Zuruel carefully analysed Tomoko’s words. Lightning Jutsu was definitely going to be something he’d have to find a way to deal with in the future. “Ryu actually requested for me to teach my shield-style at his Dojo. I’m not much of an instructor – but I was interested in how foreign the fighting style seemed to him. I am curious what types of Taijutsu Cloud Ninja utilise that may be foreign to Mo.” The thought excited the Kedoin. Quite visibly so. He was tempted to ask Tomoko if there were any Ninja he could spar with. However, not wishing to complicate negations, he resisted and forced back the request. Even so, Tomoko could probably work out Zuruel’s intentions if she really tried.
“I see. I always find such facts so fascinating. Like the Duchess, I have an affinity for Wind. However, not being born into Mo from the start meant I inherited an affinity for Fire and Earth too – a polar opposite to the Duchesses strengths in Water and Ice.” Zuruel made sure to reveal that information about the Duchess to show that he was more than willing to be as open as Cloud about certain things. “I see.” Zuruel than stroked his chin and pondered over everything Tomoko explained regarding the Raikage. The entire process of electing a Kage appeared more complex that he initially expected.
“What happens if there is a split between candidates? Say for example, the current Raikage has his sights set on one candidate but then the Daimyo elect another, equally qualified candidate. If both are Jounin with the same amount of experience and positive relations with other villages – how would someone be selected?” Mo’s system, although seemingly ‘unfair’ to outsiders, was far simpler and lead to less problems or conflicts. In essence, it worked because of Mo’s mentality. Civilians and soldiers have always been loyal head-strong people with a pride in their roots. None could even for a second imagine a Duke or Duchess outside of the original Chiaki family obtaining the mantle.
“Ah, I fear I have taken up far too much of your time. Is there anything else that needs to be discussed? If not, I would love for our talks to continue in Mo with the Raikage so that we may move this alliance forward.” Zuruel then paused and awaited an answer. No matter the response though, his eagerness seemed to get the better of him as a question slipped through his lips. “Mo has an arena we tend to use for training. If the Raikage wishes, we would love to demonstrate our prowess by sparring with your best Ninja.” Tomoko could likely tell that despite the usage of the word ‘we’ and 'our', the words seemed to come purely from Zuruel and not the Duchess or Mo. Clearly, the man was a fighter. At the same time though, Tomoko didn’t sense pride or hubris. There was no indication that the Kedoin was gunning for a tournament for an opportunity to defeat everyone. Win or lose, Tomoko would simply sense the purest sensation of a love of combat. She would feel in the presence of a man that simply enjoyed growing stronger through new experiences and opponents.
