Shiki listened with minor trepadation as the ancor slowly made its decent down into the bottom of the bay. Shiki looked around and at the edge of the horizon saw that the sun was getting ready to rise. There was just a faint glow of light that was visable at the edge of the horizon. The sky above it was turning a warm silver as Shiki suddenly felt a twinge of anticipation. Most of these monster hunting fights were dangerous. This could be his last sunrise. Shiki took that in for a moment while he waited for the gentle colors of the sea to change.

With the bait in the water. The bait of course being him all he really needed to do was wait now. Shiki watched as the sun slowly made its approach over the horizon. Shiki sat there for a few moments watching as the sky became lighter and lighter. There was not a single wave or ripple that was in the bay at all. In fact the water was deep and glassy. Shiki let his feet enjoy the smoothness of the boat for a short moment while it lasted. Shiki savored the colors as he led the boat through the calm waters and the gentle breeze.

As he waited Shiki made sure to tighten down the chest rig and pouches on his equipment. He measured the long metered wire on the edge of the boat and ran his fingers over the edge of his blade. There was only so much that Shiki was going to be able to do when this thing arived and he wondered what the best thing he could do to make sure that his expedition didn’t turn into a funeral. Shiki swung Thanatos a bit giving a few practice swings around. Shiki was getting antsy. His muscles tensed in anticipation.

Shiki smiled as he waited for the monster to show its ugle face. This creature wasn’t going to be easily effected by genjutsu like the monster snake was. Infact this creature wasn’t going to be effected by genjutsu at all. The creature had a pure immunity to genjutsu. Shiki was going to have to deal with this monster the old fashioned way. The best way he knew how, Using his own teeth and fangs. His thunder and his lightning. Shiki was going to have another tough fight of man versus beast.

Shiki watched thought about what type of jutsu would be the most effective against the monster. He would need to make sure that his hits were powerful, decisive and most important of all… The hits would need to be fatal as if Shiki let the creaure try and escape there would be virtually no way for Shiki to stop the creatures escape back towards the bottom of the lake. Shiki looked over at the harpoon guns on the ship… Maybe he could make these work? Shiki paused for a moment as he looked at the line of fire he might have on his ship.

Perhaps he could use the old harpoons designed for whaling to has advanctage during this ordeal. The system worked like an old simple harpoon crank. An iron device that was laqoured properly to avoid rust from the rain and brine from the sea. Shiki would be able to use his blood limit and marksmen skill to perhaps pierce the kraken and then use the wire to keep the creature tethered to the ship. Once the creature was tethered there might be a moment that he could destroy the kraken.

Shiki realized the foolishness of that idea almost instantly. This creature would be massive. At least 80 feet tall. As it tried to clamber down into the edge of the sea it would take the boat with it. Or would it? Shiki realized that despite the huge creatures size it meant that the creature would have to first destroy the balsita or even the ship before the creature would be able to retreat. Shiki kept this information in hand. There was no telling what might happen should he use this technique.

Shiki waited for a moment and took in the environment around him. There was only the sound of the boat gently rocking against the waves. After a short moment there was only so much he could do to keep his mind from wandering back towards the giant monster that was waiting below him in the inky depths of the salty abyss. Shiki used this pause to focus on his rationality. It was during these moments right on the cusp of a real and dangerous battle that Shiki always had these existential crisis.

Shiki waited for a moment longer as he let his inner thoughts grapple with his existence here. Shiki was here for one reason and one reason only. To find, hunt and kill a Kraken. There really was only one real reason that he wanted this thing dead. As disturbing as it sounded Shiki was out here for the glory of combat.  Shiki was out here to test his body against the limitation that he was set towards as a mortal man on this earth. What better way to prove himself as a being doomed to expiration on this earth then to fight an ancient creature.

Sanguine fluids mixed with the fresh waters of the Tydeus as a sea-faring guild carried with them a fool sent on a death quest. The blood of a slain beast trickled into the depths of the sea, yet there would be no wailing resonance coming from that dark abyss in the area Shiki searched vainly in.....

Shiki wasn't going to be disheartened so easily. He continued on his epic adventure to find this mythic beast. As he patrolled the water he looked for any signs of debris or detritus that might signify that there was a kraken here in these parts. Shiki looked over at the bay and wondered a monster of this magnitude might be able to hide. The bay area was immense and that made him feel slightly depressed that he may not see this wonderful beast.Keeping his eye on the horizon he keep his eyes on the water.

Post 21

The water was still inky black despite the fact that the sun was coming up over the horizon. Shiki frowned. He wasn't sure what to do next. Would it make more sense to continue waiting for the kraken to come to his location or perhaps should he try some new waters. Shiki decided that it was best for him to just wait for the kraken to show himself. After all Shiki could sense the approach of any monster that would approach him for miles out. No need to waste his time.

Shiki decided he was just gonna take it easy while he waited for the kraken to show its ugly face so he decided he needed to find something to do to pass the time. So Shiki walked below deck and grabbed a hold of a earthenware pitcher that he had under his deck. Grabbing a couple fresh lemons from his icebox he watched the lapping waves as he pulled out his knife and started cutting the lemons. Shiki made sure to slice the lemons evenly as he did so in order to make sure his compulsive recipe was followed perfectly.

Post 23

Shiki cut a series of lemons and set them to the side. Once he had done so he reached into his icebox and grabbed a few handfuls of ice and dropped them into the jar. Picking up a fresh bottle of water he put it to the side and closed the lid on the icebox. Grabbing a single cup of brown sugar from a small box he added it ontop of the ice and began to start juicing the lemons over the ice. Shiki had some time to kill before the chum in the water spread so he might as well get to burning those hours out of the way now.

Post 24

Shiki had set the sugar on top of the ice which was one of the secrets towards making a perfect lemonade. Half of the trick was making sure that you didn't over do the amount of sweetness that was present in the lemonade. Also... By adding the sugar before the water you could actually reduce the effort that you would need to stir the pitcher afterwords by allowing the mixing water to help the dissolution of the sugar. Once the water, sugar and ice combination had been added Shiki picked up the water bottle. He glanced quickly back up at the horizon... Anything this time?
