Character Depth
Personality:
[Defeated] York was born to lose the game of birth; he was born in the greatest family of Otogakure, but he was born second. And so, his elder sibling would inherit the throne before him. No doubt, some would be driven to murder by this arrangement, but the other category, which York falls into, would be driven to defeat. York has known from a very young age that nothing will likely ever put him in succession order ahead of his elder, ninja-master sibling. As a result, he is drained of emotion. He goes through the emotions, but he accepts defeat and knows when to give up. He is not suicidal, or even depressed, simply a little off.
[Cunning] Any man, especially York, had the ability to scheme. Some, just are better at intricate schemes. These cunning individuals are able to mobilize multiple forces, prod multiple minds, and suggest certain courses of actions which will ultimately lead to the fulfillment of a goal. Perhaps, the ability to make things happen comes with intellect, but perhaps it is a trait all its own. Although he is cunning and can plan things, York will never use his cunning to disrupt that order which he so values; mostly using his cunning as a simple way of advancing through the system.
[Scholarly] A scholarly person respects the pursuit of knowledge above all else. He will sit for hours, conversing and pondering to find the answer to a question, no matter how small. The Scholar has taste for books and tomes, as well as laboratories and lectures. Scholars always find their ways of using this knowledge, but that isn’t what matters to them. Especially in York’s case, the acquisition of knowledge is key. A true scholar does not need to think Knowledge is Power, but only to know that they know nothing. That alone is enough to drive a lifelong pursuit.
[Nonchalant] York is not prone to fits of rage, joy, sadness or any other great emotion. Generally, very few things can move him to emote. This had nothing to do with being inactive, or idle. No doubt, York will often act upon his emotions, but not without checking them. He will neither outwardly sign nor acknowledge his emotions, unless he had pondered them an decided they are appropriate.
[Filial] And, above all else, York is a family man. He loves his sisters, and brothers and even his parents. He sees the great commonality that they share with him more than any others. They are his blood; and they are comrades in their grandeur of his family. Even when others squabble for themselves, York finds place to love each and every member of his family.
[Lustful] Many otherwise orderly men suffer a few vices which often keep them from order. In York’s case, he is oft fighting with sexual desires. He had been able to fight them throughout his life, but he still feels a distinct sense of lust. His internal order is usually very strong, but in this case, there is one seed in his mind pulling to the path of chaos.
[Subservient] York is subservient in a rather loose sense of the term. He still enjoys having power, and being as high up in the ladder as possible. But, in some ways, he likes being out of control. He likes it when the system carries him, and tells him what to do. Because of this subservience he might take an order from somebody much more easily than an insubordinate character would. And, when he is among others equal to him, he will often give guidance but yield control. There is something in him that likes obedience.
