The Cross/The Straight
Rank: "D"
Skill: TaiJutsu
Effect: A powerful, straight punch thrown with the rear hand.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Picture Determine which hand is your strong hand. Although you can throw a straight hand punch with either your left or right hand, it will be most effective if you use your strongest hand. Most right-handed fighters have a stronger right hand, while left-handed fighters have stronger left hands. Get into a basic boxing stance. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart with your knees slightly bent. If you are right-handed, your left shoulder should be pointed toward the other fighter and your right shoulder should be back. The opposite is true if you are left-handed. Keep both hands up. They should hover just under the chin, with your forearms in front of your body. This will protect you from the opponent's punches. Begin the straight hand punch from the foot. Push off your back foot and pivot toward your opponent, twisting your foot, leg, torso and shoulders. Concentrate on bringing power up from your leg, hips, trunk and shoulders and channeling it into your fist as you twist your body. If you don't pivot your body, your punch will be much weaker than if you use the correct form. Aim for the other fighter's face. Punch out in a straight line and extend the arm out all the way. At the point of impact, your feet and body should be facing the other fighter. Snap your hand back to your chin as you twist your body back to the beginning position. Remember to keep your left hand up throughout the punch so you have a guard up to protect you from a counterpunch.
Limit: Must learn in a gym that teaches Bokushingu (Boxing), Must know Upright Stance or Semi-Crouch
"Sounds good to me, you know just let me know when you're ready." He said as he looked around the gym for a spare pair of padded gloves to use, along with some head gear; which would be nice for not getting too hurt. Tetsu quickly decided he would shadow box until he discovered the gloves themselves somewhere around the gym. Getting into his orthodox boxer's stance, Tetsu prepared to practice with his other arm while his eyes scanned the room for the gloves as he quickly watched one of the fighters over at the heavy bag training. He payed close attention to how the fellow moved, with such pinpoint jabs. Suddenly he threw his right in a heavy cross like punch that caused the bag to recoil a little bit. "shoot..." Tetsu said quietly as he quickly too his arm and slowly followed the motion with his right arm. He watched the fellow draw his power from the spring in his legs and feet, and from his shoulder. He sometimes even took a step forward to seemingly add more power to the hit. Tetsu quickly exhaled with relief as he quickly extended his right arm forward to match the motion. He felt the air break around his punch as he twisted his hips and shoulder with the punch, using his legs to extend it forward while keeping his balance.
"Ah, there some are." He said as he slowly walked over to the pair that had been hanging on the wall. When he got there, Tetsu quickly switched his mind set once again to practicing the motions. Deciding that fast combo understanding would help him out in understanding how to properly use this power hit he had just learned to utilize, Tetsu quickly threw a jab, and responded with a straight punch right afterwards as the jab returned to it's starting position. The one-two punch combo was fairly basic; however it utilized the basic punch understanding and would help him understand when to start using the straight punch. Tetsu felt a boost in his confidence as he quickly took the gloves from their hanger and laced himself up, using his teeth to finish the job when he got the first glove on. He then placed some head gear on his head as well as he gently walked back over to the ring. Quickly preforming the one-two combo on a shadow boxing opponent, Tetsu tried his best to feel comfortable with the straight punch before going into the ring; however his nerves were on edge.
Climbing up under the ropes as he prepared to do whatever it was that the pair wanted to do, Tetsu quickly shadow boxed again using a swift jab followed by a straight, just to get an affirming feel for the blow. "I'm ready when you all are, just let me know what you want to do." Tetsu said as he got into his orthodox boxer's stance once again and prepared himself for whatever would come next.
