[Hunter Heritage Trait: +1 per die roll]
[0/10]
Tracking
Rank: "D"
Skill: Skill
Effect: Characters use this skill to follow the trail of animals and other persons.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Can be learned by an Animal. Tracking means the user found a trail if they gain the check, while failure means they did not. If user fails this initial skill check, they simply cannot find that particular trail. After finding a trail, further checks may be necessary depending on the situation. Darkness, falling rain/snow, a dust storm, moving from one terrain to another (such as from sand to rock), one trail splitting into 2 or crossing water are examples why a user might need another Tracking check. Look in Task Skills thread found in the Skills and Traits Index for more information. Each time learned user gets 5 die roll to increase the skill.
Limit: ---

[Training]
The footprints in the rock dust, what kind were those, who had made them? She looked away from the glowing plants on the walls and ceiling, having no idea exactly how to identify them, and instead focused on something that she could do, which was track whatever it was that was down here in the darkness. She bent down close to the tracks, straining her eyes to try and make out if they were man or beast, examining them with the scrutiny a scientist would examine a new molecule or substance discovered. From her studies, she determined that the size and shape were that of a humanoid creature, two legged from the look of it, and wearing some kind of boot or shoe.
The size of the print was that of something closer to her own height, maybe a little bit taller, but not by much. It was light as well, maybe as light as she was, leading her to believe that it was either female, or perhaps a very skinny male that had not quite hit his growth spurt. She studied the area between this print and the next, gauging the spacing in order to possibly get a more accurate account for height. With certainty, she was sure that whatever this was, it was close to her own height and traveling lightly, if with anything at all. Perhaps it was a citizen of some underground society? People from Tsuchi no Kuni? They were the most likely to be living underground. Then again, this land was rather poisonous, so it could be people who enjoy being underground to escape that, or it could be worse than that all together. She had no way of knowing.
There was only one way to find out and that was to find whatever it was that made these tracks, then observe him or her, just to see what she was dealing with. Tracking in the phosphorescent green light of the strange plants that lived down here was not easy, not in the least, and she found herself losing track of the tracks over and over. Several times she would have to double back to a spot where she knew the track to be, get her nose to the ground, and then determine exactly which where these tracks were. It wasn’t that she could not go in a straight line, as the bridge had no branches, but she did not want to lose the tracks on the other side and have to search all over for them yet again.
After what seemed like an eternity, the bridge finally ended in another bit of chamber, the way becoming ways, as several opening were presented before her. Checking her tracks yet again, she realized that there was quite a bit of foot traffic in this area, nearly losing sight of her own goal. Various tracks that looked like they could have been made by wheels, but too curved, and different sized boots and paw prints were all over. Occasionally she found the tracks of something that had claws and apparently dragged its belly on the ground while it walked. Just what the hell is down here? Finally she was able to pick out the tracks that she was following, no easy task to say the least, and she began to follow them again. They lead into a cave off to the right and the ground began to slope again, leading her down deeper into the earth once more, toward a fate she could not even begin to imagine.
