Blood Veil Keep

When the twins arrived at the designated drop point, they were acconpanied by a cold yet gentle wind. Such wind was familiar to them, it reminded of their home in the mountains where they lived when they were younger. But that was a long time ago and they were not so young anymore. They were not there to reminiscence abkut their past, they were there to accomplish a task to them still unknown. All they were told was that there was a ceramic canister in the spot they had just arrived, and that said canister would contain the informationa they needed. The twins carried all of their gear - wearing their family cloak that sheltered them from the cold wind, a gift from their father that had served them faithfully for many years. Beside the cloak they were sporting their usual clothes , with black leather boots and gloves to match. Once they spotted the log detailed in the letter with their instructions they wkuld pick the canister up hidden among a few rocks and leaves and would open it... Inside there was yet another letter that they wluld begin reading

It had been months since the last person had attempted to take this mission. The target still remained in Blood Veil Keep. Luckily the time spent between the attempts would potentially help the new ninjas in their task. Bloodveil is lacking most the usual members of the keep as a small party of them had went to go gather supplies and recruit fresh recruits from a local village. The Twins would find themselves several miles away from bloodveil castle in the middle of the night. It was cold but their cold weather gear would keep most the sting away.

With the cold wind as their only companion, the twins would begin their journey toward the location indicated in the letter they had found - the twins had travelled far away from the village before - but never for a mission so to them this was rather exciting. The details in the letter were very specific and as they walked toward their destination following the indication by the letter they would realize th at whoever wrote it put an incredible amount of effort for the mission to be accomplished. Regardless, the twins would keep walking non stop as they talked to eachother and kept their guard up no matter what - after all they were in an unknown territory to them.

The cold wind swept through the frosted mountains. It had been many weeks since the last cloud ninja had walked though this area. There was not a single trace of him left. The twins however unlike the most recent adventurer brought their equipment including a map and a compass. The twins would keep hiking across the rocky crag until they came across a deep valley with a river rushing through it. There were large chunks of white ice that seemed to be collecting in the river as it moved past. After several miles of traveling this seemed to be the only large body of water in the region. Luckily this meant the twins were on track. 

The environment was slowly changing. While the weather was roughly 12 degrees F. The bleak and rocky landscape would suddenly bloom into a large temperate forest as they neared the river. Moving into the forest and cutting north OR following the river would both get them on track to their destination. The real question was which way they would want to go?

Their journey toward the castle was coming to an end, and so did the whinter scenery that just a few moments earlier used to reign over the enviroment. As the snow became more and more scarce the twins would begin to notice the atmosphere changing.  With the trees and rocks not covered in snow as much as before a multitude of colous would sprout from the vegetation as if it wanted to show them just how beautiful it could be.

With their destination getting closer and closer the sisters found themselves at a crossroad of sorts "Forest or river?" said Calynn while looking at her sister. "Forest, we are going to be reaching the fortress soon and we dont want to get spotted just yet." A sound reasoning that led the twins to get deeper into the forest using the trees as their cover while attempting to near the fortress walls.

The choice to move through the forest would be their plan of action. While they still had several more miles to travel before they would be upon the forest they would walk several hundred yards before they noticed anything particular. Unlike their last cloud ninja who moved through these woods. The twins would have enough observation to come across and area that would give them an opportunity to investigate. It was a small clearing and there was freshly fallen snow over the area. There wasn't any signs of human movement but there was a pile of snow that seemed to jut out of the snow bank oddly. 

The woods around them seemed to stretch on endlessly in all area's around them. The twins could either press on or investigate. Regardless the choice was theirs to make. It was approaching noon and the temperate shifted ever so slightly. Clouds were starting to collect over the sun giving the environment a dull look of various shades of white and grey.

In her formative years, the Mizukage had set up a base-camp of sorts within the Land of Thunder. She had designed the project to act as a go-between for the two villages and to form a base for small task forces. As the reining Mizukage, she knew for a fact that several missions had operated from this very camp. When inspecting the camp and the ANBU stationed there, a mission request had come through that fit Yoko’s skill set quite well, and as a result, she opted to take the assignment. Naturally, she and the personnel stationed there had investigated the destination through the use of various maps, aerial pictures, and local knowledge of the surrounding area. It was from this information that the youth had been able to build up an idea of what the area should look like and subsequently decide on what to take with her.

Yoko had planned out her route in detail before departing from the camp. She wanted to avoid raising suspicions and potentially tipping her opponents off, so public transport was out of the question instead opted to cover the last few miles of her trip on foot. This course of action played to her strengths; her body was small enough to draw cover and concealment from environmental factors that other ninja needed to crawl to use. When combined with her hazy form it seemed quite unlikely that a potential scout had spotted her. Nevertheless, the youth wanted to avoid detection at a later date by a patrol, so she took every effort to her hide tracks moving at half speed towards her objective while employing the use of lofted stride technique. Of course, she systematically checked the environment around her for boobytraps and potential ambushes as she progressed through the use of her blue-eyed gem and eyes of the plane.

Her base attire was standard issue for a Hidden Mist Scout Sniper in Mountain/Cold weather conditions. Nothing on it nor about it suggested that she was, in fact, the leader of the village: no rank, no insignia, no village headband. The youth’s specialised cold weather equipment consisted of: a long-sleeved fleece shirt, a soft-shell jacket, and soft-shell trousers fitted with a belt all of which were thick and held an urban camouflage pattern, a white winter balaclava, and waterproof leather boots.

Next came a layer of custom-built umbrite armour, gauntlets, greaves, and a helmet that left her face exposed. She had covered the helmet with a layer of snow camouflaged cloth so that it did not stick out in the environment. The craftsmen down at the store had also fitted a wireless radio and a rebreather that could be quickly deployed to the helmet. Her gauntlets carried shock enhancements along with a modular field cauteriser, rebar splint, med diagnostic scanner, plasma protein replicator, mine/emitter disruptor, grapnel gun, a gem of reflection, and four gems of energy: moderate clear, moderate orange, slight red, slight green.

To blend into this environment white clothing was required, so Yoko wore a set of over-garments to cover all of the parts of her attire that were not white. A shirt, trousers, and pack cover, all of which were lightweight and easy to remove, yet attached enough to ensure that they would not come undone should Yoko need to crawl for a prolonged period. The idea was to remove these components once she reached the facility should the need arise. She also wore a set of leather stalker gloves covered in a white camouflage, a digital watch, and warm socks. Specially treated ballistic goggles protected her eyes from the UV rays reflecting off the snow, the anti-flash treatment also ensured that sunlight would not glint to alert enemies of her position. They were also fitted with several different types of vision settings that could be toggled at the touch of a button: canny descrier, camera, condition viewing, lie-detector, substance locator, underwater, x-ray, night-vision, and infra-vision.

She wore a tactical vest on top of the jacket as a form of storage for her light-arms it was fitted with two utility pouches, five half pouches, and five quick pouches. In the first utility pouch, she had her Tears of the Fairy Stone, rogue stone, glass cutter, three phials of Rapid Rust, and two phials of cat potion. In the second she stored a dungeoneer’s compass, a regular compass, fifteen zip ties, two excellent medium padlocks, a spyglass, and a standard-flask containing 2 pints of rum. The first half pouch contained various phials of oils, Hang Man’s, Hybrid, Necrophage, Relict, and Spectre. Her quick pouches all contained a single type of item, Lockpick kit, two kunai, spring razor, three samum grenades. There was an exception, however, the final quick pouch held her a lightning stone, a skull of strength, troll stone, awareness stone, a chain of knowledge, all-seeing eye, Doolittle Gem, a gem of the wise, and a Gerber multi-tool. Her half pouches followed the same format—a single item each—an Umbrite Ka-Bar knife, a pint wineskin filled with water, three phials of suffocating powder, five phials of blinding powder, and an Amazing national scale map of the Land of Thunder.

As the youth expected that this mission could take in excess of twenty-four hours she brought with her sufficient supplies for a seven-two-hour period. Anything that was not stored in the aforementioned vest was inside her MOLLE II assault pack, which was covered in a snow camouflage pack cover, with the exception of Yoko’s noqual kukri which was attached to the side of the pack. The pack contained a hydration system filled with two quarts of water, two first strike ration kits which were the equivalent of six meals, twenty sheets of parchment, twenty-three phials of scent killer, a signal mirror and a noqual entrenching tool. Inside this pack, the Mizukage stored several smaller containers, the first was a waterproof Exped bag that contained five sets of socks, a snow-camouflaged poncho, a spare set of the jacket, shirt, headwear, and pants that matched the ones she wore. A ziplocked bag containing her navigational equipment, a protractor, map case containing an amazing regional and local map, a mechanical pencil, an alcohol pen, and a fifteen-centimetre straight edge ruler. A second waterproof ziplocked bag containing sixteen metres of nylon kernmantle paracord, flint, and a dozen waterproofed matches in a waterproof container. In addition to the medical equipment the youth carried on her gauntlet, she also had a small waterproof medical kit in her backpack, containing two antiseptic cleaning pads with ointment, six gravitic pressure bandages, two sets of rubber surgical gloves, and finally two large safety pins.

On her back alongside the MOLLE II, the youth had a back quiver that could hold three hundred arrows, she had elected to fill it with two-hundred: eighty-four balanced broadhead point arrows that had razor blade fletchings fifty-six of these were modified equally with equal amount true to spinning. She possessed a further one-hundred-and-thirteen arrow that followed the same format; however, they were made from a lightweight anti-gravitic ore, thirty-seven true, thirty-seven seven spinning. The remaining three were balanced boreworm tipped arrows that used spinning razor blade fletching. Finally, the youth used a cloak of Hyūga to cover all this equipment and herself, her prehensile tail remained hidden firmly holding her luckbringer dice together to ensure their effect remained constant.

When Yoko arrived at the rendezvous point, the youth stood and observed the area for her partner, perfect stabilised recurve-bow in her dominant hand. The weapon was equipped x14 zooming scope, and a small quiver that contained ten balanced boreworm tipped arrows spinning razor blade fletched arrows. To reiterate she remained hidden looking for her partner, steeling herself for the coming violence.

Description: Across history many items and objects have been said to have the power of luck. Some have proved true, others false, and the true ability of still other objects remains unknown. Followers of Wrix, the Luckbringer, have researched, collected, and cataloged many of these items. A Gnome wizard named Jamin Forestdigger, a follower of Wrix, sought to add to the Luckbringer’s powers and began experimenting with different minerals. As befitting his faith, Forestdigger's success was a chance of luck. He'd been frustrated to this point, having tested several hundred minerals with no success. In a fit of rage he picked up a pair of sardonyx that had been sitting on a table and threw them against a wall. Later, picking the pieces up, he noticed that the two minerals had shattered into two cubes and resembled the dice that are the symbol of Wrix. When a pair of sardonyx are cut into cubes and set with the symbols associated with Wrix the Alchemy within the mineral is harnessed. The Alchemical Properties is only harnessed when 2 pieces of sardonyx are harnessed together, and once harnessed, the Alchemy only works when both "dice" are held together. A person that holds the dice benefits from a +5 luck bonus to Skills, a +1 luck bonus on saves versus fear effects, and receives 13 temporary Armour Points. Damage dealt to the bearer of the luck stone is removed from these temporary Armour Points first. If a person stops holding one or both of the luck stones they immediately lose all benefits, including the temporary Armour Points.
Limit: These types of items may be bought inside any Alchemy Shop. With a 20% chance of finding.

Followers of Wrix, the Luckbringer, have researched, collected, and cataloged many of these items. A Gnome wizard named Jamin Forestdigger, a follower of Wrix, sought to add to the Luckbringer’s powers and began experimenting with different minerals. As befitting his faith, Forestdigger's success was a chance of luck. He'd been frustrated to this point, having tested several hundred minerals with no success. In a fit of rage he picked up a pair of sardonyx that had been sitting on a table and threw them against a wall. Later, picking the pieces up, he noticed that the two minerals had shattered into two cubes and resembled the dice that are the symbol of Wrix. When a pair of sardonyx are cut into cubes and set with the symbols associated with Wrix the Alchemy within the mineral is harnessed. The Alchemical Properties is only harnessed when 2 pieces of sardonyx are harnessed together, and once harnessed, the Alchemy only works when both "dice" are held together. A person that holds the dice benefits from a +5 luck bonus to Skills, a +1 luck bonus on saves versus fear effects, and receives 13 temporary Armour Points. Damage dealt to the bearer of the luck stone is removed from these temporary Armour Points first. If a person stops holding one or both of the luck stones they immediately lose all benefits, including the temporary Armour Points.

While umbrite is no match for the hardness of mithral or adamantine, it is stronger than steel and easily among the most durable metals known. Beyond its capable performance as a metal, umbrite is remarkable for its light-absorbing qualities. Umbrite seemingly absorbs light at a slow rate, causing shadows around it to deepen considerably. In fact, veins of umbrite are often located by noting areas incurring a sudden loss of light. Strangely, umbrite is a relatively new discovery, having first been written about within the last 200 years. When the first reports of this material were made, they were dismissed as hallucinations produced by the subterranean gases. This may be one reason umbrite has remained unknown for so long. Umbrite is only found during mining operations for other ores or rare gems, and even more curiously, only in the deepest and darkest locales where few civilized folk venture. One sage has theorized that umbrite may well be a new material. Its appearance and location may be linked with the little-known fact that it only appears near large concentrations of the strange radiations that are said to grow through the underworld. Drawback: Demon Weapon Gene impose a -1 penalty to Will Saves and -5 to Skill Category 3 Skills because being a Demon Weapon brings them closer to Insanity.
Description: This Ritual can be performed at any time of day or night. The Weapon Gene is what gives the Demon Weapon the ability to transform. There are two ways a member gains The Demon Weapon Gene. 1) By being a descendant of a family line that has the Demon Weapon Gene (Start Up Ryo is still Deducted). 2) By receiving the Demon Weapon Gene later in life. The Ritualist creates a concoction, using the flesh of Protean, and injects the blood of Protean into the target of the Ritual. The target of the ritual then makes a Pact with Death himself asking for further power as the blood and flesh overtakes the body of the target. The subject dies and is ritually buried in hallowed ground. After the interment, the Ritualist invokes a prayer to Death asking him to bestow a power of weapon and steel. At the conclusion of the ritual the subject is unburied as life is restored. There are no Type nor Subtype alterations to the target. After the Ritual has been performed the target is able to maintain all of its Bloodlimit Attributes if it has one. It can no longer take any additional Creation Rituals. The Target may learn all techniques in the Mabuki Clan. If the user learns a "Weapon Form" they may "Partially" transform a portion of their anatomy (usually the arm) into a single Non-Chakra Weapon within 1/2 a round. The Limb remains transformed for a number of rounds equal to 3 + Impeccable Will, and cannot change back until the duration ends. User may perform this technique a number of times equal to 5 per Class Level. The transformed limb has all the properties of the Weapon Form, but is considered a Natural Weapon for all purposes. This ritual is ruined if a Raise Dead Ritual is performed on the subject or if the Subject is beheaded before they are brought back as a Demon Weapon. Performing the Ritual leaves the Ritualist weakened for 1d10 days.

[Starnaess]

The twins were the curious type - seeking knowledge above everything else and as they noticed something off in an area not too far from them they decided to check it out. Maybe their imagination was playing tricks on their mind or maybe they did indeed see something odd about it , regardless - with as much caution as possible the twins decided to follow their instincts.

With caela in front of her sister, as they walked, she would spread wires from her feet onto the ground throughout the forest to scout for anything that would come toward their way. With their guard up as they reached the clearing they would begin to observe their surroundings and Caela's wires would begin to spread even further looking for anything unusual.

The Twins and the Mizukage were withing 200 meters from one another. The location the twins had chosen to explore was the only clearing in the local area. Choosing to examine the local snowbank would put her within eyesight of the mizukage. The mizukage, while stealthed would be totally unnoticed by the twins as they moved into the clearing. From where the twins were standing they were about 30 meters out of the woodline and directly in the center of the forested location. The abnormality seemed to be that there was something buried under the snow, it looked like a large lump that was sticking out of the usually flat snow. 

The twin set their wires to go across the snow. But not being able to directly identify what the object was. But from the feel of the object it was solid to the touch and still under a lot of snow.

The Mizukage had successfully made it to her rendezvous point all that remained was to find her partner for this assignment. She knew relatively little about them other than that they were a cloud ninja. Consequently, the two people advancing into this area could be friends or foes, she needed to investigate further to determine their purpose for being here. Were they part of a scout team sent by the facility she was to assault? The possibilities were almost endless.

However, the lack of visible cold weather clothing arguably ruled them out as members of a patrol, or natives to the area. Surely both parties would have been aware of the high possibility of freezing to death in this level of cold. One could obviously make the counter-argument that the patrol intentionally wore this attire to trick people, but why would cheap hire do so? Or perhaps they wore thicker clothing beneath their cloaks? Ultimately this only reaffirmed the need for observation.

Thus, the youth continued to silently observe the pair from her hidden position, gathering as much information as she could to make an informed decision. She carried this assessment out with two views in mind. Firstly to determine whether they were a threat or not, were there any visible insignias, or headbands? Secondly, were there any distinctive features by which she could track them, this process drew on auditory information. The length of their stride, the pressure they exerted on the snow as they passed over it, even an irregular breathing pattern.

[Starnaess]

Within what one would assume to be a safe distance, Caela would try to remove the snow that was ontop the object using her wires - roughly thirty meters away from it. Meanwhile Calynn would pull out the letter to , read its details once more - " This should be the randevous point specified in the letter" said the twin - lets keep an eye out , we dont know how the other person looks like. With one swift movement , she would jump high up reaching the tree branch closed to her and climb on top to gain better vision.

Perhaps the lump in the snow was a sign that the randevous place was there? there were no mention of it in the letter but from the looks of it  - it helped them to find the placed they were looking for , the place that for them and their to be seen partner would be the last peaceful area before officially starting the mission.

From the ninja's vantage point in the tree the ninja would observe a strong cutting wind that whipped across the forest top. The wind seemed to be coming from the east most face of the mountain. From the location the twin would notice in the distance a long winding road that seemed to snake up the side of a ridge. The clouds, relatively low hanging in these mountain tops seemed to cut off the rest of the road as it lingered. It appeared that the fortress itself existed beyond the cloud bank. From above the cover of the trees the wind made the air feel colder as it would strip warmth from her. 

The second ninja, the mizukage has so far gone unnoticed.

Yoko continued to observe the two people throughout as they went about their business, studying them in an attempt to decipher their profession. As part of this process she tried to understand why they were here, did they know that it was a rendezvous point, or were they merely scouts inspecting an unidentified mound in the snow? It remained unclear for the time being.



The presence of wire did indicate that this person was a ninja, or at the very least trained in the ways of ninjutsu: Yoko had encountered wire creatures in the past, namely, a waterfall ninja at the exam. The removal of a letter if sighted also helped to colour the youth's opinion of the group, and the subsequent leap into the air. All of these factors were consistent with that of a friendly. Why would an enemy open themselves up like that, sure it meant that Yoko had to split her observation between them, but they had no means of knowing that she was alone. In reality, someone could have perceived their swift movements as a threat, and an itchy trigger finger did not go well with threats. Was it not far more likely that they were here in response to an order, an order written on the letter one of the members had just read? Thus, Yoko elected to interact with the pair; she slowly moved from her position while addressing them.

She was acutely aware of the fact that these ninjas potentially faced the same problem as her: they could suspect that she was an enemy. Fortunately, they had all arrived at the same point and if prompted Yoko could reveal that they were Cloud ninjas sent to aid her.

As the twins kept exploring the place described in the note they would suddently see someone walking slowly toward them. The immediate reaction was that of stepping backwards - away from that person, however on second thought if that unknown person was an enemy he would've already attacked. As the figure became clearer they would notice a young female , heavily dressed in order to shelter herself from the cold enviroment.

The twins did not know her , but from her actions they could tell she wanted something from them "Who are you?" spoke the twins in unison "state your business here". Meeting in that specific place at that specific time was more than a coincidence, could she be another ninja with their same goal? the twins did not know but they had to find out if the person in front of them was an enemy or an ally.

Yoko had been carefully observing the pair as she moved out of her hiding place. Thus, she was quick to notice and analysis their step backwards. Their actions were not what she expected from a patrol party, as they did not raise their weapons as a form of defence nor threaten her. As a result, Yoko felt comfortable enough with the pairing to disclose her purpose here. However, the language that she opted to use did not indicate that she was here to kill, nor that she was searching the area for fellow ninja. In short, she wanted to hedge her bets in case they turned out to be members of the patrol. "I'm looking for a guide" her voice remained calm showing no signs of hostility, but rather giving the impression that she was a harmless child. Her body remained on guard throughout the encounter her eyes scanning for potential threats so that she could react in a defensive manner if required.

The sentence "Im looking for a guide" made an instant impression on the twins. That  same sentence was in fact a secret signal described in the letter , to be used in case other people were assignet to the mission. Being a high risk and secretive mission, such ways were necessary to make sure it had the highest chance of success. If the twins had the slightest suspicion toward that person it immediatly disappeared with the ending of that sentence. As they lowered their guards and as the wires were being gathered back to Caela's body the twins smiled.

As they slightly bowed in perfect sync they would put up an evil smile as they said in unison "We are Calynn and Caela , its a pleasure to meet you - we are looking forward to working with you." While staring at the woman the only thought in their mind was the mission. They were eager to begin and were also looking forward to know their partnet's abilities.

Yoko elected to close the distance between her new found partner by a substantial margin, all the while remaining a constant state of vigilance. She did not return the bow, for she saw no need, the same applied to the idle pleasantries, the fact of the matter was that every moment wasted here allowed their enemies to fortify their position even further. The only thing that she was interested in for the time being was their combat capabilities, means of communication, and how much they knew of the area.

Yoko had navigated her way to this position through the use of the maps and compasses on her person. She had used these tools to plan out a route to the objective based on the available cover and concealment. She wanted to avoid wide open spaces, bivouac areas, road, and other dangerous areas where possible. Her advance was to be made up of a series of movements between observation points, the size and distance of which was determined by the environment.

The youth set off towards her objective along her predetermined route consulting her tools as required, at a rate of approximately six miles per an hour checking for traps as she went. She could have travelled faster if she so desired, however, she wanted to avoid tiring herself out and potentially giving away her position. By the same virtue, the youth could have travelled significantly slower, electing to use a crawl of some manner, however, given her small stature she saw no benefit to doing so for the time being. Instead, she focused on maintaining a sensible pace that allowed her to remain hidden through her journey while hiding the tracks of herself and her companions. She asked the pair a question as she moved, her voice little more than a whisper: "any special language skills that could be applicable or information regarding the target?"

The twins shaked their head as they followed the ninja who clearly lacked manners. They didnt care so much as to point it out, not right now atleast. To them respect came before almost anything - but in this case , the money from the mission's rewards were more appealing to them ... after all that was an obsession of theirs. " the only information we have is his name , Hideko a paranoid who is most likely protected by a group of guards.." said the twins with a calm tone. Beside that they only knew he ha d to be eliminated and prevented from leaving the caste. For now the twins decided it was fine to follow the ninja - if anything felt wierd about the situation they would act accordingly.

As the party moved through the woods they would choose to leave the object in the snow as it was. Perhaps for the better. They continued to move through the stony forest as they moved along the mountain. Eventually after traveling for a good 30 minutes they would come across a trail that led through the mountains. The trees were growing less dense as they moved. The lack of air up here meant that the trees were unable to grow to their full height. The trail continued to snake up along the mountain top. 

They would have another choice to make. If they looked up at the trail (that led to their destination.) They would see the very clouds themselves obstructing what was beyond the trail.
