, but she's not white either; she maintains a complexion just above pale. While her skin may not be silky and she may not look super-healthy, Ayano is still somewhat attractive according to traditional standards. While there are no natural blemishes, Ayano does have a tribal tattoo covering her right shoulder and upper arm.
Going from top to bottom, Ayano has a well-rounded face. Her jaw line is only slightly prominent; it does not jut out but rounds around the bottom of her face. Her cheekbones are the same. They are not very prominent or high, a layer of well-rounded, delicate skin smoothing out the sides of her face. Her eyes are wider-set than most. Her forehead is average sized, her bangs obscuring parts of it.
Her hair, dark brown ("it's light black") and quite thin, is mostly straight with some spikey bangs jutting up less than half an inch before falling just past her eyes. The rest of it falls just past her shoulders, layered a bit in the back. A bored expression commonly surfaces on her face; it's not a frown, it's just not a smile. Her lips are thin and pale. She has just started smoking, so her teeth and gums still look healthy. Her eyes carry a dull drooping. Her eyebrows, just a shade lighter than her hair, are quite narrow. Her eyes are a very light shade of green. Her nose is small and the perfect compromise between pointy and rounded.
Ayano's body is slim with an athletic build. While she is a teenager and hence still growing, she doesn’t expect to get much taller than she is now. Her abs are toned without being muscular. Her arms contain definition, but again, they don't look particularly built. Her legs are much longer than her torso (though she's pretty short regardless) and thin in shape as well. She is neither too big nor too small; she is sturdy. She has a slouching posture representative of some sort of teenage angst.
When it comes to clothing, Ayano generally has a bow strapped to her back and a quiver of arrows. She has black gloves on both her hands, a square missing out of the back of both. She generally wears a plain, black tank top to showcase her tattoo (and because it's easier to train in). She either wears plain, black shorts or pants to go along with it. Her shorts, pants, and shirt are usually cotton. Often, she doesn't bother to wear shoes, and if she does, they're flat and black or they're sandals of some sort. Because she wears darker clothes, she doesn’t stand out. She generally has a lighter and a pack of cigarettes or matches with her as well.
History;;
//Prequel;;Unlike a decent portion of those who end up becoming notorious ninja, Ayano's family is a relatively quiet one. Both her parents are still alive. There has never been any real tragedy in her family aside from a few relatives dying naturally-related deaths. Her parents are both titled as Jonin in Takigakure, although they only take a mission every few months. They are both part of the Kaguya Bloodlimit, and they are both part of the Dhenada Clan. They were both taught the Calcium Extraction and the Calcium Starvation techniques and about the vaccines and their condition from a young age. Ayano's father is the one who trains her, and he taught her about the bloodlimit techniques when she was young as well. While they are both part of the Dhenada Clan, they are not pious members. They were handed down techniques and stories from their ancestors. While they believe in the ideas set forth in it, they are not strict in its practice.
//Part One;;Ayano's earliest memory is sitting on her father's lap while he read from a scroll to her. She doesn't remember what the scroll contained. She just remembers that he was reading it to her. Since she was young, she's had a thirst for more knowledge. Her curious nature allowed her to absorb information at a faster rate. She was excited when her parents taught her things, even if they had nothing to do with being a ninja. The world was her playground. She looked at everything from multiple perspectives. Everything was a puzzle that had to be assembled and disassembled numerous times so that its every use was discovered. Ayano looked up to her parents, especially her father because he was the one who taught her in the ways of a proper shinobi. Although, she was never sure whether or not she wanted to even be a ninja. She just knew that she liked discovering what everything around her could do. She liked to manipulate things. Ayano's parents were always very happy with the daughter that they had raised because she was smart, curious, and polite, and Ayano was always happy with them in return. There was no family strife.
//Part Two;;Ayano's schooling career was ordinary. She was friends with everybody without ever being best friends but without creating enemies at the same time. While she enjoyed school because she still contained a passion for learning, she felt that it was too slow for her. She felt that she could learn at a faster pace if she was doing it on her own or if she was learning from her parents. At the same time, though, she was still happy with school. She got along with her instructors and vice-versa. The academy techniques, while they took a bit of effort, weren't too much of obstacles.
Later in her Academy school-life, Ayano realized that the name "Kaguya" could have a negative connotation. While her parents had taught her of the aggressive nature of the Bloodlimit from way-back-when, Ayano didn't realize that people still thought that about Kaguyas. Granted, it wasn't all, or even most, people, but it was still some. Very shortly before graduating from The Academy, Ayano decided that she would take an older family name: Kikkawa. While her parents were not particularly enthused with the decision, they allowed it to be her decision. They figured a greater level of autonomy was only appropriate since she was about to graduate and become a genin.
//Part Three;;However, shortly after graduating from The Academy, Ayano started to lose her curiosity. Shortly after she was granted the title of genin, those genins who went to the Chuunin Exams returned. Not that many from Waterfall had gone, and even less had returned. Only one of those few who had returned was granted the title of Chuunin. And here Ayano was, headband in one hand, scroll in the other, and an epiphany struck her: what's the point? Those ninja had left to attend a set of exams just to achieve a higher rank. They died trying to get that rank. And the ones who came back were denied it, after seeing their fellow Waterfall ninja die, only to try again next time. It just seemed too morbid for Ayano, who had a thirst for knowledge, not for combat. She decided not to wear the headband, although she would continue to represent her village. Her apathy started here.
Her urge to train, to learn, stopped. She no longer cared about past achievements or regrets. She didn't care about making money. She took up smoking and board games like Shogi to pass the time. While her ties with her family are still strong, she's just a different person from who she used to be. She doesn't consider it a bad thing; someone around here has to be the sane one.
