Zuruel entered the grasslands once more. Although he had already found a couple Saddilia trees, none could be harvested. At least not this soon. With this in mind, he set off into the distance towards the centre of the area. Having done countless hours of research and having seen the tree in person, Zuruel knew exactly what he was looking for. With a smirk, he passed by a couple of the smaller trees without even giving them a glance. He only planned on stopping himself the moment a much taller tree appeared.

The lack of luck suggested to Zuruel that perhaps he wasn’t in the correct location. After thinking about this some more, he decided to move his search location more towards the east, which is where the sun rose. On the way there, he began to notice healthier trees. Most likely due to the fact that there weren’t any hills or other natural formations blocking the sunlight. With a focused mind, his eyes glanced between all these trees in hopes of finding the fabled Saddilia tree.

As Zuruel headed towards the east, instantly, the colours in the area began to change. The grass was green, leaves stronger with a more veiny appearance and lastly, the flowers were much more vibrant. He understood now that healthy soil was only one piece of the equation. As he searched through all the trees in this area, he began to understand that as important as healthy and nutrient dense soil was, searching through this area with better sunlight was most likely the key to finding the Saddilia tree.

Zuruel was now in the eastern-most part of the grasslands. As he glanced around, he spotted trees in immaculate shape and condition. Likely, this was a testament to the power of sunlight. He began searching in-between every leaf and branch. Flowers bloomed left and right in this location. Trees, however, seemed to be lacking in flowers. Although there were plenty of fruit, there were no nuts or flowers on the branches. He began to wonder if he had made a mistake by coming here.

Zuruel searched every nook and cranny of the grasslands for a tree that matched his description. Plenty of trees seemed to have a reddish bark, however, most of these were bearing fruit and not the fabled Saddilia nuts. He glanced around some more. The leaves in this area were also mostly green. Probably to make best use of the sunlight. “Waste of time.” He grimaced. Being unable to find even a common Oak tree meant that this location wasn’t the best. He decided to move on to somewhere else.

This time, Zuruel decided to head towards the west – the opposite direction to before. If where the sun rose created trees that had enough energy to store their nutrients in fruit, then he hoped that the trees where the sun set would perhaps have enough extra bit of sunshine each day to create nuts. It was a long shot, but Zuruel set off anyway in search for the Saddilia tree. A long journey was ahead of him, but his hopes were high. It had to be there.

As Zuruel headed towards the west, the amount of healthy trees begun to decrease. They were still tall and strong, however, just not as well developed as the ones in the east. There wasn’t much point in hunting for the Saddilia during these few hours as the trees begun to become a lot shorter due to the hills blocking the sunlight. Not wanting to leave a stone unturned, however, Zuruel kept his focus. If anything matching the description turned up, he analysed it closely.

Upon reaching the west region of the grasslands, Zuruel immediately noticed a positive difference in the trees in the area. While they were much shorter than earlier, quite a few still fit the description of being over twenty meters tall. Immediately, Zuruel set to work with his search. Although there were a lack of flowers on the ground-level, quite a few grew on the tree branches. This made them much easier to spot and gave the assassin somewhat of an advantage for his search.

As Zuruel searched this part of the grasslands, he couldn’t help but smile. Everything was much brighter and vibrant in the other locations. As his eyes glanced between each tree, however, he picked up on the fact that the tree trunks were much darker here. This made it much easier for Zuruel to spot trees with dark red trunks, which seemed to be in abundance in this location. With a smile, he checked each and every one with high hopes of at least one of them being a Saddilia tree.

Initially, Zuruel’s search appeared to be a disaster. While there were plenty of trees with dark red trunks in this location, very few possessed blue leaves. Instead, they mostly appeared to be yellows, greens and reds. Hissing to himself, Zuruel went deeper into the grasslands where he could spot that the soil was beginning to look much healthier. Once here, his eyes darted from tree to tree. Carefully, he analysed each one as he attempted to find the elusive Saddilia tree. He sensed that it was close.

“Is this it!?” Zuruel gasped to himself in excitement as he spotted a tree in the distance. As he dashed towards it, he noticed a dark red trunk, vibrant blue leaves and a thick structure that looked as if it belonged to a healthy tree. However, most important of all, the tree possessed nuts. With a sly grin, Zuruel reached for the nuts slowly before stopping himself moments before touching one of them. The tree lacked flowers. He cursed at his luck as he punched one of the nuts, the act of which causing it to crumble. He decided to spare the tree and keep searching. He felt as if he was finally close despite this set back. The real nuts had to be somewhere around here.

Having no luck in this particular location, Zuruel decided to make his way down a natural pathway of stones and leafy plants. As he trekked through this new location, Zuruel instantly noticed a change in the scenery. The most striking difference being the fact that the trees were getting much shorter. “Damn it.” The assassin scoffed as he glanced around. The mountain in the distance appeared to be blocking the sunlight, which likely meant that tall trees couldn’t survive further down this location. Having no business there, Zuruel made a U-turn and headed down the opposite direction.

As he walked down this new location, Zuruel’s heightened sense of smell began to pick up on something. “Flowers…” He thought to himself as his nostrils identified the pollens from the flowers. Smiling to himself, he made a dash for the direction of the scent. He had no idea if this was coming from a Saddilia tree’s flowers, but at the very least, he knew that the presence of flowers meant that the area was getting plenty of sunlight and had healthy soil, which of course are the two major requirements for a Saddilia tree to thrive in.

In this new location, Zuruel’s nostrils immediately flared as he was hit with a bombardment of sweet scents. “So many flowers…” He thought to himself as his eyes scanned the area. In every small patch of grass was at least a couple flowers that ranged from different colours such as blue, red and yellow. None, however, were white or growing on a tree. With this meaning that the location was a dud, Zuruel decided to instead follow his nose somewhere into the distance where he sensed something enticing waiting for him.

While this new location did have less flowers, Zuruel was pleased to find the flowery scents wafting in from a much higher angle than before. Likely, this meant that he was sniffing flowers growing on trees. With a sly grin, his eyes darted from side to side as he slowly walked through the area. He knew what he was looking for, white flowers that grew in clusters around the branches. If Zuruel spotted this, he would stop and inspect the tree closer. In the meantime though, he could do little else other than search.

After coming up with nothing, Zuruel decided that it would be best to change his search strategy. Since there was an abundance of flowers in the grasslands, he decided to mentally block out this scent and instead focus on a lingering earthy scent in the air. Having collected plenty of Saddilia nut doses not too long ago, Zuruel’s senses were attuned to its scent. He knew that if he followed the smell of earthiness, he would eventually find the tree. With this in mind, he set off towards the best direction he could judge.

As the waft of earthy scents filled his lungs, Zuruel smiled. It reminded him of the Saddilia tree’s nuts. He searched high and low for them whilst not ruling out any possibilities. If even one nut had fallen to the ground or been carried here by wild animals, then he wanted to find it by searching through the tall grass. “Must keep searching…” He thought to himself as he realised that this area had no nuts. Likely, the earthy scent was due to a tiny river in the distance mixing with the soil. He groaned and kept searching.

Not wanting to miss the opportunity, Zuruel headed over to the river to refill his water bottle. As he did so, he realised that the grass closer to the river seemed to have a better texture and more vibrant colour than the grass further away. If the river was possibly supplying endless nutrients to the soil around it, then he knew that this was a good opportunity to search for the tree. Putting his water container away, he searched up and down the area whilst following the river downstream. Likely, there were going to be some really strong and healthy plants around this area.

As Zuruel searched, he found quite a few healthy-looking trees that grew to what looked like impressive heights of over twenty meters in length. None, however, fit his description. While there were dark brown and even orangey trunks, none were dark red in colour. Most didn’t even possess the correct texture or thickness of a Saddilia tree bark. With a hiss, Zuruel decided to continue following the river downstream. He wondered if it ended in a lake surrounded by a foresty area.
