"This makes the demands of Konoha look like the whining of a little child." sighed the male as he put the magazine down at the table. "Let me be frank. If something like this happened to the Kumogakure right now, Konoha would not rush to its aid.
About five years ago I tried to enter the Kumogakure with a group of my shinobi. However, I was the only one allowed to enter as they were not" started Gosei.

"These were orders from Machiko Kana, who was your kage at the time. I got angry and left. Apart from that I ignored the incident, hoping to clean the slate with a new Raikage.
Unfortunately for us, one of those shinobi from back then is now Hokage. She did not forgive or forget." informed the young man.

'WHAT!? How could Kana do something like that!?' thought the female as she tried to recall the event he had told her about.
"I would like to make things again as they were, a strong central alliance between our villages, a bastion at the Jikoku-Ten ocean. All I need in return is something from Kumo to appease my Kage. Also, I'll keep silent to her about your village's flirt with the Yukigakure." told the former Hokage.

Marii bit her lower lip in slight panic when he mentioned their relations with Yukigakure no Sato. It seemed like the male already knew this.
'Maybe he's a part of the reason why Yukigakure no Sato is not so fond of Konohagakure. But why would Gosei-san stir up a conflict with a smaller village at the other end of the sea?' thought the young woman. She made a mental note to find out more about this when she got back.

"I THINK I may have something that will interest your Hokage. I am quite happy to inform you that Machiko Kana stepped down from her position about three years ago for starters.
Our current Raikage is quite interested in mending the relationship we have with your village" started the Sannin with a small smile at her face. Her bony hands then pulled up a piece of paper than had a sort of stamp on it.

"Our current Raikage is willing to help out Konohagakure no Sato in future conflicts against enemies we share or have no established relationships with. We're also interested in giving you herb seeds plus lessons in that field. I don't want to brag, but we have numerous capable herbalists in our village" informed the female.
"The second part is related to our clan. We are willing to give you the information we have gathered if everything works out. I would also like you to become our clan representative here in Konohagakure since you're the one with the best position" stated the brunette.

"In return however, we would like to get your aid in conflicts. That includes the conflict we're currently in now. Chances are big that they're having your village next on the list for a number of reasons.
The biggest one I can think of is your economical situation. Not to mention that two of the most famous bloodlimits are having their strongholds here" said the young woman.

She was off course talking about the Uchiha and Hyuuga clan. Kami knows what the Gale Empire could come up with if they got their hands on someone from those families.
"The third reason is probably the most frightening one...you have been allies with us for ages. It would make perfectly sense from a political point of view to take down our allies as well. Particularly since you guys are so strong as a village" admitted Marii with a small grin.

anic seemed to overtake Marii slightly when he mentioned the Yukigakure. She did not seem to have expected that. It might have been played a bit early, but it was a card he would need to bring into play. It was under the table for now, although it did not stop Gosei from flipping this metaphorical card back up again. "You look shocked. You will find that I keep up very much with the current affairs. Ace, the Yukikage has a personal problem with me, although it is kind of one sided."

The woman had a letter from her Raikage, denoting all kinds of offers. Sipping from his tea Gosei would listen intently as marii listed them. When she finished Gosei kept silent for a while, thinking about the options. "The reinstatement of the alliance is the mutual goal of the agreement we are to reach, not so much a term of said agreement. Especially since we seek aid from eachother. As for the clan, I am already the de-facto leader of our family in this village and no other Kazeraikou in Konoha can go around me. All it would do is to reaffirm the reality with a title. The clan information is good to have and I would like to have it, but only benefits our branch of the clan and not the village as a whole. Herbs are tempting and a good offer. I must point out however that we in Konoha already have a large assortment of herbs and also capable herbalists. We have an excellent young Hyuuga chap, who is very skilled in the subject. Any additional knowledge is of course always welcome."

Gosei would get up, cross his arms in front of his chest and look out of the window as he pondered. It just seemed... Meagre. Clan information and herbs for a military alliance. "I say this openly and I hope to not sound disrespectful, but herbs in trade for potentially the lives of my fellow villagers seems like a meagre deal. I need something that says mutual trust!" Gosei spoke, holding out his right hand on the last two words. Turning back again he would face her. "How about, on top of what has already been proposed, the location of the Kumogakure. It will be kept in our village vault, only accessible to the Hokage and me. If however something were to befall the Kumogakure, we could be there faster than ever, cutting the embassy from our route. It's a win-win, I have the statement I need, and you have rapid response aid."

"You look shocked. You will find that I keep up very much with the current affairs. Ace, the Yukikage has a personal problem with me, although it is kind of one sided" explained the male.
'I wonder if he is lying about this to get the benefits' thought the female. She glanced at his face in order to get a clue.

His purple eyes did not reveal any nerves. Same could be said for his face...he was a tricky one. 'He said the hate was kind of one-sided. But which side is hating the other?' thought Marii. She closed her eyes for a moment as she tried to remember her visit back in Yukigakure.

One thing in particular stood out to her; the sword in the map at the Yukikage office. Plus that the Yukikage had not been there when she arrived. 'Maybe Gosei-san is telling the truth. But what has he done to make the Yukikage dislike him?' thought the young woman.

He went towards the window while the Sannin glanced over at her animal companions. They were fast asleep despite they were sharing room with two talking humans.

But she could not help but to agree with him. Plants plus clan knowledge could not make up for manpower.
"I would have to talk with the Raikage about this...but I agree with you about the deal. Especially since we're the two of the largest shinobi villages that exists" told the brunette. She stood up from the sofa with an alert expression at her face.

"I'm going to write the Raikage a letter now to inform him about your offer. Also, I would like you to be one of the VIP's at an upcoming clan ceremony in ten days.
You can bring a bodyguard plus a date if you wish. May I use one of the carrier birds you or the Hokage tower has? I don't wish my own pet to become an arrow target" inquired the young woman with a nice smile.

rom your observation of your conversation partner it became clear that Gosei did not have any strong feelings towards the Yukikage, neither positive or negative and that as far as Gosei was concerned he was speaking the truth about the relationship between him and the Yukikage and the relationship between the Village Hidden in the Leaves and the Village Hidden in the Snow. At least Gosei seemed convinced that he had done no wrong and the situation was mostly Ace's doing.

After shocking the Sannin and now making her choke on her tea Gosei had almost reached a new record during a single negotiation. "I understand, it is not a light decision. Wait, I've got all you need here." Gosei noted, opening a drawer hidden under the oak table. Inside were pieces of parchment, pens, a lighter and a silver wax stick. All you needed to write a letter and seal it. From his right hand Gosei would pry a silver signet ring. "You can also borrow my signet ring. It is a Kazeraikou symbol, just Konoha one." That would take care of the writing a letter part. Now just the delivery. Gosei formed a few handseals and touched his shoulder, strangely enough summoning without the use of blood.


A half a meter long green snake would appear from alabaster smoke with a mane, wings and fan at the end of the tail made from rainbow coloured feathers. The creature would slither onto a couch, raising it's big red curious eyes, eyeing Marii and her pets nervously. With his tail he pointed at the hawk, looking at Gosei with questioning eyes. "I don't think that he wants to play Zewak." The Godaime said to his summon. "This is Zewak, he cannot speak, but he understands what you say. You can borrow him for a while to send your messages. Best thing, arrows reflect from his scales." Sitting down in his chair again the Godaime would pick up his tea cup again. "I would love to see the Kumogakure again. Consider me already there."

Layla moved to find the cup and saucer and then pulling out the sugar she would eye the tea thoughtfully as she waited for the tea to finish seeping into the water. Her eyes closed as she waited for the soft hissing of the deeper groggy voice in her mind to settle down. Shaking her head she would pour her tea and put a couple lumps of sugar into the cup, and she stared at the cup, milk or cream.

Milk or cream?

The voice suddenly cooed at her, “filth, go with cream. Might even out the tea flavor, I am not fond of Earl Gray. You should have gone for something more... bloody, like a nice bath. You know what I like.” her eyes merely widen slightly before she would reach for the milk, if he said one thing, she had learned, early on, to take the thing he disliked. Made him distanced really. She poured it slowly as to not to over flow the tea. Then placing it down, her hands went to the cup, it felt warm as her fingers touched the sides of the cup. If she got as bad as before, she would have to move out and hid in the country side, as her senses would become worse. She would exhibit a wide range of weird cross wiring of her senses. Most of which would be hot would be cold, and cold would be hot. Colors would change to black and white and the voices would become a living color person. She knew it come to it again, she would have to do something about it.

Her hands lifted the cup to her lips, a small sip would tell her that milk was a good choice, though, try it without it. Sugar and tea would be pleasant, she paused, she didn't know where that one came from. But she sipped the warm drink again as her finger ran its self along the edge of the cup, the voice growled and seemly sunk off as the door opened and she heard the voices of two people, she knew the one voice, she kept quiet as she moved to place the cup still full in the sink and dumped the contents down the drain. Her hands would move to wash the cup clean. Her fingers ran along the edge of the wet ceramic cup. “filth, see what did I tell you? You don't like tea.” her eyes finally cut over to the side where the voice seemed to be coming from for her, there was a tiny little dot of red forming. She had to wonder how he was doing it, since the place is white, with just black counter top.

Her hand slowly placed the cup on the counter and stared at it before she would turn away from it, she monotone quietly,

“go away”

she would pick up the cup and taking the cup back to the tea pot she would pour the cntents into the cup and she would then pick up a good number of sugar cubes, like seven cubes and put them in the cup. She would stir it quietly and then sip it slowly. She liked this one better then with milk in it. Her hands were warmed again by it, the dot moving about the room in her eye sight, seemly looking about the room. One of the smaller voices in her head spoke,

“we smell the person that you could kill to seal us up again. Or are you going to go about like last time?”

her eyes showed a dimmed light in them, she wouldn't speak just yet, but the voices were getting on her nerves and the red dot was brighter. Making her head hurt really, she wondered if she needed more sleep or something to put her mind to rights. Because it felt like they came out in her worst moments. She sipped the tea, it was about half gone by now, she seemed to like sugar enriched teas it seems. And the red dot would loom close to hand near her.

“filth, I haven’t forgiven you for what you did last time. Sealing me up and away, really isn't the best thing. Thankfully, you seemed to have gone up in the world, so it just makes it better to confuse your mind now. I need to have... the person's who gave you all of this to thank them. By allowing me to live in them. Then you will NEVER get rid of me, you filthy beggar.”

It turned out that the male was telling the truth. "I understand, it is not a light decision. Wait, I've got all you need here." told Gosei.
He handed her some writing utensils plus something the female had not used that often. A stick made out of wax and a lighter.

"You can also borrow my signet ring. It is a Kazeraikou symbol, just Konoha one." offered the young man. He handed her a silver ring that had a familiar symbol at it.
"Thanks" replied Marii with a smile. She studied the symbol that had been engraved at the ring.

What the former Hokage did next surprised her. He summoned an adorable small green snake with rainbow-coloured wings. The said creature pointed at her sleeping animal companion with his tail.
"I don't think that he wants to play Zewak" told the male. 'Doubt Daiki-kun would like him anyways...he eats snakes for dinner after all' thought the young woman.

"This is Zewak, he cannot speak, but he understands what you say. You can borrow him for a while to send your messages.
Best thing, arrows reflect from his scales. I would love to see the Kumogakure again. Consider me already there." finished the ivory-haired man.

"Well, I'm glad to hear you're positive about your position. Just give me a couple of moments to write this letter. I'll use one of the empty rooms just in case" informed the Sannin.
She went out of the living room in the search of an empty room she could use. It did not take long until she found a bathroom that she could use.

'Better switch of the lights just in case' decided the female. She switched off the lights before she sent some raiton chakra to her right hand. Her left hand wrote down what the young man had suggested at a piece of parchment.
Her eyes went from side to side as they re-read the text. 'Looks good enough...time to seal the deal' mused the brunette.

She left the bathroom with the parchment nicely folded. "Please come over here Zevak" inquired the young woman. The winged snake flied over to her with a curious look in his eyes.
Marii ignited the wax before she dripped some at the folded parchment. Her hand then stamped the wax with the signet ring the male had let her borrow.

"Listen up now, this is really important. I want you to fly to the Raikage tower in Kumogakure no Sato with this letter as fast as you can. Make sure one of the receptionists receives it" told the female with a serious voice.
The summon nodded. "Good...here you are" said Marii as she gave him the letter.

Zewak left the mansion moments later with the letter in his mouth. "Over to something less serious. How has things been going on in Konoha lately?" inquired the young woman with a smile.
She was happy that the business part was over for the moment. Gosei was after all a friend of hers.

It had been a couple of hours since the miniature couatl had left the mansion. The female then spotted something move at the edge of her vision. She turned around just in time to see the small winged snake.
"Well thank you Zewak! You're a really good helper" told Marii as she got the letter he had coiled his tail around.

Light blue eyes scanned the letter that the Raikage had written to her. It seemed like he had used a similar code to the one she had used. 'Now to interpret this' thought the young woman.
She closed her eyes as she re-played the text she had just read. Just what did the shinobi wanted to tell her?

'Dear M.K...I have always wanted to visit the fairytale forest myself. I hear it is beautiful this time of year. It is only reasonably that the head wizard know where to send those who can see in the sun and use fans.
Please let him know where that is. Enjoy the rest of your trip. I look forward to your return. R.K' read the message.

'It seems like he is positive to an alliance with Konohagakure no Sato. He doesn't think it's unreasonable that they know our location. But the part about visiting the fairytale - I mean Konohagakure - is still a bit unclear to me' concluded the Sannin.
She glanced at the male who was in the same room. "I just got a reply from my boss here" informed the female with a neutral look at her face.

"Looks like it's your lucky day. I need to visit the Hokage tower to get things confirmed though. If possible, I want to meet the Hyuuga you told me about too. Especially if he's one of the most capable herbalists here.
I also want to see how my...previous gifts are doing" inquired the brunette with a skinny grin.

Everything was going according to the plan. All she needed was to get an overview of what kind of herbs she needed plus meeting that Hyuuga guy.
'Maybe I should ask him how my chakra network looks like. I don't know how my bloodlimit affects my body or my network after all' thought the female. Her animal companions had started to wake up.

arii retired shortly to work on her letter. When she returned she had embossed the letter with Gosei's seal to denote the heritage of the letter. There would probably be little question in the Kumogakure as to who had sent the letter. There were very few Kazeraikou in Konoha and with only one ambassador here at the moment who happened to be of that specific clan the options were very narrow. The godqaime chuckled softly as the 'w' in Zewak immediately became a 'v' in the the Fulagarian dialect.Many people might have missed it as she talked, but Gosei was watching and listening intently to every sound and move at this time.

Once the summon was on it's way the other Kazeraikou sat down again to await the return of the Couatl. It was time for the small talk. "As it has been for years. Things are quiet and we flourish. I've started a little project, my own shinobi team. has been years since I had one. Apart from that I finally have the time to pursue my own interests. I want to try something artistic. I was thinking about poetry and calligraphy." Taking another sip from his cup he would empty the vessel before placing it back on the table. "And in Kumo? How is the rebuild?"

It took quite some time but eventually Zewak returned. Marii read the letter, keeping a very neutral expression on her face. Not that he really fooled Gosei who observed her closely at this point. The letter was short, but it took her some time to read the letter, or rather, to understand it. That meant that the letter was either encrypted or was written in some kind of metaphorical language to hide the contents to the letters on those who do not know the situation surrounding the letter or just don't understand the metaphors because they are intended for an inner circle.

When she replied she kept attempting to keep up the neutral face, but Gosei tried to see what her underlying emotions were. A first guess would be happiness and content at the successful conclusion of this negotiation. "Not lucky, the correct term I think would be 'auspicious'. Reaching a new agreement between our villages will increase our strength beyond the combined power of our separate forces. The whole is more than a sum of its parts. Your Kage merely seems to have reached the same conclusion as we have.." Gosei philosophized, getting up from his chair.

"We can organize all of this today, the herbs are kept at the Research Centre to the east. Then we can go past the shop on main street for the maps we need and finalize the deal in the tower. I'd like to see this treaty to go into effect as soon as possible.

We can go past the Research centre, then through the store to get the maps to mark the location and finally past the Hokage tower to finalize the agreement. Do you really want to RP with yourself tho? Isn't that weird?

"You have a research centre? How lovely!" told the female with a sincere smile at her face.

She did not care if her face showed more emotion than she was supposed to portray. Marii was with a friend now within a city that did not despise Kumogakure. Being a decently skilled herbalist who really liked to experiment did not decreased her happiness either.
Her animal companions were waking up from their slumber. Both of them had a more alert look in their eyes now.

"Good news guys. We just have two more trips in this village until we can go home to Kumogakure" informed the young woman with a smile. Daiki let out a small 'cak-cak-cak' sound while Shiori purred.
"Let's go to the research centre. I can't wait to see how you've taken care of the herbs I sent you three years ago" told the Sannin as she put her backpacker onto her back.

She then followed Gosei out of the mansion with her animal helpers right behind. The trio were excited to see how things had turned out. Especially the female since her mission was practically over.
The only thing left to do was to get the formalities done. Traveling was something she loved, but Kumogakure would always be her home.

appily the two animals reacted to the other Kazeraikou's statement that they would depart soon after a few short errands. "Let us be on our way then." the Godaime stated. In the time they had waited for Zewak to return the torrent of rain had subsided and a small watery sun had started to break through the clouds. Anything better than having to run through the rain. In the hallway Gosei would pick up his gas mask and fan, sticking both back in their appropriate places in his sash. The large scroll however would remain at home. He had no use for the item at this particular moment and having to drag it across Konoha was not an idea that appealed to the Godaime. Guiding Marii outside they would pass Sir Pounce'a'lot, who had dug himself in and peeked at the two from under a trap door he had created to shield off the top of his burrow. He too would be left for now as he could not enter the Research Centre through the front door anyway.

till donning the same cobalt and gold trimmed haori, draped around his shoulders, the Kazeraikou entered his own house. He still carried around a huge arsenal, 14 kunai, 4 smoke and 4 stun grenades and 20 senbon (of which ten had explosive tags wrapped around them). Taking his fan and gas mask with E-type filter out of his blue obi he would place them next to the door on top of his huge scroll. These items were too clumsy for at home. Divided around several pouches though he still carried 2 wireless radios, 3 blood clot pills, 2 soldier pills, 2 small scrolls, a lensatic compass, manacles with impossible locks, a regional map of Kaminari no Kuni and a world map. around his left wrist he would remain donnign the ornate bracelet which was actually a hidden storage for another 57 senbon. He would also keep on his blue shinobi sandals and his white hakama and kosode.

It was time for tea, the negotiations today had been long and had drained him. Rubbing his neck he would enter his family room, where Layla was already sipping tea. Luckily she had a whole tea pot. "Hello princess, how are you?" He asked softly, leaning in past her cup of tea to give her a light kiss on the lips.

Layla was frowning at the red dot, as it slowly seemly laughed at her as she drank her tea. She paused as she heard the door open, and then steps growing louder. Her eyes moved to her tea and the red dot moved to sit on her shoulder chuckling as Gosei moved into view.

She moved to put the cup down in a fashion that was slow and trying to hid her small shake as it was her fear that she would upset Gosei's life in a way she most likely couldn’t fix it. It was then as she viewed him, that dark cobalt blue color seemed to wink at her as the red seemed to shrink away from the blue color but then gather some kind of gull to sit on her shoulder the whole time as Gosei leaned in to kiss her lightly, Layla smiled at him, her eyes were a little less brighter then normal, there seemed to be some kind of stress around her eyes and the edges of her lips. Somewhere if he could really truly read her, there was a hint of fear in her mind, and just a tiny touch of it in her eyes. She, was going to have to tell him at least, before she abruptly vanished on him for no real reason. Her eyes did show a love for this man in front of her, as her hand would slip up to cheek as she would smile at him as he leaned back from kissing her lips. Then he asked how she was, she shortly thought, she was still no princess, Her lips moved as she spoke with a soft troubled smile,

"Would you like some tea, love? I heard you come in before once, but I figured you were busy since you went to the sitting room instead of here. So I made tea."

It was at 'I made tea' that the voice came back to speak in her ear, “you made tea that you wasted, filth. He may be protected currently. But, he will not forever protected.” at this she had still in her speaking as she listened to the voice speak, her eyes darted towards the voice, but otherwise she gave no signs of hearing things instead she just turned back to look at Gosei with a slight worry line on her forehead.

sking Gosei if he wanted tea was the same a samurai if he wanted a fight. "Of course, thank you very much." There was something off. A slight tremble in her hand as she put down her cup, the tired way she looked at him despite the smile. She looked at her shoulder, that was strange since there was nothing and noone there. If there had been any movement or sound for her to react to then it was very doubtable that the far more perceptive Gosei did not observe it. Something was wrong, very wrong. Why was she looking over there? She seemed nervous and most importantly, she avoided the question about how she was, instead opting to offer tea.

Quickly he would act, choosing to react before she could move away from him to pour tea. At this moment she was holding nothing dangerous, considering that she had put the hot liquid onto the table. He would grab her lithe wrists before she could get up, kneeling on his right knee to bring his eyes on the same level as hers. Gently he brought her hands to her lap, softly rubbing the palms of her hands with his thumbs. "Is there something wrong darling?" He asked, piercing her eyes with his. Normally he would rely on his observation skills, but this time due to her strange behaviour he also activated his sensor skills. If Layla tried to lie to hide whatever it was from the Godaime he would immediately find out from fluctuations in her chakra signature.

She was given a go a head for the tea, maybe the voice will go away while she was with Gosei. She as she placed her cup down on the table, Gosei moved suddenly to knee in front of her, taking her free hands into his and bring them to her lap, his hands making her shiver, his thumbs rubbing in circles in her palms. "Filth, if you so much as breath, I will shifty wake up and over take your mind."

Now, Layla knew there was one thing, wrong with that statement, he had never over taken her mind before hand, so her eyes darted to her shoulder again as she half frowned at her shoulder where the dot was speaking. Before she would turn back to her man, she looked at him closely while she could think clearly. She mumbled suddenly taking a chance on him, a blind leap of faith, that he would be able to understand what she had to do in the end of things, her voice sounded a little put out, as if she didn't want to say it, but it needed to be said,

"I think... I am insane. Again."

Her eyes would look at him, really taking in his face as if she was looking at him for the last time, her hands were shaking as the the dot let out a hiss as she spoke. She kept her eyes glued on Gosei's face as she would go on to say even if he shoved her way from himself,

"I started to hear voices again this morning, as well as seeing the colors come to life again. Voices I don’t mind, until the red one starts to wake up. I had to leave the place where I lived last time I had him wake up."

Red started to make a loud fuss in her ear as she spoke about him, “Filth, you will pay for that one." With that he vanished off to find a red colored object in the house, he made noises as he left, loud ones that made her wince and want to curl into a ball as they hurt her ears now. But as for her story, she didn't go on, explaining her past it was in effect, a place where she couldn't fully remember to the fullest, because her mind blocked out most of what happened with Red and anyone else. She knew she had done those things, but it wasn't her fully.

I

ntuition had once again proven its worth. Something was apparently very wrong. As Layla spoke she appeared to be in pain, physical pain. Her hands trembled in his grasp but he would not let go. She would be going nowhere until Gosei would have his answers. He especially did not like how she talking about leaving. He immediately grasped the insinuation that she made and it was something at the bottom of his list of preferences. "The red one? Who is he, darling?" the Godaime asked, keeping all his senses including his sensor senses trained on his lady, wondering if it was a physical being she saw somewhere in the room or only a voice in her head she associated with red. "You know that whenever you have problems like this you should come to me. Remember, I am also a medical shinobi. I have ways of treating problems of the mind without harming the mind. Do you mind if I try?" Her compliance however was something he however did not need. If she agreed then it would only make his job easier, but in Gosei's eyes she was suffering from an illness and he would cure it to the best of his abilities whether she wanted it or not.

Layla suddenly leaned into Gosei as he spoke, asking who was red. The screaming grew as she shook all over as the now for her a brighter red as it took her skirt color from the skirt itself. Red clearly scared her as she literally was refusing to look behind him. For her the color blue from his clothes was comforting as that color seemed to ease the noise level down as the other color seemed to scream, she formed a thought that could be spoken now as her eyes would cry if they could do so,

"Red.. is a color that acts like an monster. I haven't had a problem with the voices in a few years."

She knew she was pushing her luck as it was, as seemed that red was disliking this whole thing as she spoke, again to give permission to him while she was almost sane,

"You can do as you wish love. But this.. would be the first time I have seen Red in about 3-5 years. but the blue color on your haori is making red upset because its protecting you from red. First time I have seen a blue color be like Red."

It was then that she fell quiet as she heard red breathing behind her threatening to take her mind, her hands would move to clutch at his hands out of fear, her reality blurring fairly heavily as she suddenly suddenly gave a small scream as she felt him poking at her mind trying to get in, as the blue color seemed to batting at red to get him to stop bothering her.
