Physicality
[//Withdrawn -- Archimedes does not possess the swinging gait of a man with an air of confidence. Quite the contrary despite the fact he has no real issues with himself. His posture is never one of welcoming or warmth, and he rarely opens himself physically or emotionally. Even when he is relaxed; his arms are often crossed across his chest, and his eyes cast downward, unseeing, but unwilling to meet the accidental gaze of another and invite conversation. Shoulder hunched and his hands tucked snugly into his pockets as he walks, he can disappear into a crowd like any other. His posture goes hand in hand with his quiet demeanour, and that is simply the way that he likes things.
[//Handsome -- Simply because he is withdrawn, it does not mean that Archimedes tries to hide himself from the world around him, as there is really nothing to hide. Not overly tall, but still slightly above average; he stands at a comfortable height of five feet, ten inches, and with a rather thin frame, he weighs in at a paltry (For one of his Taijutsu Master ilk) one hundred and eighty three pounds. His features are dark and sharp in contrast to his pale skin, which makes him stand out. His dark brown hair borders on black and frames his face neatly with small sideburns. His chin is accentuated by the tuft of raven hair there; and his thin Duchess nose which is bordered either side by pearl white eyes which are hidden behind dark sunglasses, adding to the contrasting light skin/dark features combination.
[//Slender -- Although Archimedes possesses a lot of power in his body; one would not expect it to be so by looking at him. Hidden in his thin arms is the power of nemean. Possessing a lean body type from a distance, once one approaches him; they would see the defined lines of muscle and the care that it takes to sculpt a body in such a manner. This physique is one of a man who appreciates dextrous and gymnastic movements in favour of a simple powerhouse physical body. This does not mean that he is any weaker than another of his kind; his strengths are merely broader and less focused on power. Possessing only three percent body fat, one would be hard pressed to find a place on his body that has not been sculpted by years of harsh training.
[//Pale -- Considering his birth country and his country of residence, Archimedes lacks the usual pigment of a man who has lived most of his life in a place where the sun often shines. One would simply assume that he has spent most of his life following the clouds and hiding in their shadows, but the truth is far less amusing and boring. His skin simply does not darken no matter how much he exposes himself to the sun. Not that it matters to him; as his Shitakuma bloodline prevents him from seeing colors anyway, but to those around him who have seen him shirtless in the sun for hours and would expect a pale man such as himself to at least burn; they are quite surprised by the turn of events. Truth be told, if someone had not told him he was pale, he would never have known his skin color to begin with.
[//Prepared -- Archimedes is ready to go to war at any given time. That is the price a Shinobi pays for their power. His blade Taka is always at hand, the dark mahogany sheath usually always on the blade. As it is too large to carry at his waist, and too cumbersome for his back, it is usually suspended over his left shoulder and his left hand usually binds it to his side. Considering he possesses little to no other possessions, his preparedness for war is whether or not he is carrying his blade, as even without it; he is more than a formidable force to be reckoned with. Tactical strength and his ability to encompass a large area within his sight are two strengths greater than any weapon could ever provide for him.
[//Clothing -- Fairly casual and not at all as poorly done as one would expect from a blind person. It's simple as he owns very few outfits, so he is not really able to mess it up. Primarily his clothing consists of a black V-neck T-shirt and grey slim fitting jeans that stretch with excessive movement, but often end up ripped and need to be replaced. His shoes are usually a pair of dark dress shoes that are replaced more often than the pants. All in all, he does not stand out when it comes to his fashion.
[//Facial Features -- Not expressionless, but certainly not a man who wears his emotions on his face, Archimedes is not a man who reacts greatly.
[//Eyes -- As a Shitakuma, Archimedes possesses the milky white eyes of his bloodline, but these are often hidden behind a pair of fashionable black sunglasses.
Personality
[//Aloof -- Archimedes; being a person who is without the use of his eyes, has never experienced the world as most of the people he has met have, and their common ground is limited due to this alone. Where he does not push for people to leave him alone, he has never been one to approach others, and has no desire for the status quo to change. While most view him as uncaring or unsociable, he simply finds their way of life or how they approach tasks different from his, and does not want unnecessary interactions and questions of his lineage. Granted, if question or if someone speaks to him, he has no qualms in answering their questions; however they are not long answers nor in depth. It does not help that his calm and quiet demeanour is often off-putting to those who try and approach him in order to befriend him, as he never expresses any sort of desires nor wants to others.
[//Calm -- Lacking his sight, he ability to view and make sense of his surroundings require him to focus a little more than the average Shinobi. If he loses his temper or happens to become angry, all the information that his ears feed his brain on his surroundings becomes harder to sort through. Knowing this from being told and from experience as a child, his neutral attitude and calm demeanour are more than simple social graces; they are lifelines. If he is unable to keep his cool in a life or death situation, he is far more likely to miss something deadly and end up dead. Thanks to this; he has trained himself to remain as stoic as possible, not allowing himself to become overjoyed, nor angered, restraining himself from most things, and alienating himself from others.
[//Quiet -- When conversing; even answering questions; Archimedes finds it difficult to use more words than is necessary in order to respond. Keeping answers short and not questioning others was something he discovered in order to have as few people talk to him as possible. Not because he enjoys being a loner, but because sound is important to him, and too many people use too many words to describe too little. Sound and words are great ways for one to paint a picture for him, and when people speak without meaning, they are wasting breath in his opinion. Words to him, are much like paint to an artist, a medium through which to convey art; and when someone who is a poor wordsmith uses too many words to say nothing, it is like splattering paint all over a blank canvas, and leaving nothing but a muddled brown mess on what could have been the canvas of a masterpiece.
[//Respectful -- Although the amount of words expressed by Archimedes number so few; the ones he does feel the need to convey are often laden with impact. He does not choose words thoughtlessly; he artfully expresses them with feeling through each syllable. Anyone he decides is worthy of praise will often hear themselves titled in his speech as a sign of respect from him, and even those that do not impress him will often be treated kindly by his words. In fact; in order for one to be truly dismissed vocally by the stoic Shitakuma, ones actions would have to be truly idiotic, and they will be told so in a derisive and demeaning manner, yet without malice. He will answer questions from superiors with absolute honesty and will not refute words even if they are incorrect.
[//Objective -- There is no lies or protecting himself or others from the truth with Archimedes, as frustrating as that is to others. If a superior wishes to hear why something occurred, even if it is his own fault, he will express the truth and the blame. Shinobi such as himself who are weapons to the foundation should not attempt to save themselves, they take the punishments they are given, and they do not waver in their resolve. His resolve is to be the best Shinobi that he can be; and if he fails, he deserves the punishments decided upon by the higher ups, whether or not this means his life means naught to him. The big picture for him is that he will not fall until he fails, and the moment he does, he will face the consequences and continue on if he remains alive. Only death will prevent him from becoming the best that he can be, he will not lie to himself otherwise.
[//Nature Lover -- The world without humanity is a beautiful thing, and if losing their sight was what it took for others to see the world in the way that he does; then he would recommend everyone do it. Although he cannot see the sun; he can bask in its warmth and he knows it is there. Although he cannot see the colours of the leaves in the fall, he can feel their texture and he knows that their lives ending here will bring for new life in the spring. The cycle of nature is more beautiful to him than the sight of it; and simply knowing that he is a part of it allows him to view his role in life objectively; knowing that he is nothing more than a weapon for the city he happened to be in currently. When he does express his thoughts; they are often metaphors than involve nature in some way, using it as an example to try and express the beauty of it to others, and to paint them a picture of what he sees when he thinks about it.
History
Devastation wrought upon the camp, the few survivors were left with so little. Bodies littered the earth, blood soaking into the remnants of the fabric of the tents, the fires extinguished by the same sanguine liquid. Tears had been shed for the dead, and yet they were the lucky ones, safe from the harsh desert, with no need for water or food that the others had been deprived of. It is, perhaps, no surprise that Archimedes Von Ronsenburg grew up to be the cold, efficient being that he would become. Of the eighty seven members of this small tribe, seventy three had been slaughtered. The list of the dead included his mother and his sisters. His father remained, one of the few remaining Shitakuma to keep the young ones safe. Finding what they could use, the fifteen abandoned the camp, never to look back.
Archimedes had been only seven months old when this slaughter had happened, and he would never find out who or what had done it, as over the next three years in the desert, most of the people who were old enough to recount the situation, were dead. At six, his father fell ill after being bitten by a very poisonous snake, and the next day he would be dead. Somehow, the young boy could not quite find it in him to be saddened by the death of his patriarch, as he had become more of a father to the group, than just to the boy, who had become accustomed to the familial upbringing, where everyone pitched in. Community parents, so to speak. There was a pang of regret, yes, as the man had been quite powerful in his own right, having earned the right to become the primary protector of their group. This being said, there were many other places he could learn to fight.
With the group expanding, but now primarily made of small children and teens, with maybe three adults, it was time for them to escape the harsh desert, and travel to a populated city, so their lives could be more prosperous, and safer. The Village Hidden in the Leaves was the first choice, as it was not only a powerful village, but a friendly one, built on more compassionate laws than the closer village of Sunagakure. Here, Archimedes fell in love with the world that he had suddenly arrived in, with the thick vegetation, the warm weather, and the common rains, all of which he could indulge his sight in, allowing the nature to speak to him, letting him see something other than endless fields of sand that he was so used to in the desert. Finally, he was in a place that could make full use of his 'sight'.
Over the next few years, he was able to get lessons to control his more affluent chakra, that was not directly involved in him allowing to see. However, his chakra was marginal at best, but he prevailed in physical abilities, which allowed him to pass the genin exams and get him a place in the village as a Shinobi. Not that this meant anything to him, he was simply more interested in getting stronger and seeing more of the world and the nature it contained. Unfortunately, unlike those who could see with their eyes, he needed to increase his chakra pool in order to see further, and witness the majesties that the world contained. His only real reason to become powerful was to be able to see the world as a normal person would. Of course, he would never share this dream with anyone, not even those who he would be paired with. This dream was his alone to attain, and it did not matter who he stepped on if they blocked his dream.
His training stopped for a while, as he was unable to perform for the village while being given orders to help the small clan that had arrived, and over ten years, his dream was forcefully put on hold until he was finally allowed back into his right as a Shinobi, and finally allowed to train once more. With only his clothes on his back, and his oversized sword at his side, he prepared to undertake mission after mission in order to hone his skills and acquire the power to become the greatest of the blind warriors, utilizing both his 'sight' and the physical prowess that he had been blessed with.
