In My Right State Of Mind

Situation: "A Letter Of Request"
You arrive in the far outskirts of the land of moon. There is a lone cabin that sits at the far outskirts of town. According to the letter you got there was someone here who was in dire need of help in a manner most urgent. The hand writing was carefully written and made with great precision as the stationary and the envelope were of a very good quality. Who ever sent the letter came from wealth or at least had the money to splurge on such commodities.
The exact message read... "I'm not sure if this letter will reach you in time. I fear that we are running out of time. Please travel to the lightship's estate in the northern hamlet in the Land of Moon. " Beyond that nothing else was said.
Location Start: The Wharf
The only place the ship could land within the next 20 nautical miles on the island was on the small, creaky and worn fishing wharf. While the wharf was old it was in good repair and seemed to be of good quality as it had obviously seen several seasons. Along the wharf were all manner of crates and boxes, sacks of produce and nails. With no port authority and no one running the harbor it was clear that the community was really close. Close enough where villagers could openly leave items out without being stolen.
The dock was small. Nothing really larger than a caravel could ever hope of anchoring on the small wharf. There was a small longboat that seemed to be used for ferrying the supplies from the hamlet over to the main city for export or sell in the local market. From your position here you see two paths. One leads up a long winding road to the top of a cliff. The other leading to the immediate right towards a small inn with some cabins out in the distance. From your position here if you look you can see the faint light of a lantern in the cabin at the top of the hill. To your north east was a massive forest that seemed to cover the entire mountain side.
Location: "A Cabin In The Woods"
The cabin was unassuming in its size and stature and although well built it is obvious that some of the harder to reach places of the cabin had gone without proper care for a few years at least. Right on the edge of a coastal cliff that over looked the sea and on the border of a great forest that stretched across the land of moon. The cabin seemed to keep watch over the cliff from its perch at least a 150 meters to the bottom of the water below.
At the bottom of the water there were lots of jagged rocks and powerful surf that constantly crashed against the cliff face. The whole place seemed like something you'd take off a post card. Ignoring the rest of the small hamlet that lived closer by the docks you'd almost agree that this was the text book picture of what it means to be truly isolated. The address on the letter for a lightship's estate would lead you here should you choose to follow the path up the hill towards the cabin.
Location 2 (Optional): "Eugene's"
However, should you choose to instead follow the path towards the right off the dock it would lead you off the fishermen's wharf and towards a small gathering of houses in the hamlet. There were dozens of houses across the next few miles but all the locals seemed to gather every night in a place called Eugene's. The place was a slightly larger cabin with a hand painted sign out side simply saying. "Eugene's." The cheerful little tavern that was never exactly crowded but you would always manage for find seven or eight of the locals around sharing a pint or two as they chatted about the local gossip and laughed or argued.
The inn was a small one story building with a simple wood fire stove that served not only to cook food for some of the guests but also to heat the place up when the cold sea fog and bitter winters grappled the island. The smell from the cooking fire could be smelt from the dock as it wafted up the chimney and caused a small stack of grey smoke to reach out and fade against the starry sky above. Inside of the inn was a lot of memorabilia and pictures from a lot of the locals but the one local that seemed to be pictured most of all was a picture of a charming young paladin and a beautiful looking dog. There seemed to be photos detailing all manner of moments from the mans life.
Behind the counter was the lady of the hour Eugene. Happily cleaning a glass while several of the older villagers relaxed at the inn drinking during the late hours of the night. The locals were easily identified as the type of people that have lived here on this island for the majority of their lives. They were simple folk in simple dress. A few villagers sat outside the tavern simply relaxing enjoying the cool night air and perhaps airing out after a few drinks. One of the gentlemen had a kid with him.
