Mystique listened to the man speak, bewildered, and could not contain her excitement. It seemed that Rael was more than she had imagined -- oh, how she loved her job. "Or so you thought that you had killed him," she said, "but it turns out not to be so. I'm not sure why or how, it was not explained to me. Only what I told you before. That men who avoid death have often expereinced it frequently. An odd riddle... but the spirits are funny. Perhaps death does something to our minds when we pass over?" Mystique looked into the left corner of her eyes and seemed to contemplate this. She looked back at Rael and said, "No, she did not mention what it was exactly that they sold, but told me of the temple immediately after. I think there you will discover what you seek. As for the eyes, I can't decipher that one Rael. Only you can truly understand the messages that your mother left for you." It had been rather kind of her, considering the situation that had caused her death...
She then told Rael not to leave, saying that she had one last thing for him. She stood up and reached back into the hidden door where she pulled out a set of pages that appeared as if they could be added to a book. At the top of the first page was written in beautiful penmanship: "Soul Guard." Inside these pages detailed all of the workings of the ritual and how one could go about learning and performing it. Mystique handed the pages to Rael and said, "Take this. I've got more transcribed. With this hopefully you won't die so easily as you go out on your mission. Keep this in mind next time I call on you Rael. Not only did I give you this information, but also this gift. It isn't for free." But even as she said this, Mystique smiled.
"But, I do believe you are a man of your word."
The shadow ran down the alleyway but it appeared that the two men were already long gone. Luckily there were not many other directions to go so it would only weave along the single corridor for a couple of minutes before coming to a split in the alley. One way seemed to go further into the city, while the other headed for what Rael would know to be a batch of woods on the border of the Leaf Village where few people went. He would need to determine yet another way of discovering his companion, and who knew what was happening to him in the meantime?
