[Ryutatsu "Sakurai Sword"]

Ryutatsu stood by an watched as the various Sand Nin and that Grass Nin moved on. His sensitive ears picked up a couple pieces of interesting information. Shiki called one of them Hamura, and Ryutatsu memorized which mask and cloak combination was that guy. He knew that boy as his old partner during the Festival Hunt. That boy is an excellent tracker and decent assassin. Less flash and more actual skill than most. This made the 'we got this' from another sand ninja even more familiar. He suspected who that was but left it be.

Besides during this he was talking with Gunnr making it appear that he didn't notice certain little things about people he use to know very well. "That is Shiki Senri. He has made a deal to open up several of his dojos. He must be here with his students from there. " With a small shrug and a disapproval twist of his mouth he flashed his number to the examiner to receive his card. He quickly palmed it into a pocket hidden in his gauntlet after looking at it for a moment. Then he walked further into the building with the rest of the candidates.

His eyes activated to have their white dots as he moved in. Making his way was easier as the flow of people heading out had slowed thanks to his waiting for a moment. He then took it one step further before he went to far into this maze of a building. He 'dropped' a seed and a few shavings of metal. With a little turn of chakra he forced a small flower to grow in a corner and grow around the few shavings that he also made to shape into a arrow pointing out. No one would be able to see it but he could sense it.

He had did the palm and drop as he walked past the entrance and used the moving masses as cover for his actions. And sense he used pure chakra at a distance to cover the growth and meal movement he didn't need to be near it to do what was needed. No one observing him would see much of anything. The games had started and he learned his lessons from Loki well.

"Interesting... so he's not part of Kumo anymore. But comes here in support of another village?" Gunnr would like to talk to the man about his... odd decision. What would lead a man to betray his country? Again such thoughts would have to be on hold till later. She made her way into the building getting her card as she walked pass the Examiners. Again, looking over it, again sliding it into the gauntlets on her wrist. She would like to focus on the subject at hand, but something was eating away at her, as she looked back over her shoulder to look at Shiki and the group from sand.

Was it that easy to hop from village to village without consequence? It seemed that he still held some measure of power even with his new village. She understood honoring strength, but such actions such at least slow the progression back to such influence. Perhaps he was never really part of Kumo to begin with? Maybe he was always part of Suna, and was just playing a long con. Maybe she was just over thinking things. She rubbed the top of her head and groaned, as she walked on. She was starting to see why her Papa was so paranoid. It seemed the word and bonds of loyalty in the ninja word were just fluff to fill ears with pretty words, and to induce placation. Gunnr sighed, and folded her arms, "This system... is unworthy."

Gunnr mumbled to herself. If the ninja system, rewarded such actions, then it was in itself, unworthy. If she accomplished her goals and became the Yukikage. She would break that system over her knee, and bring forth something more in line with what she would consider to be worthy of true warriors.

"Thank you for coming." the voice continued from the loudspeaker, though this time it could not be heard from the outside. "We will begin the exams now," the voice continued as if beginning a speech. "Nothing is at it seems, and yet everything is at it seems. It does not matter how you make it but that you do make it. Use your skills, your intellect, guile, and will to pass. We have faith in you, and remember, we are always watching," the voice concluded before a bright light shined from the pieces of papers they were handed. Each member who carried their paper would disappear.

After the Participants disappeared to their respected areas, the comms opened once again from inside to outside the building. "The Badger is now open to the public. All non examinees may view the exams inside. All Televisions are now set for your viewing pleasure."

With the familiar weight of my sword gone as I watched my ninja leave to their respective places I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. My mind drifted back to my first exams. I remembered the elation I got and a strong sense of personal pride when I got that 100 on the written portion of the exam. I remember the small smiley face sticker that I was handed by a rather loud and boisterous examiner. My mind drifted back to the present moment as the visitors were invited back into exam. Well, Visitor. It seemed I was the only one who was here to see how their ninja did. Good. I thought to myself, the less people here to see what my ninja were and were not capable of the better. I would walk inside and make my way to the room with the television screens. Let's see how they do.

[Chuunin Examiner]

The Badger's Den and the Platinum Tables was filled with laughter and sounds. Expressions of gambling and watching could be heard throughout the whole building. Throughout the rooms were large viewing monitors for anyone to see. Since this was in fact for the exams every person was watching. Some gambling on the side. Some monitors were designated for certain players while others had a view for all four. The main viewing however was the broadcast.

Two men in the viewing monitor dressed in their Sunday best, sitting behind an announcer's table. With an average observation someone would be able to hear what they were saying through the loud commotion within the building.

"And so we begin the Greatest Chunin Exams of all time Tim. All contestants have been separated into 3 groups. There are no teams but nothing says these people cannot work off of each other." said the clean cut Caucasian man.

"That's right Bob these exams are simple. There are various rigorous tests each chunin hopeful will take. Each test has a ranking number of 1 through 11. Standard passing is a 5 while the outstanding is an 11 which we are confident will be incredibly rare." said the more gruff looking Caucasian with a full set of beard.

"Let's take a look at our first set of contestants at what we call, the Eye Room."

Here people would see the test going through before cutting back to the announcers.

"Oh my goodness! Can you believe this!" yelled out Tim. "We have three 11 grade passing who would have imagined this!" Tim yelled out once again.

"Indeed Bob this has been an outstanding start, let's go into the replay." A replay began, they zoomed in on the members eyes as they read out the lines. "You can see how these contestants have incredible eye mouth coordination. They have eyes of a hawk."

"I know! And it just comes out so naturally as if they've been doing this all their lives. They must be wizards Tim."

"I don't know about Wizards but medical reports state that on average a good set of eyes is 20/20 vision. These three blew that statistic out of the park." Tim stopped momentarily as he placed a hand on his ear and gave a nod. "Ah it seems the "Target room" is now starting, let's take a look."

They show what happens in Destination 2.

"I am impressed, these two wizards have not only passed the test they surpassed it," Bob yelled out slamming a hand on the desk. "I haven't seen target practicing like that since my prom night with Becky."

"Ha ha, outstanding, but I'm somewhat concerned with Sand right now. Contestant 01 may have gone out of their way and outperformed beyond expectation and 06 may have done exceptionally well but he's still the only member with a score of an 8."

"Personally I'm impressed we have 3 contestants with a perfect 11, and the last time I saw a perfect 11 in a target contest was last night with my wife Becky after she asked if she looked fat in her dress and I hesitated for a second."

"Sounds like tough times, and the dog house for you."

"You know I love you Becky."

"And now we're onto the last group. Let's see how they fair?"

They show the final contestants in the Long Jump test.

"I haven't seen hops like that since 3 years ago when my mate woke up with a leech attached to him." Tim said remarking on the contestants.

"Indeed, a spectacular sport, if the Judges come back positive with the latest jump both will have a score of 11."

A moment passed before Bob raised a hand to his ear and nodded. "And we have it, the Judges are allowing what transcribed to be legal, they both passed with an 11."

"We're at the right place my lady" muttered the woman. The younger female nodded as she adjusted her robe.
'This is the first time I'm watching the Chuunins. I'm so excited!' thought Marii. There was a sincere smile at her face.

Her owl guard was in front while number two stayed behind. The young woman was sandwiched behind the duo. All three of them approached the desk.
"I'm afraid it's too late to register for the exams" informed the clerk. "Ehm - I'm here to watch my Genin" replied the Raikage.

She was wearing a blue kimono under her robes. Her hip pouch contained 6 kunais, 15 hira shurikens, 2 smoke grenades, 2 hikari bombs, a multi-tool, 2 thermal capsules, 2 bloodclot pills, 11 exploding tags and 50 senbons. Said hip pouch was hidden inside her obi.
Her field pack plus her flak jacket was left at the hotel they stayed at. There was no need to bring them here.

Her brownish-blonde hair was tied into a ballerina bun. The female had decided to wear some light makeup. Her bloodlimit was activated, but hidden by her ryuugan kai.
"Let's see if there are anyone else here who we know. Maybe someone from the Aokusa party is here" said the kuinochi.

They walked down the hallway until they reached the final room. Her owl agent checked first before opening. 'Here it goes' thought the young woman as she stepped forwards. She hoped that Ryutatsu was still alive. He was good, but so was his competitors.

Description: The second stage of the Kazeraikou doujutsu forces a temporary change of the user's eyes. The iris and pupil of the eye become one and change to a color decided at the first awakening depending on their mood. The color is like a cloud and swirls around the user's eye when looking around. Small lines of white will flash across the eyes like lightning bolts and continually do so as long as the eye is active. Also a slight glow of the eyes illuminate in the dark at this point. With the second stage of the ryuugan doujutsu unleashed, it allows the user to see the elements of lightning, air and water up to one's viewing parameters. One's natural sight is also enhanced giving the capability of 4 x zoom capabilities. The user sees the elements as three new, vibrant, and opaque colors that mesh perfectly with their normal vision, giving the user the ability to see the three elements without hindering their normal vision in the slightest. Of course normal vision can hinder this special sight, as the user cannot see through walls or other things as normal.

Drawback: The user may only learn this technique by the class that they are. This means that in order to learn the “C” Rank version they must be “C” Class, if they wish to learn the “B” Rank version they must be “B” Class.
Description: A technique where the subconscious mind, where the subconscious body reacts just as they are attacked while flanked or while their back is turn. The body reacts in such a way to where they are capable of withstanding so much. This technique makes it where the throwing specialist is incapable of being surprised attacked, a sudden second sense kicks in as their body screams out to them yelling at them telling them to move, duck, dodge or anything else within that manner. This works on whenever they are being attacked. This technique however has a major flaw. The user is capable of dodging only whenever the opponent's class is equal or lower to that of the rank of the technique they know. This means that a user that knows this technique cannot use this against an opponent that is “C” Class or higher.
Limit: Must be a throwing specialist.

I was watching these talking heads and gave a small grin as they went on about the abilities of the ninja. It was comical how blown away they were by their abilities. I guess it would make sense to see that reaction as a non ninja. This exam at first glance seems a lot easier than the previous one. But I was happy the contestants were doing well. I was relaxing in the viewing room lazily watching the TV. My posture was at ease learning forwards slumped over the back of the chair as I sat on it inversely. In my hands was a small metal shard from my weapon. I sat their twirling it around with my bloodlimit passively just passing the time. I heard several footsteps coming down the hall as well as a lot of voices. A familiar one at that. It seemed the raikage was here. Odd. She had never shown up to one of these events before. At least not the last two years of exams. Part of me wanted to inquire further, maybe make sure she didn't have any sort of other motives. Then again. I was here as well. In the end I decided to just let the sleeping dogs lie.

I paid the other visitors no mind. I would mostly be keeping to myself during these exams until they ran their course. I wasn't sure how exactly the village viewed my new position over in Suna. But I could only imagine the image the rest of the students made as they followed me to the land of wind. It probably didn't earn me many friends in Kumogakure. Then again, that didn't really bother me all that much. People talk and speculate about everything. The door opened and I simply remained watching the Tv.

The female felt her cheeks turn light pink as she saw the bar. She was DEFINITELY sticking out like a sore thumb. Moreover, several civilians were staring like her.
'Kami. I feel like a real dragon instead of a ryuugan user' thought Marii as she tried to appear composed.

'Oh well. Guess I just have to own it' concluded the young woman. Suddenly, she noticed a familiar person sitting in a chair.
'Hm...at least there is one familiar person here. But I bet he's here to watch the exams' observed the Raikage.

She suddenly recalled that he had a wife. Maybe she was a Chuunin candidate or a proctor?
'I think I'll just keep my distance for now. Shiki-san has probably smelled me already' mused the female. The light brunette walked over to a nearby booth with her guards.

"Feeling all right my lady?" inquired the other woman. "I am. Fingers crossed that we have not lost any" replied the young woman.
She leaned back while her other guard was buying some iced tea for the trio. Things were bound to get interesting.

(OOC: Making another post for anyone watching I guess. Just a way of showing how the standings are)

The Televisions continued to broadcast the showings as the two announcers made their appearance once again.

"Before the 2nd round let us cut to one of our sponsors." Bob said before the screen went black.

The commercial was two ladies on a boat in the middle of the lake. It was a young woman, and an older woman who looked quite similar. The camera zooms in to the younger woman.

"Mom? You ever feel, you know, not so fresh?"

The mom replied. "Sure," she paused briefly. "That's why I douche, but only with natural ingredients."

"What has natural ingredients?"

"Hotsprings Massengill, it has vinegar and water, or baking soda."

Then the screen panned out to just the boat while a narrator spoke. "Trust Hotsprings Massengill to make you feel natural and fresh."

The screen went to black for a moment as the two announcers made their appearance once again. "Yes that's right, Hotsprings Massengill, for the everyday freshness when you feel not so fresh," Bob said with a smile.

"Why is she having this conversation on a boat in the middle of the lake?" asked Tim somewhat dazed and confused. "Did she wait for that right moment? Couldn't sit down with her mom on the couch on a quiet day?" he continued while shaking his head.

"Who knows but I can tell you now, the 2nd rounds are beginning, and we will be taking you to the Targeting room with the first group." Bob continued.

The viewers got to see what happened.

"Our first contestent in the target room is Ryutatsu Kyoudo," said Tim in his straightforward manner.

After Ryutatsu Kyoudo performed Bob's hands were along his cheeks."My god. He may not have reached maxed score but that was incredible!" he yelled out fumbling some papers. "That man is an assassin!" he continued.

"That's right Bob this is a hopeful Cloud Ninja, and the Judges are saying he's reached a 9, which means he's done beyond recommended lengths of this spectacular showmanship." Tim said.

Afterwards it was Titania Lemegeton who performed even better. It cut back to the announcers. Papers were flying in the air as Bob shook his head in disgust. "What are you teaching these kids!" he yelled out to the cameras. "Children should not be doing this well, especially adorable kids with psychotic smiles," he continued before sitting down on his seat.

"Yes and that was a hopeful of the Sand Village, and she reached maxed points, so congrats to that young one." Tim said with a chuckle.

Then finally star came and performed.

The studio was silent. Bob seemed excited. He had seen two spectacles today and he was waiting for the third one. Sadly Kael and Kaelynn failed to deliver. That was when they all disappeared from the room. Bob was flabbergasted. Eyes narrowed as he looked over towards time. "What... what happened? Did he fart?" he asked rhetorically. "Well then, someone isn't getting laid tonight with a miss like that," Bob continued looking at his paperwork.

"Missed opportunity indeed. That could set them back a bit if they do not bring in their A game with the rest of the test. Judges are saying these are 0 marks, but let us join the 2nd group in the Jumping Room."

In the 2nd room Shoko Natamura and Inoryu Yamanaka performed their Jumps. After Inoryu Yamanaka performed his jump Bob kind of sat there and gently tapped his pen against the desk a few times. "You know I'm going to be honest. He made a passing mark with that jump but after seeing these spectacular performances, especially with Inoryu Yamanaka before I have to say I only got a half chub." Bob said somewhat disappointed.

"Yes this event has shown us how spectacular ninjas can truly be, and seeing something of passing grade just does not seem as exciting as we had hoped." Tim said in agreement.

Sadly Shoko Natamura didn't make his jump. Instead he asked a question but all was quiet before they disappeared to the next room.

"Oooo that's going to cost him. As the terms go, do, or do not, there is no try," Tim said with a half laugh.

"This is a test laddy!" Bob yelled once again. "Reminds me of the time my neighbor asked the town guards. Do you got a light for my saffron?" He shook his head. "Sometimes it's best not to ask questions."

"Indeed, and remember kids, drugs are bad for you. Now we go to the third group and see how they perform in the Deep Dive Room."

This is where the people would see the Ishikawa, Hamura and Gunnr Onta perform. First it was Gunnr Onta who dove as far as she could which excited the announcers.

"Look at her, diving like a dolphin and acting like great white after eating her fill. By George I think she's bored." Bob remarked at the woman's response to the test.

"Yes Bob I believe she's in fact in the lead with maximum points," Tim said responding to Bob.

"Wait Tim I think you got that wrong," Bob interjected. "By the looks of it Titania Lemegeton and Gunnr Onta are gunning for first with perfect marks," Bob said placing his hands on his head.

"Indeed you're right Bob, we have a 2 way tie," Tim said proudly.

"Perfect scores. I haven't seen such perfection since the night in the red district over in Water Country where I met Adrianna for the night."

"Whoa too much information there Bob, let's see what Hamura does."

"Let's just say she topped marks in flexibility."

After Hamura performed the two announcers were continuing their hype. "Amazing. We thought we'd have a three way tie but no we currently have a two way second place with Ishikawa, Hamura and Ryutatsu Kyoudo." Tim said neatly placing his papers.

"Hamura scored a 9 like a fat kid in a candy shop, spectacular showmanship." Bob responded.

"What? Commercial break? Jeezes..." muttered the female as she saw the commercial with the two women.
Her guard returned with the iced tea. He poured three cups for the trio before he sat down himself.

The show returned a little bit later. Marii leaned forwards when the hosts mentioned the name of her Genin. "Yes!" whispered the young woman with a grin on her face. Not only was he alive, he got a high score too! He did not look physically injured either.

Next up was Hamura. She saw him compete with a familiar blonde girl.
'Was not Gunnr at the kage summit? I think she was with the Yukikage' recalled the Raikage. She smiled when the duo got their results.

'Well well. Looks like we may have two Chuunins at the end of this year' concluded the female. "Cheers for our Genins" muttered the brunette and raised her glass.
Her guards raised their glasses as well. The trio took a good sip of ice tea while they kept watching the show.

Small lines of white will flash across the eyes like lightning bolts and continually do so as long as the eye is active. Also a slight glow of the eyes illuminate in the dark at this point. With the second stage of the ryuugan doujutsu unleashed, it allows the user to see the elements of lightning, air and water up to one's viewing parameters. One's natural sight is also enhanced giving the capability of 4 x zoom capabilities. The user sees the elements as three new, vibrant, and opaque colors that mesh perfectly with their normal vision, giving the user the ability to see the three elements without hindering their normal vision in the slightest. Of course normal vision can hinder this special sight, as the user cannot see through walls or other things as normal.

Description: A technique where the subconscious mind, where the subconscious body reacts just as they are attacked while flanked or while their back is turn. The body reacts in such a way to where they are capable of withstanding so much. This technique makes it where the throwing specialist is incapable of being surprised attacked, a sudden second sense kicks in as their body screams out to them yelling at them telling them to move, duck, dodge or anything else within that manner. This works on whenever they are being attacked. This technique however has a major flaw. The user is capable of dodging only whenever the opponent's class is equal or lower to that of the rank of the technique they know. This means that a user that knows this technique cannot use this against an opponent that is “C” Class or higher.

I sat there for a moment as I listened to the advertisements prattle on about hygiene products. I took a moment and started watching the events take place. My ears twitched ever so slightly as I picked up on what the Raikage was so animated about and watched the events myself. I masked my emotions watching some of my students both do well and run into issues alike. Afterwards I'd need to make a short report for them to start plotting on how to improve.

"And we're back with another exciting round of "The Greatest Chunins of all Time," Tim said loudly. "I'm your host Tim McKinzie, and my co host is Bob Miller.

Bob quickly closed what looked like a flask and placed it in his coat pocket. "Cheers love," he said with a smile and a thumbs up. "We're onto our third round, let's see what these children of death and carnage can do," he continued.

"Haha, carnage indeed. So far we've been incredibly impressed with the participants. Some taking chances to where they worked," they showed a clip of one Shoko Natamura diving further than he should have. "While others, not so much," they showed a clip of Kael and Kaelynn punching air as a replay and nothing happening.

"Now let's begin the third round, and oh look at that, the child of death begins," Bob said loudly as the third round began.

This is where everyone would see the exams from Destination 3 to Destination 5.

"Now we're in the Jumping Room let's see how the participants pan out." Tim said. When the child essentially explodes herself and essentially slid for 2 meters there was a deathly silence in the studio.

Bob reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his flask before taking a sip and handing it over to Tim. Tim instinctively took it, took a sip and handed it back to Bob.

"What the hell was that?" Bob asked.

"I have no idea," Tim responded. "But, the Judges are giving her an extra point, giving a 6 total," he continued looking down at his paperwork.

"Well, Daiymos, Lords, and other Mission goers, you should be happy that a child is willing to blow herself up. It means she's willing to make sure the mission succeeds, even by sacrificing her body," Bob said in disbelief.

Then Ryutatsu Kyoudo, and Kael and Kaelynn came up and made their jump. It seemed that the air changed once again within the studio as the two hosts laughed and cheered.

"Outstanding, we're back to seeing true professionalism." Tim Responded. "Cloud and Sand must be extremely satisfied with the results of their ninjas in these set of Exams." he continued before looking at Bob.

"Indeed Tim, more so Cloud though, I mean Ryutatsu Kyoudo has met every match with precision and accuracy. Sand is doing well but it seems like every ninja has done something a little unorthodox, Punching air, not completing a task, and then now, exploding one self. If anything, these kids are persistent. Hell as persistent as my dog trying to mate with my right leg."

"Well Bob it seems that both Ryutatsu Kyoudo, and Kael and Kaelynn have received full marks, and I hope your leg gets checked," Tim said with a chuckle.

"Always the right one too, I just don't know."

In Destination 4 was Shoko Natamura and Inoryu Yamanaka.

"Ah yes, the Swimming Room," Tim said before looking at his papers for a brief moment. "All eyes are on Shoko Natamura as he's the one lagging behind the most. This room could very well make him, or break him," he continued.

"Let's see if he can hold his breath longer than this woman I knew at a pull party playing a round of "rainbow".

"First up Shoko Natamura."

When Shoko Natamura came and went there was a shock and aw within the booth.

"Bloody amazing, he sacrificed his body to get as far as he could," Bob said loudly.

"Indeed he sacrificed his body to go further than normally allowed, truly amazing, and the judges are awarding 10 points which gets him in the passing zone." Tim responded.

"He dove down like a newborn guppy, excited to see the world."

When Inoryu Yamanaka dove and came back up there was a smile on Bob's face.

"See that, a Ninja knows his limitations and went as far as he was willing to go, no shame in that," he said in response.

"That's right Bob, and the Judges are awarding him with a 5 to his marks. Remember, these tests are meant to measure a Ninja's ability. A ninja needs to know how far they can go, and how far are they willing to go. There is a line there and it is different between each ninja. Do not take these 11 points for granted because not everyone can go that far. So far, we've been impressed as this seems to be a cream of the crop."

"Aye this is both amazing and terrifying to watch."

"Now we go into the last new room, the Ninja room."

Here is where Gunnr Onta and Hamura Ishikawa would continue with their test.

"This, is the Ninja Room. This room is intended to test a Ninja's all around skills. Their task is simple, retrieve the Scroll, held by the man in the center of the room. How they do it is up to them. How Judges judge is dependent on how well they do it. There are no other rules." Tim said explaining the situation.

"That's incredibly vague, like the first time trying to unhook a bra. It doesn't matter how you do it, just get it done huh," Bob said with a laugh.

Sadly there was no commentary within this room. It would seem that the announcers did not want to give anything away. Instead Tim would announce the scores of each one. Gunnr Onta with a 9 while Hamura Ishikawa received an 8.

"Whoa. The tests have changed a lot since I became a Chuunin" muttered the woman. The man at the other side of the table nodded in agreement.
"I second that" replied the female. She hoped that her shinobis would be able to pass the exams.

A smile formed on her lips when the host said that Kumogakure and Sunagakure ought to be proud.
'I have to say, they're doing great. Nobody seems to be seriously injured or anything. But the exams are not complete yet' thought Marii.

Ryutatsu was doing very well so far. Same could be said for Hamura. The last test intrigued her.
'Hm...this is quite similar to retrieval missions. I wonder how they will solve this task' pondered the young woman.

Description: Relevant Abilities: Perception Skill. Die Rolls: 5 Die Rolls. Check Requirement: Never. The character can tell what other characters are saying, even if they cannot hear them. Of course, the user must be fluent in the language of the observed speaker. On a successful skill check, the character discerns part of the conversation (because some sounds are much like others, lip readers never understand a full 100%). The speaker must be mostly facing the lip reader (at least a 3/4 view). If the skill check fails, nothing is learned. User must maintain line of sight to the lips being read. User makes an Observation check.
Limit: Must learn from Skills. Must know Observation.

    Inoryu would be transported to the badger's entrance just beyond the security check which meant he could roam The Badger freely. Before he left The Land of Tea, there were a couple of things he wanted to learn about the country. One: he wanted to taste The Badger's famous spiced boar, and two: he wanted to learn a little bit about the country's government. At The Badger, he would be able kill two birds with one stone.

    He would make his way into the hallway and find a dining room that was somewhat lively with a nice social atmosphere. It was less rowdy compared to the shouts and laughter from the next room over.  He could hear so many conversations at once as well as music from another room that it was hard to discern any particular conversation. He would take a seat at an empty table.

    In front of him, a young woman with wavy black hair wearing a floral blouse and black skirt, had lavender eyes that mingled with the young man beside her. Inoryu focused solely on her lips and watched as her mouth  formed words and make gestures. He would be patient as he honed in on her conversation. He would intuitively pick up the letters by the formation of her lips. She was laughing heartily now and obviously ordering a drink and the man picked up her tab. She laughed again before taking a sip from her glass, rose colored lipstick staining the edge of it before setting it down and turning to the counter. Her wavy black hair running down her womanly figure and concealing her conversation from him.

    Inoryu's attention focused on the man beside her. He wore a loose-fitted ruby shirt with a necklace of black rope and a tooth. He had tan, unruly hair that was just a couple of inches long, dark brown eyes that was almost as dark as his pants, an athletic body. By observing his body language, Inoryu noted that he maintained a closeness, standing less than a meter from her while facing her. When she laughed he would smile at her and inch closer as if leaning in for a kiss, but he repeatedly stopped his advance. It was obvious he wanted to make sexual advances, though that did not tell anything about their relationship. He would try to decipher their conversation a bit more. The man was speaking, though Inoryu couldn't quite pick up what he was saying.

    The noise of The Badger made it easy to tune out and though he was focused, he couldn't ignore two guys who had approached him, "Hey good job man! You've been made into a Chunin, Why don't you have a drink with us?"

    Inoryu would reply, "Thanks but I am only 19. I only stayed for the boar."

    "Aw, that's no fun! How about a game of dice?" The other man asked.

    "Thanks, but I'm really only here to eat," Inoryu said.

    "Well, here here," the other man said before they went back to their night.

   

    Inoryu would return to the man and woman before him and begin to make out words from their conversation, "Yesterday," and "Today." The man nodded his tan, unruly head. Inoryu would pick up another word from him, "Again." Inoryu would take a break from lip reading to address his waiter and order the famed boar.

    As the waiter returned to the kitchen down the hall, Inoryu would pick up more words from those two's conversation, "slipped" and "overcome," from the male and "tedious" from the female. She was laughing again and the man leaned in slightly closer. This time they would close their eyes their lips would touch and he his right hand would caress the side of her head. Soon after, the female would lead him out from the room. Such a useful skill reading lips was. He knew that it would give him advantages in his line of work so he would continue to practice it inconspicuously as he waited for the roasted boar.

    He found three new targets, the three men who had approached him earlier, playing a game of dice. He had a clear view of all of their mouths across the room, so he would try to discern the conversation between them. "Aww!" one shouted and could be heard over the noise of the room before his words would again be lower than the volume of the atmosphere. Inoryu would pick up words such as "Luck" and "Ones" from him, and "Oh yeah?" from another. He would pick up a number from the third man, "200."

    Though he was beginning to pick up words, his understanding of the conversation was still incoherent. While he picked up words, he would still see visual sentences of many words he missed. He picked up a new word from the man with the shaved head, "Absolutely." The middle aged man sitting beside him would nod his head but Inoryu couldn't make out any words. The man with the shaved head appeared offended but he took the dice and rolled them. His anger turned into laughter.

    Minutes rolled by like the die between the three men, "For fuck's sake!" Inoryu was clearly able to pick up by lip reading the man with the shaved head. He pulled out a purple rope garment that he wore on his head and said words such as "If...ain't lucky..." and "Forget it." The man sitting between them picked up the die, rolled them in his hand, and loosed them on the gambling table. He grinned at the result and Ryo was transferred between them. 

    Inoryu watched another round of this and picked up a name, "Gosei." It was the name of the man wearing the head garment and shaved head. He wore a lavender robe, tied at the waist with a sash and light brown shorts. Inoryu guessed that he was a fisherman. Gosei was saying words such as "Out of luck" and "Time is running short."

    The other man began and Inoryu was able to discern a whole phrase, "I'll put down 500 Ryo, Kuroshi?" He turned to the man on his left who slammed down bills of ryo, "1,000!" The last man, whose name Inoryu had yet to pick up replied, "Match," and placed coins on the table. The man who was yet unnamed rolled the die. Due to the results, the unnamed man took the winnings. Gosei was getting up to leave, and Inoryu's food had arrived.

    Inoryu would bite into the boar and be tremendously pleased. The aroma, the sweet and savory taste was truly worthy of its fame. He would pause training and focus on his meal instead for the next thirty minutes. The meal was also some self indulgence for having earned the rank of Chunin. Each bite of boar and rice seemed to be better than the last. When he finished his meal, he leaned back in his seat. 

    He was able to pick up conversations around him easier despite the chatter. Two women across the room to the left had said, "I couldn't" and laughed. The woman beside her would nod her head and say "Yeah, couldn't." Inoryu would watch their mouths move intently for any more words he could pick up. They would go on to say "Swamped" and "tons of paperwork".

    The other female would rest her head on her knuckles and her reply was yet unclear with words like, "another bank account." Their mouths moved for a few seconds without Inoryu picking up any words, but he was patient. Soon he picked up the words "such a creep" and "What a sleezeball." They continued to gossip and one of the women ordered another drink. She sipped through the straw for the pink liquid in her glass cup.

Titania appeared back in the bar where this all started. It was as if hardly any time had really passed. Her eyes faded from their wine red cast to the natural blue as exhaustion set into her bones. Magic energy wasnt a problem, but at this point she couldnt muster the mental focus to maintain it.

She dragged herself wearily tp the table whete her commander sat with another woman - a noblewoman if the bodyguards were anything to judge by - leaned her rifle against the table, and melted into a chair.

Just sitting down on a cushioned surface was heaven. She nearly passed out just from how comfortable it was.

"Taking your new girlfriend home with us, Commander?" she joked, chuckling lightly to herself. That small giggle became a gasping wheeze on the spot. Too tired to laugh.

    The waiter came to refill Inoryu's water and Inoryu would ask for the check. The polite waiter would retrieve the check and return minutes later to hand it to Inoryu. The chunin would continue to lip read on the female's conversation. She seemed to be speaking quickly, a possible effect of the alcohol. It made it harder to decipher her speech and he could pick up nothing.

    The other woman she was speaking to wasn't speaking so fast. She had a more laid back speech pattern which, for the time being, made her lips easier to read. Inoryu picked up a phrase, "belonged to my sister." The woman beside her listening began to rock slightly on her feet. She definitely appeared to be drunk with the way she was swaying.

    She smiled and got in her friends face while grabbing her wrist, "Let's dance!" Inoryu lip read. The girl pulled her friend from the stool and they exited the room. Inoryu would spot others and tune into their conversations as well. He focused on the family of four sitting at the table eating a large order of roast boar.
