Botany (Underworld)
Rank: "E"
Skill: Skill
Effect: A skill that allows the user to identify plants.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: A character with this skill has a basic knowledge of plants and how they grow. They know how to tell various species of plants apart and under what conditions each type of plant grows best. Most of the time they can tell poisonous plants from non-poisonous plants. User must choose a specific Region each time they go up this Skill. A successful Botany Skill check provides knowledge of plants, while failure indicates the character does not know or cannot recall anything about that plant. Each Skill level allows the user knowledge of each Herb category (Example: Novice can identify Common Herbs, Master can identify Nearly Impossible Herbs) within a region. Here is some Difficulty Examples.
Trivial - Plant is in bloom
Easy - Plant is whole
Average - Identify plant fruit, leaves, tubers or seeds
Difficult - Parts of plant in a mixture or food
Very Difficult - Identify plant from charred remains
Each time learned user gets 5 die roll to increase the skill.

Tetsu had decided to take some time to visit some of the greenhouses throughout the leaf village, to get the feeling for how plants lived and in fact were cultivated eventually. Looking at the underworld plants, Tetsu began to study the soil conditions that were required for the low-light loving plants enjoyed. The room itself was dark and damp, similar to that of how a cave would be. Tetsu looked at some of the few plants that he could remember from his time with the Kasuta, the Cave star (white) and the Cave Star (blue) pipe weeds that the Kasuta clan used to increase their ability to perform universal ninjutsu, and simply relaxed the user in general. The white Cave Star plant was the more common of the two, and thus would be the more easily identifiable, seeing as it looked very similar to the blue, except for the slight blue tint. Otherwise, the plant’s structure and appearance were very similar. This would make them fairly hard to distinguish to the average onlooker; however, Tetsu was interested in learning how to acquire the fairly rare plant, and recognize it among the white Cave Star plants.
Tetsu slowly approached the flowering bed that they were growing in within the darkness of the Greenhouse’s imitation of a cave for the plants to grow in. Tetsu leaned in close to the two star like plants, and noticed how similar the two plants appeared, even with their root structures. Taking his finger and slightly running it through the soil, he checked each condition of the soil so that he could see if there was any subtle differences. To the naked eye, Tetsu couldn’t see any differences in soil content that lead him to believe that there was any differences that allowed the blue cave star to grow opposed to the white. They were exactly the same, except for the plant themselves as far as Tetsu could tell. Picking up one of the spades from the wooden table to his side, he quickly put it into the soil so that he could dig out a sample of the soil and test the PH of each soil sample to see if there was any difference in acidity, or even in salinity.
