Character Depth

Personality:

Freedom was a gift, therefor I shall always keep it.
Decimus despite the fact he was forced to take the ritual to became one of the Hoshigaki had a relative free youth. He grew up at the Kaishin clan for the first 10 years of his life before moving to Yu no Kuni. After living a somewhat free life in a village in Yu no Kuni they moved to Hi no Kuni. After Hi no Kuni they moved to Kusa no Kuni which is where Decimus finally entered the ninja academy. Due to the travelling and his somewhat free spirited parents, Decimus became a free spirit himself and this is something he treasures above everything else. On top of this he has no strong feeling towards good or evil due to the fact he traveled and lived in different places.

Though a darkness shall always rest within me.
The reason why they moved from Yu no Hi to Hi no Kuni is something Decimus shall never forget. It is a darkness that always shall stay with him. It is of course the same reason why only his mother who came from the Kaishin clan remained and his father had perished. They were not welcome and people did not even try to hide this. They were so unwelcome it eventually caused a riot between Decimus his family and the village. Decimus fled with his mom out of the country and somehow landed in Hi no Kuni. His father was supposed to follow them but he never came. Becasue of this Decimus started studying anatomy to a much greater extend to allow him to fend people off by making sure his attacks would hit where it would hit. Partially because of this Decimus has minor trust issues and a dislike to people from Yu no Kuni.

I shall help those who help me.
However after rain comes sunshine and this applied especially to Decimus. After arriving in Hi no Kuni they were helped a lot. This softened the blow and allowed Decimus to open up to those who helped him to return the favor. Those who offer an helping hand or offer a good reward can expect Decimus to help them out. Though this come with the limitation that it will not limit his freedom which he values more.However generally speaking most requests do not limit his freedom which means he will do them without a hassle.

No one but me tells me what I need to do or not do.
Decimus dislikes people who order him around and tell him what he needs to do or not do. Fulfilling a request or giving a helping hand is not much of a problem but when somebody starts ordering Decimus around and telling him what to do to the dot will cause Decimus to ignore it and form his own plan. This is a trait that sometimes make it hard for people to work together with people that like to take the lead and order people around.

Unless of course it is convenient.
However sometimes it is convenient to follow orders and respect the law. If it means getting rewarded or advance oneself Decimus is able to give up his freedom temporary and allow himself to work together with those that hold law above freedom. It is only then Decimus shall abide and follow orders but the end goal must always mean advancement or more freedom. This freedom is not limited to his own freedom but the freedom of everyone around him as well.

But above all once again I am free and enjoy what the world has to offer.
Nothing more pleases Decimus than being able to go somewhere for no reason and relax. Be it just walking down the streets or enjoying some time by a river or lake, Decimus likes to relax in his downtime when he is not training, sleeping or enjoying drinks in a pub. Disturbing Decimus in those moments tend to anger him though as you are robbing him from his moment of pleasure and freedom.

Therefor my goal shall always be the same.
Decimus his goal in life is to strife for freedom for himself but also those around him. He shall grow so he can take down anyone who stands in his way to reach this very goal. However that means down the line there will be people that are stronger than he is right now. Therefor Decimus needs to train so that when he faces them he stands a chance, hopefully.

Appearance:

Copper shark skin
Decimus when he took the ritual to become what he is nowadays involved a copper shark. This gave Decimus the skin of a copper shark meaning his skin is devided between a white part and a copper brown part. His shin, mouth and the tip of his nose are white. Part of his neck on front is white and most of chest is white. The rest of his body shows the copper drawn skin. The color tone in his hair is slightly darker than his brown skin.

Odd looks
To further complement his odd looks Decimus also has complete heterochromia iridus. This means one of his eye colors is different from the other. His right eye is a light blue while his left eye is a darker brown. In general the expression they show is the expression of wanderlust. Decimus his face has a a heart shaped face and has medium length hair. In general he doesn't really style his hair in anyway making it a little messy. All he cares about is being able to see ahead of himself.

Body build
Decimus has a muscular build but is slightly overweight resulting him not always looking as muscular as he actually is. In general he stands firm and confident giving off a lot of self confidence. He does have some scars on his body and here and there bruises are visible on his body either due to missions or training that ended badly. But often the scars and bruises are hidden beneath clothing making it hard to see.

Casual outfit
Decimus in general has two outfits he is commonly found walking around in. One of them i his casual outfit the other is his combat outfit. His casual outfit consists of dark blue jeans, with a white T-shirt, some kind of vest often all kinds of different colors depending on his mood and just regular black shoes. Nothing too fancy but comfy and relaxing to Decimus. While walking around in his casual clothing he tends to put his ninja head band into his pocket.

Combat outfit
His combat outfit generally doesn't even look like his regular clothing at all. He tends to walk around in camouflage pants, dark brown shoes, dark green T-shirt and a brown vest. On top of this he wears a belt with all kinds of utility pouches stocked with weapons. On his left he also holds the sheath of his rapier with the rapier inside. On top of his vest he wears an additional tactical vest with all kinds of pouches as well on to top it off Decimus carries around an assault pack.

Background:

Decimus is born out of a kaishin member mother and a hoshigaki member father. He is born in Mizo no Kuni omewhere in a cottage at the coast.He lived there for a few years with his parents untill he was deemed old enough to undertake the Same no Gishiki. His father gathered up the needed ingredients including a fresh copper shark. His father also took the ritual using a copper shark so this way father and son would be the same. The ritual was prepared and Decimus was set in place to carry out the instructions the shark priest would give him. Upon completion of the instructions and after the dragon seal was completed Decimus was thrown into a illusionary world.

In this world Decimus had one of his toughest fights ever. His opponent was himself as he would become when he wakes up again. However he had many more abilities than Decimus had right now. Giving him a huge disadvantage, Decimus had no choice but to grind his teeth and face the challenge ahead. It is during this fight Decimus realized he wanted to be free. The fight was rather one sided for the longest time but eventually Decimus his opponent would start showing weaknesses and honestly after wearing his opponent down it became clear this was a fight of stamina and chakra management more than anything else. Decimus only had very few techniques up his sleeves which he had to use to the fullest potential. Which he did and eventually due to the carelessness of his opponent he succeeded the ritual.

After waking up Decimus noticed his skin changed. He also felt different. He felt stronger and he felt like he had more chakra. This was an amazing feeling to him but the fight is something that always stuck to him as it was hard and scary. After the ritual was complete everything was cleaned up and Decimus was allowed to rest. A few days after they moved to the Kaishin clan where he would live till after Decimus turns 10 years old.

During his time in the Kaishin clan, he learned all kinds of ice release abilities and techniques. He learned to create water and ice, but also how to harden ice. This eventually lead him to learning how to shoot ice needles and use his ice to travel faster. Last not least he learned how to make demonic ice clones which were much stronger versus regular ice clones. Decimus enjoyed his time at the Kaishin clan as it was a peaceful time with a lot of freedom. He made some great friends with the other kids over there but eventually his parents wanted to move. They wanted to explore the world and Decimus had to go along with them.

Decimus and his parents moved to Yu no Kuni. A country in general filled with people with bloodlines which would mean they would blend in quite well. However faith had a different idea with them and pulled a bad joke on them. Somehow they ended up moving to one of the very few settlements dominated by non-blood limits and due to Decimus his odd looks they did not bend in at all. The people around them did not try to hide their fears and started to grow more and more violent towards Decimus and his family. This became worse and worse until the people of the village formed a mob to cause a riot to get them out or killed in the process of kicking them out.

It was a very bloody and scary day for Decimus who at that time was just 11 years old. His father stayed behind to delay the mob while Decimus and his mother ran away. His father used all kinds of hoshigaki techniques to fight the mob taking down some people but eventually falling himself. Decimus and his mother ran south towards Hi no Kuni. There they were received with open arms to relief the harsh blow they got in Yu no Kuni. Their father never was heard of again and after a year it was confirmed he had died trying to defend his family. Decimus and his mother lived a rather peaceful life in Hi no Kuni but they felt like they were out of place and in general wanted to move towards the next country to live in. Despite the past events Decimus and his mother still had the wanderlust they had when they left Mizo no Kuni.

After saying their goodbyes and saying thanks for the help they got, Decimus and his mother moved to Kusa no Kuni. They arrived on the very day Decimus turned 13 years old. They lived in a village for about a year before the ninja's would notice Decimus his talents for NinJutsu and TaiJutsu. Because of this they were invited to Kusagakure and Decimus his curiosity for becoming a ninja was awoken. It would mean he could become stronger and be sent on missions all over the world. To him it was a win win situation and his mother wanted to settle down as she was enjoying her stay in Kusa no Kuni.

When Decimus and his mother moved to Kusagakure, he also started to pick up anatomy and animal lore. This was paired with his training to become a Genin. During his training he also came in contact with rapier fighting and the celestial gates. However he was only taught the basics and his hoshigaki abilities and kaishin abilities got slightly enhanced. For his graduation he had to show off his strongest damaging jutsu. Due to his training at the Kaishin clan and training in Kusagakure he was capable of doing Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death jutsu which caused him to graduate with flying colors.

Decimus however graduated at a later age than other genins. He graduated at the age of 16 due to his later entrance. But this did not bother himas he now was a full fledged ninja. This is where he started to train more and more while exploring the world. Decimus spent a lot of time studying as well to help him increase his skills but also strengthen his abilities to as far as he could. He was able to push his demonic ice clones up to 5 clones at the same time and allowing them to explode into needles. He became better at creating water and ice while also making his ice much stronger.

Last not least he spent time enhancing his rapier fighting and his Hoshigaki abilities. He learned more stances in the rapier while also learning how to breath underwater and move underwater like he would move above water. He also learned how to use the cartilage underneath his skin to soften blows from melee strikes allowing him to take on more powerful opponents. He also was able to use his amazing sight to his advantage while enhancing his nose as well. Allowing him to more easily track people especially those that have been wounded by him.

Decimus spent in total 4 years to get ready and finishing his training. He did some missions to gather up money to get his equipment ready for the most part and now stands ready to face the world to reach his goal of becoming strong enough to be free and crush those who shall deny his freedom.

Description: A Light Weapon. These weapons do +1 Amour Points of Damage. The Range Increment of this weapon is 5 meters. A caltrop is a 4-pronged iron spike crafted so that one prong faces up no matter how the caltrop comes to rest. The user scatters caltrops on the ground in the hope that the opponent steps on them or at least forced to slow down to avoid them. 1 slot of caltrops cover an area 2 meter squared. Each time a creature moves into an area covered by caltrops or spends a round fighting while standing in an area, they may step on one. If the opponent steps on a caltrop the Caltrop deals 1 Armour Points of Damage, and the opponent's movements is reduced by 1/2 because its foot is wounded. Each round, the subject may use a full-round movement to attempt an attempt to break free with a Fortitude Save. The user targets one of their ice release creations when performing the handseals for this technique. Upon activation, the ice creation they targeted will shatter into ice shards. If the creation was made of snow, the snow will instead harden and compress into a hail of ice shards. A creation broken by this technique will explode, sending the shards out to deal 12 Armour Points per class level of half cold damage and half piercing damage. If this technique is used on ice creations that were acting as terrain, the terrain will be treated as mostly difficult terrain for 10 rounds unless the leftover shards are somehow cleared away.

The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 2 meters. A creature 2 meters away has concealment (20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can't use sight to locate the target). In addition, the sharp ice particles tear the skin of those moving through the area, causing 6 Armour Points of damage per round, half of which is cold damage. A strong wind (21+ mph) disperses the fog in 4 rounds; a severe wind (31+ mph) disperses the fog in 1 round. Dispersing the fog in this manner, however, causes damage to those within its area as the icy shards whip past. A strong wind causes 6 points of damage per round (half cold); a severe wind causes 12 points of damage (half cold).

Description: The shield is capable of withstanding considerably strong attacks and projectiles, and can be hardened to a point where it's stronger than many creations. The shield is so strong that it has earned the name "Absolute Defense" (絶対防御, Zettai Bōgyo). The sand will react regardless of the user's will, even protecting them from self-inflicted injuries. User may also completely surround them in the shield to further increase the defensive capabilities. Strength and Speed of Technique depends on the rank of the Technique.
"B" Rank - Capable of stopping 8 movements. Capable of stopping "C" Rank techniques.
"A" Rank - Capable of stopping 10 movements. Capable of stopping "B" Rank techniques.

Drawback: For D Ranks The Clones that are created are basically useless, only used as a distraction, only used to stand/move and can not be used to attack. One meter of sand is needed per clone.
Description: If the user has an abundant amount of sand along the ground the user is capable of focusing their chakra along the sand to where they are capable of controlling the sand's structure to create a vast amount of clones if capable. When first learned the user is capable of creating up to five Clones, this is for the D Rank Version. If the user learns the C Rank version they are capable of creating ten clones. At C rank the clones are capable of attacking and using sand techniques. The C rank of this may be learned an additional four times to create a maximum of thirty clones.

Description: A simple technique that contracts the sand using the user's chakra to the point where it solidifies to a hard state. Doing so the user is then capable of hurling the very objects towards the target. When learned the user is capable of creating an abundance amount of shurikens. The user may create fifteen of these creations. The user may learn this technique at most twice to create thirty shuriken.

Daisan no Me (The Third Eye)

Drawback: The opponents lighting techniques have a chance of being amplified if the user stands to close to the rods, thus causing significantly more damage to the user of the rods. The techniques can be amplified by as much as one full rank depending on how many of them (as more than one are created) the user is within one meter of.
Description: Using this technique one can flood a field with ten miniature lighting rods, approximately five inches high, made of sand that attract lightning-charged chakra. The amount of rods one can produce is increased by five with each rank. The field cannot be wider than 10 meters for each character rank, spacing is entirely up to the user. Ninjutsu masters can keep the rods active for five posts with a resting period of two posts, ninjutsu specialists can keep the rods active for three posts with a cool down period of three posts, ninjutsu non-specialists can keep the rods working for one post with a cool down period of four posts. Effect: Allows the user the ability to perform water based techniques as if their chakra cost was reduced by one rank.
Special: Passive, automatically gained when the user obtains 500 TP within the Hoshigaki Clan.
Drawback: Even though the chakra cost has been reduced, the cost of movements and the time spent performing the techniques remain the same. Defensive techniques that require the user to expend the same amount of chakra in order to block a technique are unaffected by this mastery.
Description: There are few clans out there that can rival the Hoshigaki when it comes to their use of Water-based Ninjutsu. Because of their constant use, individuals of the clan have developed a keen sense of how much chakra is truly necessary to perform the technique and as such may perform water-based ninjutsu as if the chakra cost of the technique were actually one rank lower than the technique's actual cost. However, just because the user can perform the technique for less of a cost doesn't mean that it takes any less time to perform them.
Limit: Requires 500 TP within the Hoshigaki Clan.

Rituals and techniques[/b]
Same no Gishiki (Ritual of the Shark) [free technique 1]
Rank: “C” Rank
Effects: Changes the user’s appearance to give them blue skin, gill-like appendages, and access to the ritual’s techniques.
Special: Preparing the Ritual- First, the user must obtain the body of a full-grown shark. The body must be fresh, not more than 3 days IC old. The type of the shark gained will determine the manner in which the user’s facial and bodily features will change. Then, the user must obtain 50 shark incisors, which cannot come from the shark to be used in the ritual. After that, the user must purchase a large bottle of ink from a shop. The user then pricks their finger and adds their blood to the ink. With that done, the user has completed all the preparations for the ritual and must then find a Same Saishi (Shark Priest) to perform the ritual.
Description: Once all the preparations for the ritual have been completed, the user will be asked to sit down by the Same Saishi. The man will then use the ink that has been prepared for him and draw a circle around the person that is ten meters in diameter. The kanji for the four seasons is written at the quarter marks for each circle, with summer at the top (behind the user), spring to the right, winter at the bottom (in front of the user), and autumn on the left. These directions are symbolic, as it represents a turning away from Fire (Summer) and embracing the Water (Winter). From there, the user’s shark is placed directly in front of where they sit, and the user will place the shark incisors in a circle around him. The user is then asked to meditate for one turn, getting lost into a trance. The Same Saishi then performs the handseals of “Rat, Rabbit, Dog, Monkey, Tiger, Snake, Dragon”. Upon the completion of the Dragon seal, the ink circle around the user will burst forth in radiant blue light, and the user will be thrown into an illusionary world.

In this world, they will enter an ocean battleground, where the opponent will be themselves. The difference will be that the person will be fighting themselves as they will become when the ritual is complete, thus they have the shark-like appearance. This self is capable of using any technique that the user has plus any technique from the Clan’s arsenal. This other self is roleplayed by either Lash or a staff member designated by Head Staff if he is not around. Any deathblows landed by the user will simply cause the Shark Self to regenerate. This fight will continue until the person has gained 90 TP. At that point, the user will fall down, exhausted, and a merging of the two aspects will occur. While this is happening within the mind, outside the body of the person and the shark begin to glow a bright blue. When the merging is over, the user will awaken to find that they have gained the qualities of the shark, which has since disappeared. They have less teeth, but are larger and sharper, much more pointed. Their skin tone takes on a blueish tint, and their body expands to gain more muscle.
Drawback: Once the Ritual is gained, the user cannot use or learn techniques from the Fire Release (Katon no Jutsu), Lightning Release (Raiton no Jutsu), or the the Wind Release (Fuuton no Jutsu) (Wind Release (Fuuton no Jutsu) technique for the Hyouton no Jutsu (Ice Release Skill) techniques but may not progress further). This ritual’s strength is such that it takes up all three of the user’s Ritual capabilities. If the user is gaining the ritual after character creation, then it costs 90 TP no matter what rank the user is. This is an increase of price than a regular “C” Rank and meant to be this way, as it represents the filling up of all three ritual spots. Counts as three of the user's starting techniques if taken at character creation.
Placement Requirements: Must have the Water Release (Suiton no Jutsu). Must complete all the required ritual steps. Must be a member of the Hoshigaki Clan.
Cost: The cost of the ritual is free if the user gathers all the materials necessary for the ritual. Specific portions of the ritual must be bought, but the cost of those items is listed above and is not included in this Cost section.

Same no Seirei (Spirit of the Shark) [free technique 2]

Description: One of the two Same no Isei, or Powers of the Shark, the Same no Seirei (Spirit of the Shark) allows the user to obtain a dramatically larger chakra pool than they would normally have. The amount that the chakra pool increases is dependent upon the user’s specialties and their Difficulty Class.

Effect: Focuses chakra into the user's cartilage body, using it to dampen the impact of Taijutsu-based attacks.

Description: The user's body, which has been altered by the Same no Gishiki, has gained a thin layer of cartilage underneath the user's blueish skin. The user, then, will learn how to use that cartilage in combination with their chakra in order to lessen the impact of melee strikes against them. When the user performs their handseals, channeling chakra into the thin layer underneath the skin, the cartilage there begins to act like a sponge, ready to cushion damage. When the user is hit, the sponge-like manner of the cartilage absorbs a portion of the damage, reducing the damage done to the user significantly.
When the user is hit by a "D" Rank attack, the damage is reduced by 40%.
When the user is hit by a "C" Rank attack, the damage is reduced by 30%.
When the user is hit by a "B" Rank attack, the damage is reduced by 20%.
When the user is hit by a "A" Rank attack, the damage is reduced by 10%.

Description: The Hoshigaki Clan are very much used to fighting underwater; their whole fighting style is based upon flooding the field and then forcing the opponent to fight underwater, where the user will have the advantage. Because of their constant fighting underwater, they've learned how to move and manipulate their own bodies while submerged, making them terribly difficult opponents to match when they're in their element. This ability, once learned, allows the user to fight with grace and ease underwater, to the very point that it seems like they were fighting naturally above it.
Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.

Kowai Shiryoku (Frightening Eyesight)

Effect: Allows the user to have naturally enhanced eyesight in both the day and the night.
Special: Passive ability that is always active.
Drawback: As with all forms of enhanced senses, they are also more susceptible to their perspective weaknesses.
Description: Sharks have amazing eyesight. Since they often swim the depths of the ocean, where it is dark and what little light that comes through the water is distorted, their ability to perceive minor changes is particularly excellent. Members of the clan learn to mimic these enhanced perceptions, able to peer through the darkest of night as if it were noon and the ability to notice subtle changes like the fluttering of a specific leaf in the wind.

Akuarungu (Aqualung)

Effect: Allows the user the capability of switching between the use of gills and lungs.

Description: Normally, the Hoshigaki's body is set to breath through the lungs, which takes in oxygen from the air and then allows the user to exhale. However, the Hoshigaki's body has a secondary set of breathing tools- gills. By activating this technique, the user becomes capable of switching the manner in which their brain commands the body, moving to use the gills instead of the lungs. In this manner, it is impossible for the Hoshigaki to drown as they are now using gills to breath. To cancel the technique, the user must simply perform the Tiger handseal, ending the effect and transitioning back to the use of the lungs.

Chi Kaori (Blood Scent)

Effect: Allows the user to use their sense of smell to hunt down opponents who have been injured.
Special: The user must cut the opponent and allow them to bleed.
Drawback: Cannot tell differing scents apart.
Description: After injuring an opponent, the Hoshigaki will generally try to force an underwater fight by flooding the field or trapping someone with some other water-based techniques. However, that is not necessary, it just makes the hunt easier. The user is then capable of using their sense of smell to track the scent of the blood of the opponent, making it much more difficult to hide from them.

Suiton: Suibun Shuuko no Jutsu (Water Release: Moisture Condensing Technique)

Effect: Allows the user to condense water within the atmosphere for use in Water-based techniques.
Special: The user adds "Tiger" to the end of every technique they wish to use this in association with.
Drawback: The water that is drawn from this attack comes from the atmosphere itself. Unlike the Oxyhydro Conversion, which is the combining of molecules in order to create water, this attack pulls the actual moisture out of the air and condenses it. Because of that, the ability is less effective in dry areas, sometimes not allowing enough water to be drawn for higher-level techniques.
Description: A supplementary Ninjutsu ability that is combined with other Suiton (Water Release) abilities, the user will focus chakra into the atmosphere, pulling the moisture out of the air and condensing it into forming an attack. The user must have the corresponding level of this technique in order to use it for a technique. This means that in order to use this ability for "D" Rank Suiton techniques, the user must have the "D" Rank of this technique. If the user wishes to perform "S" Rank Suiton techniques with this ability, they must have the "S" Rank of this ability. Since the technique is simply condensing the moisture in the atmosphere instead of creating the water, this technique is much more chakra efficient than Oxyhydro Conversion.
