Shadow Double
Rank: "C"
Skill: GenJutsu
Effect: User completes the Jutsu and nearby shadows gather together, assuming the user's approximate size and shape.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: ---
Description: Affects anyone who sees the double. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 7 meters plus 6 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 rounds per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. User create a shadowy duplicate of themselves at a place they indicate within range. The Shadow Double attacks any adjacent target (regardless of the weapon it appears to wield), as the user desires, starting in the round when they perform the Jutsu. It attacks on the user's turn once each round. After the attack the Shadow Double becomes a Shadow once again until the next round to appear and strike for that round while repeating the process. Each hit deals 1 point of Movement damage to the target. The first time a target is hit, it can attempt a save to disbelieve the effect; this negates the damage and renders it immune to further attacks by the shadow double. It is not incorporeal, and thus can't be in the same area as another creature or object. Each round after the first, the user can take a movement to direct the Shadow Double to attack any other target.

As I moved cautiously through the western regions of the land of Fire, I began to delve into my mind on the mastery of my only perception. Shadows had been copious in the canopy-laden environ, so I had the medium required to perform a series of shadow-based techniques. I would move off to the side some five meters away from the known path into the thicket, anxious to test a Genjutsu that I'd been thinking about for some time since I'd been in Mo Village. Following suit of the perception requisites, I began to cast hand seals as my mind opened to the possibility that shadows could become tangible.
Initially, as my chakra began to channel through my being, my mind sought to make manifest that shadows in the likeness of the Shadowskin technique; I controlled the thoughts to craft a shadow being of its own identity. As the blackness from several trees came together to form a meter wide blob of inky shadow on the ground, I willed it further, causing it to reach a height and size similar to my own by the control of my spirit and thoughts alone. The Shadow Double that had been created appeared to have a very similar outline to my own--the only thing that it lacked as true definition and vitality. My first attempt at creating a doppelganger molded from shadow had been one that I would remember. With my own thoughts feeding the Double, it began to teeter towards me, sure to stay within the boundaries of the dark forest and away from the areas controlled by the light that shined through.
It was impressive that the thing could move at all. It's composure remained solid even though it was created from chakra and liquid shadow. While it lacked all the corporeal features of I, the original, it possessed similar characteristics such as the same hair line, stance and apparent attitude that I displayed myself. It stood no more than half a meter away from me, seemingly staring me down as I moved my hand towards it. Instantly, my own technique had been disbelieved as I interacted physically with it. I could tell that it wasn't there, yet it had been there. Illusion Art Perceptions had a peculiar dominance over the mind, and given the flow of one's chakra, their mind could be able to believe just about anything a user of Genjutsu had wanted them too. My doppelganger retreated back a few steps as its black body became whole again, now that my hand had been removed from its center.
With a bit of mental control, I tasked the thing to swing its arm. Quick. Fluid. Effective. Had I been pit against this mental conjuration, I would have thought it to have been some black ghoul or spirit. Luckily it was I who was in control of the Shadow Double's thoughts, so I was the one who willed it into action. Once it had attacked the air, though, I noticed that it retreated back into a meter wide pool of black shadow, waiting for a moment to re-materialize back into a replication of myself. So this technique had a small drawback: between attacks, the Shadow Double would return to its innate state and cease attacking. Once it had became made in my essence once more, I challenged it to strike me. One of the arms turned slender and elongated, as if though to reproduce the length of a longsword. As it lashed out towards me, I knew nothing would happen to me, as I knew that it had been nothing more than an illusion of the mind. Someone else, however, who may have fallen under the blade of the Shadow doppelganger, would not have known that it wasn't real just as easily as the caster did. Maybe another Genjutsu specialist or Master could see through my illusion. It would be best to use this technique in tandem with my own striking skill, to throw them in a loop between corporeal and incorporeal.
