Miyako gazed around the room, looking first at the four mirrors on the ceiling, and than at the pictures. The numbers weren't straight 1, 2, 3 in a row, weren't a steady stream of numbers, and immediately, not waiting to listen to Kagetora speak, walked over to them carefully. The way the numbers jumped up in odd sets in their climax made her begin to attempt to pick out a pattern.
She heard Kagetora speak that she should check out the pictures, and she waved it off, already doing that exact thing. She put up her hands, spreading the fingers as she began to count, muttering quietly to herself. She wished she had a piece of chalk or something that she could use to write with on the stone floor, so she wouldn't have to work as hard, work to keep the numbers she got in her head without forgetting them.
"Begin... Three, three, two, two, one, one, one, one, one, one, three, four, five, four, two, three, six, three, five, seven, eight, six... End..." that was the pattern she saw, the plus a number to get to the next number. She could see a little pattern like that, how the numbers group up evenly at the beginning and began to get out of place near the end. She reached out and grasped the bottom edge of the portrait depicting age twenty-one, pulling it forward. One, to see if it could come off the wall, and two, to see how it was attached, if she could put it back on the wall if she so chose.
If it came off, she would begin to take them all off, and see if there was anything behind them. She could always put them back. And if it didn't work, or did, she would be prepared for a trap and ready to spring backwards at any second from any of the portraits.
[lol xD As long as you're not scared on me xD lol. Yes, it does remind me of the mirror... What do you see? lol. Oh, and your posts entertain me, Kage ]
