    "If you know all of my skills, then I want to see you perform the mirror image jutsu," Inoryu implied.

   

    "Sure," the shadow clone answered as he commenced the hand seals. Inoryu noticed that his hand seal weaving was as fast as his and realized that the shadow clone would be able to perform high level genjutsu, if his chakra allowed. He also noticed that he only retained half of his chakra and realized that the shadow clone contained the other half. Within seconds, the shadow clone executed the mirror image jutsu and 8 illusory images appeared. He was impressed with the shadow clones fast execution and chakra control, as he showed no signs of fatigue. He imagined that the combination of shadow clones and mirror images would be very confusing for the enemy.

    "Well done, Ryu," said Inoryu, "How much chakra do you have left?"

    The shadow clone paused with a slight drop of his chin in contemplation and answered, "About four A-ranks worth of chakra left," which the mirror images mimicked. Inoryu nodded in understanding and weaved his fingers into the shadow clone hand seal once again. He fluxed his chakra and grabbed enough to create a perfect shadow clone, but this time his intention was to create as much shadow clones with that chakra as he could. The result was four more shadow clones appearing in existence. "So, five is my limit," he said.  

     Inoryu would become very introspective for a moment as he roughly analyzed how much chakra that he yet retained, "So it seems that my chakra is distributed evenly among all of my shadow clones. Check again, and tell me how much chakra that you have left," Inoryu said to the shadow clone with active mirror images.

    He dipped his chin again in introspection and answered, "I have about 4 C-ranks worth of chakra now."

    "I see," Inoryu replied.

    Inoryu was getting nervous at the prospect of using his clones to practice genjutsu. He understood that even though that prospect frightened him, he also saw the greatest potential of growth. He was already imagining the pain and mental trauma that would happen to him, but he balanced the thoughts of being able to overcome the genjutsu and become more resistant. Maybe today would be the day where he would begin training in that manner. It already was a peculiar day.

    Inoryu reverted back to the present, "So, you all could do everything that I can do, and you are equipped with the same weapons I am equipped with. When I use the shadow clone jutsu, my chakra is distributed equally between all of the clones. Right now there are a total of five clones, so our chakra level is down to 4 C-ranks. Then if I were to dismiss three of you, my chakra would double," Inoryu dismissed three clones and they vanished from existence in a cloud of smoke, "Now we have 2 B-ranks worth of chakra between us. And if I were to dismiss all of you, then I have only spent a B-ranks worth of chakra. This truly is a powerful jutsu," Inoryu said and the shadow clones agreed.

The lazy grow stronger as they sleep.

Her dream was vivid. Ameya was able to see all sorts of different patterns throughout the world. And she would identify each pattern. One visually changed the color of everything around her. The pattern twisted and turned and then turned into another pattern. The colors were changing rapidly and it went from strikes to dots, to boxes.

Her perception of these images in her head continued to change with them. The colors then turned into shadows, and the turned into light. Then the shapes began to change shape and waver. She tried to understand what was going on, but could not grasp what it was. Her mind couldn’t wrap around what was actually happening. She still watched as her dream world continued to shift.

She awoke, drenched in sweat. Somehow she felt like she had learned something from this. She focused her chakra and tried to change the patterns of the things around her. She tried doing exactly as she had saw in her dream. Her chakra of course reacted, but nothing really changed. The only change was in what her chakra was now capable of doing. At least that was what she felt.

She went back to sleep, only to dream of more patterns.

    Inoryu took in the sight of the moonless sky behind the transparent cloud. There weren't many stars out but he still found beauty there nonetheless. It was the way the light around the moon bent as a if being refracted due to the atmosphere. He took in the moment, as did his three shadow clones when he finally spoke, "Let's begin." 

    Years of studying phantasms were finally able to be put to use on command now that he had viable targets. He had learned over the years the theory and application of phantasms that he figured he would be able to apply them well. He would start off easy and progress into more difficult phantasms. His first task was to deafen, shaken, and confuse the target. Though, with his very own shadow clone as the target, it may not be as simple as it sounds considering he is variably a genjutsu master himself. 

    He remembered reading the mechanics of the "Boomer" genjutsu and he would attempt to effect his shadow clone with it. He weaved through the series of hand seals and project his chakra to the target which was the shadow clone standing in the middle. If successful, the target would suffer all of those conditions, and made him quite unpredictable. He took a small amount of chakra and gave it the qualities of the boomer phantasm. Once the target contacted, Inoryu would know if the jutsu was successful or not.

    Inoryu didn't quite know how to feel about the results. Should he feel proud that his shadow clone was able to resist the genjutsu or should he feel disappointed that his genjutsu didn't go through? He was in a meditative state and was actually rather indifferent to it. He felt neither proud or disappointed, but instead took on a non-biased attitude towards the training. He would get down to the truth of the matter and progress from that point.

Ameya still slept in the middle of the training grounds. Her dreams were always vivid images and she always had control of them. Her dream self wasn’t affected by much and was able to alter anything it came across in the dream. She never had nightmares, but in her dreams she was able to become the nightmare of those in her dreams. A paradox that no one should try to understand. Images was the easy part.

Sounds would alter and distort to her will. Smells, sights, anything that could be perceived through the five senses. One enemy tried to sneak up on her, but she made them see frogs bursting from their skin. Another tried to do the same, and their body fell apart. A third ninja tried to attack her and a sonic boom blew their eardrums. Of course this was all in their head.

She turned her body into a giant tentacle monster and started to rampage through the village she was in. Anyone that attacked her saw themselves turn to swine. She caused many panic attacks, laughing all the while. This perception let her do almost anything she wanted without actually doing anything. It only affected the minds of others. She stirred in her sleep, smile on her face.

Dragon of Wandering Folly

Effect: This Jutsu causes the target to see a small sized spirit dragon of unknown origin and type hovering in the air 5 meters in front of them.

Description: A Mind-Affecting Technique. Affects 1 target. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 7 meters plus 6 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 minutes per class level. This technique may be negated. So beautiful and friendly is this dragon that the target feels compelled to approach the creature. When doing so, the dragon illusion beckons to the target and instructs them to follow. The target will aimlessly wander after the dragon, ignoring responsibility or prior circumstances. The direction of the dragon illusion deviates from time to time, causing the target to become potentially lost from their original location.
Limit: Must know the Phantasm Perception.

    "The shadow clones resistance was successful this time, but maybe he just got lucky," Inoryu thought. "I should try a few more times before I deem D-rank genjutsu as wholly unsuccessful." Due to his consistent study of genjutsu and phantasms in particular, there were other variations of genjutsu that he wanted to try. Phantasms were vehicles for many different debilitation and attrition, and he wanted to explore the potential phantasms contained. Already his imagination was running around different possibilities. 

    He remembered studying a phantasm that would be useful to isolate a person from their team called "dragon of wandering folly." The concept was to use the phantasm perception to deceive the targets senses while imbuing a sort of charming effect to the hallucination. One school of thought decrees that the jutsu was named "dragon of wandering folly" because the inventor determined that the image of a dragon made the charm potent enough to overcome all of the target's senses. Another school of thought believed that the phantasm was of a dragon so the user could remain hidden. Another school of thought believes that the inventor of the jutsu was fond of dragons and engineered the jutsu so that it would only work with the image of the dragon. Whatever may be true, Inoryu noted that it has its uses as a ninja. 

    Following the theory and principles of the phantasm perception as well as his memory of the jutsu, Inoryu was able to intuit what hand seals were necessary. He targeted the same shadow clone, even though all of their natural resistance was the same and he imbued his chakra with the phantasm. Invisibly and immediately, his chakra reached out well in its range and he would observe the success or failure of the jutsu. 

    Inoryu could sense that his genjutsu was in the works. He watched the shadow clone's stunned expression as the beautiful and friendly phantom dragon appeared in his reality. He was compelled to approach the dragon and the dragon beckoned him and instructed him to follow. He began to aimlessly wander after the phantom dragon, completely losing himself to the genjutsu. He wandered out and away from him, the shadow clones and deeper into the training area.

She could think about the days from her youth, but memory of academy days was fuzzy, especially of her teacher, Sensei Boyou. But thought only confuses her more, honestly, as he'd never given an inkling of an idea of how he'd ever done it. He'd simply performed jutsus without much action and that was it; it wasn't addressed, never fully. Sometimes students even joked about him being a wizard or a sorcerer, but Harue never saw a big difference between the two. Both ninja and 'wizard' can wield the elements, after all. She didn't see the bid deal in putting labels on it, or anything, anyways.

Maybe Harue had to consider herself a witch or a wizard before she could continue, though. She didn't know how to get into that mindset, and she figured it wasn't a developed or isolated type of being. A witch was a witch because they were a witch, not because of how they act. The pinkette scrunches up her face, turning to look across the meadow at the various ninja training. Freckled throughout were some who used handseals to perform, some of them NinJutsu and some of them at least reminiscent of GenJutsu. How would they proceed without the use of their arms?

Lifting her hands slightly above hip level, palm up, she stares at the creases in her skin. Did she have to pretend she didn't have arms? She could hold them behind her back, and attempt to focus chakra without holding a seal. It would be a harmless buildup, though she might have to diffuse the built up chakra somehow, or let it fizzle out. When she thought about doing it this way, it felt far less intimidating - she knew how to concentrate chakra without using a seal regardless, so she just had to harness that and build off of it.

Description: A Mind-Affecting Technique. Affects all allied creatures within 30 meters radius spread. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 30 meters plus 15 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 minutes per class level. All subjects of this Jutsu perceive each other as surrounded by a glowing aura of a color the user specify upon performing. Distance, cover, and concealment do not negate the aura unless they prevent any possibility of sight. (That is, any subject capable of spotting another subject under the prevailing conditions can see the latter's aura.) Normally, this Jutsu is used to prevent accidental attacks against allies in darkness, fog, battles with similarly dressed foes, and other confusing situations. This Jutsu also gives each subject a +4 to avoid any Chakra effects that would cause that subject to harm another target of the Jutsu. Friendsight is a phantasm, so the perceived auras are entirely in the mind of the subject. The recipients do not actually glow, although they radiate Chakra that can be detected with Jutsus capable of finding Chakra.

    Inoryu was thinking of what other practical uses the phantasm perception has for ninja, to him the possibilities seemed endless. He thought of ways that the phantasm perception might aid his teammates and he thought of a simple solution. There is a jutsu called "friendsight" which imbues an aura to its subjects. It's a useful jutsu for situations that are confusing or where vision is difficult. Even in obscured vision, the aura would reveal where the teammate was.

    This was a fun phantasm to reproduce due to the mechanics behind the jutsu. The friendsight jutsu affects all allied creatures within a 30 meter radius spread at a distance of 30 meters plus 15 per class level which meant this was easily one of the most far reaching genjutsu around. In this instance, all of the subjects present in the training area would be included. Using his knowledge of phantasm perception theory and applied genjutsu, he was able to remember the hand seals that he had studied so long ago. When the hand seals were concluded, he made five meters in front of him the distance and the area of effect included the two shadow clones five meters in front of him, the wandering shadow clone fifteen meters behind and himself.

    Inoryu felt that the genjutsu was successful on the wandering shadow clone, but not the shadow clone before him. In his mind and the wandering clones mind, all of the shadow clones present would be radiating a blue aura. The wandering shadow clone didn't seem to notice as he was too fascinated by the phantom dragon, facing the other direction, but Inoryu could see his shadow clones clearly. Even if there was a mist, fog, or cloud, he and his shadow clone would be able to see them.

Description: A Mind-Affecting Technique. Affects any 1 creature within the range of the technique. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 7 meters plus 6 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 50 minutes per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. The pursuant adopts the form most unsettling to the subject. It occupies an area within 15 meters of the subject at all times, but never addresses them. While the pursuant stalks the subject, they suffer a -2 penalty to Saves against fear effects and illusions. There is no way to elude the pursuant, but it can be confronted. A subject that confronts its pursuant receives a Save to disbelieve it. A subject that fails suffers imaginary pursuant’s effects for another 2d4 hours.
Limit: Must know Phantasm Perception.

    Inoryu dismissed the friendsight jutsu and remembered a phantasm whose purpose was to unsettle the opponent and cause a distraction. He would apply the phantasm perception theory and remember the hand seals of this particular jutsu. He managed the small amount of chakra that he would use for the jutsu and imbued it with the phantasm perception. He coded the subterfuge into the chakra like a story and targeted the wandering shadow clone. Out of those two shadow clones, he seemed more susceptible. Instantaneously, Inoryu's chakra touched the target and the hallucination attempted to manifest. 

    Inoryu could sense that the infection occurred and the coded chakra was infecting the wandering shadow clone's brain. He dismissed the dragon of wandering folly phantasm and in its wake, the shadow clone could see a dark, menacing figure staring out at him from the other side of the fence in training area three. He was startled upon seeing the image and drew out a kunai in his left hand and a bo shuriken in each knuckle in his right hand without losing sight of the figure. He was prepared to fight when suddenly he relaxed into a natural stance and returned his weapons to his butt bag. Inoryu knew that the shadow clone detected the illusion without determining what perception it was.

    The shadow clone resorted to genjutsu kai. Inoryu observed the ram hand seal that the shadow clone was using to stop the chakra flow in his body, gathering chakra and applying the stronger chakra to disrupt the phantasm. It seemed that his genjutsu kai has failed. He drew out two bo shuriken and charged at the phantasm. He wasn't aware that it was only in his mind, but he had to be sure. He threw his shuriken at the figure but the figure remained.

Description: A Fear, Mind-Affecting Technique. Affects 1 creature. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 30 meters plus 15 meters per class level. The duration of this technique is instantaneous. This Jutsu creates a creeping sensation over the target's body that can cause it to become panicked for a short amount of time (1d4 rounds). With a successful save, the target is instead shaken for 1d4 rounds.
Limit: Must know the Phantasm Perception.

    Inoryu has lost track of how many years he had spent studying the phantasm perception daily, but today it would seem all of his consistent studying was beginning to pay off. He understood the mechanics of the phantasms he placed on the field, and he already began to manipulate his targets like a mind reaver. He knew that the imaginary pursuant had a fear effect on the target and made him more susceptible to additional genjutsu with the fear effect. He began to play on this like a mind reaver, though he wasn't aware of his own skill or potential. 

    Immediately an idea came to him, "Jink's indescribable creep, a fear, mind-affecting technique." He took hold of a small amount of chakra within him and coded it with a specific phantasm. He imbued his chakra with the effect of a creeping sensation all over the target's body, which will be heightened with the imaginary pursuant. He weaved the hand seals from his knowledge of phantasm theory and memory and rocketed the chakra outward to the already unsettled target. 

    Inoryu sensed that the genjutsu was resisted, but it wasn't without affect. The shadow clone would be shaken for some time and thus more susceptible to genjutsu. He was also still contending with the imaginary pursuant. Even though the genjutsu failed, it still offered him advantages. He would pause for a moment and think of other ways he can apply the phantasm perception.
