Dreadnought of the Gods
{Colosseum part 2}
{Colosseum part 2}
Rank – S
Long ago, in a time best forgotten, in an age before that of man, lived beings of ancient and divine power. In today’s tongue these beings are called simply, Gods, beings of supreme power that no mere human could ever dream to match. These beings waged war with one another in an effort to reign as the ruler of their kind, the king of the gods, but in their blood lust they wiped out so much of their kind they themselves became an endangered species, and destroyed the majority of the world in which they roamed reducing it to but a fraction of its original size. In order to both preserve their kind and to ensure that the world remained in tact they ascended to the heavens and called for peace within their ranks. This peace however began to weaken as time went on. Having waged war against one another for so long in an attempt to rule they had grown to hate one another and argued constantly.
One god, Xikdite the God Of Battle, then posed that the war then again start but Obum the Goddess Of Health and Healing had grown tired of the fighting and pleaded that he reconsider. Madis the God Of Hunting the proposed a compromise. He suggested that the battle be fought by others on the gods behalf. The gods then turned to Citeus the God Of Life. They asked him to create beings that could wage war for them to which he complied. Humans were then born into the world beneath the gods though they quickly began to suffer as the earth had been too badly damaged by the gods years of battle to sustain them. The Goddess Cildir took pity on these humans and brought them to her side where they could rest peaceful, becoming the Goddess Of The Afterlife.
Obum scolded Citeus for his cruelty though he denied any wrong doing and claimed that the others were just as guilty as he was for the state of the land. Brother Yrdros and Ytione agreed with him where the others did not and sought to resolve the issue by sacrificing themselves . Yrdros plunged himself into the earth, where the humans could roam and farm their food, and Ytione into the sky, so they could breathe and have a place for their dreams. Their sister Sudia wept so heart-fully in her anguish over her siblings death that she drowned herself and became the ocean and rivers giving the humans the water they needed to sustain themselves. So moved were they by the selflessness of these three gods both Cilder and Citeus combined their powers and gave the siblings eternal life, so long as they remained the earth, sky, and water their spirits would be free to wander through the world as they pleased.
It was now that Evdis God Of Time used his own powers to assist the restoration of the world and he moved time itself forward to a point where the humans could settle upon the world without concern. As the humans took to the earth it was then that Madis God Of Hunting discovered and announced the misdeeds of Ombus God Of Strength. Ombus had given some of the humans strength over the others to try and give himself an advantage over the other gods. It was now that the gods realised that there would have to be someone impartial to the outcome that would have to oversee the proceedings but all would have a reason for their human representative to win so the gods then asked for one of their fellow kind to denounce their claim to the throne and oversee the fairness of the battle. Stepping up to the role Sopuna threw away her claim and became Goddess Of Governance, the most respected of gods.
Sopuna created the rules to which all gods would follow and started a tournament for succession She stated that the gods will scowered the human world and chose one champion to represent them and instructed that under no circumstance that they would be allowed to give them any strength whatsoever else they forfeit their claim to the gods throne. She then ordered Evdis to push time forward and undo the damage of Ombus’ interference so that the strength he had given could spread amongst the humans by the power of Yarae Goddess Of Fertility who introduced sex to the humans and gave birth to the two genders of men and women. During the time between the spreading of strength Obem, Goddess of Health withdrew her claim and bowed out of the tournament. Citeus also bowed out of the tournament. Having created the humans he wept at the thought of having them fight.
This left nine Gods and Goddess’ to lay claim to the throne but Sopuna didn’t like those numbers. Declaring that only eight would lay claim she informed the three remaining gods that one of them would have to drop out of the tournament. These were the gods and Goddess; Naeyar God Of Messages, Vasdum God Of Tricks, and Uhna Goddess Of The Sun. They argued that they shouldn’t have to drop out but Sopuna’s word was final. In fairness she declared that the God or Goddess who had contiributed the least would be removed from the competition. Angered, Vasdum pointed out that also while he may had pointed out Ombus’ wrong doing, Madis had done nothing. Sopuna agreed and posed that he to prove himself or be disqualified.
Annoyed with Vasdum he nonetheless agreed and took to the human world to contribute to their preparation alongside the others however Vasdum remained in the land of the gods alongside the watching eyes of Sopuna to have her ear as the events unfolded.
The first to act was Uhna. Young and driven, she gave the human world light and warmth all around so that they would be warm and grow their crops better. Sopuna was impressed though Vasdum critised her and claimed that she had given them too much light and warmth. He secretly threw down flames and created fire, binding it to Uhna’s light with his magic. He blamed her for this and berated her accomplishments. While she thought of what to do next the fire burned the humans crops and left them starving. It was now that Madis chose to act and he asked Citeus for help. He begged the God Of Life to create animals for which the humans could hunt for food and taught them how to hunt these animals.
Vasdum was once again critical and complained to Sopuna that he had cheated by both asking for help and by giving the humans strength. Pressured by Sopuna Madis defended his actions. He proclaimed that while he may have been close that he had not broken the rules and that he did it for the sake of the tournament. He proclaimed that if he had not done what he had done the humans would have died of starvation and his idea saved them. He went on to proclaim that he had not given them strength at all but instead merely taught them how to use the strength they already had. Soduna agreed with him and granted him permission to enter into the tournament, thanking him for his contribution.
While this had been going on Uhna had thought of how to remedy her situation. Instead of giving the whole world her light and warmth all at once she would give it to only half the world at one time. She crafted her light into a ball of fire and threw it over the sky, then with one mighty grunt she spun the earth so that it would revolve evenly around her light in effect creating both night and day. The human rejoiced and shouted her name in joy now that their crops were growing so plentifully and Soduna gave her permission to enter into the tournament. With only one place in the tournament left both Naeyar and Vasdam began to panic. They neither had no good ideas on how to help the humans.
Unable to think of anything he merely watched the humans from afar, jealous of Uhna’s sun. As he stewed away in his anger he noticed that the humans began to fear the darkness of night and got an idea. He took to crafting a mirror and threw it in the night sky. He then went to Sopuna and proclaimed his creation of the moon. He declared that his creation was a pacifier for the humans who were afraid of the dark that Uhna’s night had left them with. Impressed with him Sopuna announced that Vasdum would take the final place within the tournament and that Naeyar had been the one to fail her tests. Vasdam was not proficient at crafting however and his moon was poorly made. It only shines properly once every month.
Distraught over his passing over Naeyar became depressed and Sopuna began to feel bad for him. She herself went down to the human world and took their biggest and strongest trees and crafted a boat out of them. She then gave this boat to Naeyar and set to him a task to keep his mind busy. He was to be the envoy to descend to the human world and collect the chosen humans on behalf of the other gods. Impressed with the gift he grew happy and gave it the name ‘The White Servent’ after its large pure sails.
With all the preparations in order the tournament is now being held and the gods are collecting their warriors. Sopuna herself has crafted the arena’s in which the warrior humans will do battle and Naeyar has set out to collect them on the White Servent. The King Of The Gods will now be selected, may the gods be ever favourable to you.
