A shy, hesitant smile emerged from the Kamyuja's lips.
“I was talking about a past era when a woman's life was much harder than it is now. Things have changed. My choices, my actions, are my own and I need not seek a man's approval now. I may sound rebellious, but I believe in free will, which I did not have before. So now, I have taken a different course, one I have chosen, not based on what is asked of me or what is ordered.” She picked up her cup of tea after swallowing her bitten fruit and took a sip. The harsh flavour did not agree with her and she placed the cup back down with a disgusted face.
“Ugh, it would seem the flavour has not improved much in recent years.” She picked up a cloth and dabbed her lips.
She returned to smiling as she finished her fruit. Finding herself enjoying the moment. It would seem they had a similar goal in mind. ‘No, never forget.’ she too thought as she watch his knuckles tense up in agitation. She knew about a painful past. She swallowed, place the pip of the leftover peach into an empty bowl that was used for removal and frowned, falling deep into thought. After much consideration, she came to reply.
“Oh let’s just say that the age I am from the air was much fresher. There were more trees and less modernised buildings. People walked or pulled carts. Hmph. I remember living in a small building, which reminded me of a hole with sandstone walls and a creaky door. But then time changes to that of wealth and gold, silver replaced clay.” She smiled and ordered a cup of Sake.
“Sweet, not bitter, dearie. And may we have some chocolates, please? They were a rare delicacy in my time. Only the rich were allowed to dine on chocolate.”
After a while, as the subject of the topic changed, she nodded and came to realise that they truly wanted something similar.
The term 'parental problems' certainly makes sense. This seems to be a difficult topic to discuss. Seeing as my parents are dead. I haven't seen them in a very long time. I seek revenge. My wish is to kill the man who took them away from me. But to make this happen, I must have power. This man has grown too powerful for me. My current state, damn it all!” She slammed her hand on the table in a fit of rage, only coming to realise at the last second her mistake. Biting her lower lip, she heard the wood fracture under her force. The dishes flying everywhere. ‘Bugger.’
Once things settled down, she muttered: “I feel we require a different table.”
She remained on her mat, however, resting her head in her hands in frustration before looking back up at him. His question catching her off guard. ‘Why, why indeed?’ she thought before opening her mouth.
“You do not ask simple questions, Rael. Why indeed. I suppose I choose Konoha because I liked the climate. I was torn. I had the choice to return to my homeland of Sunagakure, I had the choice to join Kaminari no Sato and sometimes wish I had. But Konoha is beautiful. Hidden. The smell of oxygen is strong. I do not know why I decided to become a kunoichi. If I had to consider why I would say because I wanted to. The thrill, excitement. The missions are never the same, though I would not know. I have not been on one yet. But I am sure you can understand my reasoning. Why you? Were you born here? I can agree with you about being under the strain of not leading. But why did you decide to join the military?”
Now that was a question she had pounded on for a while now. Why.
