"Nova", a Hungarian-made Recurve Bow
50 lb Draw Recurve Bow (Overview)
Rank: "C" Rank
Type: Main, Weapon, Bow
Effect: A bow with limbs that deflect toward the back of the bow to increase leverage when the bow is strung.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: A recurve bow has tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is unstrung. By one technical definition, the difference between recurve and other bows is that the string touches sections of the limbs of recurve bows when the bow is strung. A recurve bow stores more energy than an equivalent straight-limbed bow, potentially giving a greater amount of cast to the arrow. A recurve will permit a shorter bow than the simple bow for a given arrow energy and this form was often preferred by archers in environments where long weapons could be cumbersome, such as in brush and forest terrain, or while on horseback. A 50 lb Draw Recurve Bow that is able to shoot an average arrow at speeds of 76 mps with the accuracy of the user's ability. Any Specialist is able to use this kind of bow.
Limit: Capable of being bought in any Bow Shop.
Cost: 12,000 Ryo
-|Personal Info
Personality:
-|Just Good
Some people can tell the exact time without a watch. Others can tell their sense of direction without a compass. Taro can tell right from wrong without hesitation. Others that have met Taro have always agreed that there was some inner force deep within the folds of Taro's mind that strives to do good. Whilst Taro has always responded in a respectful and modest manner, he knows himself more than anyone else, and he recognizes that his purpose in life is to do good and enact justice. Taro's devotion to this task derives not from his sense of morality, but from the belief that he was born to do just good.
-|Vigilante Justice
Just because Taro lives to do good, does not mean he always obeys the law. In most situations, the law is in direct compliance with Taro's morals. But in the situation that they aren't, Taro will not hesitate to break the law unless said situation is very difficult. Taro's image of himself has always been that of Robin Hood. If necessary, Taro will break the law to fight greed and corruption so that the ordinary citizen may live a good and happy life. However, to avoid risk of imprisonment or assassination, Taro usually fights with political intuition to have unjust laws changed. Taro is a true symbol of vigilante justice.
-|Mellow Mood
One of the most striking aspects of Taro's personality is his calm and relaxed nature. Taro rarely raises his voice (unless rallying his people) and is always calm and level headed. His theory is that by maintaining a mellow nature, he can think clearly and seriously when situations are presented to him, rather than making rash decisions based off of flares of emotion. He speaks softly and by maintaing a smooth persona, he gets on the good side of people very easily. He recognizes that his calm nature is beneficial towards his motives, and so it has been a key tactic when it comes to enacting justice. The quickest way to win a person's trust, Taro says, is to have a mellow mood.
-|Happy Go-Lucky
Throughout his life, Taro has retained a happy and care-free attitude about everything in life. This is mostly derived from his spiritual beliefs, which revolve mostly around things like Karma and making the best out of your life. Taro is very appreciative of many things most people take for granted. When upset or angry, he demonstrates his emotion in other ways. Usually, it'll be some form of revenge taken in non-violent ways. However - there are rare moments when Taro does have outbursts, but they only occur when Taro has endured serious emotional trauma. Taro's life can be described as happy-go-lucky.
-|Academic Prowess
To many people, it seems as though Taro puts no effort into his schooling and education. However, ever since the academy Taro has been a student with excellent intelligence. In general, Taro is a smart person with skills in debating, knowledge in history and current events, political innovation, and general knowledge of science & chemistry. Science and chemistry have aided him greatly in his hobbies as an herbalist and animalist. All of his other skills have helped him with his moral goals. Taro recognized at a young age that education was an important thing, and that to be successful he would have to put in his best efforts. Taro even considers himself a person with intense academic prowess.
-|Helpful One
Ranging from donating money to the poor to saving a man's life, Taro has helped people everywhere regardless of social class, personal history or appearance. Taro has been most notably commended for helping strangers that he has previously never met, as the people who witness these actions agree that he has helped even those with a bad reputation. Regardless of any sin committed or mistake made, Taro believes everyone deserves a second chance. So everywhere Taro goes, he purposely seeks out those who need help in whatever situation. When Taro was young, he was known by his friends and family as "The Helpful One".
-|That Comedian
Whenever Taro is around friends or family or just fellow townsfolk, he is constantly bringing laughter to the faces of those around him. Taro is considered a people person, and is often the center of attention in social circles. While Taro remains modest about his social success, he knows it himself. His ability to make someone laugh is almost guaranteed by those who are friends with him. Taro says that humor is a great way to become friendly with someone, so he's always been that comedian.
-|Modest Mouse
Modesty is a trait that resonated deeply within Taro. Taro never exaggerates his achievements or gloats about his successes. Taro always takes his praise in stride, and is appreciative of all the attention from his peers. When openly praised or commended, Taro shows his modesty and seems almost embarrassed, turning his head down and giving a half-smile. When Taro was a toddler, his parents noticed his modesty and for a while called him "Modest mouse".
Appearance:
-|Normal Attire
-|Fighting Attire (Rehydrating)
-|Tribal Attire (see history)
Taro's normal appearance consists of grey and black striped, casual slacks worn without a belt. On his upper body, he often wears simply a dark green oriental vest without an undershirt, leaving his chest exposed. But when Taro wants to look nice, whether it be for a special event or meeting, or simply a casual social gathering, he wears a thin, sleeveless silk undershirt with a decorative fastener at the collar. Taro's signature dreadlocks are tied back by his headband, leaving his ears exposed. On his feet, Taro wears traditional wooden sandals.
Taro's fighting attire is much like that of a samurai. His headband is taken from his dreadlocks and secured around his waist as a belt, and he wears very baggy and loose pants. The pants are secured at the waist but also at the ankles, where they are tied up to allow dexterity in the feet. His feet are bare save the wooden sandals that are strapped on via his toes. Taro wears this when he is attending a previously made challenge. When he faces a sudden challenge, he will improvise his fighting attire as much as he can by using his headband as his belt and removing his shirt.
Taro's tribal attire (see history) consists of nothing but a loincloth and a animal tooth necklace. His skin will always be blue whenever he is in this outfit, and his dreadlocks are tightly twisted and wrapped into one long and thick ponytail. To see Taro in this outfit is a once in a lifetime chance, as he only wears it as a tribute to his heritage, or when avenging his fellow tribesmen (see history). When wearing this, Taro will only speak in his tribal language.
Taro is mildly built, not extremely ripped but not skinny either. A six pack is lightly etched onto his stomach, but it isn't overpowering. Taro is almost six feet, being just one inch short. However, although his face and body suggest he is older, he is only 16 and still has more growing ahead of him. Taro's head is mildly long in shape, and it follows the generic makeup of an average person's head. When Taro was young, his ears were rather large and they stuck out, but as he grew older they became proportionate to his head and looked much more normal.
Taro has broad shoulders and good looking skin, but he has no tattoos or markings which lead some to question his tribal heritage. Many of the adults in Taro's tribe had tribal war tattoos and piercings and the like, but at the time in Taro's history when he split from his tribe, he was not old enough to traditionally obtain war tattoos and piercings. To this day, he is somewhat happy about this, because he doesn't like the overall appearance of flashy tattoos. Taro wears no jewlery, save an animal tooth necklace that he wears on special occassions. He has no rings or bracelets on his hands. His hands look much more worn and torn than the rest of his body, not only because of the constant repetitive actions that humans do with their hands, but because of his guitar playing as well, something he picked up when he was around 15. As a result, his fingers are heavily calloused, and his fingernails are slightly longer than the average male's.

Chapter 1: Some day.
Age 0: When Taro exited the womb and experiences his first peak at real sunlight, he began to cry. As a part of the tradition, Taro experienced his first time being completely submerged in water. As his permeable skin-like membrane absorbed the sweet water, his tears began to slow and his crying became softer and softer until, a silently sleeping baby Taro was all that was left in his mother's arms. Smiling deeply with both pride and love, his mother wrapped him in comfortable blankets and set him down to rest. Safely sheltered, Taro's mother turned away for a quick moment to start the fire. Unlike the ordinary child, Taro did not live inside of an ordinary house. On the coast of the Rice Country, hidden in one of the forests there is a Tribal Hozuki village, created by a group of Hozuki that traveled there long ago. Taro was a child of this tribe, and his mother was essentially the doctor of the village. Now that she had given birth, Taro, as her son, was expected some day to become something great in the village. Some day.
Chapter 2: Growing Up
Age 9: For about all of Taro's life up until this point, he lived the happy young life of an innocent child. Though sometimes mischeivous and uncooperative, Taro was recognized as a nice child. However, as a male tribal member who had grown up well, he was expected to become a hunter and a warrior. Ordinarily, Taro's father would be the one to teach him to be an excellent warrior and hunter, but Taro's father had disappeared shortly after Taro's concieving. If Taro learned medicines from his mother, Taro would be considered somewhat of a disgrace to others, medicine being a percieved feminine occupation. However, Taro would be a great deal of help to the village if he became a hunter warrior. Taro's mother urged him to learn what he could from Goman, one of the youngest but most efficient warriors in the village. Goman was 18, and Taro flourished under his teaching. Soon Taro learned the basic skills of hand-to-hand combat, the basics of staff and spear weapons, and blades. But Taro's skill portrayed itself most radiantly in Archery. After a year of teaching, Taro was already an excellent archer for his age. Taro had also become physically built after a few months of training.
Chapter 3: Bad hunt
Age 14: It was an omen from the beginning. A sudden cold streak of weather had fallen over the tribal village on the coast of the Rice country. Many of the inhabiting Hozuki were soaking inside of their huts in warm baths. Taro, because he had become an excellent fighter and an extremely accurate hunter, was chosen to hunt food for the day. Taro dressed especially warm, layering himself in a couple of fur hides. His breath visible in the cold, he slowly treaded through the forest in search of a possible deer or rabbit or some kind of sizeable game. A young adolescent deer soon revealed itself to Taro, walking into clear view to calmly feed on some nearby patches of grass. Completely vulnerable, Taro did not hesitate to draw his bow. Sending a sharp, steel arrow quick into the deer's neck, it collapsed under the force of the hit, and as a result could not find the strength to get back up. The young deer was well grown, but it was not as large as a full adult deer. Taro figured if there were some gathered vegetables in storage, the village would have a meal. Taro slung the dead deer over his shoulder, its neck still bleeding behind him, leaving a red breadcrumb trail.
Chapter 4: Day of Reckoning
Age 14: When Taro woke up that morning, a dreadful feeling had washed over him. Something deep within him told him the day would not be good. When Taro approached his village with the deer lifeless on his shoulder, he was confronted by an image of pure abomination. There was not a single hut in the village that was not consumed in flame. Taro's deer dropped immediately from his shoulder. Dead bodies littered the streets of those that tried to run. Taro, shocked to the point of delusion, continued to walk into the village. Peering into the houses that belonged to his family and friends, his tear- blurred optics saw only the images of those he knew murdered horribly in their baths and beds, blood hideously strewn about their rooms, diluted through the foul bath water.
As Taro faced forward, he witnessed a mindshattering sight. 4 men, dressed entirely in black, straw hats shading their faces, stood strategically around the last survivor of the village. The last Hozuki in the village besides Taro, was a child. Not older than 4 years old. Not fully recognizing what had happened, the child stared nervously at the men around him. In less than 30 seconds, the men had ruthlessly murdered the innocent child as well. One of the men drew a brown bottle from his jacket, a bottle Taro instantly recognized. Dolphin Oil, a liquid that can instill fear in any Hozuki. Dolphin Oil is an oil that is found on a dolphin's skin. It is relatively easy to aquire, and is very flammable. Taro had to buy it at an item shop when he was younger, so that the villagers could make new torches. The man dressed in black launched the bottle at the child, the bottle shattering on the child's face. Severe lacerations from the glass could be seen clearly on the crying child's face, water streaming out from the wounds. One of the men dressed in black was holding a cigarette. With that cigarette, he extinguished Taro's village from the forests of the Rice Country. The child was set ablaze, and very quickly was dehydrated and evaporated into the cold air. With a simultaneous shunshin, all four men disappeared forever from Taro's life.
Chapter 5: The Aftermath
Age 14: After the four men dressed in black disappeared, Taro turned one hundred eighty degrees and began running. He ran through the woods and deep into the rice country, and did not stop for twelve hours. When his feet were bleeding and he could run no more, he collapsed, vomited, and blacked out in the middle of a rice farm. He woke up exactly a day later, at around noon. Standing up, he found everything calm and serene. It was sunny, and the silently empty rice farm was loud with the buzzing of cicadas in the nearby trees. Various birds and animals could be heard in the distance. Taro hunted, cooked, and ate a rabbit for breakfast that day. Refreshed, but still sad, Taro walked further into the emptiness of Rice Country, his feet carrying him endlessly into a world of loneliness.
Chapter 6: Sweet Salvation
Age 15: Taro spent an entire year wandering within the boundaries of the Rice Country, a year in which he spoke to no one. One fateful day when the sun was positioned highest in the sky, Taro's feet had brought him to a huge mountain of ravenous cliffs and steep inclines. Grabbing a large stick, Taro ingested a long swig of water from his gourd. Slowly but steadily, Taro began a meaningless climb to the top of an unknown mountain for no apparent reason. It took an entire week and 4 days, until Taro had found a large plateu, midway up the mountain. Tired and hungry, Taro approached an area with large cliffs on either side of a massive stone wall. Perplexed and astounded, Taro could only stare with heavy eyes at the structure. A huge red gate stood smack in the middle, with wooden pikes erected at an angle at the base of the wall. Graffiti and trash could be seen on parts of the wall. As Taro walked closer, two guards, wearing headbands of Sound Ninja, approached to stop him. They asked him for his rank, registration, identification and many things Taro did not know and could not even understand. Taro knew very little Japanese, and instead spoke the tribal language of his village. One of the guards recognized Taro's bloodlimit, Hozuki, and immediately they both took interest in Taro. Curious, they goaded him inside the village.
Chapter 7: Access Granted
Age 15: Amazement, confusion, and even a bit of fear. These feelings washed over Taro as he walked through the village gates. Many people, their skins colored all shades but blue, startled Taro at first. He could spot not a single blue person in the midst of the crowd. As his eyes peered upwards, his gaze met the height of the buildings around him. Taro had nver seen a building taller than two stories. But this city had buildings of many heights, some very tall and others short. Finally, the property of this village that injected nervousness into Taro most of all, was the communication barrier. Taro could not understand the onslaught of japanese that was being thrown at him from all sides, people inquiring about Taro's blue skin and tribal appearance.
Before he knew it, Taro had been taken indoors to a room with a table, and a glass of water at each seat. Sitting down, completely speechless, Taro gulped the water down almost instantly. The guards that had found Taro sat on the table, along with two other Sound ninja. One of the sound ninja looked curiously at Taro. With two handseals, the sound ninja began an unknown jutsu. Taro, never having witnessed any ninja techniques before, was completely perplexed at the ninja's actions. A small ball of distorted air, emitting a low humming sound, exited from the sound ninja's mouth and slowly floating into Taro's. Surprised, Taro gasped for air, sucking the distorted air into his lungs. He began to respond, in his native language, but what he spoke was fluent Japanese.
"What?! Hey! What is this? How am I speaking Japanese so well?!" Taro shouted, panicking.
"Relax. It's a ninjutsu, a special technique that we ninja use. While I hold my hands like this, you can speak Japanese for the time being." The ninja answered, informingly.
"Why have you brought me here?" Taro asked with a serious look about his face. "What is this place?"
"This is the Hidden Village of Sound. We've brought you here because your bloodlimit is very rare here. Under our instruction, you could become a powerful ninja to serve our village, and your new friends." The ninja spoke.
"Friends? Friends..." Taro pondered. 'Friend... almost rhymes with Family. Heh.' Taro thought. Without speaking a word, Taro gave the ninja a nod. These people needed his help, and Taro found new meaning in his life to give them what he could.
Chapter 8: A New Purpose
Age 16: Within his year in the Sound Village, Taro learned Japanese. He instantly found a natural proficiency in water ninjutsu, and learned the sound release from scratch to show his allegiance to the Sound Village. He completed the academy, learning the basic ninja techniques that others learn at a much younger age. Taro was given a Sound Village headband, a place to live and some food and clothing. Although Taro served the Sound Village, he had his own mission set out for him. The Kage of the Sound Village was lawful in his actions, but seemed to have some kind of ulterior motive. As a result of Taro's newly aquired personality, and mission to make the world a better place, Taro made it his new goal to uncover the Kage's evil intentions and extinguish corruption from what should be the perfect, the powerful, and the righteous Sound Village. Taro decided that his life path would be to become a political revolutionary, and one day become high enough in rank so that Taro could more directly change the Sound Village's priorities to enacting true justice.
