Sano shook his body attempting to loosen every muscle inside him. His mind recounted every single word that his father had expressed to him earlier. The patriarch of his household was very talented with ninjutsu and it was his father’s help that had given him much of what he knew today. It was also his father’s words that had him out in the middle of this field training. Sano had expressed his desire to master the wind release and his father having learned that technique already described to Sano exactly what the genin would need to do if he wanted to accomplish wind mastery. Sano had always been gifted with sound due to his bloodline and water had almost come naturally for someone raised in the village of the mist. Wind was something he needed to learn and as he discussed it with his father it seemed it wasn’t as simple as practicing jutsus. With techniques such as that all Sano had to do was go over the steps again and again and continue repeating them until he had the whole process down completely. The Fuuton release was a bit more complicated. From how it was explained to him learning to use these types was almost like a state of being. One couldn’t use wind until they had understood it.

His understanding of what he needed to do was what brought him to his current location. He stood atop one of the hills surrounding the village, the peak just barely breaking free of constant flow of mist that concealed the village’s location. Atop the hill rise the wind blew stronger its gusts tugging at his clothes as they were blown around his body. This sort of place wasn’t necessary for what he wanted to accomplish, but Sano truly believed it would help him get in the right mindset. For what seemed like an eternity Sano allowed the wind to swirl around him, to sway his body in its almost unyielding might. The genin let his mind wrap around the essence of the wind. He let his chakra flow and as it did he molded it so that it almost resembled the way the wind carried. He recognized that the wind had its own unique nature. The wind could be as gentle as a spring breeze or as fierce and powerful as a hurricane. Wind could be a force of nurturing comfort to a flower or a destroying gale that could leave a village in ruins.

Sano was quickly learning something as he stood there against the unrelenting push of the wind. The wind came forth with its own agenda and nothing Sano could have done would have changed that. Sano could have erected a wall and the wind would have simply flowed around it and resumed its course. Even he was just a minor obstacle as the wind moved against him and then around him. The genin began to understand what his father had talked about. The wind was not something a person could control, but rather guide. Sano could learn to use the wind not like a master forcing its slave, but as something to be worked with. Sano wasn’t exactly where to go next with his line of reasoning, but it was a start. Sano moved his chakra so that it ran with the wind. The young boy didn’t capture the wind like some of his jutsus might require. Rather he let his chakra flow off him and mingle with it almost is if the wind was picking it up and carrying it. Through this way Sano truly believed he was making some progress to learning how to use fuuton no jutsu.

Sano could feel his chakra blowing through him like the gust of wind that formed at the crescent of the hill he now stood on. Sano held it for as long as he could, but eventually that fine control slipped from him. Sano let out a sigh half in relief and half in frustration. The young genin would have liked to of been able to hold onto that control for a bit longer, but he knew that it was impossible for him at the moment. He was still starting out on this path of the shinobi and he had a long way to go before he could simply master a release in one attempt. Sano just didn’t have the chakra control to be able to do such and he definitely didn’t have the sheer amount of chakra needed to simply master all of a releases jutsus either. Logic and the relieved side of him won over. The Shitakuma boy was able to fully understand his father’s teachings. He no longer needed to grope around for answers. This knowledge washed away any concerns Sano might have had for not being able to hold onto the wind release for longer. At least now it would not take him as long to being able to morph his chakra once more so that it could work with wind.

Sano allowed himself to take deep breaths. He inhaled and exhaled slowly letting the oxygen fill up his lungs in large swallows as it was carried up to his mouth by the heavy winds. When his breathing had become regulated and deep he allowed his muscles to almost go limp. His arms swayed behind him as the wind picked them up and dragged them away from his body. His legs formed tree trunks barely keeping him rooted to the ground as the wind whipped around his body. When Sano was certain he was no longer fighting the wind, but practically moving with it he began to channel the chakra inside his body. First the boy fell into himself picturing the small flame that centered in his being, where his chakra was located. He pictured it spilling forth like a cup filled too high. However, when it reached the routes that would break off into his chakra circulatory system he didn’t try to persuade it to go in any certain direction. Instead he let the chakra spin off in whatever direction it desired. He allowed the chakra to run through his body of its own volition as if it were the wind that moved around his body.

He could almost feel the wind pick up on what he was doing. The gale churned around him taking in the wafts of chakra that floated out of his pores and spreading it along the grass that surrounded him atop the hill. It was a surreal feeling being taken in by the wind as he was. It almost felt like at any minute the wind could just pick him up and take him wherever it felt like in that moment. Though Sano was fatally devoted to his village even he had to admit that the concept had some appeal to it. Sano embraced that feeling and he pumped more chakra throughout his body. He let it flow through him and whip around him like wind. Once more he could feel himself truly becoming closer to mastering the wind release. Sano didn’t think of how much longer he needed to do this in order to learn what he must. Instead Sano simply enjoyed the experience taking in the sensation as chakra became one with the wind.

Once more he could not hold onto that feeling of being lost in the wind for very long. In what seemed to be in a flash he was suddenly caught off from the wind and he opened his eyes to scan his surroundings. He was still alone on the hill the grass swaying around him as the wind funneled up the hill pushing grass and his clothing in the direction it was moving in. Sano allowed himself to inhale deeply his lungs filling with the fresh air that the powerful winds brought up. It was shame that he was cut off so soon, but he could feel himself being even closer then his first attempt. Sano was sure that he was now on his way to learning this release. It would still be a little while before he would completely master it since he still would need to learn more jutsus revolving it, but at least he would be able to perform them now. Sano wanted to broaden his capabilities and learning the wind element would grant him that. From there Sano had plans to learn the ice release. Sano couldn’t help, but contemplate the sort of strategies he could use in battle if he mastered these releases. This daydreaming easily fueled the flames of his desire and he once more did his best to calm his mind so he could train.

As antsy as he was it was a bit more difficult to become relaxed once more. The young boy ended up having to jump up and down a few times while swaying his body back and forth to completely relax his muscles. When he was sure that all the rigidness was gone from his body he closed his eyes and began to center himself inside the gales that rose up the hill. Though he didn’t need to see he shut his eyes any way in order to help relax his body. He shut off all his senses except the one that sensed the wind moving around his body. He fell completely into that sensation letting the wind swirl around him completely circling him before joining back together as one force and going back on its way. Sano was hoping that after this he would be able to move onto actual fuuton jutsu and he poured all that desire into his focus and concentration. Sano delved deep into his body until the depiction of his chakra, a small flame, burst to life. He focused on that flame and he let the wind whisper to it. This time around his channeling was a bit different, more powerful. His training had paid off and no longer did it just seem like his chakra was moving with the wind, but something much more.

To Sano it almost felt like the wind was empowering him. It was as if his chakra was true fire. The wind could have easily quenched a starting flame, but the wind could also ignite it. Without wind, without oxygen, a flame could not survive. Already he felt his chakra moving, springing to life, and being taken by the wind. He felt it swirl up around him whipping through the channels of his body as the wind morphed around him. For the third time since he began this training Sano felt himself become one with the wind. It was an odd sort of feeling, but Sano had grown used to it in the past few attempts, he was beginning to enjoy it. Sano held on to that feeling for as long as he could as he channeled the chakra through his body and through the wind.

Sano couldn’t help, but silently curse to himself as his connection suddenly broke off. The success he thought was going to achieve didn’t exactly occur. However, Sano could sense that he was intensely close. How close he was partly frustrated him and partly assured him that in the next attempt he would most definitely succeed. Sano wasted no time. His chakra was still flowing through his body with ease and despite his momentary loss in concentration he could still feel a close connection with the wind. Sano would simply need to reconnect himself with the essence of the wind and he was sure this time he would not fail. Sano focused on his chakra and then opened up his senses to the wind that whistled around him. The young boy let his chakra be picked up by the wind. Mixing his chakra with the wind came quickly and easily to him this time. What Sano focused on this time around was merely holding focus. Every time he had failed it was because he had lost his concentration somehow. This time Sano made sure to hold every fiber of his being on this one moment and focus on the wind as it channeled through him and became one with his chakra.

Fuuton: Suiran Reppu (Wind Release: Verdant Mountain's Violent Wind)

Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: A wind technique using winds to lift and control a certain amount of weapons or people using powerful and at some points violent winds after utilizing the wind release. However, this can only be done to a certain extent.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: Must be learned multiple times, last handseal must be held for the technique to work. Once the seal is broken the technique will end.
Description: Performing the necessary handseals, the user will affix their wind release chakra and summon a small to large amount of powerful wind around a certain number of objects. At this point they can be suspended and controlled, moved through the air. However, the ability and amount of things possible to be moved varies along the rank learned for the technique. The winds if commanded can be very dangerous at any point in time, however it may only maim or move. When first learned at "D" Rank, the user is capable of having lifting a total of 10lbs. When dealing with weaponry, the weight of each weapon will be added together to result in the max; same with shinobi. When "C" Rank is reached the user is capable of lifting 50lbs. At "B" Rank, 200; At "A" Rank, 500; and finally at "S" Rank, 1000lbs.

Sano moved down the hill getting away from the powerful winds that were moving in the slightly higher altitude. It wasn’t that he hadn’t enjoyed his time up there, but now that he had learned the fuuton release he wanted to perform some jutsu that his father had described in much detail to him. If Sano was going to learn these jutsus he wanted to confirm that it was his own strength manipulating the winds. If he were to perform something that would cause a strong gale it would be impossible for him to tell whether it was his own strength or merely a more powerful then normal gust. The next jutsu that he wanted to learn would give him some control over the wind and would allow him to lift minor objects up into the air. Seeing as how he would be using very light items it would be in his best interest to go somewhere that will force him to actually use the jutsu instead of relying on just a rare gust of wind.

Sano took the senbon needles that he carried with him at all times and he threw them over the grass the light breeze helping to scatter them. When he had spaced them out enough he moved so he was standing a few feet away from them. With all the preparations made Sano concentrated on what his father had explained to him. Now that he had learned the fuuton release there were a few jutsus that were available to him. From what he had heard when his father had described these D-rank jutsus all would be highly useful in a field situation. This particular jutsu that he was attempting to learn would essentially allow him to use the wind to capture items, or even people at the later levels, and carry them around via the wind. Sano was hoping to eventually get to the level of being able to throw even a team of shinobi around, but for starters he would use something small like the senbon needles.

With everything prepared and he standing in the right position he blew out the air in his lungs and began to follow the steps his father had outlined for him one by one. The first thing the young genin had to do was channel his wind chakra. Having just learned the fuuton release Sano was still unsure how capable he would be at bringing up that sort of energy so soon, but he was banking on it at this moment. He brought out the chakra and let it flood through his circulatory system. When he had properly brought out his chakra he then channeled it into the wind itself. It took him a second, but he felt himself take control of the wind that had surrounded him. By flexing his chakra he manipulated the wind so that it moved underneath the weapons.

The senbon needles jingled and shivered as the wind gently began rocking them skyward. It was difficult and slow at first, but soon Sano was able to sense the needles rising, he could feel his chakra lifting them up. With a powerful exhale Sano flexed his hands outward and sent the needles flying with a small gust. Or at least that was the plan. If he truly had learned the technique the needles would let fly and he would have learned this beginner jutsu.

Fuuton Kaze no Senbon (Needles of the Wind)

Effect: User hurls a mixture of senbon needles in the form of wind to cut into the opponent.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: ---
Description: The ninja gathers air with his hands and mixes it with chakra, by doing this he transforms them into sharp and deadly needles. The needles are almost invisible so it is hard for the enemies to see them. This technique may be blocked by large objects, however something small such as a sword, or a staff will allow the needles to seperate still moving towards the object it was originally sent to. Not a powerful technique as the user is capable of hurling up to ten senbon wind needles that gives out minor cuts. However this could be used as a more of a set up technique to allow the user to perform a more dangerous technique.
Limit: Must have the Wind Release

Sano breathed out easily as he moved around and picked up all the senbon needles that lay scattered against tree trunks and at the bottom of rocks. Seems as if his jutsu had worked. The young boy was glad to see that his training in Fuuton jutsu was coming around nicely. Sano still had a ways to go before he could say he mastered it, but it had opened up a whole new avenue for him. There was still many more D-ranked Fuuton jutsus his father had described and Sano didn’t plan on leaving this field until he had learned them all. If he was going to be useful in the missions to come, missions that would actually help the village, he would need to be prepared for combat. This next jutsu wouldn’t be lethal, but it would most definitely help him in a fight. It would allow him to create senbon needles out of air and use them to deadly effect.

Sano had worked the scenarios over and over again in his mind. The young shinobi would have preferred to use the real deal seeing as they wouldn’t waste what little chakra a green shinobi like himself might have, but he understood the value in what sort of strategies this new jutsu might bring. The Shitakuma clansman thought back to how his father had described this particular jutsu. After playing back the words again and again in his mind he set out to perform the technique.

Sano would need to gather chakra and fuse it with the wind itself if he wished to perform this particular jutsu. In preparation Sano began to breathe in and out taking deep breaths so that the muscles in his body would become relaxed. Sano found that it was much easier to summon up the chakra he needed to perform jutsu he had never accomplished before if he first relaxed himself. When Sano felt that he had gotten his body in a comfortable state he focused on his inner self. Like he always did when pulling forth his chakra he pictured the flame in which all academies used to symbolize the chakra that was stored in everyone’s body. Sano pictured that flame igniting higher fueled by his will. He then pushed his chakra through his circulatory system directing it towards his fingers. It took a few moments longer then the genin would have liked, but eventually he could feel his fingertips warming up a sign that his chakra had begun to pool there properly.

With his chakra now gathered as he wished he moved his hands gently through the air. Sano concentrated on flowing the chakra out of the pores in his fingertips and having it mingle with the air around him. He felt the wind cling to his chakra as if his fingers had glue on them. When Sano had gathered enough air he began to exert his will on it so that it would change shape for him. He had yet to perform such a jutsu that would change the actual shape of wind itself, but slowly it began to contort to how he desired. Being as close as he was and accompanied by the fact that he knew just what he was looking for Sano was able to see the small needles that had formed by his fingertips. They were almost indistinguishable from the very wind and air that moved around him and Sano was certain it wouldn’t be easy for another shinobi to notice them either. Now with the formation of the jutsu completed Sano juts needed to use it. The young boy flung his fingers out launching the small wind needles against a tree. They would undoubtedly disappear once they collided, but any scratches to the bark would be left behind.

Sano watched as the wind slashed against the trees. However, the jutsu wasn’t as successful as Sano had hoped. The young genin couldn’t help, but notice that some of the wind senbon needles merely dispersed into nothingness as the struck the tough exterior of the trees. Sano shrugged with a sigh as he realized that he hadn’t yet mastered the jutsu. The Shitakuma clansman was used to these minor failures so he wasn’t put off by it, but it did mean he would have to continue practicing until all the needles struck the trees and ripped off at least some bark. Sano took his bearings on what trees had been successfully cut and what trees had not and then mentally prepared himself to perform the jutsu once more.

Sano was still pretty relaxed from his previous attempt so it wasn’t hard for him to loosen his muscles and joints. When Sano was comfortable he began to concentrate. Chakra was still pumping through his body fairly well so thankfully the genin did not have to re-sense his chakra and call it forth once more. Instead Sano focused on the chakra already moving through his circulatory system and guided it towards his hands and fingers. When his hands tingled with the chakra gathering he began moving it through the air. Wind swirled around his hands, gathering with ease that told his practice had paid off. When the wind felt like a sharper cold against his warm fingers he molded his chakra around the wind that had been collected and molded it. Seconds later his senses could pick up the faint needles that were a bit more visible while using his echolocation. Sano flexed his fingers and the needles then launched out around him. This time hopefully the jutsu would be a complete success.

Kaze Ya no Jutsu (Wind Arrow Technique)

Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: User is capable of breathing inwards and exerting outwards a large like arrow to pierce into the opponent's body.
Special: User takes in a deep breathe filling their lungs with air.
Drawback: Only one may be created at a time.
Description: The user molds chakra and breathes in. He or she then blows out and an arrow made of wind is shot from the user’s mouth. This arrow may be blocked as it is just a large consumption of wind, however it can not be deflected away. This means that the object must be large in size enough to defend from one against the wind. The size of the arrow is the size of the opponent's mouth with the length of three feet as it can travel up to the distance of twenty meters. This technique is used for short range to steer an opponent away from the user.
Limit: Must have the Wind Release

This time the trees he had selected for his jutsu gained deep gashes as they were struck by his wind senbon needles. Sano nodded his head appreciating his success for what it was, a minor step in his road to becoming a strong shinobi. He had been taking his time while learning this ninjutsu and thanks to it he still had plenty of chakra left. It was dangerous for a shinobi as low of a rank as he to continually practice ninjutsu as he was, but he had been resting in between attempts and Sano was confident he would recognize when his body had done too much. Instead of relaxing Sano mulled over which fuuton jutsu he would move on to next. His father had really only gone over D-rank jutsu, the man clearly knew Sano’s limitations better then he did. It took Sano a good moment, but after going over each jutsu explained to him Sano figured which would be the best to learn next.

Sano had decided on a jutsu that would allow him to create an arrow out of air. It was very similar to the ninjutsu he had just performed and thus Sano was hoping that he would be able to pick up on it rather quickly because of his previous training. The first steps the young genin did was to get his body to become relaxed. Sano breathed in and out slowly regulating each intake and exhale of breath so that time seemed to slip by into nothingness. When Sano was relaxed he concentrated on bringing out his chakra. The genin did as he always did when trying to bring out his chakra. He pictured the small ball of flame that existed in the center of his being. He then coaxed it to life through sheer will. He felt and pictured it as the warm feeling spread through his chakra circulatory system. When he had brought it out he exerted it over the very wind that surrounded him.

It took a moment, but not before long he sensed that he had properly begun to mold the wind around him through his chakra. It wasn’t exactly easy for a D-rank shinobi like himself, but he was managing. This jutsu was part chakra control part element manipulation. When he could sense that his chakra had gained some measure of control over the wind directly in front of him Sano opened his mouth wide and took in a deep breath. He sucked in the air the chakra still mixing inside it. His breath was long and he did not stop until he lungs were filled to the brim and his chest puffed out evidence of the amount of air he was taking in. When he had gathered all of his air and chakra he molded it further inside his body. In a fight this would only take a second, but while practicing he took his time delicately working on it so that there would be no mistakes in the future.

He could feel the change inside him and feel the wind taking a more lethal shape. Sano didn’t complete the transformation just yet because there was always a chance something could go wrong and he didn’t want to see what would happen to him if the arrow somehow launched inside his closed mouth. When all it needed was one last effort of molding to take its final shape Sano opened his mouth and completed that last piece of the puzzle. The young boy exhaled with all his effort launching the newly created arrow right out of his mouth. It flew as true as a real arrow heading towards a tree that Sano had selected. As soon as it collided it would disperse into simple wind once more, but if he was successful it would also leave behind a rather nasty mark on the tree.

Sano watched as the arrow flew from his mouth and soared until it reached the tree. The young genin stared at the tree as the arrow collided against its bark and then turned to nothingness. In the wake of its disappearance was a small gash in the base of the tree. Sano was at least partially proud with the damage he had inflicted on the sturdy, but something nagged him. He had seen his father perform the very same jutsu that he had jutsu now and it had inflicted a lot more damage. Though his father was jounin level in strength and thus such a difference would be obvious Sano felt that his attack should have still been marginally stronger. With that in mind Sano decided that he would train just a bit more. He had almost gotten it down completely. The genin was certain that now that he had gotten familiar with the jutsu performing it once more would be easy and hopefully this time he would be able to unravel that last part of the technique that would complete it.

Sano adjusted his body so he hung loose, relaxing all the muscles that had contracted when he had exhaled the wind arrow. When he had gotten himself comfortable he began to mold the chakra in the air around him. Chakra was already pumping through his circulatory system so all he had to do was exert it through his body to mold the wind and air around him. The young genin’s chakra took hold of the wind around it morphing it into something more tangible. With the transformation process started Sano began taking deep breaths. The boy sucked in all the air he could, his chest rising as if it would inflate like some sort of hot air balloon. With his lungs filled he began meticulously continuing with the chakra manipulation. He took the wind and like a chisel to a stone he began to create his arrow out of what air had gathered. When Sano had reached the point that anymore molding might end up cutting the inside of his mouth he exhaled. Sano blew out all that wind completing the finishing touches even as the arrow departed from his lips. It took flight aimed once more at the tree that had been struck already. Hopefully this time Sano would see better results.

Fuuton: Chibikazekiri no Jutsu (Wind Release: Tiny Wind Drill Technique)

Effect: The user sends a small burst of wind that spins like a drill towards an opponent.
Special: Handseals
Drawback: It is small, thus not capable of doing a ton of damage.
Description: The user performs the handseals and then extends their right or left arm. From that arm, a small burst of air will escape. It begins spinning rapidly as it moves with speed towards the opponent. It will drill against whatever it hits for a matter of a round before dissipating into nothing. This technique is capable of being used within the distance of ten meters. This technique is considered to be an extensive punching like technique.

Sano remained still as he watched his makeshift wind arrow soar towards the tree. The Shitakuma clansman was sure that this time he would be successful. The young boy was confident in how he had created the arrow and was certain it would do damage. Sano stood staring intently as the arrow finally reached the tree and spiraled against it for a second before dispersing into harmless air. When Sano moved closer to the tree to inspect it he couldn’t help, but smirk as he noticed the gash in the tree to be much deeper then it had been in his first attempt. He was relieved to see the change and could now move on to the next fuuton jutsu. He was making a good effort and he was positive that by the time he left this field he would have a decent amount of jutsu to use in combative situations. He had plans to explore other releases, but for now fuuton would do nicely for it focused more on offensive capabilities then anything else.

Sano made his way over to three dummies made of wood and straw that he had placed in the field a few days past. When he had built them he didn’t know exactly why he had constructed them. However, he had an excellent idea on how he could use them now. He stood in front of the first one and flexed his right arm. His mind raced back to earlier that day when he had spoken to his father about fuuton jutsu. A midst all the jutsus his father had listed was one that he could combine with a simple punch. With this dummy Sano would be able to train in that particular jutsu. Sano blew in and out and when he felt he was ready he began the jutsu. Sano’s hands worked in fluid motion performing the necessary handseals. Each finger moved meticulously to perform the correct handseal his mind recounting each one as his brain sent signals to perform it.

With the handseals completed Sano held his hand out and willed the wind to roll around his to form the drill like weapon that had been described to him. The chakra he pushed out through the pores of his body latched on to the very air itself and made it heavier as he began spinning it around his right arm. The handseals had been the easy part and the young genin took his time with the next part of his training. Sano watched as the wind clung heavily around his arm and then started spinning as his will flexed around the wind held together by his chakra. The speed of the spinning increased and grew more and more as the drill became bigger and stronger. When Sano believed the attack had formed enough he threw his fist forward at the dummy. The drill began to pierce the dummy and Sano was hoping would completely destroy it before the wind dispersed and his jutsu ended.
